It was no secret in the US that the South was known for their charm and hospitality. This didn't stop when it came to Everett. In his pureblood family they had raised him from an early age to be an exemplary practitioner of this. There was no lady that would open her own door around him, no person to be left unescorted if they needed assistance wherever they needed to go. He was quite the, well... charmer.

His smile left grandmas pinching his cheeks, and girls his age developing the cutest of young crushes on him. Although, he always had to politely turn them down due to his early discovery of his gayness. It really didn't come as surprise to anybody around him and he was lucky to be in a supportive environment, but generally he was still in the closet for the most part in his town. This almost added to his charm, the unattainable preppy boy. People tried to get him to crack, to be his first girlfriend, but they never succeeded and they always seemed to leave feeling dazed by his soft words and silver tongue. He was a horned serpent after all.

In addition to his training in politeness and grace, he also spent unending hours in his families library, reading anything that he could get his hands on. Which wasn't hard, his library was huge and he was lucky enough to have the wealth that could get him any additional book at the snap of his fingers. This only lent a hand when it came to Everett's smooth talking and expansive vocabulary. Romance novels taught him to be suave, how to pull a girl in. Granted, they were adult tactics that he had to mold to suit his childish desires. A signature of his was greeting someone new with a kiss upon their hand if they let him. No gender was safe from this greeting, he believed anyone should get the joy of being pulled in by him. Not just the ladies.

Everett already had a pretty big ego for someone his age. Growing up with people around him giving him such high praise for such little things gave him the confidence he needed to glide through life without a care. Granted, he was learning the hard way that he could definitely trip up and fail in making relationships with others. Learning how to interact had been a slippery slope, but even then he managed to charm his way out of nearly every awkward situation. Or, if all else failed, just never spoke to that person again.

Karilyna did not appear to amount to much. Barely four feet and five inches tall, her stature alone was enough to get her overlooked. Her general dislike of learning anything that did not involve action often resulted in an ignorant front, and as a result, assignments from tedious subjects in her eyes--especially Potions--were often returned with a less-than-passing grade. Such a sight would probably have brought a wave of shame to many, but to the young girl, it didn't matter much.

One wouldn't have to look far to see that Karilyna was practically made for Thunderbird. Filled with wanderlust and an insatiable curiosity, it was hard for even her to imagine herself anywhere else. But she went farther--much farther--than the stereotypes labeled her. While many belonging to her same house were typically satisfied with adventure, she was more than that. Karilyna was brave, confident, daring--and often reckless. She was fearless.

Strangely enough, the small child's fearlessness was more of a developed skill than a natural trait. Her life had been nothing buttrial after trial, and more pain than someone her age should've experienced. It would've been perfectly reasonable, perfectly rational, for her to be paranoid--surely people could've understood a deep distrust, a fear of danger, or a desire to run from anything that could result in any sort of hurt. And honestly, at times, it was hard for Karilyna to fight down such feelings, as there was no way she could live unaffected by her past. But years of carefully tucking away emotions and continuing on with a carefully mischievous smile on her face had paid off. It was hard to faze her.

Orphaned at the age of two, she'd ended up living in America for most of her life, hence her attending Ilvermorny rather than Mahoutokoro, which would've been the default for witches in Japan, where she'd been born. But the forced move across the ocean had been more than a grand adventure, or a beginning of a journey for the young Karilyna. It had meant being forever separated from the country she'd only learned to call home, instead having to fend for herself in a place where she did not know the language and had no relatives. It had been a huge task to ask of a toddler, and just plain scary, but even at the age of two, she'd faced it with a bright smile and the attitude of one undaunted.

Then came her adoptive parents forcing her to attend Muggle school. Now a little older and quite aware of her wizarding background, Karilyna understood perfectly what it meant. It meant being bullied for a still-prevalent accent. It meant control to keep from doing or saying anything that might reveal wizardry in any way--an immense amount of control that she lacked. It meant being tossed into a culture she was unfamiliar with, and still being expected to keep up with the bigger, smarter kids who'd already been in school for a few years. When finally, she was sent off to her first day of school, Muggle façade complete and immaculate, she went. That wasn't to say she liked it, for there was some serious resentment the girl still harbored about the fact, but she simply would not back down. Fear was something that had to be faced.

While intrepid, Karilyna had never been an exceptionally bright child. Both factors likely contributed to the fact that she never failed to get herself into scrapes. Whether it was insolence or a snide remark to a sensitive classmate, a scraped up cheek from a senseless careening down a hill on a bike, or a black eye from sidewalk scuffles, she seemed to always be somehow injured--a fact that never ceased to annoy her adoptive parents. Although the girl herself couldn't deny that it hurt sometimes, she'd learned to deal with the pain, and not to fear it.

