What We Know: In the summer of 2026, away from Hogwarts, Simon and AngelFyre will be confronted by her jealous childhood friend, Kendric McLeary, while on a camping trip on her family's expansive farm/animal sanctuary. Kendric has long had a crush on AngelFyre, first revealed to them in the summer of 2022. It faded out, or so Simon and AngelFyre thought, but the crush has evolved into something much more unhealthy and sinister. It will re-surface next summer and there will be a physical altercation between Simon and Kendric. At some point during the altercation, AngelFyre will suffer a fatal injury, likely striking her head on a rock or something as a result from a fall after being pushed. Neither Simon nor Kendric will be aware she has been injured during the heat of battle. Simon will be victorious, and because he is a good guy, he will let Kendric go before things get too out of hand. Kendric, coward that he ultimately is, will gladly run away, unaware that AngelFyre was even hurt, let alone dying/dead, so he will never be a witness to her death or to the turning itself. Simon will discover her just moments before her death, so there will be no shot at magic reviving her. In his grief, and without thinking of consequences, he will bloodthrall her. He will be completely alone with her and there will be no witnesses to see his actions. He will stay with her until the change takes place and she awakens so that he can explain what has happened to her. AngelFyre, until her "next" dying day, will tell no one, ever... including @Colin McCoire... that Simon is responsible for her dhampirism.

What Authorities Will Be Told: In a word: lies. They will tell her folks together that she is now a dhampir and was attacked while at their camp. A report will be appropriately made to the Ministry of Magic regarding her new status as a dhampir, as well as the attack made upon her by another "dhampir" while Simon was off gathering wood. He came back to camp and fought with the other dhampir, who eventually ran off, but when Simon reached AngelFyre, it was too late. Simon and AngelFyre will not mention Kendric, and it will turn out that Kendric runs away from home and his life in Stenton Village and is not heard from again.

Additionally, her folks will have learned just 6 months earlier (Dec. 2025 or thereabouts) that Simon is a dhampir. To deflect suspicion from Simon being the obvious choice as the one who turned her, her father will remember that he and his on site veterinarian found a body drained, or nearly drained, of blood on the property a year or so earlier. Suspicion will not fall on Simon because both he and AngelFyre were at Hogwarts at the time of that death. Neither will even know that such a thing happened until they tell her parents about Simon at Christmas break.

No one will know it, but the responsible party will be a vampire named Samael from Simon's father's coven. Samael will be tasked with scouting the property at Simon's father's direction in June 2025 while Simon and AF are away at school. The reconnaissance is done in preparation to kidnap AngelFyre, if necessary, to use her as leverage to get Simon to wed (when he is of an age to do so) another member of his father's coven. While away from the watchful eye of the coven leader, however, Samael will go rogue and decide to snack on a uni kid hiking Scotland during a gap year. This adds more cover for Simon not being the responsible party since it would have been established that he was not at the property at the time of the other, "similar" occurrence, and clearly there was already precedent for such an attack taking place on the property.

When/if asked why he did not get AF to St. Mungos, Simon will say because he knew it would have made no difference at that time; she was already dead and had been bitten. At that point, all he wanted was to be alone with her so that he could help ease her into her new reality.
