Angelo grew up as a normal child. Well, a muggle lifestyle would be what he would consider normal. He went fishing with his dad, helped with groceries, and did his math homework diligently. Practically everything a normal person would expect of a normal child. His dad always said he was special and said he was capable of magic, telling some sort of clearly made-up story about his mother's adventures, but he always pushed those words into the back of his head. He would take being a normal person over becoming some sort of weird eccentric any day.

Well, one could imagine his surprise when he learned that his father's magic talk was real and not some odd parenting trick to get their introverted kid to feel better about themselves. Being accepted into Hogwarts felt almost surreal in a sense; it was a far cry from the usual school routine he had, and he was very clueless about what was going on. While other students were discussing spells already, he found himself still thinking about long division. Would that even still be relevant anymore?

Would anything still be relevant? Would he still fish with his dad, or was there some sort of magical wizard spell that could fish for you? Wizards probably carried their groceries with some sort of charm. Or maybe they didn't need to carry them at all. He didn't want to adapt to such an odd lifestyle. He found it more grounding when he did things manually.

He found himself yearning for a torch when other wizards knew to use the Wand-Lighting Charm, or looking for lined paper when what was provided was quill and parchment. He was used to eating Mars bars instead of Chocolate Frogs. After all, he wasn't very good at magic, he believed. He constantly thought his wand would backfire at him if he made the slightest slip-up. However, his preference and familiarity with a muggle lifestyle gave him an advantage over others who might be unfamiliar with it. Sure, he didn't grow up with Quidditch, but he thought it was funny how some wizards might've never watched football, or they might've never had some sort of movie night. He would be more experienced in using muggle technology than any muggle-studies-obsessed wizard might be.

Hogwarts was fascinating, he had to admit. Learning spells, potions, and all other sorts of magical things would be a great help to him, as well as a great privilege. He didn't want to reject his magical heritage, but he didn't want to abandon his muggle life either. So he would use whatever would benefit or comfort him at the moment, whether it be something magical or not.

Total WC: 831/400.

Wood - silver lime. 106/50 words.
Though quiet, Stella's thoughts are layered, deliberate, and focused, marked with a precise perceptiveness that often takes people by surprise. She is also a faster learner than most of her peers; where others simply know, Stella understands - her ability to grasp concepts swiftly and turn them into refined, effortless magic resonates with the silver lime's attraction to powerful minds. Additionally, although she is unaware of her status as a Seer at the time of receiving the wand, this wood's association with visionary minds seems to be instinctively attuned to her subtle intuition and strategic awareness, rewarding the strength of her mind with elegant and powerful magic.

Core - phoenix feather. 95/50 words.
While not particularly stubborn, Stella's enduring nature makes her a perfect match for the phoenix feather core. She is not one to give up easily, whether it's in her relationships or schoolwork. Paired with her sharp wits, her calm, quiet determination is often rewarded with success in most ventures. Her remarkable ability to carry disappointment with grace and persist in spite of it has been honed through both failure and triumph in her personal life, allowing her to meet the wand's independent nature with steady attention where less resilient witches may be stalled by doubt.

Wand flexibility - supple. 61/50 words.
This wand's mid-range flexibility mirrors the internal contradictions in Stella's adaptability that ultimately balance each other out. On one hand, she holds onto her core moral principles quite firmly and does not respond well to sudden changes in her life. On the other, she is remarkably tolerant as well as capable of accommodating for nuance, to make room for other perspectives.

Wand length - 23.7cm. 89/50 words.
At 23.7cm, Stella's wand length strikes a balance between subtlety and presence, reflecting her balanced, thoughtful nature that still allows room for graceful expression when needed. Her high society upbringing in a pureblood family meant she developed a thorough understanding of poise and etiquette from a young age, and thus her presence is quietly elegant and polished. Like her personality, her wand is understated and refined rather than flamboyant, and thus the spells she produces are performed with intricate finesse and control, rewarding patience and precision over dramatic gestures.