It wasn't always just a lack of logic that drove her to such lengths, though. Beneath the stupid bravery laid an intense loyalty, and while she was physically weak and tiny, she would do whatever she could to protect her friends--she'd take a concussion, two black eyes, broken bones, anything. So, due to constant efforts to make sure that the people she cared for were not hurt, her fearlessness would be made quite apparent--like scrambling up trees to help out friends, only to fall out herself. Because after all, she couldn't just go about her life. She had to show the world that Karilyna Kawahara was fearless.

Of course, she had not simply moved on from a rocky early childhood unaffected, but while those events could've very well broken her, Karilyna let them build her. To make her stronger. Sure, there would be hard times, and she of all people could understand that life wasn't easy, but her past experiences had only made her bolder. She would command her fears, not give in. She would face them head on.

Ability 2/2: Terrible Presence
Reducio
Looks could be awfully deceiving. At the surface, Karilyna was a small girl with rather large brown eyes, and appeared thoroughly American in accent and mannerisms. (Of course, she'd been born in Japan, but nine years of living in America had certainly had its effect.) If one knew her well, they'd know that she was an adventurer, as well as more than happy to put classes and grades on the back burner for something more exciting. Personality-wise, the raven-haired girl was friendly, loyal, and a good friend--if one didn't mind her accidental bluntness. But through it all, there was a very different presence. Something that seemed wrong. It was dark, chilling, and almost sinister.

Now, Karilyna was not at all evil. Though she was often outspoken and sometimes rude, there was nothing inherently malevolent about her. The darkness was hard to place, almost like an ever-changing shadow that was simply there. Even though it had never been very obvious--not even to Karilyna herself--it had always been about her. But nobody had ever called it out.

It'd all begun--like pretty much every other remotely major event in her life--when she'd been orphaned. Though she had been almost impossibly cheerful about the whole situation, there seemed to always be a monster trying to break free from within. At a young age, loneliness had been a prevalent issue for Karilyna. Being alone only brought reality crashing down on her, slowly untying the bonds that kept all the emotions bottled up inside. It made her angry and fearful at the same time, yet craving revenge on whatever force had just about robbed her of a proper childhood. A lot of times, there would be a slight shift in mood. Literally. The darkness would ultimately prevail, even if it was for just a moment, and something about her simply wouldn't feel right.

There had been plenty of things in the girl's life about which she didn't understand. But it was in the little misfortunate happenings where you could see at least part of the reason behind it. It had always appeared to Karilyna that people liked her and wanted to become her friend, for she'd never had difficulty gathering a group of people she trusted. And in a way, it was true—she was quite the outgoing child, always willing to include people and extend an arm where it was needed. It was hard not to like her. But what she didn't notice was the equal number of people--if not more--that distanced themselves from her, and sometimes even made conscious efforts to do so. Perhaps her charm simply didn't extend that far, or…there was something that didn't exactly seem right about interacting with her.

When people neared her, it was an almost-tangible feeling of something like fear that would hit them, appearing to roll off the Thunderbird. It tended to take people by surprise, and pushed them to give her a wide berth. Children--particularly her equals--would typically feel uncomfortable around her, a dark something settling in the pit of their stomach. A feeling they couldn't put a name to. Some were able to simply ignore this, choosing to enjoy Karilyna's company while conveniently pushing it away, but a few others were quite frankly afraid of the underlying presence. While in Muggle school, she'd seen all of these types of people, yet not understanding why they did what they did. She was bullied by some who chose to cover up their fear with a rude and aggressive front, and saw schoolmates who literally ran away, wanting to avoid contact with her at all costs. It was a shame, really, that this was true, for it was all a result of what she was keeping to herself.

See, of course Karilyna disliked the fact that people would choose to avoid her, or that there always seemed a tiger wanting to break loose in the loss and hurt she hid away in the back of her mind, even from herself, but the truth was, it was there. True, it was irritating, but she could be strong. She had to be.

Hadrian Zuheir's Abilities: Cat’s Grace | Fearless | Charmer

Cat’s grace
Reducio

Hadrian lived an extremely privileged childhood in the Zuheir Manor. Without so much as a request, the boy was provided with everything he wanted, needed and required. As the oldest child and her father’s successor, Hadrian was free to do anything he pleased. That was until he enrolled into school. To be frank, Hadrian never liked a majority of his first year in school. His former lifestyle was suddenly stripped away. It did not matter if he held his father’s last name, he had little to no authority in the halls of Ilvermorny, at least not in the beginning.

At school were rules limiting the boy from achieving things in what he saw was necessary, teaching the pudwedgie kid who called him out for a foul move during the quidditch game for example. Throughout the year, Hadrian caused but had never got into trouble. He had learnt how to manoeuvre around the hallways swiftly, crouching low under the concealment of shadows lingering in the corner as those with authority neared, slinking silently near the walls to avoid the weary patrolling prefects after curfew.

