Cel followed her Hufflepuff friend’s gaze as she waltzed by, noticing the partnerless boy for once.

“But what about Eris?” she asked uncertainly, turning back to the Gryffindor. “Then she won’t have a partner.” Should she offer to let Eris take him instead? She didn’t really know… and approaching a stranger did allegedly make her a bit nervous. Just a bit… fine, more than a bit.

She truly did feel bad about leaving her friend, though, especially after she had been the one to offer. You couldn’t have a Feyre without a Rhysand. That was kind of the whole point of the book.
And Mariah, too, was partnerless, though she seemed perfectly content waltzing alone in her own whimsical invisible partner. But she had pointed him out to Cel, not for herself. Maybe Cel should do the same.

Ah, the wonders of inexperience.

She'd never so much as had a conversation with someone her age before Hogwarts, much less started one. The only 11-year-old friends she had had all been made in the past year, and even though she was finding the task less difficult and intimidating than it had seemed, she still preferred hiding out, pulling out a book, and reading while hoping not to be noticed by anyone.

Now, though, in this dance lesson, she was pretty sure she couldn't sulk in a corner-- at least not without standing out. How ironic.

"Hmn?" Now Siege didn't what the hell her problem with him was, or why she was being a pain in the arse like this, but Siege didn't and normally wouldn't care for it. Now she, whoever she was, didn't particularly interest him, nor did she intrigue him in any way, shape or form. To him, she was just an ordinary girl trying to be all that for her friend, sure he understood it. He's met people like that, being protective of their friends, and hell, he's fought a fair few. "Alright whatever you say, I'm tired." Siege would say indifferently, he himself shrugging and turning back to the girl indifferently, as if he never glared at someone at all.

He let her guide his hand down to her hips, as she had intended to do in the first place. His hands would gently hold her as they began to do...whatever it was she wanted to do. He didn't have any idea as to how to dance, nor did he have the motivation to do it. Hell, but it beats out there patrolling, or studying, so why not? He'll give a little bit of time to the girl in front of him for just a little bit.

Siege's lazy and bored stare would land in her own glaring gaze, looking up at him as she tried to teach the unknowing boy how to dance. Not once would his gaze falter, cause even a stupid boy like him knows passion when he sees it. It seemed like the girl knew a lot more than him, then again he's never even tried dancing before nor will he ever at the rate things are going. His body was too rigid, his hardened bones and muscles and his lack of flexibility didn't exactly help him either, if he even tried to dance even with the slight effort, he'll probably look like he's doing the robot dance.

He wasn't used to being taught like this. He wasn't used to being taught at all! He learned to eat by himself, he learned to fight by himself and learned to survive Glasgow by himself. He's a good learner, no denying that, but he's not someone to like what he's learning or the one that teaches it. Especially the ones teaching. He didn't know what to think about the girl in front of him. Should he be friendly? Seeing as she's Serena's friend too? Or should he be what he usually is...Which is what he is right now, indifferent to the girl.

Siege gave a slight yawn as he still tried to practice with the girl. He was someone that looked confident nonetheless, he didn't really care what anyone thought of him, he just was there to pass time and watch out for the girl he had some feelings for. Come to think of it, he still didn't know what the hell the girl in font of him's name was. He still didn't know, Serena's never mentioned her and he only vaguely remembers seeing her once, during the snowball fight.

-Ah what a drag, I'm stuck here...Guess I'll stick around, better than patrolling or reading anyways. But damn...I hope she's fine...I swear if she even flinches I'm taking her back to the hospital-

His eyes would momentarily drift off to Serena's direction again, before looking back at Reyna's stare. He wasn't sure if they'd already let go of their glaring nature, but it mattered not to him. He either looked bored or just flirty, or maybe both, it really didn't matter. After all, he wouldn't know he was doing anything. Has she done dance before? She probably has, Serena seems to know what the hell she was doing, is he the only one who doesn't? I mean, sinking your fist into someone's face was way easier than dancing, if dancing was easier Siege would be a master at it, better than hitting someone, at least Serena wouldn't be upset about anything if he never had the need to hit anyone.

