Gryffindor v Ravenclaw 1st Game Finished

This match was heating up fast, and not only fast but dirty too as foulplay seemed to be on several player's minds. Ruthie assumed everyone would be going after Seekers since they had the chance of garnering the most points by catching the snitch. But in reality, anyone was a target--so much so that the next few minutes would see three players knocked off their brooms.

But Ruthie wasn’t paying attention to any of that at first. Instead, she was tempted to go for a quaffle grab, but Lavinia beat her to it and took the quaffle without any competition from the other side. Ru followed closely behind as she watched Lavinia charge with confidence. She was ready to play defense in case anyone tried for an interception, but thankfully, Lavinia had a clear shot again. It was a slower throw, but she succeeded again. Ruthie extended out her hand to high-five Lavinia as they turned around to go on the defense.

Just as she was zooming out towards mid-field, she heard the crack of beater’s bats and the whistle of referees. But as she looked over, there was one beater she was particularly concerned about. And he was falling. Ruthie didn’t know if it was the result of a sentenced bludger or an attempt at blatching, but it didn’t matter. What mattered was that Jorah was absolutely plummeting down towards the field. Gripping her broom hard, she pulled down and flew fast, tilting her broom just enough to increase the probably of a successful catch. Circling slowly, she watched, and once he was close, she zoomed up under him and caught him before flying forward quickly. “You all right back there?” she asked, looking back at his face. She didn’t see very much of it, but to her his face looked flush. He must have been in pain, but that wasn’t what was important.

What was important was getting back in the game. Flying close to the perimeter, Ruthie kept a keen eye for Jorah’s broom should want to return to it. With her eyes downward, she noticed A Gryffindor save, which was desperately needed as not one, but two players were falling. Ru squinted as she glided through the air just enough to identify it was Eris left falling without anyone to save her. “Merlin!” she said to the boy on her broom, “We knocked out Eris!” What a lucky stroke, and yet somehow she didn’t know if Jorah would even appreciate it if his fall had left him in good shape. She hoped he was okay. Beyond being a good beater, he was her best friend. At least, she’d managed to keep him save and she'd look after him until he could get back to his own broom.

As soon as Lamik saw Eris get knocked off of her broom, he was on his feet. Without hesitating a second, the boy raised his hand above his broom and commanded it upwards. "Up!" The broom flew into his hand, and Lamik silently thanked it for not ruining his grandiose entrance. Before he mounted though, he heard the first cheer- if you could call it a cheer:

”LAMIK, YOU BETTER FRICKIN’ CATCH IT! DON’T LET THE BLOODY BIRD SNATCH IT FIRST!!!”

That took the boy off guard a bit. As tempted as Lamik was too search for where the call came from, he knew that he had to keep his head in the game from that point forward. This was it. This was his first game of quidditch.

"LAMIK, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT MESSING THIS UP! YOU BETTER WIN THIS, FOR MERLIN'S SAKE!"

Lamik didn't have to look back to recognize that voice. Part of him couldn't believe that she had even come to spectate. Still, knowing that Saskia Nicholson had come to watch him play was enough to put a somewhat confident smile on his face as he took off into the sky, the large yellow 0 on the back of his shirt hopefully identifying who he was to those in the stands.

Things were going poorly. Max had a moment of hilarity when Alexx yelled, and he turned around to give her the peace sign and flash a smile. It was nice to have someone on their side cheering for their team even though things were going to hell in a handbasket. It would've made things all seem better - especially since Eris has spotted the snitch - but everything went horribly wrong in the span of a few seconds. Bludgers hit, two of them slamming into Arlis and knocking her from her broom. Max was on his feet again, his fist clenched around his own broom as a Ravenclaw girl flew at Eris and hit her.

"Shit," he breathed as his friend went careening to the ground. But Raine would save her, right? It would make sense for - The thought was cut off as soon as it came, Raine diving to rescue Arlis and leaving Eris to hit the ground with a sound that resonated through his bones. "Eris!" he yelled, stumbling a few steps towards the field before realizing it was probably something he wasn't allowed to do during the middle of the game.

