"Oh... Sorry-" Serena started as she went to apologise for boring him, before realising that he was literally telling her to stop apologising, "Okay, that was the last one," she joked before raising her hands as though as was innocent and telling the truth. The girl nodded as he decided to continue, readying herself for his spell as she watched him. She tried to hide the pain off her face but it really did hurt her watching him struggle. He looked like he was in pain. He moved the wand back to his injured hand and had an expression that definitely looked like it hurt. However, she kept her mouth shut and tried to not show how she was feeling. Her face was very expressive - it always shows what she feels. It does that naturally, so hiding it was very hard for her but she tried to keep it hidden.
The innocent little girl watched as the amount of sparks from his wand grew. He's definitely getting the hang of it... It's just that pain... She mentally sighed, wondering if he would have more success with the spell if his hand hadn't been injured earlier. Serena was lucky, she was a very fast learner when it came to practical skills. She hated studying so tended to do badly on essays, tests, homework... anything that required writing, researching or time or effort actually spent doing it. But practical things? That she had down. She could quickly pick up practical skills. It wasn't useful when she didn't know the correct spells but hey, at least she could pick it up quickly... Note to self: learn a healing spell or two...
Serena watched him sit down, deciding that practice was over. Which worked out well for her because she didn't really want to try the spell again and risk hurting him further - or invoking a reaction that might cause another fist towards her face. Both of those things were definitely on the list of things Serena wanted to avoid today. "I think you'll be able to do it once your hand heals," Nodding, she replied as she stood looking a little confused as to what she should do for a moment before she heard him say that she could sit next to him.
For perhaps the first time in their meeting today, a genuine smile broke onto her face. It's a shame it's the first time because her smile was so lovely. It was the sort of smile that was full of life and warmth, the type that was contagious and made others happy. She had a great smile - and normally was always happy-go-lucky. But today had been one disaster after another and this may have been the first time she smiled. Smiling happily, she nodded and grabbed the seat next to him, "Thanks. So hey, you're not going to try and punch me again if I do right?" She asked, with a teasing smile on her face that showed she was definitely not being serious. In all honesty, messing with a guy whose temper was questionable right now was probably not a smart idea but Serena was trying to get to know him and also lighten the mood a little. Unfortunately, teasing was the best way for that and so far, the only thing she had to tease him on was the punch - mostly because she couldn't actually even begin to think about anything else right now!

"Haha, well that punch came from muscle memory. I didn't even know I was gonna punch ya, till the last minute, which was the reason it didn't hit you at all..." Said Siege chuckling to himself. Siege smiled back at the girl, trying to not look devilish, but ended up looking more and more like a smile of trouble. What a bother...This hand seems to be healing nicely from the bands the nurse gave me... These do really help. Damn, I do feel pretty bad for the girl to see me like that...I was supposed to be changing in this school..."Don't worry I won't hurt you...I'm not a crazed boy with anger-management issues or something." Said Siege, this time just lightly smiling. I know I'm not...I know it...I've gotta do better at hiding these flames...Hopefully no one saw the flames...Hopefully they were too distracted. Siege would hold out his hand, now not hurting as much, to the girl. Turning it, showing the palm side of his hand, he began to undo it. "Here, I'll let you undo it. I'm sure most of the burns have already been numbed out, it shouldn't hurt at all..." Said Siege, smiling warmly at Serena.