Did she know him? I mean it mattered very little to him if she didn't, but if she knew him, or of him, why doesn't he remember her? Was she just that insignificant to him? Then again there's only barely even a handful of people that he might consider noteworthy and one of them is dancing, at least having some fun, with some boy that's not him...That's nice.

His eyes would not budge from their stare in Reyna's eyes, testing the passion and the steel behind what she spoke. Siege didn't care for what she spoke, but he knows how to spot passion when it is in front of him. It's something he's seen countless of times, something that he's admired and something that he has even seen in the eyes of those against him as his fists and feet struck them down to surrender.

He knew that Reyna just wanted to protect her friend, but dear god, at least see that he's friends with her too...

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Tread carefully.

Marissa started to daydream, thinking about dancing and all the romance came with it. Obviously, it was silly for an eleven year old to think about love. She watched all the others get into partners, placing their hands on where the professors said to place. Mari was slightly jealous of this, seeing people finding friends so easily as well as plucking up the courage to ask someone to dance with them.

She instantly snapped out of this daydream as soon as James came into her eyesight. He was walking over to her. Have I done something wrong? Does my dress look weird? She low key panicked as he continued to advance to her. He asked her if she wanted to dance. WHAT? Is he that desperate? You're obviously his last choice. Her cheeks instantly got a red tint to them as she looked up to him. She slowly nodded and took his hand.

Marissa stood up awkwardly, having no idea what she was doing. She did what the professor said to do a placed one hand onto James' shoulder, and then her other hand holding one of his hands. Please for the love of god, do not let me hands be clammy now. She smiled nervously to him before glancing around the ballroom, looking to see if anyone was staring at them.

James smiled as Marissa nodded and then took his hand. She stood up with him, and they stepped slightly to the side onto the dance floor. Marissa was blushing slightly, which James thought looked cute, and she put one hand on James' shoulder while keeping the other one with James' own hand. She smiled nervously, and then started glancing around them. James figured she was self conscious and worried she would mess up or something. James smiled lightly, putting his hand on Marissa's hip.
"Hey." he quietly prompted, wanting to get her attention. "How are you?" he asked, that being his normal way of greeting someone. "Listen, don't worry about everyone else. You're doing fine." James said, hoping he sounded reassuring for her.
James looked down at his feet, which weren't moving yet, because there wasn't any music. He looked back up at Marissa, and continued.
"You look great, by the way." James commented. She did, in his honest opinion. James let out a small chuckle, looking down at his own clothes. "Better than me, anyway." he joked, giving a shrug. He was referring to his hastily put on tie and somewhat wrinkly shirt. He actually didn't look bad, but he found that making fun of yourself is a good way to keep a conversation.

Make a dragon in your mind and then paint it on your shoulder.

Asteria walked into the ballroom and looked around, a bit uncomfortable at being here. Dancing wasn't really her thing, she was more into books and studies, maybe the occasional adventure here and there, but dancing? Never. However, the news that a ball would take place spread faster the fiendfyre, so she decided that she would at least attend the dance classes.  Asteria quickly made her way to a seat nearby and took a sit. "Urgh, I hope this is over quickly." Asteria muttered with a silent prayer, the last thing she wanted was to try to dance only to trip up and probably fall flat on her face in front of all the students here.

Asteria decided to watch those who were practicing for a little bit, the movement of their feet and the position of their hands. Despite not being a fan of dancing, Asteria had to admit that the Waltz was quite an elegant dance, like something out of a storybook. Deep, deep, deep down a small fraction of her did wish she could dance like that, however the whole idea of dancing was something Asteria preferred to shy away from, unlike her grandmother. Her fathers mother always tried to teach her how to be more "elegant and ladylike", more like her.
Somethings Asteria picked up on  and somethings, she did not. She'd rather just be herself, learn, and have some fun. She can't blame her grandmother though, her father came of a family wealth and prestige. Her mother was more or less upper-middle class and not nearly as stuck up as some of her fathers family. With a barely noticeable sigh, Asteria pulled out one of her school books and began to read it. "Maybe time will fly by if I distract myself a little bit." She said content with her choice.