Hadrian further honed his skill when he was given the role as a prefect in his second year. Boy, did he enjoy the authority that came with it. Simply, catch the shenanigans and make them do your dirty work. Hadrian delivered countless detentions. With such grace, the student never saw him coming and never got the chance to conceal whatever they were doing in the first place.

Even after the school year ended, Hadrian stepped down as a prefect, despite the authority it gave him he had already established his presence in the school. He still continued utilising this skill, this time for a cause more significant. Despite Hadrian’s father currently the head of the Zuhier household and wealth, to his own direct family, had an older cousin and was entitled to inherit the Zuheir wealth. It was simply how the Zuheir tradition was, there was nothing much Hadrian or his parents could do. But ambitious he was to shove his own cousin out of this line and reign as the Zuheir successor. On one summer, his aunt and aunties came to stay in his family’s manor. Determine the young Zuheir was to find a flaw in Sharic, he began slinking into the young man’s shadows and watching him wherever and whenever he could. He moved with such grace, silence and skill.

His efforts were not futile. Very soon he found a flaw. Sharic had been using the floo to travel to England very frequently that it seemed suspicious to the young boy. Unbeknownst to Sharic, he had been followed by his younger cousin. Hadrian soon discovered that Sharic had been seeing someone. A secret sweetheart, one of impure blood. Not only that, Sharic had a betrothed. Hadrian did not hesitate to rat his findings to the rest of his family who were outraged by the news. It was not long before Sharic was disowned, his last name striped from him and Hadrian then became the Heir to the Zuhier wealth.

Fearless

Reducio
Hadrian was never always fearless. As a young boy, he had been afraid of many things, even the dark and the shadows scared him to his parent’s chagrin. His parents, the Zuheirs wanted him to be a perfect child so that he might succeed them in the future. He had to possess strong traits to command those around him. Fear, it was a trait that weakened the young Zuheir. With that amount of fear, he was not cut out for the role. Despite only being a boy, his father was determined to make a man out of him. Whatever it took, even if his childhood was stripped away from him.

To say the least, his father was not a very patient man, at least not in the eyes of the young Zuheir. Present, his father certainly succeeded but if there was one thing Hadrian now feared, it was his father. The intimidation the man possesses is powerful and Hadrian wishes to follow his footsteps in order to possibly become a man as significant as his own father one day.

His father went to great deals to remove the stubborn fear in the child. For such a feat, his father allocated a room, where Hadrian were to face his fears every week. The room waas down in the cold basements of the Zuheir manor. The boy dreaded being in the room, it brought nothing but bad terrible memories. “It is for the best,” he always told Hadrian. At five years of age, Hadrian was locked in the room and only allowed out once he stopped weeping and acknowledged that darkness could never hurt him. Once, he was only allowed out when he had slaughted an acromantula half his size with a dagger. At first, the boy had been afraid to go near the eight legged creature but soon, after avoiding the large spider for hours, he had gotten both tired and hungry. And so his own survival instincts kicked in and he slayed the creature and he was hten allowed out.

For two years, the room had been used to shape Hadrian and make him stronger. The times he visited the room got lesser as Hadrian became less fearful. Soon, Hadrian nothing could spook the teen. At 10 years old, he was as close to a fearless person as he could be.

I am not able top give you the role of Prefect as that gives you authority over other students in character from this portion of the setting. I would need to seek further approvals regarding this. Update: No longer Prefect.

I contacted the Lore Team regarding the Floo Network. I am uncertain if the Floo Network between the states and the UK is a thing. They might be separate. Update: There would be floo between the states and the UK but it would not be something in a private home, it would be akin to an airport for wizards basically found in magical communities. So you would have one that brought people to Diagon Alley for instance.

Colt has a knack for not letting things get to him. His family's location would probably be playing a part of such a result, considering the lad's family lives five minutes away from a beach. There's also the obvious factor of the family itself. His mother chose the low-pressure path in terms of her career, mostly to spite her parents but it's also due to the fact that she has lived through and seen the damage the pressure of a high-demanding job can do unto people. His father was luckier on his own upbringing since his parents never expected him to reach anything. It's not that the parents didn't think he'd amount to anything, but it's because they had lived a mediocre life that barely scraped by, they thought that he'd be lucky if he'd get a decent job.

The undemanding family values are passed down by the current generation, and Colt's brother is proof of that. They didn't pressure him into being an Auror, nor have him pursue the career paths that they've chosen themselves. The outcome of that is a decent photography job for their town's local Wizarding newspaper. It had fairish pay, but Colt's brother is more than happy with what he'd chosen. Colt himself was no exception to the rule either. His parents nor his big brother pushed into one path or another, so the result was him trying (or probably not trying at all) to figure out his own path.

