I was wondering if the items we were told to buy were completely necessary or not?

FAQ — Questions
I have a question about buying items...
What happens if I buy an object (apart from the fact that I lose money)? For example, I buy a Hot Chocolate in the Leaky Cauldron. Why should I do that? Can I only roleplay that I'm drinking a hot chocolate if I own this item? I'm confused...
I am not, as chosen in my profile, female, but agender. I use the pronouns they/them. Thanks.

@Jinnie Cobbler Yes, they are necessary to complete your validation checklist. Consider them your IC school supplies for your character's first year, because you cannot sell them back either.
@Quinn Prescott For the more expensive items, such as an invisibility cloak or a broom, or items that grant you access to locked boards (ex: the Fake Permission form to unlock Hogsmeade & the Room of Requirement), you must have those items in your trunk in order to use them in roleplay or adventures. Once the potion system releases this will be the case for ingredients and potions as well. However, for something cheap and relatively tame like a drink or candy, you don't have to own it. Especially considering our students eat and drink at the Great hall every day - that would be redundant and unfair to require those be in your trunk. Items like those are more there for flair & personality in your profile. Your character likes Butterbeer? You can show that by stocking up on some, but it's not required.

FAQ — Questions
But to add onto this, we have some items that have statistical relevance (such as brooms) which cost galleons and would be bought and placed in your inventory. There are other systems that are under development that will have some relevance to gameplay. Will there someday be a use for hot coco? No idea, we are making an effort to make everything relevant in some way while avoiding micromanaging day-to-day gameplay. A lot of the shop items are anticipated to be used in the potions system that is under development.

This may just be a small bug in the site, but I just wanted to comment and/or ask about how sometimes when you change your avatar/pfp, it doesnt save once you close the tab. Sometimes I will change my avatar and close the tab, and when I log back on its my old avatar again.
Just thought you should know!

I have no idea why that is happening, since it is not a common issue it might have something to do with either your browser or how you upload (such as using the back key). Sadly it is hard to replicate errors but please let me know if you identify a pattern.

I saw a few people mention this, one being Mac Murphy, who I can name off of the top of my head. This usually happens when you change your profile picture too many times at once, and it can be fixed by clearing your cache. I only know how to fix this while on computer, but if anyone has found a way to solve this problem/bug while on mobile please post in this thread because I really have no idea when it comes to that since I am not on site on my phone often. I hope this helped those who are having issues with their profile pictures! If you have anymore questions or concerns feel free to owl me or post here.