Acquisition. 480 words.
Like most other Hogwarts students, Stella's first wand had been acquired from Ollivander's the summer before her first year. While it certainly worked, there was something that just didn't feel quite right about it. Each spell seemed to require a fraction more concentration than it should've, landing with the faintest hesitation, and charms that should've flowed instinctively always felt a little sluggish, as though her magic had to pass through a thick gauze before materialising in the world. Not failure, exactly - after all, her wand still technically obeyed her, but never with the same eagerness of some of her classmates' wands. At first she thought that the fault lay in clumsy movements or muddled intent, but even her most precise technique from hours of practicing did nothing to remedy the issue. There remained a slight drag in her spellcasting, as if her wand was listening but was never entirely persuaded, and Stella was unable to shake the thought that it had chosen her in a moment of compromise, finding in her a tolerable match rather than one of destiny.
The problem grew steadily worse after she was pulled from Hogwarts. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the mismatch between her and the wand seemed to become more prominent when her sense of self faltered. Spells that had once felt merely sluggish now outright stumbled and fell; even the simplest of incantations seemed to fizzle with doubt. It was hard not to wonder if her wand had sensed her unraveling before she had, binding itself reluctantly to a girl who no longer believed in her own magic. Finally, in an overdue moment of frustration, Stella had slammed it against her desk, hard, and swore under her breath that she was through with this wand.
When she finally spoke with her parents, blurting out the full story of her misbehaving wand, they exchanged a look she couldn't quite read. Stella had braced herself for a lecture on diligence and hard work, but instead her mother reached across the table to still her restless hands. "Not every match is perfect," she said gently. "My family knows a wandmaker who owes us a small favour. Perhaps it's time to call it in."
Thus, Stella was sat down in front of an old Sicilian wandmaker and questioned at length - about her interests, her dreams, her greatest fears. It was a strange and vaguely uncomfortable experience, one that left her deeply confused about the wandmaking process, but a few weeks later she had a wand that at last felt like it was made for her. The wood hummed underneath her fingers with what felt like recognition, the core responding eagerly to her command, and for the first time spellcasting carried a clarity and effortlessness that had been missing before. Stella finally understood, without anyone needing to say anything, that this wand was truly hers, in every sense of the word.

Lovely? Well, Hana wouldn't describe herself as lovely, modest as ever or maybe she just doesn't like to be called lovely, she thinks it sounds like a pet's name. But to be fair, everyone knows the truth, she's pretty, even though she doesn't like to admit it, she'll just smile politely whenever people call her that.

In her earlier years, like when she was born till 3 years old, she looks like a normal children, with the chubby face and the big doe eyes, yea, cute, but not like those pretty faces that stands out. But when she was 10 years old, her striking features were more noticeable and till now, the gorgeous features haven’t faded away, and it even seems more pretty and eye-catching. So let’s analyse her face now.

Hana has a very symmetrical face.

Face shape and skin colour: She has the heart shaped face in a porcelain-but-healthy kind of shade, with pink blush constantly on her cheeks and the tip of her nose, and in winter, it’s more obvious.

Eyebrows: Hana has dark brown coloured, straight and slightly arched eyebrows, which is the perfect standard of eyebrows in most Asia countries.

Eyes: Hana has almond-shaped and obsidian like eyes, double eye-lid and those sparkly eyes turned upward slightly at the end, giving her a kitten-like eyes. The shadows form from the eyelid give her a natural eye liner vibe. She also has long and thick lashes, like she just stepped out of a manga world.

Nose: Hana has a small nose, she has a straight nose bridge and slightly upturned at the tip.

Lips: Full, plump pink lips, perfect 1:1.618 upper to lower lips ratio, with a defined and soft cupid’s bow.

Hair: long, black and silky hair flowing to her chest, giving her a soft-girl-vibe. though Hana will not agree to that

Body structure: perfect 1:1.618 ratio. Although she is still at a young age, but people predict that even if she grows taller in the future, the ratio of her upper body and her lower body will not change, still the golden ratio.

So, this is basically an analysis of Hana's beauty. Much thanks to her parents, who are also good looking, because of their excellent genes, making Hana perfect in appearance. And her brother, he is also gorgeous but we don't want to mention him as much here, cause we'll let Hana shine.

