School Year or Adult Level: First Year
Character Stats: Stamina: 5 | Evasion: 7 | Strength: 10 | Wisdom: 8 | Arcane Power: 2 | Accuracy: 3
Age: 11
Date of Birth for my Character: July 1st, 2013
Weight: 79 pounds
Height: 4.8 foot
Build: Skinny
Species: Human
Before Hogwarts, Karina had few friends but they were really close. Before she was invited to Hogwarts, she went to the same school as her friends did. She often spent her free time dancing, drawing, playing with friends, and hanging out with pets and family. She is a really good dancer but of course has things to improve. She doesn't like to show-off to others and often tries to stay quiet with people she isn't close with. Before Hogwarts, her life was humble; she lived in a small house with only a brother and a cat as a companion. Her parents were always busy working and rarely spent any time with her. Usually when her parents were at work, Karina's Grandma would come over and baby-sit them. Karina loved to cook with her grandma when ever she came over. They would make brownies, pies, cookies, and many more sweets.
Karina's mom recently gave birth to a girl named Isla, but that was when Karina was already in Hogwarts. She was born in Russia but raised in America, where in her early life soon was moved to England to be closer to her parents' jobs. She lived in London with her family until received the letter to Hogwarts.
First Instance of Magic: A week before her 8th birthday, my character was out playing with her friends (Nina, Victoria, and Cora) in the park when a group of older boys walk up to them and start teasing them because the girls were playing a childish game of hide-and-go-seek. The girls were very confused on why these boys decided to pick on them. My character started walking backwards but tripped over a bottle, splashing the boys. The bottle was half empty but somehow the boys ended up soaking wet. "How was there so much water in that bottle enough to wet all the boys?" She wondered. Willing to learn more, she read so many books about water, but still found no answers.

A few things need to be edited before this can be approved:
-Your part-veela application reads as why your character would want it. Please edit it explain why and how your character is part-veela. Which of her parents, or grandparents is a veela? How does it connect to her? Yes, she can display the veela traits as well, but there needs to be an explain of how in the bloodline your character is magical and has veela blood.
-Your birthdate is too old for a first year. Current first years are born between 1st of September 2012 - 31 of August 2013. Please change this in your character settings and in your encyclopedia.
-The backstory you have in this application and on your encyclopedia do not match. They must match for paper trail reasons. Please change one or the other to match them.
-Your current backstory does not mention your parents. Where are they? They cannot leave the children alone by themselves during the day. An adult must look after them in some capacity, whether that be a nanny, neighbour, or one of the parents.
-Your character would not be able to do magic intentionally before Hogwarts. Please edit this out, or change it to make it unintentional.
-You mention the parents being muggle, but your profile card says wizardborn. Please change this as both or one of your parents would have magic.

Margaret—or "Maisie" as she is known to her family and friends—comes from a middle class Glaswegian family from the Southside. No, magic cannot buy you wealth nor happiness. Joy is a uniquely creative force, as her mother would say. It was joy that brought a couple together that perhaps never should have been in the first place.
The Gemmells were a line of very ordinary Scottish muggles—until the arrival of her father, Callum's letter of admission to Hogwarts. There, he would later met and fall in love with a young woman, Althia, who came from a longstanding magical family. Althia showed him the world in a new way, which was both as awe-inspiring as it was terrifying. Upon leaving the school, Callum struggled to balance the world he knew with the one he'd discovered.
Despite this and initial disapproval from Althia's family, the couple became a family. Callum struggled as a writer for both magical and non-magical publications alike, not having very many connections in either field, but he remained steadfast in covering the breaking political news of the day. Althia, on the other hand, was quick to start an apprenticeship at one of the dress shops in Diagon Alley. Although she began as a simple seamstress, she has worked her way up as a designer and dressmaker. Most recently, she has dressed emerging magical and muggle bands and artists, especially in Glasgow's underground music scene.
Because of the way the family has always straddled the magical and muggle worlds, it should come as no surprise that they felt it important to raise their daughter with a knowledge of both (while maintaining the statute of secrecy). In fact, her very name is a representation of that philosophy. She is named after each of her grandmothers: Margaret on her father's (muggle) side and Astele on her mother's (magical) side.
Her childhood was largely uneventful—a happy, ordinary one. Perhaps the only difficulty was a lack of income compared to some of her peers, but it was never so low that she felt unsafe or uncared for. So, she took pleasure in activities she had access to, including sewing to help her mother. It was through sewing, she experienced her first sign of magic: levitating scissors after an emotional outburst while they were dressmaking together. Perhaps she has a little bit of a flair for the dramatic when called for.
Her father’s patience and journalistic skills come through in her academics, which she has always taken seriously. Her parents have high hopes this will continue at Hogwarts, even if the transition to a fully magical environment is a bit tricky. Maisie has always been one to let her curiosity lead her and this has been the key to her academic successes. Outside of this, she is both intuitive and assertive, unafraid to follow the beat of her own drum. She is looking forward to what joys her formal magical education might bring.

