Summer Game Announcement! (Duelling)

We wish to inform everyone that the Summer Games are approaching fast. The third stage has concluded and the winner of this season are Slytherin & Ravenclaw! If you wish to take a closer look at the details of the Championship, check out the Championship Records.

For Ravenclaw and Slytherin this means they will be invited to Summer Camp to compete against the other schools and get the chance at yet another stat point as per usual.

For this purpose rosters and trunks will lock on the 20th of July, 2023. Following shortly after the matches will start on the 24th/25th of July, 2023. We look forward for an exciting finale for this year's season!

On site we have a post report option, this is the exclamation mark that says "report" when you hover over it. This is a way of reporting a post that breaks site rating or site rules. This will ping the entire staff team. If the issue requires more subtlety, you are free to contact any member of staff or the administration to report rule breaks, rating breaks, or instances of harassment.

Off site, we generally only moderate our discord. Meaning that site rating and site rules would be followed on our discord. Our staff actively moderate both discord and the site so most rules infractions will be eventually noticed, but there are cases where we do not see something, understand the context of what happened or our ability to see what happened is somehow obfuscated. The exception to moderating only our site and discord is staff leaks and inappropriate contact with minors. Minors in this community are considered to be those under the age of 18 regardless of the age of consent in your country, their alleged 'want' for the interaction, or if you feel that they are 'very mature'; minors are not considered to be able to give their consent and this is also in accordance with the Discord TOS: Community Standards. Even owls can be reported to the staff so if someone solicits inappropriate content from you as a minor (or not as a minor because it is not appropriate but there will be a difference in my personal rage) you can report it. The Hogwarts staff may (there is no promise of this) also review some fringe extreme cases which would get their own announcement and would represent extreme situations (ex. faking your age to entrap a non-minor in a relationship with a minor is an example), actual human harm (ex. encouraging/pushing someone to harm themself), or criminal activity (ex. selling kids RL drugs in their DMs).

On our server we keep good logs, have witnesses that can be interviewed and beyond giving us context regarding the issue, we are likely able to complete the investigation independently. Still, screen grabs are always appreciated. However, if there is an off-server issue that requires our intervention (this is not drama between users, break-ups, or mean-teen/adult shenanigans -- we have DNC requests for that), Hio will need additional information from you that goes deeper than the basic notion and context of the incident. We are going to need screen shots, dates, logs and evidence relevant to the complaint. For example, if someone who is not a minor is sharing explicit material with a non-minor, we would need evidence that they shared it, the context of the sharing, and evidence that they knew the age(s) of the victims. Often community members think the staff is magical and that we can see everything or that we know everything. Only our characters are wizards, we do not live in your DMs or personal private servers so there will be a burden of evidence and proof that we will ask of you.

Since we're about to start summer sports games (quidditch, duelling or broom racing), I want to reiterate the rules about these summer games over summer - which is consistent with previous years.

We aim to have it so that a single person only participates in one summer game. So if your PC gets the opportunity to play a summer game, ideally your iNPC would be sitting out their sports game that summer (i.e. someone already participating in a summer game is the lowest priority during sign-ups for a second game). However, as we build up our iNPC population, summers may call for one player to be in two summer games (PC and iNPC).

To clarify: Due to numbers and spaces in each sport (or lack thereof), we may need to remove iNPCs from their games if they already have a PC playing. Priority will be given to players who do not have a PC playing.

Stat Points & Rewards: In addition to that, in the event that you play and win both of your summer games (on your PC and your iNPC), you only get a single stat point (not two). However, you will get a house point for each game that you win.

It has come to our attention that the school sport team rosters might not be fully up to date. Everyone on the list was owled to see if they were available to play in the summer games. However, some people might not have received this owl if they were not on the list. Please look at the school rosters - available here - and make sure that you are on the sport that you have signed up for and eligible to play (you cannot have played that sport on your PC anytime between Sept 2022 - August 2023).

If you are not listed on the sport and should be, please owl me and Marcus Iwasaki a link with your iNPC trunk (where it should specify what sport you're in) by Friday 28th July 2023.

We will be finalising the Summer Rosters based on this information, as well as the above announcement this weekend. We will try and accommodate all iNPCs where possible. If you are on the roster but choosing to opt out of the sport and do not wish to play, please also owl us.
