It was far too hot for Humphrey’s liking. But, alas, it does not become one as graceful as he to complain about such matters so, discretely fanning his face with his free hand, he graciously suffered in silence. It would not benefit his team (for he was such a wonderful team-mate as to think about their success as well as his own) to waste time when he could be locating the flag and winning the game.

It appeared as if one of his opponents, @Henry Holbrook, had not understood Humphrey’s sage decision as he instead seemed to elect to speak instead of search. As well as the boy’s dreadfully rude questions, his very appearance seemed determined to offend Humphrey’s gaze as, when he looked in the boy’s direction, he was met with something that looked more like a mangled ferret than a twelve year old. Humphrey sniffed twice, directing his roman nose up towards the air before haughtily responding, “I am the honourable Sir Humphrey d’Ogwarts. And who might you be?”

As he directed his questions at the bothersome badger, a figure suddenly came into his line of sight. A figure who did not even have the decency to bow before approaching without request. On sheer noble instinct alone, Humphrey immediately pulled out his sleek golden wand and exclaimed, “Incendio Duo!” in a loud, clear voice. Obviously showing her respect for Humphrey’s quick thinking, one of the girls from his team followed suit. Unfortunately, though fairly predictable as people can’t all be as skilled as Sir Humphrey, only Humphrey’s spell succeeded though, somehow, his target, a dark-haired fairly pretty girl, managed to dodge his flame.

Humphrey then proceeded to ignore said pretty girl’s attempt at a clever quip and instead turned to his teammate, @Ophelia Vanderbilt, and said kindly, “Don’t worry, I’m sure you will manage next time.”

Notes Reducio 1) General: Until recently, Dido has fully believed that she was in Ravenclaw and only realised she wasn't during an explosive and rather public encounter with Mikaela. 2) whoo!

Dido whirled around wildly as she searched the trees for the mysteriously beautiful creature. Somehow, in the blink of an eye, the alluring presence had suddenly disappeared, letting her snap out of her entrancement. This whole rainforest was odd. Things kept appearing and then slinking back into the densely packed trees, almost like the swift transformations Dido had come to hate in Transfiguration classes. Rubbing her eyes before pulling out her wand again, Dido glanced up at the girl she had noticed up in the observation tower. Was she responsible for the strange apparitions?

Content that the girl didn’t seem to be doing anything immediately, Dido turned back to Jada who was looking at her with a concerned expression. She smiled sheepishly at the girl, cheeks reddening, embarrassed to have been caught in a moment of such confusion. Opening her mouth to justify herself, Dido took a step towards Jada when, suddenly, the Slytherin let out a shriek, looking just past Dido. Dido spun around, moving to the side as she did and somehow narrowly avoiding the sharp claws of another jaguar. Too frightened to scream, Dido watched silently as the large cat, having missed Dido, set its gaze upon Jada and, crazed, made a wild rush at the girl. Thankfully, it seemed to have slowed since its first failure and Jada managed to successfully dodge its ferocious attack.

Watching it barrel past Jada, Dido let out a deep breath of relief before taking a few steps back and letting herself half-collapse into a tree, the bark rough and serrated against her back. Her eyes opened even wider when she heard Jada’s uncharacteristic question. Throughout their first year, Dido had only met Jada a few times but each encounter had mapped with Angel and… and everyone else’s descriptions of Jada as just another Tes. But Tes wouldn’t have asked that, would she? They were Slytherins. Though Dido supposed she was one too.

“Yeah,” she breathed, pushing her worries aside, “I’m good. Thanks. You?”

Dido paused to listen before adding, “Though we should prob-“

She cut herself short when she looked over towards where their team-mates had gone. Flashes of light glinted through the leaves. Flashes of fire.

“Maybe stay here actually,” she laughed breathlessly.

26TH OF JUNE, 2026 IN THE JUNGLE ARENA

ZONE 1 : CAPUCHIN MONKEYS
(Zone Modifier: -1 ACC)

With the departure of their favouvirte jaguar came the arrival of an arguably more menacing presence; capuchin monkeys. The pair could hear them long before they saw them and by then it was too late. One grasped desperately at Dido's wand whilst the other tried yanked Jada's. Fortunately, they both managed to keep their wands on them - for now.

When Henry and Avery walked over, they unwittingly drew the attention of some of the monkeys that had stormed the base. Trust Henry's luck to wander into the only area overrun by them. One of the monkeys tried to swipe Henry's wand, but his senses were keen enough to thwart its attempts. Avery simultaneously found herself in a brief tug of war with the monkey over her wand. The girl simply could not catch a break. Fortunately, she wound up winning.

ZONE 2 : NOTHING

It were as though those in this area had fallen victim to a basilik's petrification. Not a single soul stirred. Perhaps someone would soon snap out of it.

ZONE 3 : NOTHING
(Zone Modifier: -2 ACC, -1 STA)

Much like the previous area, there was nothing much happening here. At least the forest was pretty; covered in dense flora ranging from bright blues to pale pinks. Ophelia, Humphrey and Tina took charge and pushed forward from their previous area. At the same time, Denisse departed from her base and eventually ended up here as well.

Fawkes and Danielle finally recovered from their nasty encounter. It were as though the treetops disapproved of this, for a large leaf came fluttering down atop Fawkes' head. Whilst it caused her no harm, it was utterly incovenient.