For Colt himself, having self-inducing stress and pressure will lead to bad "vibes" or "juju" and he would most of the time stray away from that. He even takes his philosophy with him physically, since he doesn't usually clean himself up, letting his hair grow to his shoulders and having a strange reasoning with showers and avoiding them (thankfully he tries to get a swim in the beach every chance he gets so his personal body odor isn't that offensive to the nose.) If a fight would break out in front of him, he would personally step in and try to mellow out the participators, either from his naturally slothlike voice or from just doing a chill joke. Unfortunately, it would usually end up in him getting a punch square in the eye, but at least he could say that he tried. Even if someone were to punch him, it wouldn't faze him in the slightest, since he's used to taking hits. Though, it would be due to the fact that he has given himself a lot of pain from ill-advised bets such as trying to put a diaper on a squirrel and ending up getting attacked by a whole clan of them.

Name: Olivia Smith
Age: 11
School year: First
House: Thunderbird
Race: Human
Blood Status: Muggleborn
--------------
Appearance:

Olivia has long, straight, dirty blond hair cascading down her back although you'll probably never see how long it truly is. She always wears it in a high ponytail so it won't fall into her face, covering her baby blue eyes. Her skin is tanned due to her many days at the beach, one of the many perks of literally having a beach as your backyard. Olivia currently stands at five feet, tall for her age. Her usual outfit is a tank top, ripped jeans, and sandals. She might also add in a sweater if it's cold.
FC: Sabrina Carpenter
--------------
Personality:

Ever since Olivia was little, she would go out often to discover new places. Every new day was a new adventure for her. Her parents would drive to places where they could do muggle activities like hiking and camping. Olivia was also quite confident and intelligent. Making friends at her muggle school was easy because of that. She was always known as that outgoing smart girl and her friend's parents would always approve of her. They always say that Olivia was a 'good influence'.
--------------
History:

Olivia was born on May 20, 2009, in the middle of the night to her parents, Amelia and Robert Smith. Due to being muggle-born, she had no idea about the wizarding world...well, until she got her Ilvermorny acceptance letter. A wizard knocked on their front door and he gave Olivia the letter when she opened the door. He then proceeded to the living room and started to talk to her parents. At first, her parents thought it was just a joke. Something to make them look like a fool but after quite a lot of questions and answers from the wizard, they finally gave in. Magic was really real and their daughter, Olivia, was a witch. Before that, she just had a normal muggle life. Going to her muggle school and going off to explore new places every other day. Because she always went off on her own, her parents didn't really care. It wasn't that they didn't care about her, it was just that they knew she would be fine on her own. She was pretty smart and social so if she was lost, she would just ask someone where she was currently at. The first time Olivia accidentally used magic was when she was around six. She was just looking outside at her backyard, where her parents were building a swing for her. It was quite a windy day so as her parents worked, the tree behind them slowly fell. Oliva stared at her parents and screaming at them about the tree but they couldn't hear her. She didn't know what to do so she just stared at the tree. Somehow, the tree stopped falling and just hovered above her parent's head. It was an extremely weird experience but her parents just thought that something must've gotten stuck and stopped the tree. Once, Olivia heard that she had a distant relative, the brother of her father's brother's wife's daughter, who was around the same age as her and lived in London. She always wondered what life was like living in London that she always asked her parents. They didn't really know much since they've never met but they knew that they were called the Carsons and they had a daughter named Melissa...

Olivia was always very nimble when she was little. It was useful to her because she was always discovering new places and forests. Growing up, she has had multiple narrow escapes from things but she had never gotten hurt before. It was...strange. She could just get out of the way of things before anyone else. Sometimes it would be like she knew that something would happen before it happens so she wouldn't get hurt. There was this...feeling inside of her. Anyways, when she told her parents about that, they were always like, "How could you possibly sense danger? You must have a really quick reaction time, that's all."

The first time it happened was when Olivia was 5. She was exploring the forest she was camping at that weekend. Her parents had let her go off and explore on her own while they cooked dinner. She was fine, climbing trees and all...until she reached a river. The river looked perfectly fine although you couldn't really see the bottom. Olivia was just about to cross when she saw something in the water while having a sudden tingling feeling and stopped abruptly. Then, a crocodile suddenly swam up with its mouth open. Seconds later, it snaped it's jaw shut. If Olivia hadn't stopped, she would've lost a leg if she was lucky.

Traumatized, she ran back to her parents as fast as she could, somehow dodging every single tree branch. When she got there, she told them every single thing, including the smallest details. They were both very worried that they drove home, abandoning their plans for the weekend. Olivia spent the entire weekend in her bed, trying to forget about her experience but little did she know that there were more coming her way as she grew up. Her parents would always say that she was lucky she stopped, but Olivia always thought that it wasn't a coincidence her body stopped moving seconds before the crocodile came. It was like something inside of her knew that there would be a danger of some sort coming.