In her first year of Hogwarts, when she stepped in the Great Hall, ready for her sorting ceremony, she already received a lot of attentions from peers, and maybe even some of the professors because of the way she carried herself, her confidence plus her beauty. Even though some times she is freaking inside. She remembered walking down the aisle of the Great Hall, and hearing whispers like 'Merlin's Beard, look at her' or 'Damn, she's actually cute' or 'New Hogwarts' beauty', all sounds like exaggeration, but no, Hana is just like that. Beautiful and distracting but she doesn't know, or at least, pretend not to know.

Despite feeling like all he did as a duelling referee was cower and dodge wayward spells, Pyxis had been picking up on quite a lot of new things, especially after he'd been the moderator for two upperclassmen duels in his second year. The snake came out of that experience admiring the older students for many things, and he noted the stark differences between duels among his age group and the older kids. Their stances were stronger, their demeanors more intense, their strategies were wholly opposite to what he was normally throwing out on the piste. The lad was accustomed to resorting to Knockback Jinxes from even his few first spells, but the upperclassmen were much more patient, casting spells to hinder their opponents before delivering deathly blows in the form of exploding balls of fire.

Pyxis was truly impressed by the feats, and he exited his second year aspiring to work on his duelling form so that his transition into an upperclassman duellist would be easier. And there was one specific skill that made the snake's jaw drop every time he saw it used - the splitting of spells mid-piste, resulting in two targets rather than one. He couldn't believe his eyes the first time he saw it happen, and he just couldn't escape it. It seemed like the older duellists relied on that kind of skill to give them an upper hand in the already fierce matches. Pyxis wanted desperately to gain something that would give him that kind of edge in duels, so he decided to put himself to work once he returned to Hogwarts for his third year.

While the lad felt like a social butterfly among his peers though, he didn't feel comfortable approaching the upperclassmen. Maybe it was how frightening they were while on the piste, or maybe it was how busy they looked off the piste, but his networking training had failed him miserably. Instead, Pyxis took to the duelling club room to practice, and the good ol' library to find information on how he could achieve the skill he was trying to learn. He had never really used the library for anything before, so this was truly a defining moment in his time at Hogwarts, and he definitely needed the help of his more academically-inclined friends. He learned that the key to the art of splitting a spell was simply increased focus, and managing to hit two targets came from accuracy training. And of course, controlling the cast was a major facet to ensure that the spell wouldn't blow up in his face. He'd had his work cut out for him.

And so his training began. Third year was much harder that Pyxis expected, and the extra workload threatened to derail his plans of practice entirely. But the snake was never one to prioritze his studies, so he did in fact let his focus waver off his textbooks. He knew that his grades would definitely reflect that laspe, but he couldn't care less. He was beginning to live and breathe his sport, and nothing gave him a greater thrill.

The initial cast was harder for him than the accuracy training, to his surprise. Pyxis always found that he, for lack of a better term, sucked at actually hitting his targets, but casting didn't really cause many issues. That is, until he tried to learn how to split his cast. He hit his targets about half the time, but his spells went off successfully much less than that. He'd learned his lesson after getting knocked backwards by his own jinx ten times in a row. Casting the Bubble-Producing Spell was easier on his body when he messed up. But he worked at it constantly, sometimes even giving up half his lunch break to run over to the club room to get some casts in. After classes, he scribbled down the bare minimum for his homework and then returned to the club room. He would have slept there if it wasn't for Hogwarts' pesky curfew rules.

And soon enough, his work paid off. He was getting better making sure the bubbles didn't stick to his face, and made their way over to the metal training dummies instead. He could visualise the bubble splitting into two before it happened, making it much easier to will the thing apart. Once the bubbles were no longer attacking him, he switched to more damaging spells and found success there to. Hitting the targets square on was still something Pyxis needed to work on, but he was getting better at it slowly. Soon enough, he wouldn't have to neglect his academics anymore.

If you wonder if Zach stopped his obsession with healing magic, no, he didn't. He pushed himself to learn the related topics. Whether it was from classes, books, or even from some gossip that spread around. He had his way to test them, to learn them, and even had mini-research that he conducted secretly. Yes, Zach was obsessed with the knowledge of healing.

