The Hufflepuff Table 2017 - 2018
Stephen was walking around the castle, trying to familiarize himself with the locations of places, and then walked by the Great Hall. He glanced in the large open doors and noticed that there was food on the table and some students sitting around eating and chatting with each other. 'Well, I am pretty hungry' he thought to himself. He ventured into the hall and headed towards the Hufflepuff table. He found an open seat and sat down. The food in front of him looked delicious, so he began slowly eating while glancing around looking for any familiar faces. He did not see any so he just continued to eat and pulled out one of his textbooks. 'I better start reading up on some of this stuff considering I was late to many of my first classes' he thought.

What made this easy was that he was assigned to a table, the thought of freely choosing his table like in a normal school was a little nerve-wrecking. Still, he was pretty eager to meet the rest of his cohorts - whoever they might be. He was already hearing things he didn't hear often on his way to the table, 'muggle', 'half-blood', 'points', and among other things. His stride was short and he couldn't help but feel a little out of place with how slightly taller he was than the other first years. He might as well have been a second year student at this point, at least his robe wore well.
He made his way to the closest empty spot, taking a seat next to the boy who had pulled out a textbook. The food made quick work of his attention span and he reached for some of the contents on the table. Not wanting to be rude or odd, he struck up a conversation with the boy next to him. "What book is that class for?" he asked, placing a drumstick on his plate.
The book reminded him of his own classes, all of which he already forgot. Did he even get them at all? Wait, he did! He needed to pay better attention. Herbology.

Stephen, enjoying a nice warm sandwich, was lightly reading his Herbology textbook. 'Magical plants', he thought to himself, 'it seems like everything I grew up with has a magical side to it too that I never knew about'. He flipped towards the end of the book and began looking at the more advanced plants and herbs. 'Venomous Tentacula', he read quietly, 'green, spiky, toothsome plant with mobile vines that try to grab living prey...expels venom from its shoots, and its spikes are deadly. It's bite is highly venomous and can prove fatal'. Stephen looked up from his book with a slight look of panic. 'I better start paying more attention when I'm out on the grounds...' he thought to himself. Stephen then noticed a Hufflepuff student making his way towards him.
Hearing the boy ask him a question, Stephen finished up the bite he had just taken of his sandwich and stated, "Oh hey, this is for Herbology. Plants and stuff...fascinating" Stephen said this with a slight look of sarcasm. "I'm Stephen, by the way, nice to meet you", he continued, holding out his hand to shake. Stephen noticed that, like himself, this boy was also rather tall for his age. He was happy about this because the last thing he wanted to do was stand out and draw attention to himself.

The first year lightly laughs as he shakes Stephen's hand, the sarcasm in his voice couldn't be more agreeable. "Reid, it's a pleasure to meet you Stephen." The young wizard's robes were slightly more disheveled than most students, mostly due to his hurried state more than half the time. A pair of reading glasses hung from the neck of the black robe, cheap from the looks of it. He placed a piece of chicken into his mouth, quickly downing the small piece.
"I haven't had Herbology yet, but by how you sound - I'm not that excited." He pulled the book previously tucked from under his arm and showed it to him, Magical Drafts and Potions. "It's actually an interesting subject, but it's honestly hard to wrap my head around." he halfheartedly smiled. Reid picked up his goblet and took a small drink from it, placing it down right after. "Are you a first year?" he curiously asked, reaching over to pick up one of the small dessert cakes.

Jenna walks in and looks for Ani LaNorrei at the table. She frowns and sits at the end of the table.
"Salad with French dressing" She stated, and appeared on the plate in front of her. Her robes, looking brand new were clearly bothering her, shown by her scrunched up face. Jenna kept straightening them out and cringing. "Why can't these be more impressive?" she muttered.

Jenna smiled brightly. "Ani! My classes are going great! I like Herbology the best, naturally..."
She giggled. {Jenna is an environment lover who has loved plants her whole life and is fascinated by everything about the subject}
