FAQ — Questions
Hello,
If I didn't apply for an ability during my first year, (I am doing a bit of catchup) could I apply for two at once with the minimum word count being 800+? I started writing for my first one and realized I could merge the two storylines pretty easily.
Is the ability restricted to the same +/- 3 month timeline schedule if it is an ability that could have been had for a while (say keen eye or perfectionist) that are not school/study dependent?
Though, some earlier stuff implied I might only be able to apply for one/per year. If that's the case, disregard.

While you can apply for two abilities, you can not merge them. While not study dependent, each PC gets one skill slot per year.

You can apply for two abilities within the same post. This is an example of someone doing that! However, each application (within the same post) must be separate so that Index staff can approve it separately.
To address the second question, I'm not quite sure what you are asking. You get one ability per year, which you can backdate if needed – I've done that with my own adult abilities! You can write abilities as they describe your character's behaviour, in which case there is not usually a time-related requirement. However, if you want to base it around a specific event, I would say you can backdate to any point in the year during which you are applying for the ability (our OOC years technically run from 1 July to 30 June). You'd only be able to forward-date within 3 months.
I hope that makes sense! Feel free to ask a follow-up question if you'd like more clarification.