Maisie had been playing in her mother's studio. This was a common occurrence as the flat in the city was anything but large. Every once in while her mother might ask her opinion, not that she had a great sensibility art yet. And one day, she was quite opinionated on how a dress should look (after being agitated earlier) that when her mother disagreed, the scissors floated up on their own and cut off the hem abruptly. There could only be one culprit.

Emery Albrecht was a peculiar child, interested in the strange yet beautiful world above him and around him as well as the secrets the books in his home contained. His parents Lestat Albrecht and Amalia Albrecht née Wolfe were fellow curse breakers who met during an assignment many years ago. Their love was quickly formed yet burned brightly like Fiendfyre never to be quenched. They were married solely a year after they formed an acquaintance. They were intelligent to wait to have children and though they were married young, their love birthed Emery in 1980. Emery was a calm child, worrying his parents with his lack of crawling, but began walking at a normal age. He learned to read young, at the bright age of four and books consumed his every waking hour. He led a lonely life according to others, but he was focused and enraptured by the worlds the books displayed, and he had no desire to make friends his own age. Outsiders of the family would notice a strange distance between him and his parents. No one would ever see why, but there were secrets behind those house doors they lived within. He was sociable, but his focus was to learn, and learn he did with apt focus, and enraptured delight. Born in Germany, he was tutored to be a mature, intelligent, and independent young student, and as expected, he attended Durmstrang at the appropriate age. Magic was beautiful to him, not just spells to learn and to copy. He saw the creativity in it, and the emotional catharsis within it. He viewed it as an art, a painful one, but a living one, pouring out from a person's discipline and imagination. His unique view allowed him to prosper at school, allowing him to graduate with higher-than-average marks, and gave him the opportunity to pursue any career that he wished. He began his adult life as a student lawyer, devouring wizarding law and expanding his perspective. His great dedication and love for the subject allowed him to quickly obtain a position as a barrister. A few years after, hearing the perspectives of the oppressed in wizarding society, his goal in life shifted, he began to advocate for the half-breeds. Hoping to see different perspective on this subject, he changed career paths and pursued a position in non-human relations for the German wizarding government. Eventually, at age 32, he was pleased to obtain a position as one of the non-human ambassadors for his nation. Years passed, and soon he was itching for a new career, a bad quality of his being easy boredom and easy loss of empathy that he easily hid. He left his high position in the government and began to pursue academics and research. He began as a graduate student once more, researching into the field of curses, the dark arts, and the ancient role of runes. He spent years in the frenzy of study, pouring his adrenaline seeking nature into finding more and more information and forming unique ideas in this field of scholarship. He became a respected academic soon in this field in Germany at the age of 40. When a position opened up as a professor for Durmstrang, he was excited to return to his old school to form and be a part of the new generation of students. Although there was great competition, he was hired as the new professor of Rune Magic. He has spent the last few years dedicated to this role and he hopes that this will finally be the role that he is able to keep until he is too old to work.
First Instance of Magic: Emery Albrecht was quite young when his first display of magic was discovered. He was three and as a strangely intelligent young toddler, he had already begun to recognise the letters of the German alphabet and was always fascinated with the books on top of father's study room desk. One day, in a fit curiosity, he climbed on to the desk to try to grab a book with those special letters upon it. However, though his mind was quite developed for a three-year-old, his body was unfamiliar with such strenuous activity, and he soon slipped off the tall wooden desk with the book in hand. He fell to the ground, but the wooden floors of the study became soft under him, like pillows of feathers. He was uninjured and though his parents came rushing in with worry at the loud noise, all Emery was focused on was pointing at the letters that he could not understand, in the book in front of him.

