Pea was using her last strength to attempt a fire spell and send it towards Julian, however her aim was off and quite possibly she was no longer in any condition to fight. It took a matter of seconds to prove this as she collapsed to the stage unconscious, causing the two knockback jinxes flying her way from the badger team, cast by Julian and Nessie to rush past her. They probably hadn't expected her to drop then and there or else they might have chosen to focus on her partner instead. Hanako was the only one being lucky enough right now it seemed, as his wind jinx would go straight for Julian and was quite powerful at that. However he was now also a lone viper, so that was quite a dangerous position to be in when facing a pair of duellists.

Slytherin vs Hufflepuff: Match 3
For someone on fire, she talked a lot. It was not that he wasn’t expecting her to respond in typical Fowl manner. He simply stared at her with a look that was hard to pinpoint. Like multiple contrasting thoughts were forming in his mind that his facial reactions couldn’t really just pick one to show. The silence was interrupted by a very thankful hufflepuff with comedic timing. “ Thank you!”
“Psdft” he couldn’t help but laugh. What does it matter if he was feeling a mixture of emotions. Having one of them being concerned was enough for him to look away from his partner with a satisfied smile. There was certainly a bit of admiration for her independence. From one independent person to another, he could at least do that.
It was also adorable how Prichard seemed to fumble over Fowl’s logic. Been there, done that. Her logic was a hard thing to grasp. If slytherin won this round, he wouldn’t mind seeing more of his adorable reactions another time~. A thought he decided to keep to himself at the very last minute, thinking the poor boy was already struggling with Pea.
Despite Fowl’s high opinion of herself, he trusted her enough to keep her cool just enough to be logical in this situation. Extinguish herself, and he’ll heal her in the next round. That was the plan. She could take care of herself.
Oh boy he was wrong. So so wrong.
He snapped his head back to Fowl when he felt a familiar fire spell sent from his side of the stage, and for a moment he looked crossed. “ Are you an actual idiot? I can’t believe you-” his heart (despite his reluctance) hammered in his chest as two spells directed at her, with one just barely missing her. It wouldn’t really matter anyway because she PASSED OUT.
Thinking it was ridiculous, he took a deep breath and scoffed. “ Oh wow, are those split ends I see? “ She didn’t even flinch at that, so she must really be out. He could not help but roll his eyes. Even when she was dragged away, Hanako seemed more annoyed than anything. First of all, how embarrassing that it bothered him that she was gone? Embarrassing! Really!
Hanako hadn’t had the best experience when being left alone in a duel. Last time he did, he gave up and forfeited to spare his health. He was half tempted to do it again, really. But he learned that some…viridian vipers, don’t take forfeit well. Losing wasn’t a good look either, but forfeit seemed like a whole other level. He wasn’t willing to go through that again. Also, he was suddenly determined to win this match so he could rub it in Fowl’s pretty face. With a reluctant sigh, he turned back towards the Hufflepuff, a pleased smile on his face now that the fog no longer obstructed anyones view.
“ Hey now ~“ he shrugged. “ Is this the part where we all use ‘that’ same spell over and over again until the rounds are over? Cauuuuusee y’know hahah~, it’s getting a bit tiring isn't it? “ For legal reasons, he isn’t allowed to specify which spell he was talking about. (I’ll leave it up to the Hufflepuff’s interpretation) “ How about just be proud that you managed to k.o my annoying partner and call it quits, hm? I promise, forfeiting isn’t as bad as most think.”

The moment came sooner than Julian expected. Despite the fact that both his and Nessie's attempts at taking Pea down failed, it wasn't long before she collapsed. Julian cast a quick look in the direction of his partner, wondering if she felt as bad for Pea as Julian did. Not only had she fainted, but she'd been in the middle of being berated by her partner when she did. Hardly a pleasant end.
The distraction cost him dearly and he soon found himself fighting to stay upright against more of Hanako's jinx. The boy was extremely disconcerting, but Julian had to recognise that his wind jinx was top notch. Though perhaps Hanako's strengths and idiosyncrasies were not the main thing he should be focusing on. He was feeling quite lightheaded. If they couldn't defeat Hanako soon, he was going to leave Nessie partnerless quite soon. And given how they barely touched the boy all duel, that was looking more likely than he'd like.

It wasn't like duelling was scored by style points. "And we've established we aren't forfeiting." That only made sense if you were absolutely sure you were going to lose, and how could you ever be sure of such a thing?