But this wisdom didn't stay in his head only. It slowly became a part of his life. His eyes often observed people around him, analysing if they needed help. This greatly sharpened when he was a healer intern in his third year. Spending time in the Hospital Wing made his body adapt to the situations around him, forcing his brain to assess the needs of the patients while keeping his heart calm.

One of his most memorable experiences was when he found his friend sick. It was very heartbreaking for him since he just knew that she really pushed herself too hard. He was ashamed since he couldn't notice it sooner. With trembling hands and tears, he tried his best to give first aid treatment while promising himself to be better. He didn't want this to happen again.

So he started to improve himself more and more. He stocked many health supplies, both from Muggle and Wizarding world, like iodine, bandages, salves, and potions in his enchanted satchel. He regularly checked them to see if his supplies ran out or expired. He also began to notice more small things: the way people breathe, the drooped shoulder from fatigue, the slight wince when people move, even the faint cough they tried to hide. Zach would ask them if they needed anything. He didn't hesitate to offer his help if he brought what was needed with him. Even as simple as a bottle of water or tissues, Zach was always ready. He also kept studying, even reading upper years' literature.

The gestures might be small or even unnoticeable. But it was Zach's commitment to himself that he wouldn't let people around him suffer. He constantly reminded himself to keep improving and was happy when he could do something for people in need. Healing magic became closer to his life. It became his instinct, his way of life. He always tried to improve his knowledge. He wanted his presence to give benefits to others. For him, healing magic wasn't only about tending wounds and sickness, but also the way he could help and nurture, and prevent people from suffering.

It was a pleasant day, and Violence had decided to spend it by the lake near her mansion with her bestfriend, Avina. They had decided to paint, trying to capture the beauty of the lake and the lands that spread behind. A picnic with Avina would freshen up her mood and she would be able to concentrate on her studies much better. She spread out a sheet on the grass, and started setting up her easel. "Shouldn't Avina have been here by now? I should go and check." Thinking so, she started walking down the opposite path. As she got closer to Avina's house, she her the rustling of bushes, "Hey, what's your problem? Leave me alone." Vi rushed towards Avina to see a pale boy standing there, looking disheartened. "Vi! You're here," Avina's muscles visibly relaxed when she Vi and her frown vanished. This happened a lot. Artemis always said Violence had pretty privelege. People saw Vi's face, and just always got distracted. She was distracting to look at. Violence always thought it was a bad thing because people would always get lost and forget what they were talking about, but she knew she could always use it to her advantage if she wanted to. "Oh, you're a charm!" Vi looked at the boy with unease and then turned her gaze to Avina. "What's going on? Everything alright, Avina?" "This is Damon Blackwell. The Blackwells just moved into the estate neighbouring ours. They came over for the usual niceties, so I left from the backdoor but I saw him coming after me. When I asked if he needed anything, he didn't say anything and just continued to follow me. This is the 7th time I'm asking him to say something, but he hasn't said anything." Avina sucked in a deep breath. "Okay, let's calm down first," Violence's voice washed over them, and Damon seemed to be staring at her. "H- hey, nice to meet you. I'm sorry, but my mother advised me to go with Avina. I'm just not good at socialising and I got scared with the way Avina was so frustrated. It's just- if my mother finds out that I haven't made friends with Avina and the daughter of the Bloodthorns, I will face sever punishment." Violence was horrified, "Okay, firstly, I am Violence Bloodthorn. It's okay, me and Avina were just gonna spend the afternoon painting. Would you like to join us?" As a hush fell over the landscape with the coming dusk, Avina and Vi were introduced to Damon's very abusive mother, an emotionally absent father and a sister who was too busy being mother dearest's favourite. They laughed and chatted, and soon it was time to return home. "Why don't you both come to my place for a little while? Damon, you could meet my mother as well. She'd love you." Agreeing, they cleaned up and went back to the Bloodthorn mansion. Artemis, Vi's mother, was delighted to have Avina and Damon over as both the Blackwells and the Gravehearts were at the mansion as well. Vi went to the kitchen to drink some water, while Avina and Damon went to greet their parents. Suddenly, she heard hushed footsteps, and- was that Damon sobbing? "Why is there paint all over your dress and body? How many times do you need me to explain to you what family honor means, you ungrateful brat. You have everything you could wish for, and yet, you bring shame to our lineage. You don't deserve the title of being a Blackwell." Violence couldn't stand it any longer, she stepped into the light, exposing herself to Mrs. Blackwell. As soon as Damon saw Vi, he looked away in embarassment.Mrs. Blackwell however, was looking at Violence. "I- Oh, my apologies. I'm Damon's mother. You must be Violence? I must say, you're very pretty. Nice to meet you!" "I'm sorry I can't say the same, Mrs. Blackwell. I couldn't help but overhear your conversation, except it wasn't exactly a conversation, was it? Damon is a very nice child, and I doubt your family's lineage is feeble enough to be tarnished by a little paint. Thankyou for the compliment, though. You look gorgeous as well." Violence's voice was sickly sweet, she was taught to respect her elders after all. Over the years, Artemis taught Vi grace. She taught Violence how to present herself infront of people, how to move every muscle in her body like the waves of a calm ocean. "I'm sorry you had to hear that, darling, " she smiled at Violence, a genuine one, and turned to Damon. "We'll discuss about this at home, hmm?" With that, she turned to go back to the sitting area. Violence sighed, it was a start. She turned to Damon, who was shocked, "How did you do that? She's never lets me go off that easy. I'm still going to get scolded at home but this feels nice aswell. Thankyou!" With that, he also went away.