She has 2 sisters that are older than her. One is named Ellia and the other is Nori. Ellia is 14 and gets all A's at her muggle school. Nori is 17 and planning to go to college for psychology. Nori is more adventurous than her younger sisters and often plays pranks on them. Ellia is quieter and spends a lot of time in her room.
They all get along great. Silva's mom is a 51 year old archivist. Her name is Julia. She is loose about the rules and likes having long conversations with her daughters. Silva's dad is a 53 year old engineer who likes his daughters to go out into the world and do stuff. His name is Octavio. He likes not being on phone calls.
Silva has a group of friends who said their goodbyes as soon as she got the letter. They think she got into an elite private school. Her best friend was a muggle named Jane.
When she was 10 she went on a trip to China. It was meant to see where her ancestors lived but they ended up just going to the big stuff since no one in her family had gone to China since her parents were kids. Her family was 3rd generation (starting from 1, not zero). She also once went to America. That trip had been when she was 5 and she didn't remember it.
Her family enjoys telling riddles and playing cards to pass the time, as well as reading a whole lot. Her extended family is made up of her mothers 1 sibling and her fathers 5. Her mothers sibling is named Ilithyia and is married to Paul, they have 4 kids. Her father has 3 brother's and two sisters. The sisters are named Gabrielle and Ophelia. The brothers are named John, Jack, and Jeremy (they hate their names). Gabrielle is married to James and has 2 kids while Ophelia is married to Henry and has 1 kid. John is married to Erica and has 3 kids. Jack is married to Bobby. Jeremy is lonely.
Before going to Hogwarts she lived in York and went to a public school there. She got all A's and never got in trouble. Her school was decent and had a good art program, but it was nothing special.
When someone from Hogwarts came with the letter, Julia thought it was some kind of joke and Octavio thought it was awesome. Ellia almost passed out, and Nori was super excited. Though her mother eventually realized it was true and Ellia eventually recovered, neither of them were happy about the situation. Her dad and Nori on the other hand were super stocked about it and Nori clearly envied Silva's chance to learn magic. Silva was too shocked to care what the others thought.

Anthony is a half-blood, the only one child from his family, his Italian dad is a muggleborn and his British mother a pure-blood; the ones met in Italy and married there and soon moved to Bedford, England where they grow his son. Anthony's parents were passing on him the traditional Italian values, in particular the importance of the family and of the respect. Since he was a kid he has developed a passion for card games, the Neapolitan and French ones and he was used to bring a deck of both with him in his bag. He was sent to school even if the parents struggled financially for giving him the best school education. He always reasoned with his own mind and didn't stand under the imposed rules and teachers always told this to his parents from the kindergarten, he needs to work on that aspect. His parents wanted to wait for sharing to his son the truth about the wizarding story of the mother's bloodline, but as they soon expected his convocation to Hogwarts, they thought the best was let him know the magician power he has in the DNA and how to control it. He was excited about discovering the story. A windy evening an owl posed on the balcuny with a letter: it was the invitation from the wizarding school. The family helped him preparing a suitcase and went shopping the necessary before escorting Anthony to the station and greeting him.

