"Of course, lass. I can't wait to see how well you do." he would say, adding onto the compliment, his gaze still affixed to the ceiling. As she mentioned she'd read ahead, and wanted to figure out how the ceiling worked, he would grin wider. "If you figure tha' out I will happily pay several hundred galleons to learn tha' secret." he would say, absolute seriousness in his tone.

As she questioned him about what he was looking forward to learning, he would look to her. "I dunno. Every area of magic I can? I wanna be the best wizard I can be; a goal I set fer meself. Though If I 'ad to choose a single subject to be interested mostly in...hmmm....either charms, potions, or transfiguration. Maybe. But then again, it's still all up in the air." he would say.

He would look at her. "And what of you? what's your ultimate 'I must learn or be this before I graduate from Hogwarts' goal? I reckon you may have one; yeh seem to have really spot-on ambition too. Bloody 'ell, I reckon you could probably end up a prefect or head girl a' some point." he would say, yet again paying her a genuine compliment.

@Nikolas Collins
Kaylyn tried her best to raise an eyebrow at Nikolas's words, but ended up with both eyebrows reaching for her hairline. 'How is he so nice? We're competition!' She narrowed her eyes, eyebrows dropping back to their regular position as she tried to figure out if Nikolas had an ulterior motive to his kindness. "Yes." Kaylyn replied hesitantly. "Thank you. And you will be the first to know should I ever find out the secret behind the ceiling.

Kaylyn tilted her head curiously as Nikolas continued speaking in his rather exuberant way, the annoyance she'd felt towards him ebbing away. 'Maybe he really will be quite a competitor for top of the class.' She mused eagerly. 'I'll beat him, of course, but it'll be nice to have at least someone who makes my efforts worthwhile!' A grin spread across her face and she clapped her hands together. "What a lovely goal! Maybe we'll be competitors for top of the class. That would be nice, I adore a good competition."

Her eyes sparkled with pure delight, something that hadn't graced her face until now. She really did love competing with others, the thrill of winning after a long race neck-to-neck was so fantastic. And the gloating afterwards was even better. "I just want to graduate at the top of my class. What I do to get there doesn't matter much to me, so long as I'm the best. Or among the best. But yes, thank you. Being Head Girl would be a dream come true."

Nyalah slid into an open spot towards the end of the Ravenclaw. She looked around her and just surveyed all the students. She saw other first years chatting and getting along and sighed. She wasn't the best at making friends. After all being anti-social will do that to a person. She sat quietly as the food appeared. She looked at all the food and grabbed a few things.

Nyalah just picked at her food as she stayed quite and listened to the loud chatter of the Great Hall. She could pick up bits and pieces of conversation from other houses as some of the students were almost shouting to one and other. She could pick up almost full conversations by most of her fellow Ravenclaws though. She continued to pick at her food mostly just pushing it around her plate.

She was eager for adventures to begin. She hoped that somehow eventually she would make a friend or two. It was likely that she would spend the majority of her time outside of classes in the Ravenclaw common room or the library. However she truly hoped she would befriend someone. She didn't want to spend her entire Hogwarts career as a friendless recluse after all.

"Competing for top o' the class?" He would ponder. It seemed like fun, though he knew he had a lot to make up for, being muggle-born. But he was also certain anything is possible when you put your mind to it. He would look to Kaylyn and grin wide. "All right. Seems like a fun challenge. You're on."He would say with a grin. "Friendly competition is always good. B'sides, I want to see how much I can learn in a year, knowin' really, well, nothing. But don't let that stop you from correctin' anything I'm doin' wrong." he would say, knowing full well he would not know a lot and would have to pay extra attention in classes and on assignments.

He would glance up as he heard even more students being assigned their house. As he heard the reverberating shout of another Ravenclaw, he would glance up, seeing a girl coming to join them at the table. He would wave to her, and grin. As she sat alone, he would lean over and speak. "Welcome to Ravenclaw." he would say, even though he himself was sorted mere minutes ago. he would then grab his glass of pumpkin juice, and take a sip, his eyes lighting up. He had never had it before. "Oh tha's just lovely." he would comment, to no one in particular.