Quiet and soft. If those words didn't fit the list of ways to describe Emily Shephard other than "bookish", "humble", "squishy" and "smart", then the millions of versions of the Dictionary around the world would probably have to be burned and redrafted. It was hard not to picture Emily without those words. She certainly wasn't an aggressor - Despite the nuisance that flies were, she wouldn't raise a swatter towards them - nor was she known for being melodramatic and hysterical in the wake of adversity. Sure, there'd be the odd tear of panic and a bit of nervous pacing every now and then - mostly when she's forced to meet the terrible fate that was none other than Transfiguration homework. She wasn't invincible but on the whole, Emily was a soft, adorable ray of sunshine who spread love to as many people as she could in a day. If there were days where she would be raging mad at anything, those days were very few and extremely far between.

Emily was a mindful person, always seeking luxury in being where she felt closest to - the Earth. Whenever stress decided to grate its nails into Emily's head, she would be quick to escape outside and be among the flowers and the butterflies. She would relax instantly in nature's presence, whether it was hugging a tree, quietly admiring flowers on a bush, feeding the wildlife or simply lying starfish-shaped out on the grass to soak up the fresh earth and air. That level of care as she connected with nature was for sure a lesson she learnt in how to be careful, quiet and gentle. The last thing she wanted was to scare anyone or appear reckless, temperamental or impatient. For her, this practice was like a soothing balm to her worries and stress - a home remedy adopted from since she was a small child.

The Huffie's embrace for peace wasn't just mirrored in how she interacted with nature. She was already a soft-spoken soul, entering a room without fanfare, but that calmness persevered in how she interacted with others too. Emily was a keen listener when it came to hearing her friends tell stories, vent frustrations about their problems, even cry into her shoulder when things felt like they were falling apart. Emily would simply sit there and listen, offering a hug when the venting was over. As far as Emily was concerned, her friends' problems were her problems, and the best way she knew how to let them know they weren't alone was a good hug.

Recognising that Emily was a cheery, squishy, sunny marshmallow without a single violent bone in her body, it was hardly a mystery why people were simply at ease with her around. If her actions didn't speak for it, then they could always merely look at her expression, gentle features and loving eyes greeting every friend and stranger around her. All that combined when Emily was in the room, everyone was in good and safe hands, and in for a good hug ahead!