Standing at the edge of the field, frustrated, he waited for people to come bring out the stretcher for her. He wanted to go to her right then and accompany her to the hospital wing, however the game was brutal on Gryffindor's players and he had no choice but to stay in case someone attacked Hugh. Not likely at the rate things were going but you never knew. Backing up, he sank down onto the bench and clutched his broom so hard his nails dug gouges into it. He would see this through for better or for worse, but those Ravenclaws better hope he didn't have to come out onto the field.

As she watched their one and only Beater got hit by the Ravenclaws beaters, Griseldis had no choice but to do what they had planned before. She gripped her Shooting Star tight, her eyes locked on one target and flew towards the target like a falcon about to attack its prey. She successfully smashed into one of the Ravenclaw Beater. This action seemed to catch the Ravenclaw boy off guard and fell from his own broom. To be honest, Griseldis didn't like what she did but she was doing it for the sake of her Gryffindor team. She was able to knock off one of the Beaters from their broom but the cost was that she must do the one-lap penalty. Which also means, she couldn't do anything during the penalty. However, Griseldis was a bit relieved when one of the Ravenclaws saved their beater from falling to the ground in time, she never wanted anyone to get hurt, even when the person was their rival.

It was very unfortunate that their seeker wasn't able to catch the Golden Snitch and she also understood why Raine had to save Arlis instead of Eris at the end.  It was the most difficult decision to make in a situation when you only had a few seconds to make. They needed a beater! And they still have a 2nd string seeker on the team who could replace Eris. She could only pray in her heart that Eris would be fine, the same for their captain. No matter how dreadful it looked at this moment, Griseldis still wanted to believe in her teammates and continued to stay positive. It was important to never give up despite their current moral being damaged a lot at this point.

She gently flew towards @Lamik Fillestar and gave him a thumbs-up, "You can do it, Lamik. But no matter what happens, do the best you can!", then she flew off to begin her penalty with the other Chaser Millie.

Narrowing her eyes, Cecily aimed her broom towards the blissfully unaware Gryffindor Seeker. She hated having to do this, but she couldn't let the lions win this game. They would have a second-string ready to replace poor Eris, of course, but it at least bought them a little bit of time.

Bracing for the impact, Cecily collided solidly with Eris' small body, knocking the seeker from her broom and sending her tumbling to the ground. The Ravenclaw winced as the scarlet-clad girl hit the ground, hard. She really wasn't out here for blood, honestly, but if blood was what it took...well, she just hoped that the nurse would be able to fix Eris' injuries in no time. She didn't want Adam mad at her for almost killing his best friend.

And then the inevitable whistle. She had expected the penalty for her blatantly illegal action, of course but it still stung a little bit. Aiming her broom towards the stands, Cecily began her mandatory one lap. Taking the moment to survey the pitch, she noticed quite a few empty brooms-- Eris's, of course, but two more-- one clearly belonging to Jorah, who was currently residing on the back of Ruthie's broom (Good catch, Ru! she thought), and another that had to be the other Gryffindor beater's, as she was also doubling up. God, it looked like her team was winning, but she just hoped they could keep this up for a little longer.

Leaning forwards, Cecily raced to complete her lap, robes streaming out behind her. She didn't want to helplessly watch this game any longer than she had to-- she needed to be back in there, helping the Eagles win.

Jorah flew into position. His target was in sight, the Gryffindor seeker, but what's this? She was reaching out with her hand. She was about to catch the snitch! Not on my watch, Jorah thought. He gripped his bat tight and gave the nearest bludger a WHACK! The bludger went careening straight towards the seeker. It was just about to make contact when Arlis, the Gryffindor beater, used her body as a human shield to block the bludger, protecting the seeker, but blasting herself off of her broom.

