James understood Yuki's explanation, even if he didn't know what most of the spells were. He looked up  each of the spells in the book, and found what each of them did. Expelliarmus was a spell meant to disarm, finestra shatters glass, and stupefy made a person unconscious. He continued to practice spell casing by doing "wingardium leviosa." Suddenly, out of nowhere, an owl came down to give Yuki a letter. He had only seen letters given via owls when he got his Hogwarts letter, and even then he barely saw the owl that delivered the letter. This made James curious as to how exactly letters are sent. 

Owls were a very odd and eccentric way to send letters. James had only ever sent letters to his grandparents, because everyone else he could just speak to in person. He asked Yuki, "So how are letter sent, exactly?" James asked, placing his wand onto the table after many attempts of practicing spells, most of which succeeded. He wanted to send a letter home, but had no clue as to one would do that. James thought that Yuki would know, since she was much more experienced than James when it came to magic.

Kody held his hands up as if to pause what was going on. "Wait, wait, wait. So, Yuki, each member in your family can excel, greatly, very greatly, in one spell basically?" He cocked his head to the side as a dog would do. "Also, how do the owls know who and where to send letters too?" He asked curiously, similar to what James asked her. 

Kody was still holding his wand loosely and tried, Wingardium Leviosa, once again. "Wingardium Leviosa!~" he put enthusiasm into his words. made a 'U' with his wand and then flicked his wrist down. Copying what Alexandra did before, Kody lifted his wand in the air bit by bit. The quill started to climb higher and higher into the air. "It worked?" he asked himself, amazed. He tried lowering his wand slightly, the quill was still in the air. Kody tried flicking his wand downward to get the quill down. He gave up on his fifth try and grabbed it in mid-air. 

He turned to face James and asked, "Do you want to try more spells? Or should we still ponder over the owls and how they're able to navigate their way?" Kody tapped his chin, "Yuki, how do the owls know these things?" He expected Yuki to know the answer because she's the magic expert here. 

"To be honest, I don't exactly know ether. All I know is that someone like a higher rank person gives an owl a letter and then tells them the student that the letter is for. My brother tried studying what the owls do, but he died before he could finish his work. I know, I could ask my parents how it works. " Yuki replied to Kody and James.
She then put her book back into her bag and took out her quill, ink, and an empty scroll, and started to write.

Dear Mother and Father, 
I wonder, how do the owls know where to send the letters to where they need to go?
[font=Times New Roman]If you guys know how they work then send me back a letter and explain please. Thank you. [/font]

[font=Times New Roman]Yuki folded her letter up into an envelope. She was about to put her letter in her bag to send later, but an owl swooped down and grabbed her letter out of her hand so fast, it looked like the owl teleported.[/font]

[font=Times New Roman]"Well, I guess the owl is gonna take it?" Yuki said in confusion. She hoped the owl knew what it was doing and where the letter is supposed to go. All she could do now is wait for a reply.[/font]

[font=Times New Roman]It had been about 1&1/2 hours when another owl came back down to Yuki and dropped the letter in its mouth. Yuki picked up the letter and read it out loud.[/font]

[font=Times New Roman]Dear Yuki,[/font]
[font=Times New Roman]The conclusion I've reached is that the owls in the wizarding world are not the same as the owls in the human world. The wizarding world owls are faster, stronger, have longer lifespans, and are able to understand human speech. Additionally, they are able to magically locate anyone in the world, unless that person has used charms to conceal their location or prevent themselves from being found.[/font]

[font=Times New Roman]"I guess that's how they work." Yuki said after reading the letter to Kody and James.[/font]

James looked over at Kody, who had asked if they would preform more spells. James replied with a simple nod, before asking, "what spell should we do next?" James flipped through the pages of his spell book, searching for a possible spell to learn. The pages each had a select handful of spells on them, each with a bit of information on the spell itself. A few spells caught his attention, but their was nothing that fit a certain set of criteria James put up for himself and what spells he learned. James looked at the table and grabbed his wand, slightly holding it so it wasn't on the table. He glanced at the pages, each spell being different and unique. The more complex spells were totally out of the picture, as James tried to stay as close to the beginner level spells as possible. Offensive spells wouldn't work either, since they were in a large room where authorities were watching their every move, and not to mention all the people that would be watching them.

