That’s. . . Cool, but I’m not sure if you’ll be accepted.

How did you do that? I didn't think positions for prefects were open right now? And there already are I think 3-5 prefects for Gryffindor at the moment.

Don't worry, he is aware. I appreciate the ambition however.
There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.

Can first years be Prefects - Yes.
Most of our staff is tenured, but we do have some exceptions to this. Some of our staff joined us in a staff capacity weeks after joining the site. I was on the site for a few days before I started working on the staff side of things. But a lot of times people in those cases have a lot of experience in some capacity. We do have a lot of new people that end up working on staff with minimal or little experience as well. But generally it is a good idea to get known on the site and show that you are going to be around for awhile. When you do apply, make sure you give us a lot of information in your application. There are also lots of non staff ways to help the community out, we look for those things.

Imo I don't think 1st years should be prefects because prefects are supposed to be IC veteran students who know about what goes on at Hogwarts and have been there for quite some time. I don't know if there's a rule preventing 1st years from being prefects but IC I don't think it would make sense if a 1st year was a prefect. Therefore, I think only 2nd years+ should be allowed to be them. But that's just me.
So, in general I don't think 1st years should be prefects bc it doesn't make sense in an IC state.
But at the same time, if there is a special circumstance and it's explained IC as to why a 1st year is a prefect, then I don't see any problem with it for myself.
((regarding what Lear said above (I didn't read it before this posted)))
