FAQ — Questions
I contacted the site master (Zach) regarding this. Unfortunately this does effect new accounts being made as well. Those who ask their friends to join, please contact me or one of the other HOHs for a work around in the mean-time. Hopefully Zach will get this fixed up for us quickly and I will be able to give you all an update.

FAQ — Questions
Okay, I have a few questions.

1) What does DC mean? In moderated events it will say something like ‘DC is (number value)’. Sorry, I’m really new to role playing.

2) In moderated events, do we need to put something like ‘Action—use (ability)’ at the bottom or are abilities already taken into consideration. Like for Sixth Sense, do you need to specify that you’re trying to notice someone? Also, from our character’s perspective, do we need to not mention someone with Cat’s Grace? I’m really confused...

3) Apparition. In the Harry Potter series, everyone learns how to Apparate at 17, but on this site it’s an ability you have to apply for. I honestly think it should be something you should gain from an RPG, but I’m sure you have your reasons for having it this way. From there, is Side-Along Apparition a thing? Like if someone has Apparition can they take people with them? I know this won’t matter for a few years, but I’m just wondering…

I was thinking about this before falling asleep last night so I’m pretty sure I’m missing something, but I’ll ask those questions when I remember them.

Yes, it is. It's in the ability list. Here it's called Advanced Apparition and requires the Apparation ability first. It allows you to bring others with you when you apparate, and prevents you from getting splinched. The people you bring with, however, can still be splinched, so be careful.

That's the only thing I can solidly answer for you. You'll have to wait for someone else to answer the rest.

FAQ — Questions
Hi! So I'm having some issues with y account. I don't know if it's an update, but when my brother got validated, he was taken to the sorting hat, but I've been taken to the Entrance hall. Is there a page I have to go to to get my house?

Thank you!

Hello! This isn't supposed to happen, actually. I brought this up to the staff team. It will be fixed soon, and you will be able to get sorted. So sorry for the inconvenience!

Ok, I remembered something else I wanted to ask, on top of these other questions (only the Side-Along Apparition has been answered):

4) When do rooms unlock. The Room of Requirement, Forbidden Forest, and most things in the Basement, for example, are inaccessible. Will we gain access once we reach a certain year? Thanks for the help!

Ah, so the RoR opens up if you buy the Hogsmeade permission form. I'm not sure if you get it at 3rd year. The rest opens up either 1 year early (with Map of the Undergrounds), or yearly (without it).

As for DC, it's what you need to have (roll+wisdom) in order to cast a spell. So if it's 10, the roll+modifier must be 10 or higher.

FAQ — Questions
1: DC is basically the difficulty you need to overcome. So if I have you attempting to lift a boulder and state the DC is 22, then that would be your strength + any modifiers + the result of a 1d20 roll most commonly. It is a concept from tabletop games such as DnD.
2: In moderated events it is best practice to post in your post your stats, abilities and actions in a clear manner because it makes things a lot easier for the mod. With skills where someone is hidden, IF you are in a moderated situation and the mod rolls that you are unaware of a player then you would not be able to interface with that player until they are revealed. Can you mention them? Sure, but it would be more along the lines of "little did Amber know she was being watched by Blake."
3: Looks like the previous question was answered by another student -- advanced apparition is a thing. As for the why on apparition being an ability is because it is not something everyone really bothers to use. Taken from the wiki: Apparition is a popular method of travel in the wizarding world, though it is stated that plenty of adult witches and wizards do not bother with it. These witches and wizards prefer brooms, Floo Powder or portkeys.
4: We were having a recent issue with avatars uploading (as in they were not). It would appear that this issue has been fixed, however it appears we have a new bug regarding the sorting hat. I tested this with a few other accounts just now. I will contact the site owner regarding this issue.
5: Various areas in the castle unlock with each year but there are ways of speeding it up (it costs a few galleons) as mentioned by Koko.
