Clair was still not used to History of Magic teaching Spells, it was weird, why had they decided to teach spells in that class? What ever the reason Clair showed up, mostly because she wanted to know spells. She looked around, most of the students were looking at Professor Zahid, he was holding a par of broken glasses in one hand and his wand in the other, he explained how to fix them, by using the spell 'Oculus Reparo' a simple spell to fix the glasses, it seemed rather useless
to Clair who did not wear glasses, but maybe to a glass wearing person this would be a great spell. She picked up her wand and her pair of broken glasses, they were sunglasses, she hoped he would let them keep the glasses in the end of class. She watched as Professor Zahid tapped the glasses and said the indication, 'Oculus Reparo' and the glasses fixed them selves, she tapped the
Glasses with her wand, and muttered "Oculus Reparo" as she muttered this the glasses stayed broken, she groaned what was with it? There was no movement, "OCK-you-liss Reh-PAH-roh" she said, the glasses mended themselves this time, Clair smiled, she had don't it! She broken the glasses again and did it again, and it worked! Clair smiled and redid it again...

Professor Edit: The Ravenclaw seemed undaunted by her first miss, no, in fact she seemed quite enthusiastic in her mending and re-breaking the glasses. It was always nice to see such enthusiasm (even if Zahid would like his students showed it more often in his normal history lessons.) "Well done, Miss Fernandez."Oculus Reparo learned

Starlee entered the History of Magic Classroom, not expecting to see a mountain of broken sunglasses in the front of the room. She took her seat and looked around wearily at the other students. 'What on earth could be going on here?' she wondered. It was only shortly after that Professor Zahid explained they would be learning a spell today. Starlee became nervous. Spellcasting really wasn't her forte, and she tended to like History of Magic more so than other classes because of it. However, she was one of only a handful that seemed to look concerned.
After learning it was a charm to repair eye-glasses, her tension lifted somewhat. At least she wouldn't be practicing against another person. This made things much easier. She also felt as if she had the upper hand; her father and brother both wore glasses, and who knows how many times she had heard him cast the spell for her brother.
But she had never tried it for herself, so first, she certainly needed to practice the pronunciation. "Oculus RepaROH.... OcuLUS RepaROH.... Okay... thats not quite right... a bit more slowly then... OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh. PAH-roh. PAH-roh. OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh. That's it!" she said aloud to herself, feeling better about it all already. Thank goodness the wand movement was super easy, all she had to do was tap the glasses while saying the fancy Latin spell.
Now was the moment of truth. She held her wand in front of her, her tight grip unrelenting, and tapped the broken sunglasses that lay on her desk while saying "OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh!" She watched as the glass inside one of the lens' became whole again and she smiled. Now she would be able to fix her brothers glasses too!
Professor Edit: For all that Zahid had noticed that Miss Kennedy did not seem all that enthused about a practical lesson instead of a normal history one, she cast the charm with aplomb. "Well done, Miss Kennedy."Oculus Reparo learned

| ── | Draven could have gotten used to walking in the HoM classroom and finding Professor Zahid in a better mood than usual. It seemed even he liked teaching spells, taking a break from the regular curriculum for at least a couple hours. Now, he sat down at his usual table setting his bag to the site and not bothering to pull out his textbook. The slight smile on his Professor's face was proof enough they wouldn't be needing it today. That, and the pair of broken sunglasses resting on each of the students desks. After the man finished his speech, Draven pulled his wand from beneath the folds of his robe and leaned forwards, tapping the tip of it to glasses. "OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh." the boy said, enunciating carefully. The glasses mended on the first try, much to his surprise. A fluke, probably. Picking the glasses up, he placed his fingers on opposite sides of a lenses and twisted. A sharp crack resounded through the classroom as the plastic shattered. Ooops. Setting them back down on his desk, the boy tried again. Tapped the tip of his wand to the frame. "Oculus Reparo." Once again, they mended. Draven grinned. Magic was getting easier. |

Jacob knew that in case he was given glasses he needed to get this spell, still in his first year, he knew this spell his grandfather’s glasses were destroyed. He first memorized the incantation. "OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh, OCK-you-liss re-PAH-roh, OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh, OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh!" Jacob knew he had pronounced it correctly after the last time he said the incantation, next he performed the wand movement tapping the glasses several times he knew that the Professor was watching him, he knew if he did not get this spell right, he would need someone else to repair his glasses just in case he ever got glasses. Jacob had to focus, and focus hard and put all of his soul into casting the spell. Now he was going to attempt to use the spell and now he began to doubt. 'What if I didn't get the spell right? What would I do? If this spell goes wrong." But Jacob pushed his doubts aside, he knew that he just had to focus on the spell and focus with all of his soul and he would be able to perform the spell correctly. He then tapped the glasses and said with all of his might "Oculus Reparo." The glasses were repaired so fast that it was done in a manner of seconds. He now knew, however, he would perform often to make sure that he could get it right again. But Jacob was relieved.