Serena couldn't help but laugh, relieved that he wasn't offended by her joke, "Well if you decide to throw one out again, could you at least yell duck for me?" She teased, smiling far too innocently for his troublesome expression, "You know, give me a fighting chance at least". They both knew that he could have easily hit her if he wanted to and there was no way she could have stopped it from happening at that proximity. Perhaps if she had expected it, she might have had a small fighting chance to shield herself or move out of the way.
The girl paused for a moment as she took what he said in. He claimed not be a crazy boy with anger-management issues. Nodding, Serena looked over to him, "Hey, can I ask you something? You don't have to answer it..." She continued as she thought about what he said, "You've said it was a reflex or muscle memory a few times..." Proceeding with caution as she tried to find the best way to ask her question, "And it doesn't matter what the answer is, I'm just curious so you can tell me to shut up if you'd like... but... do you mean to say that it's happened before? Perhaps... often?" Serena wondered if there was genuine trouble behind his troublesome smile. Did he get into fights often? Throw punches around at random people? Was there a reason his first instinct was to hit her? "If you don't want to talk about it, I completely understand. I just thought I'd ask, since you know, I was almost on the receiving end of one of those punches." She added quickly, talking perhaps too much and perhaps a little too fast but she just felt like she had to clarify.
Her eyes gazed down, falling onto the bandaged hand that Siege was holding up to her. She bit her lower lip slightly as she looked at it, before looking up at him with an expression that was probably way too innocent looking. Like an scared little kitten. Nodding, she looked back at his hand and very very gently took it in her hands. Serena carefully started to remove the bands that he had placed on there earlier. She wasn't sure why he was removing them but he seemed to know what he was doing - like he had done it before - so she just chose to trust him. It was, after all, his injury. Carefully, she removed the bands and held his hands really gently in her own. She moved slowly, watching him and ready to stop at the first flinch or gently blew cold air onto it if that would help. Honestly, she had no idea if it would help but she had seen people in films do that so she thought it might help and was ready to try it if it looked like she was causing him any pain during this process.

Siege merely laid back, and put his hands behind his head. "Happened before? When I said reflexes, I meant that I got into lots of fights in Glasgow." Said Siege coolly, not caring the type of question Serena was asking. "Though for the flames...They never almost show up...Only burns would show up on the ones that I fought, not full on flames." Remarked Siege. Remembering now, this was a first for flames to actually sprout out...On any of my previous fights, at least one burn mark, ranging from minor to second degree, no flames ever erupted from my hands... "Ya know, asking all these questions, you might give a guy the wrong idea" Jested Siege, while she undid the bandages. Of course he didn't feel anything, the strange bandages given to him by the nurse already numbed it out. Looking at the girl's fragile look, he gasped sharply, pretending to be in immense pain. This ought to be fun, wonder how she'll react? Will she jump, hit me? My hand? Maybe she'll apologize furiously, either ones fine with me, Decided Siege knowing she'll react some way. Everyone's seems to be focused enough to notice us here, a good thing...I don't wanna talk to the instructor again...

With her eyebrows furrowed slightly, Serena gave him a slightly questioning look, "You... got into a lot of fights back home?" She repeated, assuming Glasgow was home for him. She had heard what he said but she was questioning more the actual content of the sentence. Though, in all honesty, her expression was perhaps a little exaggerated by her on purpose - for dramatic effect. "So... do you know how those flames came about?" Serena asked him, after a moment's pause. She realised that they were rare for him so... she deduced that perhaps it wasn't a planned technique but rather an accident that he couldn't control.
Blinking, the girl looked up at him as he teased her, "Oh? And what sort of idea would that be?" She replied to his comment about giving the guy the wrong idea. She was asking pretty innocent questions in her head, anyway!
Serena returned to look at his bandaged hand after she had given him her best innocent look and questioned his ideas. Carefully, she held it with her left hand as she continued to remove the bandage with her right. Or at least, she thought she was being careful about it. That was until she heard a loud gasp echo in her ear. Instantly looking up, with widened eyes, she saw the fake look of pain on his face and assumed it was real. Panic shot through her. Without a second's hesitation, her right hand dropped the bandage and stopped removing it. She lifted his hand a little with her left, lowering her head towards it and quickly blew cold air onto it from her mouth.
Her now empty right hand shot up to the side of his face, placed itself onto his cheek and gently turned his head towards her with her palm, as she looked up at him with worry and concern in her eyes, "You ok?!" She asked, panic evident in her voice, "Shi- I'm sorry, I-" She stopped talking and quickly lowered her face back down towards his hand to blow cold air on it, thinking that perhaps the cool air would help calm the burning feeling. Her hand had instinctively moved to his cheek in the hopes of comforting him whilst also being able to try and read his expression to make sure the pain had stopped.