Sitting down at the Ravenclaw table, the room, the table, everything, was so loud and cheerful. I can't help but feel excited and happy as well, there's only one problem, I've been sitting here for a couple minutes, and so far no one has looked at me. I eat silently, but soon loose my appetite. I put on a smile anyway. I give a heavy sigh and my ginger hair falls in front of my emerald green eyes, "Why was I even put in Ravenclaw?" I wonder aloud, I shake my head and my hair falls away from my eyes. I look up when I hear laughter and see a girl with beautiful silver hair and funny, timid kid with curly hair. They're eating those jelly beans that I've heard about. I always forget what they're called. I watch them silently, taking in they're conversations and the laughter they share. I smile and feel happy for them. I open my mouth to introduce myself, but I can't make any noise. I bite my lip and ruffle my hair. A nervous habit I have. I don't want to interrupt, and I look around for other 1st years that I could talk to. I tap the shoulder of someone who looks like they're a first year and hold out my hand as they turn around, "Hey, i'm Aaron, Aaron Flynn."

This whole time Shauna has been in a strange walking comatose state; you know the lights are on but no body is home sort of deal it's been like that since she walked through A WALL to get to the train. She felt like she was in a dream & just thought she was going to wake up. Her sense's finally returned to her when; somewhat; when she was sorted....honestly she didn't even hear which house she was placed in however the eruption of cheers told her where she belongs.

She moved swiftly an end of the table where no one was currently sitting; mostly for the fact that this is what she was used to....she was used to being alone. The plate in front of her filled up with meatloaf, mashed potatoes & gravy; after her visit to Diagon Alley the first book she opened to read was Hogwarts: A History she didn't want to be completely in the dark.

However even with all the reading she has done she couldn't figure out the crazy looking money; when she was buying her school supplies all the store people where nice enough to count out the money they needed & give her change if necessary. As she ate she fished out the leather pouch that contained her wizard money she took out one of each "Okay I have some of these silver things & some of these gold things...what are these things called again? This is so confusing...." She propped the book up on the table to see what she could find out about the wizard money she now possessed. Why does her new world have to be so complicated?

After what seemed like an eternity of reading & rereading the same passage three times leaving her food lay forgotten she slammed her book closed, tossed her coins into her pocket then left the Great Hall. She figured she'd make her way to the common rooms & maybe to the dorms for an early night sleep.

David was sitting at the Ravenclaw table. He was looking around at the Great Hall. He felt that he would be at the table of his house. This was going to be a great experience for him. He was listening to conversations from other students in his house. He was a bit shy. He didn't know how to start the conversation in which he was willing to talk. It was at the point that he was listening to other students talking and having conversations. He didn't mind it.

As the time is flying by, he was having a time where he wanted to talk to other students in his house. However, he was not sure how he was going to start the conversation. So he decided to stay quiet for the time being. He thought to himself. "I say, Ravenclaw would be my style of house that I would want to be a part of." He said to himself. He figured that this house would do wonders for him.

There was food on the table for him to eat. He was getting hungry. He decided to pick up some Bertie Boot's Every Flavour Beans and started to eat. He even grabbed some food, such as chicken and some mashed potatoes from for him to eat. He was enjoying his hang out time with other Ravenclaw students there.

Only four days into the school year and already Shauna felt more at home here than she ever has at the place she grew up; she entered the Great Hall for lunch after leaving the library where she was attempting to do some personal research and failing miserably. She sat down with her fellow Ravenclaws; though she was still pretty shy so she stayed to herself for the most part.

Shauna's bag made its way under her seat so she could eat freely; she filled her plate with fresh green salad topped with some chicken and dressing. Her drink of choice was simply water; while she ate she thought about her time in the library...was there something they missed? Maybe something they over looked? All these thoughts and more started to make her head throb as she finished her salad; the table produced a clean plate making her smile a bit.

She made herself an appetizer plate with a bit of everything; it was then that Keesy's words seemed to actually filter into her mind "Perhaps misses last name does not yet exist within the Wizarding community." For some reason this rang out in her mind like a bell though she didn't know why.

Shauna was having a hard time enjoying her lunch because Keesy's words rang through her mind like a bell that wouldn't stop chiming. After only finishing a small portion of her appetizer plate she grabbed her book bag and made her way back to the library.