Another traumatic experience for Olivia was when she was at the beach. She was there quite often so it was just a normal day for her. She was just doing her homework from her school while enjoying the late afternoon sunshine. All was calm and peaceful until there was a rumbling sound mixed with waves crashing. Everyone at the beach looked around but saw nothing that could make such a sound so they resumed their activities. They all ignored the sound that was getting louder and louder, thinking that there was just someone playing extremely loud music and going towards them. Then, it happened. The sound was so loud that everyone looked around again. There was a giant wave coming towards them and it was extremely fast. Olivia climbed up the stairs as fast as she could without thinking. When she reached the top, the wave was already closing in fast and multiple people were swept into the sea. Thank god the walls were tall enough because the entire neighbourhood would've been flooded. When the waves died out, there were maybe hundreds of people looking out to the sea. Although most people made it to safety, many did not and were washed away, never to be seen again.

Olivia's parents were once again very worried. They honestly just thought that their daughter was smart and very very lucky to have escaped but Olivia once again knew they were wrong. She wasn't even thinking at that time. She just ran when she felt that something was going to happen the moment the wave came into view.

There have been security changes in the school. While most of the other students had not noticed, you had. There were simply more people. Nobody introduced them, but there were extra adults. Somber expressions, always well-dressed and patrolling the grounds particularly at night.

Phylicia Stanwood was tough. It was apparent even when she was a toddler; if she fell down, she was going to get back up. Throughout a childhood full of often reckless pursuits of excitement, scrapes, bruises, and the occasionally broken bone were common. She was quite the adventurous little thing, and when she played, she played hard. She was always outside, running around, climbing trees, doing cartwheels, flying her toy broom, and generally looking for any way to have fun.

Over time, her outdoor activities strayed away from simple playing and more into improving her physical abilities. Her endurance was possibly the only thing she admired about her family; Stanwoods were known for never giving up. Granted, the things her parents worked at until they got what they wanted were hardly admirable, but she was going to be different. Better. And that started by being the best broom flier out there.

Zipping around the grounds surrounding her family's manor brought a whole new set of dangers. See, when Phyllis flew, she only had one speed: fast. The little girl didn't know how to go slow; she was in it for the rush of adrenaline, the feeling having the wind streak past you. Instead of the occasional tumble out of a tree, now she was running straight into them, along with boulders and the occasional fence. Perhaps the resulting head trauma caused her to become even more reckless and stupid, but she never once cried. Instead, she always got back up, grabbed her broom, and walked back to the house to get fixed up.

This resilience wasn't just physical, though. Sure, she could take her fair share of hits and keep going, but getting up required a mental aspect. She knew how to shake things off. She chose to be optimistic, to believe even through growing up with parents that mostly ignored her that things could and would get better. And if she believed there was always a light at the end of the tunnel, it was easier to get back up.

In addition, over the course of her first year she took to running in the morning. It wasn't as amazing of a feeling as zipping through the air on her broom, but it still felt good, feet pounding on the ground, propelling her forward. By the end of the year she could go a pretty long time without having to stop or slow down. She felt ready to face whatever came her way. Felt ready to keep pushing through.

In addition -- there have been some changes at Ilvermorny since last year at the dance. Lazarus Plott, the Headmaster of the School had for the duration of the school year after "the ball" as some of the survivors simply called it left the school in the capable hands of the Deputy Headmaster. The year went without too much excitement, at least from your perspective. Nothing got set on fire, nobody got stabbed. However there has been increased tensions in the school. The school was stricter about the notion of seeing Muggleborns head home. "It was too dangerous" most of the staff claimed, citing the Coronavirus as well as American rioting as primary concerns for the wizard children. Many of the muggle-born children never went home to see their families this year during breaks. Those that were highly insistent had but they probably won't be given the option next time you fear.

Healing Sage (490 words)

Gregorí was a Muggle science enthusiast, this was no secret particularly to those who were close to him. Among all of the science branches, however, he liked biology best. Even though his ambition was to be a Muggle scientist and not a healer or a Muggle doctor, he realised that he had a natural knack in the art of healing.

The boy sighed as he remembered his dream. A scientist or an astronomer... how wonderful it would be if he only could be one. But what could he do? As a child from a family of seven with low income, it would be impossible for his family to send him to a Muggle university to study what really interested him. Scholarship was an option, but then again, usually it covered only the university's tuition fee and not the living cost...

