A small suggestion. I've recently got the apparition ability, Aurelia would be taking her apparition test when she turns 17, which is in December. This is a suggestion to have those with that ability gain access to the apparition test forum. I would like to rp her testing there? :3

I have a suggestion based on the issue of students who are unhappy with their house sorting
Similar to the special races application, there could be an application in which students are invited to write a short rp of them pleading their case to the sorting hat, in homage to how the hat takes into account student's personal preference in the books.
In order to prevent constant streams of house changes, this could be limited to one request and only within the first few months of registration like the special races application.
Students could be invited to describe why their value system most fits the house they are describing, why their character personally wants to be in a certain house, or any other details they think would sway the sorting hat. I figure this format would be good to not break from immersion too much while also giving students a chance to have their characters fit more closely with their vision (I must admit, this suggestion is partly inspired by my own struggle to reconcile my character being in a different house than what I had hoped)

That would unfortunately contradict a core facet of cannon - the sorting hat is never wrong.
In addition, we developed the validation and Index system with the intention of specialty races. Races being something players add-on after they are validated because we believe in informed decisions and want players to have a sense of the community, the present systems and what is means to be a specialty race. Considering the amount of time I spend with new players in validations, the number of times I have to reiterate what is in the welcome letter, remind users that this is not a social media site or that Voldemort is still alive is mind-boggling. Approving specialty races at that juncture would be untenable with the dozen+ new players we get and review daily.
I have encouraged (for the last 6 years) that members roleplay their IC expectations and their IC belief in their values and how they do not match the house they are in and reconcile this as intended (via roleplay). We are a moderated site so your actions and choices have influence over the outcome, however there are times where you will end up with an unanticipated (or wanted) result. The sorting ceremony becomes moot if players can just state "I want something else" and the staff work of changing these houses individually after reviewing a write up is an additional burden on the staff team.
That said, I will link your suggestion to the staff team because I am but one voice.
There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.

What Lear said!!!!
I still want to be in Ravenclaw or Slytherin not Gryffindor...
But as Lear said there's a reason why it's the way it is.
I'd rather not have the rules change about being able to get into a different House now.
Just because then it would only be an advantage to new students and not older students.
If I saw new people being able to change and I was not allowed to change it would be annoying.
Especially since I would have asked instantly to change if the option was available.

Personally, I feel that the encyclopedia update system is inconvenient and unnecessary to a certain extent. Many people have fancy or specific codes that break easily and some people, who may do homework often, are learning spells very often and have to submit a new form or edit the old one to update their trunk. When a new ability is added, they have to have a staff member add it for them, and overall it's just a lot of work and stress for the staff members who already work hard enough to maintain this site. I think that a new system should be implemented if possible: The Games master still can edit and manage a user's trunk post (as it is right now) but the user can also edit the post. If caught cheating, a staff member could remove or report it.
Personally I just find it frustrating to have to wait a couple of weeks for a minor stat change (but others may think differently).

But the thing is about that- theres a lot more behind it than what you're describing. And it may be very hard to catch someone "cheating". Yes, they'll eventually get caught, but it just is- well- more fair? to everyone if a unmoderated account (Game Master) does the trunks- and locks it so the others can't do anything to potentially bypass the trunk.
Asides from that, I've talked to people in the past who tried to frequently change their stats because they got bored of being too strong and such. What you gained by graduating or by sports win- I find fair- even if you have to wait just two weeks.
And another thing about "catching someone cheating" have you noticed how many people are on every day- and how many people get validated daily- as well as those who literally just lurk? That's a lot of people to watch. And they already have so much to do, why add onto it for them?
just my train of thought.

its been a year, i wanted to propose this idea again. also as i didn't get a no previously. esp with the new deact application thread, it would be a cool idea - if someone finds they do not connect with an original character, they can take on a character from the wanted bios. that way, some might feel like their new character already place and is established to a small extent. it might be easier to connect with the character more in a way.Aurelia Notresvace wrote: 18 Sep 2021, 04:30 SUGGESTION: A thread to post wanted bios.
Am not entirely sure if this suggestion has been posted already. Some/most sites have wanted bios. Although H.io is an exception because it has a 1 character limit ;-;, it would still be possible for new players to take on the character or those without an iNPC or players who want to deactivate and create a new one. This does limit the characters age to likely around 1st year. But it would be a good idea for those who want familial relations eg younger bro/cousin or simply friendship for their PC or iNPC. Or even wanted bios for professors, if a professor wants a child... or if a student wants a professor uncle.
although, it still does involve some trust.

No one stops anyone from posting such a thing themself (for themselves or for others to sign up to). This is nothing that has to be staff run, if you or anyone else wants to do it, go ahead! I think that could be interesting.
The only thing is that yes, those characters would need to be in first year age to be able to be taken by players.