As Marissa looked around the ballroom, no one really paid them any attention.. yet. She saw others pair up with each other and some new people enter. She glanced towards the ginger haired Ravenclaw girl who was sitting alone as she read a book. Marissa felt a tang of jealousy as she would like to be almost invisible like that, but she also felt sadness. She seemed so alone.

Marissa instantly flinched in surprise as she felt a hand on her hip. She looked down to see that there was one. Mari slowly looked up to see it was James' hand.. that made her feel slightly more better that it was not a random stranger. She slowly nodded in response to how she was feeling, Marissa was obviously nervous about being in a room filled with other people, especially ones that she did not know at all. James comment on how nice Marissa looked made her blush a tiny bit more. She looked down to their feet and smiled. "T-Thank you." She somehow managed to mutter. Marissa then giggled when he commented on how bad he looked. She looked at his clothing which was messy but cute. It gave him the cute nerd vibe, which Marissa strangely found cool.

She glanced around the room once more before looking up to James' eyes. She smiled nervously as they waited for more instructions. She felt pretty awkward about just standing here in this position. There was barely anything to talk about, so Marissa grew pretty anxious super quickly. She moved her eyes back to the floor and frowned slightly.

Winifrey pulled at the dress again. It was a little itchy. She didn't even know her mother had put it in her trunk before she left. It was a dress that her father had sent from Italy, one of the few gifts he had given that wasn't a picture. She couldn't say she hated the blue dress though. It was long, thicker fabric for the torso with light and airy fabric for the skirt. It brushed her ankles as she stepped into the ballroom.

Aurelia had invited her, but she had gotten lost again so she was a bit late. Her blue eyes quickly scanned the room, looking for her friend. That's when she spotted Asteria, one of the first people she met. Her eyes lit up as she made her way over, a grin appearing on her face as she looked at the school books next to the red head.

"Asteria! I have not seen you around," She smiled before sitting next to her.

Winifrey's eyes wandered around the room as the students danced. "Why aren't you dancing?" She asked quietly, her eyes turning back to Asteria. There were a couple of people standing off to the sides as well, Winifrey's blue eyes catching sight of Aurelia. She quickly waved, gesturing for her to make her way over.

After a couple of minutes, Aurelia was already giving up on finding a dance partner. There were so many girls and only a handful of boys. She sighed, maybe she should let the others have a chance to find a partner as she wasn’t that into dancing though she prayed hard that she would at least learn a few steps before the actual ball.

She looked around for -what she promised herself- the last time. Then she saw a familiar girl with brunette hair, she was chatting with another girl with fiery red hair. Winifrey caught sight of her almost immediately after she did. Winifrey beckoned her. Aurelia approached them, the hem of her dress tickled her knee as she did. Aurelia didn’t wear skirts and dressses often when outside of school, she’d rather stick with the plain old denims, it just wasn’t her type.

“Hey Winifrey. I am glad you came.” Aurelia said smiling as she sat down.

“I had no luck finding a partner to dance with. It’s almost impossible. I’m beginning to contemplate if I should go for the bloomfest ball.” She explained.

Aurelia watch the other students twirl around gracefully like the wind. Aurelia just wished she could learn how dance like them. She just needed a partner.

Ackerley has watched most of the students nervously looking around to find a partner. I feel for them. Which a small grin on his face, the professor of charm remembered his younger years when he was taking private lessons with his grandmother. He was lucky that it has never been a public activity and that nobody would actually see him dance. In his first few lessons, the young man has been terrible at it. It was why he had only started dancing in public after a few years of hard training. Matilda and Ackerley have been dancing together more times than he could count.

On different occasions,  the young man would ask her to dance. It was one of their favorite activities. In that sense, he was pleased that she had accepted to teach the students a small lesson on how to dance. At least, those who were listening would be able to demonstrate proper dancing for the ball night. It was his only wish. Seeing children that could not even dance was always something that turned his heart around. The man felt pity for those students. He could already think about how bad it would be if they were not listening today.