And even if I do study biology or astronomy, Gregorí told himself, where do I suppose I will go after the university? Becoming a teacher was out of question since he was terrible at communication. To really pursue a career as a scientist, that means he would have to venture to the States; as far from his hometown as it seemed, that would be the nearest option. The choice to live as a Muggle scientist was scarce in Mexico.

And now, here he was: in Ilvermony School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, in the wizarding world. If he wanted to pursue a career which still had something to do with science, he might have to try to be a healer - that is, as long as it would not take so much time as the study to be a Muggle doctor. Doctors, he knew, took at least six years to learn when they were university students. And he did not want something like that; he wanted to help support his family economically as soon as possible, even though he also loved learning.

Gregorí stood up. Yes, a healer might have to do.

So from that time, he studied hard on healing potions and healing spells. Learning about healing potions and how to brew them was easier, as they were taught in class. Healing spells, however, was more difficult to access. They were not in his syllabus yet, and now that summer was approaching, it would not be an option to check out a library book of healing spells and practice them at home, in the Muggle world.

After racking his brain for some time, Gregorí had an idea. Maybe he could learn them next academic year at school; and for now, he could try improving his medical knowledge and ability in the Muggle way. Who guaranteed that it would not be useful for a healer? After all, magic did not solve everything, and Muggles also have strengths wizards should learn from.

And that was what the boy did. He spent his summer break studying Muggle's first aid techniques and their medicine.

Terrible Presence (407 words)

Gregorí did not want it. Well in fact he did not even realise it; but - people tend to be afraid of him. One look at the Mexican boy's face and most of them preferred to stay away, out of trouble.

They did not even get the feeling that they were wrong.

Gregorí Erkens was one of the kindest souls to ever walk on earth, but his appearance did not say so - even betrayed it, if you must say - and thus, a lot of people did not believe that anyone who could win him as a true friend would be very, very lucky. Such a shame, and everything was due to the misleading prejudice humans very often had upon others because of physical appearance.

The boy had a tendency to appear very serious, and of course he himself did not know this because no one could see his or her own face except when it was reflected on a mirror. However, for some, instead of looking serious, Gregorí looked like that he was in a bad mood.

"I wonder why he always feels so angry all the time," a classmate once complained about him; but because she did it behind his back, there was no way our Mexican boy knew about this. Like most normal people, he did not feel angry all the time, but his facial expression was interpreted as such by some.

"It's not that we don't want to talk to Gregorí," one of his Muggle classmates (from his Muggle primary school, naturally) tried to explain to the teacher why the other kids did not invite Gregorí to play with them. "We're scared of him. We do want to play with him, but then we always decide not to when we look at his face. He's... well, scary!"

And so it went on and on, and on, and on. Gregorí Erkens was intimidating. Gregorí Erkens was a boy who was perpetually in a bad mood.

His shyness did not help making a good impression. The Latino wanted to make friends, but he had no idea what to talk to others. He was not good at small talks, and his communication style preference was straightforward, "let's get down to business right from the start". He did not read between the lines; he was brutally honest without even meaning to be rude.

Ah, life! If only they could see how lonely and kind he was!

There were a lot of rumors regarding the last time Ilvermorny came to Hogwarts -- "a nexus for disaster" one boy in Potions gossiped. However, what was going on in Hogwarts had been going on in other places, Ilvermorny included. The major difference, Ilvermorny was better at sweeping these incidents under the rug. Perhaps they also excelled in preventing a dramatic climax, despite their headmaster's love for overdone. Gregorí saw one of the Professors get arrested, their Charms Professor. He did not know why, nobody seemed to be willing to talk about it. In fact, when people asked about the former Professor the subject was abruptly changed. It was just odd.

House: Pukwudgie

Blood status: wizard-born
Appearance:
Reducio

Hair/Eyes

August doesn’t know the definition of the words ‘fit it’. His hair is a bright blue, which is, of course, dyed. You can never be quite sure, but he is most often seen with eyes that are stunningly emerald colored, due to the use of contacts. On occasion they are purple, but this is only when he wants to shake things up.
Of course, before he decided to do-up his look a bit, his hair was blond. Boring. His eyes have always been light blue, but that clashes with his dyed hair, hence the use of contacts most days.
Clothing

August is often found wearing a plain white t-shirt and jeans, along with ankle hiking boots he had been given for his birthday . A singular black rubber ring sits upon his center left finger, which is there to describe himself. It has the word "cessabit" which means calm in Latin.

