There was another snake. In Humphrey’s noble presence!

In truth, he was quite impressed by the sheer determination of this particular species to be close to him- not that it was a situation he was unfamiliar with, though few had matched the apparent resolve of every such snake in this place. They would be respectable followers and would likely succeed in scaring off any overly eager members of his fan club- which he was certain he possessed.

“Goodness! What stubborn chaps you are!” he proclaimed, staring down at the large snake.

Oddly, said snake was not meeting his gaze, and not for the respectful reason. Instead, it seemed to be fixated on that Cadell girl, hissing at her in an almost friendly way. Humphrey glanced at his other travelling companion, tilting his chin slightly towards the snake-girl as if to say, “Ugh! The gall!”

Instead of saying that out loud, which Humphrey was far too classy to even consider, he paused until the snake began to slither off, upon which he inquired, “Well? Are we near the flag?” in Tes’ general direction.

As he finished speaking, he looked away, mirroring the girl’s previous rudeness in not directing her gaze at him. To his utter shock, a pair of players, whom he didn’t recognise, stood before him. Sloths.

YES 😭 I remember now! This is for the **Castelobruxo Capture the Flag** event. Danielle was in **Zone 4 (Mist)**, passed the environmental obstacle, and is now **moving into Zone 3 (Downpour)** where Fawkes, Henry, Olivia, and Avery are. Since it's an event RP, it should be immersive and action-focused.

The mist had served its purpose.

It concealed, disoriented, and tested every step Danielle took, but lingering within its embrace would only slow Team Sloth's advance. Drawing a steady breath, she cast one last glance over her shoulder before turning toward the barely visible trail leading into the next zone.

One careful step became another.

Gradually, the pale fog loosened its grip until the dense jungle emerged once more. Towering trees stretched overhead, their branches swaying as a relentless downpour hammered the canopy. Rainwater streamed from every leaf, soaking the undergrowth and turning the forest floor into a patchwork of slick mud and shallow puddles.

Danielle welcomed the clearer visibility despite the weather.

Shielding her eyes from the rain with one hand, she carefully navigated around exposed roots and fallen branches, refusing to let the slippery terrain rush her pace. The deafening rhythm of rainfall drowned out distant sounds, yet faint movements ahead caught her attention.

Silhouettes.

Her teammates.

A small smile crossed Danielle's face as she recognized familiar figures through the curtain of rain. Picking up her pace just enough to close the remaining distance, she stepped into Zone Three without incident, joining the others beneath the relentless storm.

The jungle had traded mist for rain.

Danielle had no intention of letting either stand in her way.

26TH OF JUNE, 2026 IN THE JUNGLE ARENA

ZONE 1 : JAGUAR
(Zone Modifier: -1 ACC)

Everyone's favourite jaguar crept back into the base for an encore. Its steps slowed as it lurked in the lush shrubs before it launched another sneak attack at the two who previously eluded its grasp. Unfortunately for the jungle stalker, the pair were not foolish enough to let their guard down.

A swift response from Dido foiled its first and stealthiest attempt. With its presence exposed, the jaguar of any stealth and its lunge at Jada proved to be predictible. A nasty snarl expressed its discontent clearly before it slowly backed away into the jungle. Until the moment it vanished, the jaguar's gaze remained fixed on on them.

Dido deemed this the most appropriate moment to make a sharp quip, which seemingly lightened the mood. After facing such a ferocious predator, what more was there to fear? The pair could now proudly boast about surviving not one, but two Jaguar attacks if they survived; a difficult feat that many who traversed this terrain were never fortunate enough to achieve.

ZONE 2 : HEATWAVE
(Zone Modifier: -2 EVA)

What was worse; being pelted by violent gushes of water or feeling like a cookie baking in a recently warmed oven? To find out, one simply had to ask Henry Holbrook. The poor lad had experienced all the lows of the tropical climate in a single day. Although he withstood the severe heat, the sensation was far from pleasant.