Siege hadn't anticipated that kind of major reaction. Jesus, this girl definitely is in Hufflepuff with that reaction...That S**t was priceless! Siege now, was trying to hold his laughter in, though he didn't exactly anticipate the hand of Serena to reach up to him. Well this is a first... Thought Siege, feeling a bit bad at the actual care that Serena had. "I'm fine Serena..." Words escaping his mouth. Come to think about it, it was the first time that he's said her name. "You really did come here for me huh?" Teased Siege, who just couldn't help it, with her hand on his cheek, and holding his injured hand in her left. I wonder what made her so caring like this...Frankly I find it a bit disgusting that someone could be this nice, but I don't necessarily mind it...But still being this kind...It's kinda unnatural to me... Siege would just flash her his trademark trouble smile. "Don't worry you don't need to do...whatever you're doing..." Said Siege, still laughing a bit inside, hoping not a single laugh would escape him. Not getting that joke...man, this girl really is an innocent little kitten...But to be this innocent...Well at least she's not innocent enough to not curse, Mused Siege.

Serena is nothing if not overly caring. It was probably actually a bad thing, in a world where people were bound to take advantage of it. But for now, she lived her life that way and it meant a lot to her to stay that way. The girl continued to examine his hand as she heard her name being spoken, “Are you sure?”, she asked voicing the concern she felt in her tone. At this point, she still believed he was hurt and wondered if he was just saying he was fine to pacify her. “Eh?”, she started as she heard his words before looking up at him. Her eyes widened slightly as they noticed a very familiar looking hand on the boy’s cheek. Pulling it away quickly, “Oh- I- wha- no!”, she started before realising that she had no idea what she was trying to say. Why was my hand there?!?! That’s not normal! Stop touching him, woman!
Pausing, Serena decided to compose herself before trying to respond to him. She examined his hand carefully, it looked like it was better so she gently started to remove the bandage again until it had fully come off. Doing that helped calm her down a little.
Without looking at his face (simply because she couldn’t right now or she would get too embarrassed), she replied to him, “I don’t come for guys who take too long to remember my name.” Her face was looking down at his hand, her hair falling in front of it and nicely blocking his view of her expression. Did she just say? Those words that... well... definitely had an innuendo in there... yes, probably. Was she aware of the innuendo? Perhaps. Maybe, maybe not. Perhaps she was a little less innocent than he expected. Or maybe she had no idea what wrong ideas could be taken from her words. Who knows?
Looking up at him, with the bandages in one hand and his hand still in the other, “How you feeling now?” She asked. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she noticed his expression. Wait just a secon- he’s... he made that up, didn’t he? She couldn’t quite figure out why but it looked like he was up to no good again. This was the first time she had actually took in his expression and it looked like he was trying really hard not to laugh...

Cameron got out his quill as he began to take notes on what a Dark Spell is, he wrote on his parchment and then opened his book to write down the full definition of the Dark Arts and Dark Spells. He thought about the quote the Professor mentioned and did not think about it any further since it was quite confusing to him. Cameron looked forward to his Defense Against The Dark Arts classes.

Lex watched Arceus's example, but didn't really like his advice (the 'emptying mind' one was good though). Shouting was something he prefer not to do. He shrugged and gave it a try anyways.
Lex closed his eyes and brushed everything aside, leaving a blank space of darkness. Thoughts tried to invade but he kept them out after a few tries. "Expelliarmus." he tried, louder this time. Though he did not shout, his voice was more clearer than the usual mumble-whisper. He opened his eyes to see a few sparks. Not bad. He needs to stay determined for this to work.
Lex tried again. He emptied his mind, and casted the spell. This time, he thought of and whispered the spell at the same time, hoping it would work. He did not shut his eyes, wanting to see how it actually happens if it did. A bright light flashed from his wand as he aimed it on the floor instead. Nothing happened but he felt it worked.
"Uh... was that right?"

James opened the door slightly, peeking in. Was this the class he was supposed to be in? It looked like it. James saw a label displaying the name "Defense Against the Dark Arts" and stepped inside the room.
"Sorry I'm late..." he said to whoever was supposed to hear it.
James quickly sat down at an empty desk and looked around.
He saw some students that he'd seen in the distance before, probably at the Sorting Ceremony, but he didn't know their names. He turned to the person next to him and whispered carefully to them.
"Um, what are we doing right now? Have I missed anything?" he asked.
Probably... his mind told him.
