Clearing Up Misinformation
It is against my personal policy to announce the bans of players in an attempt to preserve their dignity. However, this is occasionally used as a vehicle of misinformation so I am here to set the record straight.
A user was banned yesterday by a majority staff vote after they decided to take a first year student as a sixth year student to the ball. This alone is a non-issue, there are casual friendships so this can happen and while you will get the side eye from staff and players because it is creepy, we do not like it and do recommend that you do something (anything) else, it is not technically against the rules. However, if you start using this to troll the community or to purposefully creep out or bother the player base, that is not OK and it never will be. Phrases like "14 is too old" for an older member should never be uttered by a user on this site. Entering people's DMs and telling them (paraphrased) "my character is creepy and likes young girls" as an older player is not appropriate. If multiple users say "this is creepy and not appropriate" we should not be seeing the response (paraphrased) "that is the point." All of the aforementioned happened in this case and while some may advocate for a temporary ban because this may just be someone that truly misunderstands boundaries and just needed to be set straight, this has been a persistent problem over the past 5 years with this user. This story arc might have been the last one, but it was by far not the first one. They had made a career of dancing the line of what was appropriate with the response "I am not breaking the rules." Multiple attempts to mediate over the years with multiple users volunteering to do so, have resulted in not only failure, but also an escalation in terms of the concerns being brought to the staff.
While I know the narrative being brought around is -- "I did not break any rules and I am being banned anyways" is technically true, it is not the full context. These boundary-pushing roleplays have inspired multiple restrictive policies in this community and they were given a final warning following a previous boundary-pushing incident where they were made aware that if they acted inappropriately again, they would be expelled from the community as a final unsuccessful bid for remediation.
This is an extraordinary situation and I am sorry for the distress that it has caused members of the community.

Minor and Adult Interactions
Please adhere to the site rating. As a gentle reminder, we have no control over what is shared in DMs or off-site that is rating breaking, but it is highly inappropriate if an adult sends a minor explicit content. If you as a minor have been getting explicit content from a non minor, you can reach out to a member of staff. While we don't control interactions off site, for your safety, this would be an exception.
If you are not comfortable with me, any staff person will do. You will get a response from me 100% of the time on matters such as this.

I recently had to ban an IP belonging to a claimed group of people from the same school because one of them (or the same person with a lot of free time that made several accounts and cultivated multiple personalities) created an account called "Monkey Negro." I will leave the description at that. The content of the bio was an obvious troll. There are some types of people we cannot let onto the site for obvious reasons. This resulted in an immediate IP ban which would prevent the group of users who used this site from accessing the site any longer. So please, if you share the site with friends, be careful which friends you invite here. If we end up getting racist, homophobic, sexist, etc. rhetoric from someone, we will have to expel them from the community and I do not want you to lose access to the site because of the poor choices of your peers.

Potions Lesson Updates
Dear second years! As previously announced, your Potions lessons have been slightly updated. For most of them, the content and homework remains the same, except for Lesson 1: Mind Altering Potions and Lesson 2: The Art of Healing. If you have started doing either of these assignments but not handed them in, please make certain to re-check your homework!
Next up: Third years! Your lessons will be updated on the 23rd of April (in four weeks). This impacts the content and possibly homework questions for Year 3, Lesson 1, Year 3, Lesson 2, and Year 3, Lesson 3. If you have started doing these homework assignments, please finish and hand them in ASAP. If you haven't, I recommend you wait for the new lessons.

Martch '23
With Martch almost being over, please remember to:
1. Post in here with your updated prompts by 7th April in order to gain rewards, if you haven't already. If you've already posted then simply update your post by this deadline.
2. All of the prompts/entry must be in your [Martch 23] thread. We won't click through links so any writing, graphics, coding etc must be in the thread and easily viewable. You will not receive rewards if they aren't in your thread as links won't be clicked (especially external ones).
3. Make it easy for us to moderate, please. This is a request, more so than a rule but if we have to click through 10 reducios to find out if you've done 1 prompt or not, it's going to take longer for people to get rewards. The easier it is, the faster this will be for everyone!

Hear ye, hear ye, Lords and Ladies of the Court. Spring hath arrived in all its glory! Head down to the Grounds and then the Lake for a night of extravagance, fun and perhaps a little foolery.
Firstly, step through the twists and turns of the Enchanted Maze!
And then, join the Court at the Royal Banquet!
Do not despair brave knights, as Tourney sign ups will open soon.