His wand still didn't feel familiar in his hand, but spells seemed to answer him in a way that even frightened himself. Kael had learned the charms at home, even though they never in a formal environment. The teachers noticed that his incantations, although they were occasionally calm or whispered, often led more than expected. Not every spell worked perfectly, but the sparks of the talent were clear and undeniable. What others worked for weeks sometimes made Kael after a single attempt. Of his earliest years, Kael showed an unusual affinity for charm work. Kael is also shaped by curiosity. He carefully views in front of the acting and carefully records observations in his notebooks and doodles. This was a harbinger of the way stimuli would define its growth. His loyalty also ensures that his gift benefits more than himself. Kael's tendency to bring strange objects at all times reflects a creative spirit that is always looking for connection between ordinary objects and magical possibilities. Although he is not the loudest in the classroom, his persistence and thoughtful experimentation help him to get ahead quickly. His first instance of magic was neither destruction nor an accident, but a controlled, protective effect: slowing his fall, bringing him to safety and proving that his instincts looked at the practical and subtle. Prodigal Charms is not only recognition of natural gifts, but also, how this gift is encouraged by patience, details and calm brilliance. This orientation addresses the spirit of lost stimuli directly, where innate skills match with thoughtful intentions. He tries not to use magic for aggression, but for clever usefulness and protection. When classmates fight, Kael quietly demonstrates what he discovered, or lends his strange collection of jewelry to support her practice. With lost stimuli, Kael will not only refine his own skills, but also inspire others by example and prove that careful observation and loyalty can be as powerful as boldness. Foundation of Kael, the ability for the lost order recognizes a student who both promise and embodies responsibility. This way of thinking enables him to notice the subtleties of the wand movement, the rhythm of the syllables and the small differences that postpone a spell from failure to success. His bravery also dives many hesitation in the right moments, he performs to try something discouraging that is guided by caution and courage. He is not ruthless, but a quiet innovator who can transform the lessons into opportunities. His story shows that his magic has always supported the charm, and his personality ensures that such skills are not wasted.

After Ally had found out that she was witch, when she had turned 11 years old. So a couple of days later after her actual birthday which fell on the weekend Ally's mom and Grandmother had decided to throw her a Birthday party and of course they Invited some muggles so magic wasn't involved but there was an incident where a couple of kids were feeling nervous, out of place and even a few fighting but all that stopped the moment Ally had walked into the room in her beautiful dress. Her mom had decided to dress Ally up as her favorite princess which was based off of a muggle cartoon called Beauty and The Beast that she used to watch before she found out she was a witch and to this day she still watches it when she is feeling in a living and caring mood. So here is the outfit Ally is wearing when she walks down the stairs of her house: Princess Belle Dress. The moment Ally stepped foot into the ballroom of her house which is where here birthday party was being held and all the kids were nervous and fighting everyone felt a positive change in the atmosphere, of course Ally's mom and grandma knew the real reason behind such feeling and Ally oblivious as ever thought the talking and fighting stopped because she walked down looking beautiful. This is when Ally's gran and mom had decided it best to explain everything after the party so they had told Ally to go and enjoy herself and try to make friends, because we know how difficult things have been for you lately. It was about 9:00 p.m. and the party was finally winding down Ally's mom, grandma and all the guests sang Happy birthday to Ally and then Ally cut the cake and handed everyone a slice. Nobody worried about having school because Ally's birthday was during Summer vacation. Finally all the guests had left and Ally's mom and grandma each took one of Ally's hands and lead her to the couch to sit down so they can tell her something honey you may not have noticed this when you walked down the stairs you may have understood it as they were just in awe of how beautiful you look in that dress that they were just stunned, but the fact of the matter is that your grandma and I noticed that the minute you walked into the room you possess a special ability that is called calming presence and it is a special ability one has to calm a room full of angry, agitated, nervous or if the people are just fighting like some of the kids were doing. All in all it is an effect of which you are found to be peaceful, fun, or just straight up calming to be around, and that the people might enjoy their presence with you.

- My small note, though insignificant really, is that this is not an ability you would know of as an ability IC perse. It's not the same as legilimency or being an animagus. It's just more of an effect of where you are found to be peaceful/fun/calming to be around, that people might enjoy their presence with you, but it's not the same thing as legilimency, so I am going to ask that you edit out any sort of mention where it's an ability that she noticed in an IC perspective. When done, either let me or another index member know and we will go on from there.