────────────────────────────♕────────────────────────────Everly hadn't been doing too well that day. She'd accidentally gotten a potion spilled all over the backside of her robes, and had to hobble from the dungeons all the way up to the dormitories where she kept her spare clothes. If that hadn't set her bad mood, nothing else would, so when she marched into History of Magic, her mind was elsewhere.
Once again, it seemed that by the end of the class, she would be equipped with yet another spell. This time, when she entered the classroom, she found herself presented with some broken sunglasses, situated on every student's desk. Everly picked them up curiously upon sitting down, recognizing them as eyeglasses that people used to protect their eyes from the sun. The spell they were learning, as Everly began to piece the lesson together in her head, was to repair these eyeglasses.
The professor began talking once everyone had sat down. OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh, she repeated in her head, the Eyeglass Repair Charm. OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh. UCK-you liss? No, OCK-you-liss. It was important to get the incantation right, she knew as she chanted it over again in her head. The wand movement was quite simple, just a small tap on the glasses. Everly watched the demonstration, mesmerized.
When it came for everyone to began practicing the spell itself, Everly was one of the first people to reach for her wand, gripping it lightly. She adjusted the positioning of the glasses slightly on her desk, making sure she could see the broken areas and tapped it twice. "Oculus Reparo!"
To her disappointment, nothing happened.
Tap. "Oculus Reparo!"
Nothing. Zilch. She glanced at it, perplexed, and flicked it lightly. Still, nothing changed.
Eyebrows scrunched, she raised her wand once more, this time being more deliberate with her spell-casting. Deep breath in Tap, tap. Concentrate. "Oculus Reparo!" And out.
Like clockwork, the glasses began to seal themselves back together, mending. Everly watched, transfixed by her work. She let out a laugh. This felt great. Everly reached for the glasses once more with two hands, snapping it with a loud crack.

This was a vital lesson that Cain would likely be using the rest of his life, he couldn't count the number of times he'd broken his glasses in his early childhood and had to ask his mother to repair them. He'd gotten a lot more careful with them as he got older, but things at Hogwarts tended to get physical and now he was without his mother's magical aid. Tape just wouldn't cut it, especially if he broke a lens. He sat with the broken pair of cheap sunglasses in front of him, they were a glittery neon green with darkened lenses, a small sticker proclaiming them to be 100% UV protection.
He took a deep breath and practiced the pronunciation a few times with his wand as the professor instructed. "OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh... Oculus Reparo, Oculus Reparo." Once satisfied that he'd said the charm correctly, he spoke a fourth time and tapped his wand on the glasses lightly. "Oculus Reparo." It was a success! It was a simple charm, he wore glasses himself and seen it done a hundred times by his mother, oddly enough he had no doubt about it working. Still. Practice ensured perfection, so he snapped one of the temples and tried again. "Oculus Reparo." The pair of silly sunglasses came back together once more. Now, it was for the real test. He removed his own eyeglasses and broke them in half at the bridge, he could see all right, he mainly needed them for reading anyway and he got a headache without them.
"Oculus Reparo."
He tapped his wand onto the broken bridge of his glasses set on the desk, they came together just as they did for his mother and he placed them back on his face with a relieved sigh. He'd just have to owl his mother later with the good news.
Professor Edit: It seemed the Slytherin was quite confident, Zahid noted, as the boy switched from the practice glasses to breaking his own glasses. "Well done, Mr. Corvus. Still, please keep practicing on the provided glasses for the rest of this lesson instead of breaking your own again."Oculus Reparo learned

