Anna Karenina (Leo Tolstoy)- a novel by Leo Tolstoy set in Russia during the 1800s. It follows multiple characters and their love triangles, the writing style is so beautiful and the characters are interesting. It is a very tedious read but worth it. Content warning: animal death, substance abuse, suicide

The Great Gatsby (F. Scott Fitzgerald)- this has been one of my favorite books I've ever read, the descriptive elements are perfection and F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote a great novel. the characters are all very interesting and elaborate and I love the way it all came together.

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (Holly Jackson)- okay this is amazing. I'm not really a big fan of true crime, but this was amazing. Pip is a very interesting character and so was the plot in general. It does contain some profanity and more mature themes so do your reading to make sure you're comfortable before you read but I do recommend.

Radio Silence (Alice Oseman)- this is one of my most favorite young adult novels and is very relatable. Francis and Aled are detailed, layered, and elaborate characters and I love their plot lines. It is a good book with mental health as its main topic so read with caution, but it's very relatable especially for teenagers and young adults.

I have SO many book... and fanfic reccs but for posterity's sake, I will s/o the new Hunger Games book that just came out and say that whole series. Phenomenal writing, chef's kiss. Go read it and then watch all the movies because that might be one if not my favorite book to movie adaptation. Also the soundtrack for the movies eats and leaves no crumbs. It's the whole package.

I feel as if anyone who is into this website will be in The Raven Cycle written by Maggie Stievfater. The first book is called The Raven Boys. It follows a character who’s family are all mediums and a group of boys going to a private school looking for an ancient magical king… there are some interesting things going on in the strange town… 10/10 read.

Also, only since I recently reread it I’ll recommend Ready Player One. Such a lovely book for nerds

You should read Keeper of the Lost cities! Might be a bit young for some of you but it is really good!

I love the Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir. It’s science-y, space-y, and gothic.

Had to cut down this list twice until I had what I felt I needed to absolutely recommend, hope its not too much! '

1. The Ordinary Princess: 100% a children's book but easily the sweetest most adorable book I've ever had the honor of reading. Had it been written during the Grimm brother's time it would likely be considered a classic fairytale

2. The two princess of Bamarre: A middle grade novel but still great, the author is Gail Carson levine, who is known for her book Ella Enchanted, but frankly Ella enchanted is not her best book!! She has written a lot of other wonderful stuff that I highly suggest you check out!

3. The Lunar Chronicles: Its the most classic of Grimm's fairytales [that disney stole], told as cyberpunk stories. It is a fantastic and creative series.

4. The Villian's Code: A series that takes place in a world much like that of old comic books, where everything is possible and there is a constant struggle between good and evil. The book series is very original yet still hits that desire for DC/Marvel content.

5. The dresden files: A series that reads just like a classic P.I story, except theres loads of magic and mythology! I will note though that most people consider the first three books to be so bad that they recommend people to start on the 4th. If you find yourself reading the first book and in the same boat don't sweat over starting on book 4! The books are just barely episodic enough that you should be fine

6. Rachel Aaron: Her books fell off the grid once she started self-publishing even though they're wonderful!! Her first self-published series [heartstrikers] definitely could have used some pruning of the MC's long winded speeches, but her other three series, DFZ, DFZ Changeling, and Tearing down heaven are great!
* Her DFZ and Heartstrikers series is a fantasy/sci-fi series that takes place in our world. We have become quite technologically advanced, but magic has also recently returned bringing a number of beings [such as dragons] with it. I have been told it reads a lot like the book series Maze runner
* Tearing down heaven is a series based in Ancient Mesopotamian mythology. Complete with witches, demons, and a very murderous gilgamesh.

The first book that made me fall in love with literature was Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. It was a book that was very important to me. It gave me courage to face somethings in my life. It was also a very beautiful book, with beautiful illustrations and it was a gift from my grandfather. I could mention a lot of more books, but they are from my country’s authors that most of you wouldn’t be able to read! But they all have a special place in my personal library.

Colin and Liam's favourite author is J.R.R. Tolkien (surely he was a wizard!) So, not only are the four books everyone has read:

The Hobbit and
The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring; Two Towers; Return of the King

There are also many other tales that he wrote which were published after he died!

So, we've also got the Silmarillion; the Children of Hurin; Beren and Luthien; Fall of Gondolin. And there's also Unfinished Tales!

And!

Let's not forget the Adventures of Tom Bombadil and Famer Giles of Ham!