Calm. Extroverted. Fun. These are pretty much all synonyms of August. He can be spontaneous at times and always enjoys a good hug when he's feeling low. He never does something just to get attention, there's always a reason of why behind it. Usually, more often than not, the why is Fun!
His heart drives him more so than his head, making it so that he can make irrational decisions for the right reasons. When he's feeling particularly sad, he tends to push others away, making himself seem selfish.
Still, he has a heart of gold and it is never his mission to make another person suffer.
History:
Reducio
2009
August was born on August 1st. Perhaps this is why his mom gave him his name, or perhaps it’s just because it’s a good name. Whatever the reason, he was a definite Leo (Zodiac) from the moment he was born.
August’s late father’s name was Jack, and his mother’s name is Juliet. August’s father, Jack, was lost before his son was born in a terrible broom crash. He was missed dearly by mother and children both, and although August had never known him, he had seen enough pictures and heard enough stories to be able to imagine what he was like.
2010
Juliet, August, and August’s siblings lived in a small house in Pennsylvania, USA. August had two older siblings, Hadley and Hayley, who were 3 years older than him. They were twins, and they all shared a squishy but cheerful room. They were always playing together, and Hadley and Hayley loved to dress August up in their clothes. August didn’t mind this, of course. He thought it was great fun. His favorite costume was a hotdog outfit, because whenever he wore it he always got to eat a hotdog to be matching.
2011
It had been a rainy day, which was absolutely boring. August had already finished two puzzles, finished building blocks with Hadley and Hayley, and even tried to grab his mother's wand (that had been stopped before anything had happened, of course)
Now what was he supposed to do? Growing very annoyed (partially because of all the sweets) August had stormed around the house in a very rare fury. His mother, knowing this was not normal August behavior, put a pot of boiling water on the stove to make noodles, because perhaps he was just hungry.
When at last August calmed down, at least for the moment, the pot of noodles stopped boiling. The water overflowed and dripped onto the floor. It was a wet disaster but the water wouldn’t stop coming. Pretty soon it cooled, and then turned so cold it was ice. When Hadley went over to touch it, her hand came back freezing.
It was a strange sight, and the weirdest thing was, August hadn't even meant to do it this time. Most of his mischief was on purpose, but not this time. This was much too magical.
“So, I guess I’m a wizard?” asked August hopefully, in his small 2 year-old voice. His mother nodded. That was the best moment of August’s life.
2012
Plenty had happened after this. August’s mother had her friend, Thalia over often, and she became almost like August’s second mother. She had even moved into their small house for a while, and it became even more cramped. Still, Thalia told them the best stories, and even demonstrated a few spells for them if they'd been good that day.
2013
Juliet met another special someone, and their wedding was short and quick. It all seemed to happen in an instant. August didn’t like this new guy… his name was Jonathan. What an icky name. They were great January through November, but as soon as Jonathan learned Juliet was having kids, he left, leaving August and the rest of the family alone once again. It was sad for all of them, but given all of the hardships they had faced, they would make it through this one as well. Thalia moved out, much to the disappointment of August.
2014
His younger twin half-siblings, Declan and Caleb, were born. August, being seven years old, wondered why he was the only one without a twin. He seemed to be the mediator between the two sets. He didn’t particularly enjoy being stuck in the middle, but at least he got the best of both worlds.
2015
Only a year until Hadley and Hayley went to Ilvermorny. Books were bought already. They started learning, practicing with sticks. Juliet wanted her daughters to be as prepared as they could. Hadley and Hayley could barely wait.
2016
With only 3-year old Declan and Caleb to keep him company, August moped around. The holidays were the best times, when he got to see his sister again. He would paint them all sorts of wonderful pictures.
2017
Declan and Caleb had their first sign of magic. They would both be attending Ilvermorny in time as well.
2018
Only two years! Declan and Caleb have formed a band, and they’re not bad at playing.
2019
Hadley and Hayley begin to teach August everything he’ll need to know about being an Ilvermorny student. He starts to wonder if he'll ever be good enough to get in.
2020
At last the time has come! Everyone is happy. The letter was well-expected, after the boiling pot incident. August supposed he’d better start caring about school, because this wasn’t just going to be boring math and things like that. This was going to be fun! He was going to be a Pukwudgie, he just knew it.