The temperature surge was so horrid that even drove off the anacondas. The cascading streams of cool water spared none from the unrelenting heat, yet the playful Ophelia and the well-hidden Dahlia toughed it out. Sir Humphrey D’Ogwarts III, however, was unfortunately not built for these conditions despite his excellent endurance (8 stamina). It was simply too much for Avery to bear as well. Both would feel light-headed and slightly dazed. Even if they laid down or splashed their faces with water, the debilitating effects of heat exhaustion would leave them weakened until their evening rest. Tes, Tina, Olivia and Salim remained fairly unresponsive. If the heat had gotten to them too, they certainly showed no physical signs of suffering.

Avery combed the area for the prized flag, but turned up empty. Her search was thorough enough to conclude that it was nowhere in the vicinity. Sir Humphrey D’Ogwarts III clearly did not like her snooping around, for he drew his wand and aimed a well-cast incendio duo at Avery. Even under the harsh conditions, she reamined nimble enough to dodge the attack. Although some could claim that his aim was simply atrocious, that would deprive Avery of credit where it was due. The shooting bolt of fire simply struck the water and fizzled out, sparing everyone from a horrific jungle fire. Unfortunately for Ophelia and fortunately for the forest, her wand refused to comply with her intent to support Humphrey's attack. Perhaps it was suffering from heat exhaustion too. Or perhaps the forest guardians did not approve of stray firebolts. Who could say?

ZONE 3 : ANACONDA
(Zone Modifier: -2 ACC, -1 STA)

Disaster was foretold when an agitated anaconda fled from the suffocating heat. With the recent rain absorbing much of the warmth, it could find solace in this cool forested area. Given that thick green shrubs occupied most of the space, the slithering surpent blended amongst the mundane flora in the distance until it was right in front of them. By then, the anaconda was incredibly displeased to have its path obstructed by the pair during its retreat. With a decisive strike, it coiled itself around an idling Danielle until she could barely utter a word.

Meanwhile, Fawkes had scoured the area for signs of the flag. It was neither in the crooked treetops or the leafless branches, nor was it hidden beneath the bright blue flutterby bush that quivered when approached. Her diligent efforts soon revealed that the opponent flag was nowhere in sight. Unfortunately, the reward for her curiosity was a big hug from the anaconda as its attention shifted to Fawkes after releasing Danielle. With a tight squeeze, Fawkes was subjected to the same crushing force before being dropped a few paces from her fellow Sloth.

Whilst their bones were still intact, their pride was likely a different matter. Whether that was the case was something they could ponder over as they laid on the damp forest floor.

ZONE 4 : IARA
(Zone Modifier: -2 STA)

Fresh petrichor filled the air as the skies cleared. Distant birds sang once more and the frogs joined in with deep croaks. Unlike most, Lauren, Denise and Denisse were having a grand time. None of them faltered when the water nymph surfaced in a nearby river and sung a sweet melody. At most, it seemed like soothing atmosphere music. One could have stumbled upon the trio and believed they were simply here here to enjoy the ambience; not that the damp trench was the most scenic place. Still, it was arguably the safest with amusing remarks rolling off their tongues. All they really needed was to roll out a picnic mat and relax. What a pleasant place to be.

HOW TO PLAY

The game ends when either team successfully retrieved the other teams flag to their base. Team Spider Monkey will be starting the game in Zone 1 and Team Sloth will be in Zone 4 at the opposite end of the arena. There will be at most 10 rounds, each requiring a post of 200+ words. Please make sure you include your character's stats in your post.

During the first round only, each team must state which zone their flag is hidden in to the thread moderator. You may chose to hide the flag in any of the 4 zones. The flag remains in that zone unless successfully discovered or moved through gameplay mechanics. Do not reveal in game where the flag is located.

Each round, everyone in the team must make at least one action from the Capture the Flag actions list, unless they are unable to act due to a status effect or restriction. These actions are zone dependent. The team scores points by making successful flag actions or interceptive actions towards a flag carrier. Please note that players may only move between adjacent zones and cannot skip zones while travelling.

At the conclusion of each round, the zone state map will be updated to reflect all player locations. Players may only target characters who are in the same zone as them at the end of the previous round. If a target moves out of the zone during the following movement phase, the action automatically fails, with the exception of Flag Intercept and non-magical support actions that include a chase mechanic. When performing these actions, the player automatically follows the target into the destination zone as part of the interaction.