When he was a kid, a sunny day, he got punished for not doing homework at school by his parents and they didn't let him leave the house, so he had to recover what he didn't do as punishment. It was early in the afternoon, his parents went shopping, he was impatient and didn't accept the whole situation and a strange phenomenon occurred meanwhile he was complaining about doing his homework: Anthony's desk started trembling and the book he had in front of him started lievitating until it started burning and became ashes.

Before getting her letter to Hogwarts, Amira was living a fairly normal life in London
with her parents, David and Brielle, and her sister, Luna, as well as their family dog, Daisy.
Her father is not magic but her mother attended Hogwarts and would've worked in
the magic world but met David and fell in love and eventually had the two children.
She spent a lot of time with her family and her little group of friends from school.
She often participated in choir and plays with them and really enjoyed being on stage.
When she wasn't doing those activities she would enjoy time by herself drawing in
her room or writing in her journal.
Amira is a sweet and caring kid. She is pretty hard working and smart and tends to be
competitive and a bit of a perfectionist. With her friends she can be sarcastic but is playful
and loves to play jokes. She is creative and loves drawing and writing as well as singing and acting, all of which she did a lot of in her daily life before coming to Hogwarts. She doesn't like mess and is very organized. She is pretty patient and kind but also can be a little indecisive and tends to be more of a people pleaser, wanting to make everyone happy.

He isn't very close with his father, as they have quite limited time with each other; and the Tickner lineage doesn't exactly approve of Sammy's existence, making for very awkward family dinners. He (guiltily) feels a small glimmer of resentment towards his dad for having to miss out on holidays with his mum, and for how little magic Luther ever taught him which left him less prepared and knowledgeable about the wizarding world than he would've liked.
On the other hand, his relationship with his mother is the complete opposite. She's also a curious, creative type; and they have had many easy bonding moments. Though she was nervous when Sam was revealed to be a wizard, they still remained close and she never made him feel ashamed or scared about his magic.
He went to an average primary school and overall led a very muggle-like life, managing to keep his double-life with his father a secret (or anyone he told brushing it off as his 'big imagination'). During his years in muggle school; he gained a tight-knit friend group (Thomas, Charlie, and Stella) that he would constantly hangout with, his mother's house being the designated hangout spot.
Sammy originally did not actually want to go Hogwarts, as it meant leaving all his friends and his school behind; and despite being intrigued at the idea of doing magic, he feels intimidated about the expectations and pressure of the wizarding world. However, his mother insisted that he go so he can 'connect with 'his' society'. As far as Sammy is concerned, he fits into muggle society just fine; but has decided to stay optimistic and open-minded about going to Hogwarts.
First Instance of Magic
ReducioWhen Sammy was nine in year 5 of primary, he had pulled an all-nighter working on a personal art project, neglecting to care about the test the following day. During the exam, he began to feel incredibly sleepy, and after he was about three-quarters of the way done, he nodded off, out cold until the teacher woke him up at the end of class.
But, to his surprise, the rest of the bubble sheet was completely filled out, and he handed it in while quite bewildered. When the results were returned a week later, it became clear that it was filled out at random and most of the answers were wrong, but his father confirmed that it was likely magic regardless.

History/Background Story:
Reducio
Before attending Hogwarts, Jennifer lived in a charming house nestled in a peaceful neighborhood. Her home was warm and inviting, filled with family photos and her own artwork proudly displayed on the walls. Each piece of art told a story, showcasing her creativity and imagination. The garden outside was colorful and vibrant, bursting with flowers of all kinds, and it was here that Jennifer often played with her loyal English Setter, Lychee. They shared countless adventures together, running through the flowers and basking in the sunshine.
Jennifer's family had an interesting mix of backgrounds. Her father was a French lawyer who moved to the UK, where he fell in love with Jane, Jennifer's mother. While he was a muggle, her mother came from a pure-blood wizarding family. This blend of worlds made Jennifer's upbringing unique. She has an older sister, Claire, who is 16 and has a strong personality. Claire often serves as a role model for Jennifer, pushing her to be more outgoing and adventurous in life. Additionally, she has a younger brother named Adam, who is just 8 years old and full of energy.
Though Jennifer wasn't popular at school, she had a close-knit group of friends. Her three true friends—Sabrina, Natalie, and Fanni—were always by her side. They shared many memories and adventures, and Jennifer felt fortunate to have grown up with them. Together, they supported each other through the ups and downs of childhood.