Oddly, Yuki, like James and Kody, didn't know how the owls worked. James watched as an owl snatched the letter Yuki was writing out of her hand. "I guess they can just sense letters, then?" James said, half-joking. He had a feeling that's how it worked, but didn't quite know if that was the real reason. "Owls are weird." James added, gazing at the owl who flew out of the room and into the unknown.

Going back to his spell book, James knew he had to go for a good spell that could be used at the table, but found nothing. Partially because he wasn't looking hard enough, but mostly because of the few spells they could preform. He stumbled a cross a few of the spells Yuki mentioned, but surely they couldn't use any of those in this environment. He turned his head to Kody and Yuki, who were also preforming spells at the time. "Do either of you have a suggestion?" James asked, slightly holding his wand above the table, patiently awaiting a response from either of the two.

"Maybe 'Aguamenti'? Or is thst one too messy, we could try one called...'Anteoculatia', it turns the foe's hair into antlers. We could try 'Aqua Eructo', it's very similar to 'Aguamenti' but instead it shoots a line of water, instead of just splatting it everywhere. Oh here's one I want to try." Yuki said back to James.

Then Yuki pulled out her wand and tested out a spell. "Expecto Patronum!" Yuki yelled out quite loudly. About one second later, a phoenix patronum appeared and flew around the hall for a little while, before coming back and landing in font of Yuki. The phoenix patronum bowed its head to  Yuki. Yuki reached her hand out. She didn't think the spell would work, it's an advanced spell and she only just started her first year at Hogwarts and she already did one of the most advanced spells.

Yuki gently placed her hand on the phoenixes head and petted it. When Yuki lifted her hand off, the phoenix raised it's head and placed its forehead onto Yuki's. Yuki felt so happy that she wasn't hopeless, she wasn't no longer the weakest in her family. As the phoenix lifted it's head of Yuki's, she felt that she might need her friend again in the future.

The phoenix slowly faded away.

James was quite intrigued when hearing the first few set of spells Yuki had suggested. All of them, however, were extremely dangerous to do in an environment like the room they were in. Anteoculatia, the second spell Yuki suggested, was probably the most tame of all the three. Still, he didn't really want to do that, especially since people were watching them. Both of the water related spells would get everywhere, and certainly make them lose house points, and he didn't want to be the cause of their house losing some points.

Out of no where, Yuki casted an odd spell James had never heard of before. Then, suddenly, the whole room, including James, saw as Yuki preformed a quite advanced spell for her year. James had heard the incantation, and was in awe when seeing the spell being preformed. A crystal blue phoenix emerged from Yuki's wand in an instant, and it felt almost as if she wasn't even trying. The phoenix eventually faded away, but James still had lots of questions. How did you do that? And what was that? were the two main questions that came to mind, but for now, James thought that if they wanted to practice spells like that, they'd need to go to a different place. "We should probably go somewhere else if we're gonna practice spells like that," James said, with his look still holding the same shocked and confused expression from earlier.

Yuki was surprised herself, and she may have gotten more attention then she wanted. When James suggested to go somewhere else, she said "Yeah, I think there is too much attention on me right now.". She wondered how she knew the spell, when her brother died she never wanted to do magic again, but when she got the invitation o Hogwarts she decided she was gonna give magic one more chance. It was all a blur, and Yuki couldn't remember where, or how she learned that spell.Maybe her brother used it before? She wasn't fully sure but all she knew was that she needed some more time to think about it.

Yuki and James headed to the courtyard to talk about what she just did. Yuki also remembered a bit of a glance of Kody following them. As they walked to the courtyard Yuki went into something she called 'Fading Memories', it's when she would space out into her memories. Yuki was trying to piece together the remaining memories of her brother Kiyo (K-eye-yo) or ones she tried not to think about much.

She wanted to find out where she learned that spell she used. The first memory that came into her mind was when her brother was heading into the secret train section in his first day of school, this was also the day of Yuki's birthday. When her brother got back from his first day at Hogwarts he had a big smile on his face.