If the action fails while chasing, the pursuing player is left behind in the original zone while the target successfully gains distance.

You know... maybe Henry shouldn't have manifested his hopes for a break from the rain quite so forcefully. Or maybe it was simply monumentally bad timing. Either way, as he stepped from the despondent mire that Zone 3 had become into the scorching summer rays holding Zone 2 captive, that rain sodden grass sure did look a hell of a lot greener, now didn't it?

The mud caked in the boy's hair hardened and cracked like the sugar coating on a freshly bitten candy apple. Given the generally messy state of his locks, he looked a bit like an overgrown hedgehog who had just escaped a disastrous pottery class.

Encountering quite so many members of Team 1 in the same zone as him with so few of his peers near him hadn't quite been his plan for the day, but for the moment, the boy's (confused) sapphire gaze fell upon one individual with whom he was not at all familiar - Sir Humphrey D'Ogwarts III. "Terribly sorry if this is rude, but who the bloody hell are you?"

His eyes widened as he witnessed two of the other team members - the stranger included - attempt to set one of his teammates on fire. Okay! His opponents are not playing around! And they were quite possibly insane seeing as this was a bloody JUNGLE and the current zone is experiencing a HEATWAVE. Were they trying to literally cremate everyone involved, including the spectators? "Oh! Right! Um! I'll be going now!" The Hufflepuff's squeaky tone befitted his adolescent panic as he scurried between ancient trunks; he didn't particularly have a destination in mind, so long as he wound up anywhere that didn't involve this specific brand of lunacy.

"Don't just stand there like a chicken waiting in line for the rotisserie, Avery!"

Jada remained wary as Dido began gathering all sorts of bits and pieces together. She was building a trap, just in case any Sloths decided to go snooping around in this area. “How long is that going to take?” she asked, restless and wanting to further explore the arena, “How long do you think it will take until people find our flag?” The questions were rather pointless, Dido wouldn’t know much more than she did and, judging by the lack of response, wasn’t in the mood to share her thoughts. It was while she asked Dido one of these useless questions that the girl stood up. “Dido?” she called out. The girl walked as if in a trance: her eyes closed, moving gradually, step by step, closer to the riverbank. “Earth to Dido…” This time her tone was more cautious, almost sing-songy. The girl didn’t seem to hear her though. In a final attempt to get Dido to listen she reached out to grab her arm when Dido’s eyes popped open, suddenly and she stumbled over a stray root. Just as she was about to ask what on earth had just happened, another wonderful creature of the great outdoors came back to greet them. The great black Jaguar that they had encountered only minutes ago had come back for another round of fun. Only, this time around, it actually seemed to want to do harm. The golden blur leapt out of the bushes behind Dido, eliciting a small scream of surprise from Jada. Much to Jada’s surprise, the girl was able to move away in time and avoid injury. The cat’s second attempt was directed towards her. It was almost laughable in comparison to the first one. It had already lost its element of surprise enabling Jada to have eluded it by simply stepping out of its way. Alas, she wasn’t so brave and jumped rather than stepped aside. One could never be too cautious with these wild creatures. Even their looks could be decieving. “You okay?” she asked Dido. Much as she disliked the girl sometimes, the now shared a connection, having survived not one, but two jaguar attacks together.

The three girls in Zone 4 had nothing to do. Absolutely nothing.

Well, any defensive actions are useless since it is rather useless after all. De Vera turned to Denise after the downpour ceased and commented, "At this point, who needs to body-block when there's a downpour of Henry at us? It's raining men, bits of Henry, is that a nose?", making the young girl laugh. De Vera was indeed excellent at making jokes, and Denise appreciated the company, despite barely knowing De Vera.

Denise peered over to see lonely Vanes and decided to perhaps talk to her, despite being rather intimidating. She remembers she and Briar Anderson were friends, but doesn't recall what happened to Anderson, perhaps she moved or something else, hopefully not bad.

She spoke to Vanes, "I’m pretty sure I heard Holbrook screaming about a bug three zones away." Indeed, she heard something, but wasn't able to figure out what. Perhaps her ears were buzzing.