First intance of magic
Reducio
Jennifer's first instance of accidental magic happened when she was around six years old. They were playing outside and Adam broke a small flower pot.As the pot shattered on the ground, Jennifer felt a sudden rush of emotion—perhaps a mix of surprise and concern for her brother. In that moment, with a wave of her hand, the pieces of the broken pot flew back together, miraculously mending themselves. The flowers, which had spilled out, sprang back into the pot as if they were being pulled by an unseen force. She rushed to tell her parents, and her mother already knew what was up.

Character Backstory:
A fairytale.
At least that’s what Katie Bower would’ve called it, something solely confined to the pages of her dog eared paperbacks. New England born and bred, raised on a steady diet of worn out library copies and charocal paintings— never had she imagined a life beyond that.
That is, until she met Andrew.
While possessing no intention to stay upon American soil for long, it was she— with hands covered in ink, who caught his gaze in a way no other woman could. It wasn't until after their marriage that his true intentions for making the voyage were revealed, and thus, her newlywed husband's magical status. A dream, she insisted, what was the two of them were living in.
There were, of course, complications that came of it. Unready to discard the life she'd known eternally, the two partnered souls spent the few years of their marriage oceans apart. A frequent visit a few times each month, yet nothing beyond it. Such distance could only last so long before deciding to finally make the move, leaving Delaney— all of six years old, to be swept up to Manchester along with it. Bittersweet as it were, England held just as much excitement. From a marriage that had ended too soon, two new siblings awaited eagerly for their arrival. Older by a hefty few years, sure, yet they still welcomed their newest little sister with open arms.
Life soon adjusted after that, Del's accent slowly slipping away after being enrolled into private school. Something her simplistic mother found little need for, concerned for the snobby prep implications tied to such a concept. It had been her father who advocated for the choice, suggesting a finer education considering the funds he possessed. Their little girl deserved the best, after all.
Though in the year Audrey’s boyfriend died, the bond between them shifted. Not that she'd ever learned the cause, nor did she ask; but her sister's grief went unspoken. Everyone noticed it, the quietness that grew with each passing day, her bright smiles less and less frequent. Despite the ever building questions, Delaney never pressed. Some things, she sensed, were meant to be left alone; secrets bound in loss and heartache that words just couldn’t fix.
First Instance of Magic: A spoken rule throughout all families: there are no favorites, amongst siblings nor parents. Granted everyone knows that's a lie and a half. At least for Delaney, having always held a fondness for her eldest sister. So fond, in fact, that the youngling would happily trot after wherever Audrey went during their first years of living together. Naturally, what older sister wants to be constantly followed around? Close as the girls are now, the amount of times Audrey shut the door right on Del are in numbers too high to count. This still couldn't be bothered to stop the youngling from making forced entry, sneaking around during one of her sister's sleepovers. She'd done so well at hiding until a loud laugh of her own escaped. Had she been any less amused, maybe the eight year old would have noticed the faint glow that radiated from her form; a dead give away of her stealthy intrusion. The door to Audrey's bedroom closet was pushed open, revealing a doe eyed and wide smiled little sister.

Confirming with staff. Just wanted to make a note to show it has not been missed.