Before Jorah could react he was pummeled on his left side by a mass of red and gold. Jorah slipped over the right side of his broom, falling toward the ground. Oh, Shiiii...within a matter of miliseconds Jorah's life flashed before his eyes. He saw his family laughing around a fire, he saw his muggle friends playing football, he saw his new best friend Ruthie, WAIT!, he really was seeing Ruthie! THUMP! Jorah's pelvis landed hard on the back of her broom, good thing he was wearing his cup, the future of his progeny was secure. “You all right back there?”, she said. He struggled to unbury his face from the tangles of golden locks whipping in the wind. Ruthie!... I am now! Jorah wrapped his left arm as tight as he could around his friend's waist, determined not to fall again. He was supposed to be protecting her, Jorah hoped she wouldn't make a habit out of this. Spitting out the strands of hair flying into his mouth, Jorah shouted over the wind, Let's finish this!, directing Ruthie with his bat where to fly next.

On top of his broom Neculai was searching all over the field for that glittering gold. But no luck so far. Frustration getting the better of him, his hands gripped the broom tighter. "Blasted, Snitch! Where are you?!" Not able to see even a flicker of it, he started to observe how his other teammates were faring. What he saw was utter chaos! Gryffindor's Chasers were out for blood, probably trying to avenge their Captain. They started to target our beaters. One going for his own Captain, but she dodged that one. Another going for Jorah and he succeeded!

Neculai sucked some air as he saw his teammate drop like a brick ever getting closer to the surface. Closing his eyes as he couldn't bare seeing him fall. As the crowds suddenly went cheering he opened an eye and saw that Ruthie had skillfully saved Jorah from a nasty fall. Only to quickly see his teams beaters targeting the enemy seeker's defender! Two hits of a Bludger and he dropped to the ground and Cecily quickly following up with a blatch towards the seeker!

"YES! GO RAVENCLAW!" Neculai exclaimed from his broom! Clapping at the sight of the enemy Seeker falling to the ground. His team had bought him some more time and he would take this opportunity with both hands! Removing his glasses and wiping it clean, he thought he saw a gold flicker. Quickly he put his glasses back on, but nothing was there.

"Come on, Neculai! Find that Snitch!"

"Blast!" The giant hissed through gritted teeth. The desire to punch himself a hole through his head had become significantly more tempting. That's twice a failure too many. He really needed to think ahead at what Lavinia or any of the others would be up to. He cracked his neck a little in a show of readying himself. Or maybe he was thinking too much? He was tall, he should be able to cover more ground than any of the others currently flying the field. His sideburns aligned on a snarling smirk. Ready.

Millie was so close to hitting the Ravenclaw off of her broom, it felt like everything was coming together, until the girl swerved out of the way and Millie just went flying into nothing. "Shit!" She shouted, though her voice wasn't loud enough to mask the screams of the people from the stands.

However she did hear one thing, the announcer yelling about the penalty. This game was not going as planned, and Millie had a feeling that if the Gryffindors didn't do better, then this game was going to end fairly quickly, and painfully. They had to do better and taking this stupid penalty lap wasn't going to help. The urge to just ignore it was strong, but the little amount of self-control Millie had, took over.

With another crack of her bat, the brunette sent a bludger flying towards the seeker. Possibly the most accurate she had ever had, and while she was happy contact was made, she felt both relief and frustration when she didn't fall off. However, before she could turn away and cheer on the Ravenclaw team another bludger came into contact with the beater and she winced, a smile tugging at her lips and giving Jorah a look of gratitude. That's great... She thought, looking down at the Gryffindor pair. Finally, their defense was out. Well, most of it, she thought looking at the goals. It seemed a lot like the last match.

There was nothing but a smile on Emma's face as she watched Lavinia score once again. Excited? Yes. Perhaps getting a little cockier? Also yes. Once again, she threw the quaffle through the hoops, it darting past the keeper and through the strings. Yelling out of the lungs an octave higher than her usual tone. "Woohoo! Nice catch, Ru!"