August was chill. He didn’t particularly care about anything much. Nothing really stressed him out, unless it was really serious. His aura put him and others around him in a state of calm that seemed contagious.
When August was small, he rarely threw tantrums. He would let his sisters dress him up, feed him, and even make rides out of laundry baskets for him, all without even a slight groan or complaint you'd expect from a young toddler. Even when he was upset it was hard to say he was mad or angry. He was just annoyed, and that was when you knew you were doing something rude or obnoxious. Irritating the young boy was hard.
As he grew older, the young boy got into painting. He joined a muggle class; he didn't mind muggles very much. In the end, they were all human, weren't they?
Unfortunately, due to getting a slight fever, he had to miss the first week of the class. When he finally got to go, the class went as he expected it should. The teacher directed them on what to do, handed out the supplies, and they started to paint. The classroom was fairy quiet, only small, on-topic and focused conversations could be heard.
Once the class was finished, everyone turned in their paintings. It seemed so simple, August could tell something had gone wrong. The look in the teacher's eye told him that much. He took to sitting in a small plastic chair by the window, waiting for his mother.
Once his mother arrived, the teacher went to speak with her. August couldn't hear what they were saying, but it went like this:
"Your son," said the teacher, playing with her necklace, "made this class interesting todau."
"Oh? How?" Juliet asked, raising an eyebrow.
"He was so-"
"Well?"
"He seemed to make the class so normal. I didn't have to tell a single student off for being unfocused or off-topic. It was like something out of a movie!"
"Is that a problem? Also, how do you know it was my son? I do suppose you'd think perhaps the class is just well-behaved?"
The teacher shook her head. "Oh, you should've seen them last week. Throwing paint, yelling! And I'm sure it was your son! That or magic. Really, it was strange."
Juliet looked appalled the muggle would suggest such a thing. This was a sensitive subject for her, after almost blowing her magical cover in her youth.
"There's no such thing as magic," she said curtly, and then turned on her heel.
August, who had been waiting patiently, staring out the window at a butterfly, followed his mother out of the door, not saying anything.
They didn't go back to that painting class, but luckily August continued on with painting throughout his childhood.
The older August got, the calmer he seemed to be. Not even the most important test, the most stressful day, or the most pressure-filled situation could shake him.
There was no doubt about it. August was just calm. No other word could describe him perfectly.

Whatever person first said, 'Just try your best' to a child, probably wasn't in the Belindez family.

Being a pureblood child in the Belindez family was more then just frolicking around a playground, making friends with whomever you pleased, and thinking that your 'best' is enough for anything you try.

Being a pureblood Belindez child meant doing whatever the family elder knew was best. It was appeasing the family's honor among other purebloods, and not just doing something with ninety nine percent of your effort.

Though Caroline's case was quite different.

Her mother, Mariana did exactly the opposite of obeying the family elder's rules. Instead of marrying the rich pureblood man they had arranged she would run off to the south and meet Caroline's father, a muggleborn wizard, James Carson. By the time Mariana's family got to her she was already pregnant with a child, soon to be called Caroline.

Caroline's own grandmother knew the baby would have to be raised correctly in order to become a proper heir of the Belindez legacy. What a terribly clever woman she was, in only the course of a few weeks Carline fear-mongered her own daughter enough to leave James without another word and in turn secured control over Caroline's life as future heir.

Many years later, when Caroline began to understand exactly how important perfection was, a single moment can come to mind, the moment when she truly understood that perfection wasn't an option in her grandmother's eyes.

It was a simple necessity.

Little Caroline was only five when she made this terrible realization,
being taken care of at a small day-care facility for a few magical children, and just like any other daycare there were the trouble maker children that every other child and caretaker just didn't like at all.

Are you really assuming that Carol was one of those children?
How bold of you.

In the eyes of any adult and responsible human-or even partially human-being she was the adorable yet amazingly talented child every other parent hoped for.

(I really do hope you know where this is going-)

A true teacher's pet is how most would identify her at this age, and honestly they were't exactly wrong.

At that specific date, the group of trouble maker children had made the terrible mistake of stealing a caretaker's wand for their own kind of game.

Those children, knowing exactly what they had done was 'bad' ran outside the day care facility and into the sidewalk right outside.

Carol had scene the rascals take the wand and made the terrible decision to follow them outside in hopes of winning back the care taker's wand.and gratitude

The girl was about to heroically shout;
"Get back here!"

When one of children fell back from the blast of an outgoing spell.

Caroline didnt have time to scream for help when the blast of an uncontrolled spell knocked her to the ground and in a state of pain.

An uncle of Carol's was in town that day, how lucky of her to be escorted home with a free lecture of how stupid her decision was.

However, the worst punishment was when Caroline had arrived home to see her grandmother's lethal stare, and suddenly feeling all the guilt she had ever felt before.

The day was a whole fiasco, obliviating nearby no-mag and making sure that no one would be sued or arrested.

"You will never do something like that again."
Ammi said without a singe of hesitation.

"Of course Ammi.."
6.) Backstory changes:
Reducio
As stated in her original backstory here, the blood traitors of the Belindez family fled to Scotland to escape many of the horrors family elders would deem fair punishment, there, Lucille's mother and uncle lived in peace and happiness not knowing their own distant relatives still had a grudge against something that happened years ago. The knowledge of any relations between Lucille's family and Carol's is hidden away with the Belindez family elders and Lucille's missing grandparents. The two girls have never once met each other, though soon that may change with the upcoming Ilvermorny visit to Hogwarts.

to be clear: the rest of Carol's original backstory is still canon, however, I wanted to change the fact the blood traitors fled to Europe were in fact related to Lucille.