Ackerley returned his attention to the groups and smiled at them. Now that most of them had a partner, it would be time to explain a few new parts of this dancing lesson.

- Alright. Now that everyone has a partner, we will be working on specific parts of the dancing movement. Matilda already showed us the hand and body position. In that sense, I am expecting you to be able to do it right. Right now, I will be showing you the actual steps to take if you want to be able to follow the rhythm and to dance properly once the great day comes around.

The man had seen professor Rosier standing in a corner of the room. It was not too hard for Ackerley to exactly know what he wanted him to approve. The professor of Ancient Runes wanted to make some music for the practices. In that sense, Ackerley nodded his head in an affirmative way and returned his attention to Matilda. By surprise, he took her hand gently and positioned them in the proper position. They would be demonstrating the way to dance. Smiling at her and waiting for the music to begin, Ackerley started moving slowly, but with some sort of skills to demonstrate an example. He looked at Matilda fondly, it was a really great day.

- As you can see, we are moving together just as one individual. Just try to follow our footsteps. Three on each side. It will give you mobility, but also makes it beautiful for both dancers.

While explaining a little how to do the footsteps, Ackerley keeps demonstrating and counting each time he moved his feet. He expected the students to follow him so that they could all practice together.

Asteria was in the middle of the first chapter of her Astronomy book. She wasn't good at the subject and decided it would a good idea to take this moment to review the previous lesson in order to improve. As she was about to turn the page, Asteria heard a familiar speak from right next to her, looking over to her right, Asteria saw that it was Wini."Asteria! I have not seen you around,"  Wini said, a smile gracing her face. "Hello, Wini," Asteria said as she put a mark in her book and set it down. Asteria returned Wini's smile and went on. "I've been keeping to myself lately. I decided to work on a few subjects I've had some trouble with." So far classes here at Hogwarts have been much more interesting than at muggle school.

Asteria has been doing well in just about all but 2 or 3 of her classes. Charms and Potions have been her strongest suits so far and she was doing well in Defense against the Dark Arts and History of magic. However, Astronomy has never been something Asteria was good at and she has hit a few very small bumps in the road with Herbology. She decided that would have to change, Asteria hated the thought of getting a bad grade in anything. "Why aren't you dancing?" Wini asked her. Asteria looked over at the other dancers, "Well," She began. "I'm not really a fan of dancing. I'm more of an academic person, plus there aren't that many dance partners here, are there?" This was true, there were more girls than boys it seemed and some of the boys didn't seem too keen on the idea of dancing. Asteria absentmindedly tapped her shoes quietly on the floor and fiddled with her dance practice dress as she scanned the area, her green eyes taking in her surrounding.
She noticed that Wini began to wave another girl over toward them, the girl was familiar, she was in the same house as Wini and herself, she knew that much from seeing her around the common room. “Hey Winifrey. I am glad you came.” She said as she came up to the other two girls.“I had no luck finding a partner to dance with. It’s almost impossible. I’m beginning to contemplate if I should go for the bloomfest ball.” Asteria deiced to briefly return to her book, not wanting to intrude on the two girls conversation.
"- Alright." A voice came from what seemed, to Asteria for a second, out of nowhere. Asteria turned to her left toward the other side of the ballroom. It was Professor Blackburn, Asteria hadn't even noticed he was here."Now that everyone has a partner, we will be working on specific parts of the dancing movement. Matilda already showed us the hand and body position. In that sense, I am expecting you to be able to do it right. Right now, I will be showing you the actual steps to take if you want to be able to follow the rhythm and to dance properly once the great day comes around." Asteria felt the urgent need to melt into the floor right then and there. He would probably make those without partners find one and if he saw Asteria without one....where was an invisibility cloak when you need one? Asteria watched as Professors Blackburn and Barrows danced.
" - As you can see, we are moving together just as one individual. Just try to follow our footsteps. Three on each side. It will give you mobility, but also makes it beautiful for both dancers." Silently, Asteria prayed to the heavens that there was a way out. There just had to be one, "Why didn't I just go to he library?" She asked herself sadly.