It was beautiful, though, since Denise was unaware of the silent Iara leaving the girls alone. She was also rather bored, since the other team was rather slow at coming to their base for something, attacking, something, regardless of the flag's status in any zone. Knocking her opponents KO sounded thrilling to the young, naive girl.

She could even nap, as it seemed perfect for now. Perfect before the storm, and hopefully, there isn't one.

Unlike the heavy showers in zone 3, zone 2 had now become excruciatingly hot. It was so hot that my soggy clothes and boots all dried up. The heatwave didn't seem to be affecting Olivia or Henry. Unlike them, I was feeling quite lightheaded. It felt like I'd collapse any second. In an attempt to cool myself off, I took off my jacket and tied it around my waist, and I splashed some water from the lagoon onto my face. But this hardly made any difference, I sighed and thought, Atleast on the bright side, the heat's seemed to have scared off the anaconda. I don't want to encounter it again, and hopefully I won't.

I started scavenging for the other team's flag. I checked the bushes, between the trees. I was sweating and was exhausted, but my search continued. After my thorough hunt, I realised that the flag wasn't hidden here. I sighed, and sat down for a bit.

Just then, we spotted the spider monkeys, and quite a lot of them were here. The only one of them I knew was Ophelia. I'd seen the others around school, except one of them, whom Henry called out to. Suddenly, the boy (Sir Humphrey) sent a bolt of fire my way, I dodged just in time, and watched as the flames hit the water. Did he just try to set me on fire! And what a weird spell choice, considering that we're in a rainforest, surrounded by flammable things. Outrageous indeed! Just then, Ophelia aimed her wand towards me as she muttered the same spell. I was ready to dodge, but her spell was unsuccessful. I smirked slightly, Too bad, I thought. I aimed my message at Ophelia and Sir Humphrey, "Trying to fry me alive? Well, that ain't happening folks. See ya.

Henry immediately sprinted through the trees, and called out to me, "Don't just stand there like a chicken waiting in line for the rotisserie, Avery!" I yelled back at him, "On my way", as I ran through the trees.

Well now that she was free, Fawkes had decided to hunt around for a bit and just check out the surroundings to see if the flag happened to be there. It was worth the shot to check every single zone for it in her opinion. After all, who knew what the other team was going to be planning.

She first attempted to climb up a tree. She wasn't able to climb that high, but whatever little she was able to climb, she used the height advantage to look around the area to see if she could spot the flag poking out anywhere. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to spot it from up above. She hopped down and began to check under every single branch, bush and shrub she could find. Sadly, even after scouring the whole zone, the flag was no where to be seen. Maybe the others had better luck.

Before she could proceed to do anything else however, she heard hissing. She looked around and found herself face to face with an Anaconda. To her credit, she did attempt to dodge the snake. However it was to no avail. She could feel the pressure on her bones. It was claustrophobic. She could barely breathe. She closed her eyes just hoping for it to stop. Luckily is soon did. She found herself on the floor gasping for air. She was definitely going to need a few minutes to recover.

The rain had stopped dripping from the jungle canopy after some time. Danielle was slowly moving ahead through the undergrowth as her steps became more cautious and measured because of the tricky wet mud and the eerie silence which seemed to be covering the whole forest.

It was too silent.

She clutched her wand tighter and tried to listen.

There was some rustle coming from behind her.

Before Danielle even managed to make a turn, a gigantic anaconda appeared right in front of her eyes.

She instinctively wanted to run, but the snake was faster.

In just a second the snake coiled around her waist, pulling the poor girl towards itself with unbelievable force. Another coil quickly covered her arms and immobilized her. Danielle felt her breathing interrupted as her lungs were pressed hard by the deadly coil of the anaconda. It squeezed her harder as she was desperately trying to get free.

"No..."

As she was fighting the deadly creature, the snake was squeezing her tighter and tighter.

Danielle realized that panicking would only waste her remaining energy and tried to stop struggling. Her wand was useless now as it was trapped between her robes and her body.

All she could do was try to be as still as she possibly could, breathe slowly, and hope that before the jungle realized it had her for dinner she was noticed by someone.