Nessie returned Julian's glance; she wasn't particularly happy at the elimination of one of the opposition either. The harsher realities of duelling weren't exactly her favorite parts of the sport. Nessie liked the opportunity for practice, and the idea of outwitting the other team. She didn't really care for feeling as though she'd played a hand in causing anybody to be unable to continue duelling.
"Agreed," Nessie chimed in, supporting her partner's opinion of their refusal to forfeit. Nessie might have been questioning whether she was cut out to be a duellist given her discomfort with certain parts of the sport - but she knew she wasn't going to quit on her team. Not now.

Julian decided to go all out in a true Hufflepuff fashion and went with yet another fire spell to be cast in this duel. Though he missed, Nessie was quick to back him up with his strategy and her fire spell actually managed to strike Hanako and singe his robes as he struggled to conjure up fog on the badger's side of the piste. The fog however was a success and created a veil around the Hufflepuff students, causing a severe loss of vision.

Slytherin vs Hufflepuff: Match 3
Hanako truly had to laugh at their reactions to his offer “ Awwww what a display of support among teammates~” he complimented with a grin, before shifting his smile into one thay indicated he looked down on the Hufflepuffs.
“ How gross. I realy can’t bother looking at this anymore. See ya~” and the duel started. Hanako already knew what to do to make this scene to his advantage despite his lack of capable partners. A strategy he’d hope the hufflepuffs groan at.
With an eye on Prichard, he somehow- miraculously really- evaded the terrible incendio that wouldve really done him some damage. Evasions were not his specialty. A fact he remembered when he felt hot sizzling sparks prickle his skin. Damn that 2nd year. He really shouldn't have blatantly ignored her. He hissed at the pain but somehow managed to still show a confident grin.
He was still in good shape.
“ Please, refrain from bragging about your comradeship. Especially after a poor boy like me just lost his partner ~ ” he chuckled, feeling immense satisfaction at his powerful fog. “ So, Cutie Puffs~. How’s the weather back there? Hard to see, hm? Shammmeeee. Can’t say I relate~” he gave a chuckle.
At this point they have possibly noticed each other's duelling pattern. There were no secrets when they were 2 rounds away from finishing the duel.

"What are you on about?" Julian scowled at Hanako. It rather stung for the other boy to bring up the mist he'd conjured. Julian could barely even see if any of their spells were hitting their opponent through it. It was beyond aggravating. "We're not bragging about anything." In what universe did simply agreeing something constitute bragging?
Not that Julian wasn't glad to have Nessie's agreement on whether they'd forfeit or not. But of course he did, because forfeiting when you had the numbers advantage simply made no sense. No matter how close Julian was to losing it for them.

Was their remaining opponent mocking them? Nessie didn't want to read too much into it, but wasn't it rather rude of the Slytherin to be inflicting a fog upon them, and then inquiring about the weather? Hanako was responsible for the current state of the weather! And Nessie was slightly tired of not knowing for sure where anything was, given that this was not the first time in the duel that this was happening to her. She was starting to wonder what the whole point in trying to do anything was, if she didn't really know where anything was.
Still, she wasn't going to give up. "The weather could be better," she pointed out sensibly. Perhaps the fog was just a misunderstanding?

Alan gave a smile as the duel was coming to a close. This would be the last round of spells and the duellists had to make it count. Julian would decide to go for the familiar Knockback jinx, a loyal ally to all duellists when the duel neared the end, an attempt to make as much of a difference as possible. Though this time, Julian would make none as his spell would miss. Nessie took the challenge of last minute to heart and through some sort of intuition perhaps predicted how to best direct her spell for it to hit its target, dealing out a whole lot of pain to Hanako. The boy had decided that he wouldn't sit by idle either. He went for the same spell, not very surprising to Alan as he had expected as much and went for Julian. The poor badger was not prepared to take another hit of such strength and the knockback sent him crashing backwards to the stage, making Alan wince as he held up his hand to stop the duel. He waited with worry as the fallen duellist was taken away from the stage before stepping away from his moderator's podium to congratulate the students.
"With that this duel has come to a close, Slytherin wins!"
Alan walked over to Hanako first, offering him a handshake and words of congratulations. He had left Tiger behind to sit on the podium still to ensure that Hanako had no reason to be scared or uncomfortable. "Perhaps you too should check in with the nurse," he advised gently, upon seeing how beaten up the viper looked, before heading toward Nessie to offer her the same advise. "You fought well, the last hit was especially impressive," he offered with a nod of acknowledgement and a slight grin.
This duel had went well!