After sitting upon the tall barstool, Cairo felt a large floppy hat rest on his smaller skull which weighed more than Cairo expected. Hearing a loud, booming voice echo throughout the silenced Great Hall, Cairo could only figure that it was the voice of the hat which moved on top of him. Avoiding the judging glances from all of the students who were present in the dimly lighted room, Cairo fiddled with his thumbs nervously as he waited for the Sorting Hat to plan out the fate of Cairo’s next seven years... Not scary at all- right?
”It’s just the Sorting. There’s nothing to be worried about!”

Cairo heard a voice say inside of his head which he concluded that was his good conscience or like the angel on his shoulder. Then another voice inside of his head proclaimed,
“Oh shut it already! This decision is between the moments of life or death for goodness’ sake.”
Cairo concludes that this nervous voice could be from the dark side of his conscience as if it was the devil on his other shoulder. Rolling his eyes and trying to get their opinions out of his head, Cairo decided to focus primarily on the booming voice that was speaking to him.
Well, well, well! What do we have here? A Hawthorne eh? Hmm... I haven't had one of you Hawthlings around for quite some time. Hmm... You have your family be spread across many Houses so you may be a hard one to select. Hmm...."
Shivering at the thought of the Sorting Hat knowing more about himself then Cairo did, Cairo decided to continue to listen to the magical Sorting Hat, being anxious with his results.
"Hmm... now for you Cairo, you are a tricky case for me. There is no doubt that you do not belong in Gryffindor for your strength and valor is quite small. You would be a wonderful member in the Houses of Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw though for I sense that you are a loyal, kind, honest, seeker of ambition, seeker of wisdom, and a seeker of knowledge. Out of all of these Houses, I believe that you would belong the most to is......

RAVENCLAW!"

Sighing with relief, Cairo heard the Ravenclaw students from his new House cheer and shout in jubilation for Cairo’s sorting as if they were actually proud to have another birdling in their midst. Beaming with pride which was something Cairo usually never did, Cairo jumped off the stool and walked carefully over to the Ravenclaw table where people began to welcome and congratulate the young man for his achievement. In that first moment, Cairo felt like the Ravenclaws were the people that he actually would fit in and belong with which excited Cairo much more.

After Cairo spent around his first week at Hogwarts, he felt like it was time to start meeting some of the other Claws over lunch. Heading back to the first monumental place that he visited for the first time, Cairo made his way to the Great Hall for he was famished from a lack of food. Seeing some other Claws sit down at the table, he politely nodded to the students before sitting down with his tray of food.

Deciding to be bold, Cairo turned to the nearest Raven by him and waved shyly with a timid smile for he was quite nervous around people. “Hiii... there! How are you?” Cairo asked nervously to the nearest person by him, hoping that he could make friends even despite of his shy, reserved. behavior.

Clarissa was anything but pleased. She had just been sorted into Ravenclaw. Ravenclaw. The house of book nerds and study lovers. Sure, she thought of herself as intelligent, but she was worth more than her brain! How could she ever make friends with those boring weirdos?
It didn't mean much, but at least she hadn't gotten Slytherin, like both her parents. She didn't want to be like them. Something inside of her was kind of relieved. They would probably be confused and disappointed that their only child wouldn't continue their Slytherin lineage, and it made her feel like she accomplished something.
With a straight face, Clarissa left the famous barstool and strolled to the Ravenclaw table. Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw the daring Gryffindor table, wearing their red robes with pride and clapping enthusiastically for every new house member. Clarissa hadn't even paid attention to her own house mates yet. She couldn't care less, in fact. The saying that 'your house would become your family' wasn't something Clarissa looked forward to.

During the first weeks, she had scanned the table, analyzing her fellow Ravenclaws, desperately trying to guess who was the least likely to talk to her. Unfortunately for her, everyone seemed to be equally excited about the new school year and she decided that all Ravenclaws were, for now, equally annoying.
She finally took place next to a boy, a first year like her, she wasn't sure, who looked a bit shy and, Clarissa thought, wasn't likely to start conversation soon.
But she was wrong. Clarissa had just settled down when the boy greeted her with a smile and asked about her mood. Couldn't he see she wasn't feeling it today?
She blankly looked at him for a moment, sighed, and replied: “At the moment, hungry. How about you?” At least she wasn't lying. She felt it was better to stay calm and not make unnecessary drama. If there was anything she hated, it was unnecessary things. Such as unnecessary conversations!