Clarified with staff to check whether this was a backstory or not. We have agreed as a team that what you have provided is more a family relations excerpt, not a backstory. Please provide a backstory detailing your characters life before Hogwarts, including where they grew up, their family members (to a point), education, and anything else of important detail. An important note to make is that we need to know what happened to Delaney's sister, as it is not explicitly stated currently.
Status: Pending, Dusana, 28 October
I am unsure who Audrey is, and how these other siblings are connected to Delaney. Are they half siblings? Older? Younger? Also, it is still not explained what happened to Audrey's boyfriend. Even if Delaney herself does not know, we out of character must.

Adele de la Fontaine was born in a family where her father possess a talent that for a long time in wizarding history was associating with Dark Arts. He was a Parselmouth and so this talent was inherited by Adele, and later was discovered by her daughter Célestine.
Célestine was growing in a loving family. She noticed presence of snakes in their house and noticed that she could freey understand their language. However, been just a child, she didn't realize that there was more than simple understanding snakes. She didn't even realize that not everyone could do it.
In her teens, her mother asked her if Célestine ever tried to talk to snakes and if she ever said about understanding them to any of her friends. She replied that she didn't discuss it with anyone and became curious. After that Célestine went to a place where they kept snakes and decided to try to talk to one of them. Hi. Do you have a name? As soon as words left her mouth Célestine realized that this language wasn't French, nor it was any of the other languages that she knew. It sounded like hissing, but she understood it and spoke it as if it was her native.
Surprised with this discovery she went back to her mother. That's when she learned that this was a special talent that not everyone had. It was passing in their family from her mother's side from parent to the child and this was one of the greatest things that the family was proud of. However, she was asked to keep it secret especially when she went to study in Beauxatons.
Ever since that talking Célestine made sure she didn't show her talent to anyone outside the family. She didn't know what exactly would happen if she shared it with anyone, but she trusted her mother.
Later when she finished her studying and went to work as Care of Magical Creatures Professor in Beauxatons, she learned that half breeds were not accepted in French Academy, so she understood that she will have to keep hiding her talent. Even those friends that she made during her work didn't know about her talent.
So whenever Célestine wanted to chat with a snake, she made sure that no one could witness it. She even left her pet snake at home when she went to study and later to work, bringing cat with her suno one would start asking questions or get suspicious.
Every summer during her studying she preferred to spend at home so she could take care about her snake. And every time she had to leave it in care of her mother so her pet wouldn't be neglected.
So when due to some events in September 2024 it was allowed to have half breeds, she felt a bit relaxed. Finally she didn't have to hide her talent. It was a time when she found herself dreaming about bringing her pet snake with her. She was looking forward to this new development in her daily life.

Character Backstory:

Célestine was born on 25th July 1995 in Lyon, France. She was growing surrounded by love and care of her parents. Her mother, Adele de la Fontaine, was working in French ministry of magic in Law department. Her father, Alain de la Croix-Valmer, was working as tutor, teaching wizards and witches. Whole her childhood went in Lyon where she was homeschooled before going to Beauxbatons. During her studying in French academy, she learned all basics and a bit of advanced magic. She also improved her language skills, adding English, Arabic, Russian, Spanish and sign languages in addition to French. Célestine was always curious child and loved animals a lot. So, after finishing Beauxbatons college, she was studying under Care of Magical Creatures tutor. It was the best time of her life as she learned something that she was extremely fascinated about. After graduating from French academy Célestine decided to become a Care of Magical Creatures professor in Beauxbatons.
So in 2013 she started her career. It was her first and only career for many years. She traveled a lot during breaks, searching and studying more magical creatures and preparing for new studying semester. All her lessons were including interactive part, so she took great care in keeping students safe regardless of creatures they were dealing with. Her good job and caring nature created her a good reputation in French academy. As Beauxbatons was constantly visiting Hogwarts for balls and summer camp with games, Célestine was always choosing to travel too. Soon she found herself becoming more as someone who was quite trusted among colleagues and students. Her work as professor was going without any injuries and luckily her visits to Hogwarts didn't bring her any disaster. At least not yet.