Upwards. Some would say that once you hit rock bottom, the only way that you could go was upwards.

Piérre hoped that this old adage was true, that it didn't just apply to pitiful drunks that had lost all hope or to the gambler who was on his last chip with holes in both pockets.

Upwards. The direction that his eyes always seemed to flutter to when they could, towards clear skies or dark clouds with thundering underbellies. Somewhere small wings could cut through, could tease the effervescent swirls of mist and magic.

When he had only been a young fifth year, he had pursued and succeeded in the difficult accomplishment of becoming an animagus without the training wheel assistances of adults besides their presences in ensuring that he became lawfully registered. Fifth year, when just as he had started to believe that he was opening up his wings towards independent flight he had instead come crashing down in a brilliant cacophony of fire and sound.

Not that he wanted to find it in himself to pity his own situation. Indeed, to pity himself would be shameful while there was certainly still a way to better his circumstances. Yet, that means was slowly becoming more and more confusing--unrecognizable--as the months had passed. For this reason had he dared to reconnect with the father that most likely would have appreciated him just as much dead as alive, had learned the basis of the trade which they both shared an unusual passion for: performance. And, in the midst of this training, Piérre had determined the element that had made his father so different and so eerily successful in the midst of his evils and scrupleless acts tailored only towards his own gain: it was the desire to act in the interest of his own gain. It was in the interest of power.

When he had left the Jubilant Bazaar after his first venture there over Easter Break, he had stolen (or, perhaps, Gitano had let him steal), an old pharmacopoeia that carried in its parchment thousands of notations in the man's determined hand. Sketches and elaborate diagrams of advanced potioneering techniques, of experimental procedure and results of them, of theorycrafting based on known information on creatures, botany, astronomy, runework, and human metabolisms. Some illustrations were, as he had paged through them briskly in his dormatory room, extreme. The decades-long work that Gitano must have dedicated himself to would have cost a law-abiding scholar many fortunes... and a criminal a hefty sentencing. Work ranging from mundane poisons, antidotes, mind and mood-altering substances utilizing Swooping Evil venom, all the way to a long and expounding series of experiments related to moon cycles and utilization of Lycanthrope material to potentially produce a modification of Polyjuice potion that would alter their time in bestial form, a concept of utilization of Qilin to enhance Legilimency, a section of unnamed draughts and drafts of myriad that Piérre (without having to even ask his Potions Professor about it) knew could easily serve as magical addictive substances. Several pages expounded on prose on Veela, Goblins and Vampirs and the potential of utilizing aspects of their natures to enhance alchemical pursuits.

And so much more. The writings in the booklet both frightened and enthralled the boy, the diagrams of anatomy and means to perform procedure to harvest and obtain substance and item from creature and plant, rituals and practices that had been learned from unnamed sources in the interest of confidentiality... There were even several sections of the man's work that Piérre couldn't decipher despite his best attempts of magic and interpretation short of requesting the assistance of a codebreaker (which would likely cause more problems than solutions, were one to be honest).

All of this... was in his hands now. It was in his hands, and he had not only dedicated the images and serpentine-cursive handwriting to memory but had begun to... experiment... for himself. Nothing crazy, just a harmless alteration of a known recipe here--an efficient way to harvest a plant there.

But, over the summer, he learned quite a bit more about the art of potioneering in general. Perhaps in part by exposure, perhaps in part because of that curious yet unnerving fact that Gitano seemed to have known all along that the boy was thirsting for some elusive ability that he--up to that point--had not known he lusted after, but Piérre began to learn under his father's tutelage quite a bit more than many of his classmates could ever dream to have learned at the humdrum school.

And, perhaps, Gitano realized this as well. Realized that despite the boy's fool nature there was a particular cleverness that he could use. That he could snap up. It had, simply, only taken this long for the potential to be realized. The boy's last and final obstacle was, in the end pursuit of the power he so desperately coveted, himself.

Piérre knew it. Gitano knew it.

But, as another old adage also says: A man will do more for his desperate desires than for his noblest ideals.

Upwards, it was...