James walked to History of Magic class book in one hand and used his other to turn the page. He turned thinking he was walking through the door but bumped into a wall instead. He dropped his book and stumbled backwards rubbing his nose. Not the best way to start off his day but not everyday starts off perfectly.
He picked up his book and walked into the classroom with a throbbing red nose. The desks were in their normal positions today. James thought it was just a regular class until he noticed the broken pair of eyeglasses on each one. Another day another new spell. This one to repair eyeglasses. That's a lot of money to pay just to break a pair of eyeglasses James thought to himself. But hey they always get fixed in the end. James sat down in his seat and waited for the professor to begin.
Obviously as James had guessed they were learning a new spell. An eyeglass repair charm. James usually only wore glasses as an accessory. He didn't actually need them so more often than not the ones he wore didn't have any lenses in them or at least not prescription lenses. So this charm could be useful to him in the future.
The professor finished explaining and did his demonstration before allowing the class to begin. James stood from his seat and pulled out his wand. He didn't need to practice the incantation. Learning spells has always been easy for him. So as always he as able to pronounce the incantation correctly on the first try. "OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh"
All there was to the wand movement was to just tap the glasses. That seemed relatively hard to mess up but he was sure someone would figure out how to mess up the wand movement.
James took a deep breath and focused on his glasses. "OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh" James said as he tapped the glasses with his wand. Not too long after the glasses mended themselves back together. Pretty simple.
He looked up and noticed a fellow Hufflepuff girl struggling with the charm. As they made eye contact he motioned for her to watch him. He broke his eyeglasses once more. "OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh" he said as he tapped the glasses once more. They repaired themselves almost immediately. The girl gave a look of realization and did the charm herself just the way he had and just like that her pair of glasses mended themselves back together. The girl beamed brightly towards him and mouthed a quick thank you. He mouthed back to her 'You're welcome' with a small smile as he sat back down in his seat.

Dialogue: Liana - #09621b
The pair of dark-tinted glasses looked extremely odd. This had to be a Muggle invention - Liana hadn't ever seen such accessory used by a wizard. She picked up the item and examined it, frowning slightly. When she held the 'sunglasses' up to her eyes - not putting them on her face, just staring through the lens - it only seemed that everything looks considerably darker. Vision-impairing glasses. How bizarre and seemingly useless. She put it back on the desk and focused on the spell they were about to learn.
"Oculus Reparo... Oculus Reparo... Oculus Reparo," she repeated under her breath, testing out the sound of the spell. It wasn't too complicated, although there were easier incantations. At least the wand movement was just a basic tap. Liana pulled out her wand and carefully tapped the broken sunglasses. "Oculus Reparo." The tip of her wand touched the cracked lens. Some of it mended, and most of the scratches disappeared, but there was still observable damage remaining. Nothing to do but try again. "OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh," she incanted once more, careful to pronounce each syllable with precision, and tapped the glasses again.
It was pleasing to watch as the remaining cracks closed up, leaving only smooth - if slightly smudged - glass. She exhaled with proud satisfaction.

Trying out for practice she could sense that it wasn't exactly what the teacher said, and she didn't know what would happen if she didn't do it on the first try. Nervousness spilled up over that possibility, as she fear it would somehow make her look bad in Professor Zahid's eyes. But her bravery and determination allowed her to feel motivated to learn a spell full of wonder and not let her fear of displeasing her teacher get the best of her. It was a Monday again.
He hadn't been expecting anything until the professor came in with a smile on his face.
They were learning another spell, it was the only reason why he'd be looking like that. Kim was curious as to whether it would be the last charm or the hex one.
After all, they'd already learned one of the two charms on the syllabus. So the only ones left were another charm and the hex. If he had to guess, he'd probably go for the charm, since hexes were spells lots of students wanted to learn to mess with others. Save the best for last, right? Professor Zahid's next words confirmed his suspicions and his guess. Each of their desks had a pair of broken sunglasses on them, including the older wizard's. Eye-glass repair.
Yup.
It was what he'd thought it was.
Kim nodded as he listened to the instructions and then looked down at the glasses.
OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh. OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh. OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh. He murmured to himself under his breath and inside his mind at the same time.
Yup, he'd gotten the hang of the pronunciation. It was time to test it out on the glasses before him. Kim closed his eyes and took a deep breath, letting it out slowly as he gathered his focus. He stretched out his wand and lightly tapped the pair of glasses before him. "OCK-you-liss reh-PAH-roh!" The Gryffindor said with confidence. These types of spells were easy to master because they required no wand movements. All you needed was good pronunciation.