ZONE 4 : NOTHING

With Denisse departing and Lauren seemingly frozen in place, it was up to Denise to hold down the fort. Although there was no imminent danger, she remained on her guard; ready to defend the base from any who dared to enter it.

HOW TO PLAY

The game ends when either team successfully retrieved the other teams flag to their base. Team Spider Monkey will be starting the game in Zone 1 and Team Sloth will be in Zone 4 at the opposite end of the arena. There will be at most 10 rounds, each requiring a post of 200+ words. Please make sure you include your character's stats in your post.

During the first round only, each team must state which zone their flag is hidden in to the thread moderator. You may chose to hide the flag in any of the 4 zones. The flag remains in that zone unless successfully discovered or moved through gameplay mechanics. Do not reveal in game where the flag is located.

Each round, everyone in the team must make at least one action from the Capture the Flag actions list, unless they are unable to act due to a status effect or restriction. These actions are zone dependent. The team scores points by making successful flag actions or interceptive actions towards a flag carrier. Please note that players may only move between adjacent zones and cannot skip zones while travelling.

At the conclusion of each round, the zone state map will be updated to reflect all player locations. Players may only target characters who are in the same zone as them at the end of the previous round. If a target moves out of the zone during the following movement phase, the action automatically fails, with the exception of Flag Intercept and non-magical support actions that include a chase mechanic. When performing these actions, the player automatically follows the target into the destination zone as part of the interaction.

If the action fails while chasing, the pursuing player is left behind in the original zone while the target successfully gains distance.

NPC: Master Florence de la Flordininatian XI

He was of true noble lineage, more noble than the rest.

And here he is, being tossed into a school with a bunch of prissy British kids, when he attended Ilvermorny, the best wizarding school in the world, in the country in the world, Florida, although he had to move to hostile Yankee territory up north in Yankee-land, or they call it, he can never spell it, Matamubets.

He is the eleventh of his lineage, in fact, his name is Master Florence de la Flordininatian XI, which is a rather beautiful and noble name, but Master Florence preferred Master Florence de la Florida Nation XI. He was apparently a substitute for this other British girl, for this purely British team.

It was so annoying, the British school, Hoggiewartiepotty or whatever it was called always dominates, and Master Florence did not like that. Well, to be fair, he can trace his lineage back to French, well mostly French, Spanish, and Italian ancestry, so he has European reputability.

Well, he disliked Hoggiewartiepotties except this one guy, Henry Holbrook. Florence didn't want to admit he had a crush, especially on a guy, and in his entire life, he never saw guys liking guys, so it might be such strange behavior.

No, no, I do not like Henry, it's just an obsession, no admiration! He thought angrily. He first met the boy, or well, saw the boy during his field trip to America, but a bit more south, and well, it's a crush love obsession at first sight.

He saw, three kids, and deeply prayed to the Lord that they ain't Hoggiewartiepotties, "Ye Hoggiewartiepotties?" he questioned, "Or whatever that fucking British snotty school is called. Eugh, eww."

He adjusted his suit, of course he was wearing a suit and exclaimed, "I am Master Florence de la Flordininatian XI, of the pureblooded Flordininatian, or as I would like to refer to myself, Florida Nation. And you are?"

It's been a while, and Denise had to admit she was rather a bit worried. It's been a while since she saw anyone other than Vanes and De Vera, and she was, well, a bit unsettled by the chaos outside Zone 4.

De Vera, perhaps also curious and a bit unsettled, moved to Zone 3, and while Denise felt a bit envious for having a clue about what was going on, she also didn't want to know what the hell was happening in the other zones, likely chaos and war. She didn't think she was actually missing the rest of the team, despite barely knowing them.

Fortunately again, nothing happened in Zone 4. Her zone was peaceful, and she didn't know what to do. Vanes, well, she didn't blame Vanes; clearly lost interest for now, and Denise was freaking out about what to do. There was literally nothing for her to do, and she felt a pang in her heart, a deep dread, and she didn't know why.

Ultimately, she chose to guard her zone, and, well, was there anything else she needed to do? She stood firm, her wand in easy grasp and reach, ready to prevent anyone from entering Zone 4, but no one came. If someone did intrude, she likely would have been successful.

Monkeys, great, that's exactly what we need, monkeys.
First heavy rains, then an anaconda, followed by a heatwave, and now monkeys.

Entry into zone 1 provided solace from the excruciating heat. I was no longer feeling lightheaded. The place had giant trees with their interconnected roots growing upwards. The scent of moist bark and wet soil filled the air. It felt quite peaceful... until I heard rustling in the trees, and screeches— monkeys.

Quickly enough we were surrounded by a few of them. One of them tried to snatch Henry's wand. Another landed right next to me and started tugging on mine. I held on to my wand tightly as if my life depended upon it... well it kinda did since I was a wizard and we were in the middle of game. The monkey pulled harder and I did the same. I yelled at the monkey, "Let go! Let go you silly monkey! As if yelling at it would work, it didn't budge even a bit. After a long moment of a constant tug of war, the monkey finally let go. I fell backward as I clutched my oh so precious wand tightly. I dusted of the soil from my clothes as I stood up. I looked at Henry, he seemed to have his wand in possession as well. I said, "Thank goodness we didn't loose our wands. That was a close one."

Even though it was a rough experience, I was grateful enough it wasn't another anaconda, or something worse.