Yuki and Kiyo hoped into the car together as their parents located where the restaurant that they were going to for Yuki's birthday was. At around half way through the trip back from the restaurant, they nearly got hit by a truck.

This did cause the car to almost fall of the curved part. Kiyo's door opened in the process and the car was tilted on his side of the car. Yuki reached her hand out to Kiyo, and he grabbed her arm. Kiyo was on the edge of a cliff and on the break of death, but when he saw the tears in Yuki's eye he whispered to her, "If you're ~ee~~~ do~n, jus~ say Expecto Patronum..." and he let go of her arm.

Yuki watched as her brother fell down the cliff into darkness. She didn't remember what he said perfectly, but she remembered him saying Expecto Patronum. When Yuki exited her spacing out moment, she saw James looking at her.

They were in the courtyard, and Yuki had tears in her eyes.

 

Before going outside, James grabbed a few of the needed essentials located in his bag. He put on a black, fur coat that was meant to be worn outside during the cold, unforgiving winters along with a pair of brown, leather protective gloves that were mandatory and on the school supply list. He also placed his books, most notably the book of spells, into his bag along side his quill and leather journal that he used to take notes. He placed his wand into the palm of his hand, gripping it firmly while they made their way to another room or section of the school. The two then charted to the school grounds, which was located just outside of the castle walls.

While walking to the school grounds, Yuki seemed to space out and stop where she stood. Not wanting to go ahead, James waited for Yuki. He waved his hand in front of her face, even snapping his fingers and few times. But nothing had worked. "So this is what I did at my old schools, huh?" James said, joking, of course. James took off his gloves and continued to try to get Yuki to snap out of her dozed state, but nothing would work. But, eventually, she no longer had a blank expression. James saw the Yuki was in tears, and asked, "what's wrong?" trying to comfort his friend, who, at the moment, did not look happy. It was odd. Yuki had recently preformed a spell that no first year could ever dream to conjure, but was crying, oddly enough. James was slightly confused, but focused more on comforting her than asking questions. 

Yuki heard James ask, "What's wrong?" when she finally got out of her spacing out. "Oh, um nothing, I was just spacing out into my memories while trying to find out where I learned 'Expecto Patronum'." Yuki replied to James.

She didn't want to worry James about what she just remembered. "We sould really get to the courtyard." Yuki said to James. As they resumed walking to the courtyard Yuki was having a conversation inside her mind while they walked. Why was that the memory that came into my mind. Why did it have to be the memory of Kiyo's death? And why did he say if I am...something, something, say Expecto Patronum? Yuki thought to herself.

She didn't understand why that was the first memory that came into her mind, or why her brother said to say Expecto Patroum if she was in danger or something, and why her brother suicide himself. Yuki wanted to find these answers, but right now she needed to make sure she her friends didn't get involved with her personal issues, she didn't want her friends to worry about her.

When they arrived at the courtyard Yuki noticed something strange, she saw a man walking up to her and James.

"Oh, okay." James replied, waiting to ask his questions till they got to the school grounds. Him and Yuki walked across the corridors of Hogwarts that led to the outside, but as they progressed, James got more and more impatient. He started walking at a quicker pace than usual, and the grip on his wand got tighter and tighter. He was so curious about the spell Yuki preformed in the hall. Expecto Patronum. What did it even mean? It was all so confusing, but he tried to get himself back to his patient, calm state as the two walked. While walking, he would preform subtle hand movements to practice spells. Of course, he didn't say the incantations, but wanted to get the hand gestures down so that he could easily preform them. They then say a door that led to the grounds, and James dashed towards it, like an animal hunting its prey.

Eventually, they reached the Hogwarts grounds located just outside the school. There was large amounts of greenery, and the school's Qudditch arena was visible from where they were standing. However, James and Yuki both turned their attention towards a man walking up to both of them. James, frightened and unsure of what to expect, backed away slowly with his wand raised slightly above his hip. He didn't even know what he was about to do, but knew that he was very startled.
