Broom Racing - Fall Games


Fall Games are up for broom racing. Broom racing being one of the fastest pace sports in the wizarding world, with perils such as swooping evils, narrow passageways and the most dangerous quarry of all - one another. These teens show no mercy in a fast-paced race around the grounds and the rumored cursed forest. Now we generally have to ask: will they survive?

Feel free to bring your character and cheer your favorite team on. Please be aware that spectators cannot directly influence the game but their shenanigans can be noticed (as long as they do not effect the game itself) and you are able to monitor the action of the broom race in this spectators thread.

Broom Racers - please be aware of deadlines. You have exactly 5 days (down to the hour) from the mod post to post in the game. If you fail to post within this time period, your action(s) will be post. Multiple missed rounds of posting can place your position on the team in jeopardy. Due to the varied nature of deadlines (as the mods do not post at the same time), the mod team will not be able to individually remind you or your team but if your captain or teammate does happen to notice that you are approaching a deadline for posting, they may reach out. It is recommended that you set up a personal reminder or alarm if you fear that you will loose track of time. If you have time constraints, such as a busy workweek, it may prove beneficial for you to prepare and save your post to drafts so that you can simply find a minute of time to post your completed draft.

Holiday Homework

December, in particular, comes with a number of holidays that people celebrate in real life. It can also be a hard time for people, especially with everything going on, so I just wanted to do our annual reminder to be mindful of expectations on staff or other players in this month. This applies to roleplay post speed or indexing updates etc too. However, the focus of this will be homework as our professors do try their best to grade all homework before the end of the month each month and that is an unfair expectation to have at this time.

Everyone has different availability during this month, depending on the individual's culture, region, traditions and beliefs. Whilst we do try to grade homework in a timely manner, please note that due to the concentration of holidays, any homework submitted in the last two weeks of December may not be graded in time.

The end of the month is also a holiday (New Year's Eve) that many of our staff may be celebrating. As such, last-minute submissions will not be graded. Please do not submit any last-minute homework in an attempt to race to a victory. Whilst you might be okay with them not getting graded until the new year, they do place unnecessary expectations on the professors, which isn't fair. So please be mindful of that when submitting homework.

Biannual Index Clearing

It is that time again - we will be reviewing Index for activity to update the Index rosters in coming days so that we have an accurate census of players. For those that are removed from Index, please remember that activity is defined as posting anywhere on site within the past 6 months. Talking on Discord does not count. Further, getting your stipend/allowance/scholarship does not count as "activity."

If you are removed from Index, to return to Index you will need to re-register to Index.

Registration to Index is required for participation in sports, participation in events, and graduation to the next year.

Please join the staff in congratulating Damion White as the new Transfiguration Professor! Damion has been with the community since April of 2020, and has been a Ravenclaw Prefect since July of 2023. He is also an established Mentor and has helped many new users integrate into the site. We're excited to continue working with him on staff in a different capacity as he focuses his attention on the Transfiguration classroom!
