Wasn’t this great! Marina was covered in pigeon poop. She tried to brush a little off, but since there was so much, there was no point. She was actually happy about the waterfall that wasn't far ahead, because there was a chance it would remove the pigeon poop from her.

Where there were successes in this race, there were even greater failures. After shaking off passing through the fog, Ari wasn't exactly prepared for the force of the waterfall that was ahead. It poured down on him, and despite his best efforts, was anable to hold on. He scrambled to keep upright, but that only made it worse. With a yelp, he crashed into the water below. After a minute, he stood up, completely soaked, his bangs plastered over his eyes and his body sore. Thankfully, there was no further damage done. He'd really have to step up his game if he was going to help his team win.

Both Ari and Hunter were still covered in poop. What were they thinking? Did both of them love poop too much to the point where they don’t even care to get rid of it? Peculiar kids. She still tried to focus on Nicholas, and her racing thoughts. He entered the maze, and she couldn’t see him ever since. Maybe the maze kicked his arse for her, for grunting and the lazy wave. Though it was well deserved, she couldn’t help but worry about his well being. Hopefully he survived, so she can kick his arse herself.

Narrow passages? Piece of cake, what were a few bumps and bruises anyway? Fog? Sure, she could get through that with her eyes closed and her hands tied behind her back. Maze? Heck, she'd run through it a second time and still make it out in a fashionable manner.

Vines?

You know what- screw the vines. Vines had always been a reoccurring holdback in these races; and quiet literally.

Xailah didn't know what her deal was with them, but they always caught her at some point during a race, like a fly in a spiders web. She had predicted it before it happened- as a particularly dense webbing of vines came into view, she held her breath- knowing she had noticed it far too late. There was no avoiding it now. Delta sent her diving headfirst into the thicket and brambles- all while dodging a narrowly missed spell.

She was caught- well in fact. Despite the earthen restraints effectively restricting broom and rider, Delta still chugged on, pushing and straining against the bindings, digging the thorns into it's riders flesh and leather garbs. Xailah looked to the side to see if Bloom was still nearby. She was, and by the looks of it, she was just as stuck as Xailah was. Should the other girl look her way, the metamorph would offer her a faint smile. "It would appear we are in a bit of a tangle. Do you need a hand?"

The timing was just slightly off, and Hunter cursed a bit beneath his breath in Kiswahili as his flipendo hadn't reached Xailah. He had slowed down to make his shot perfect, but her speed gave her enough distance to essentially out run the shot. What has happened, happened. He just needed to focus and keep going.

She still hadn't caught her bearings from the confusion in the fog. Upon leaving the misty cloud, Della felt something push into her hard. Two things really. In blur of blue, she realized what happened. Two Ravenclaw racers forcefully collided with her. She put this together from her perspective on the ground, her broom and her body no longer in the air. It seemed the two racers were sharing a broom. Maybe that's why the fall felt like it hurt twice as much.

Hugh’s challenge was instantly answered by a flock of pigeons. “Well, I guess I deserved that one” he said to himself, as he curved down the next bend. Though he had not changed his mind on the matter. Pigeons for dinner it was. He could already taste them through the smell of bird poo sliding off his helm and shoulders.

Bloom felt a sense of ego going through the cave. She, for sure, thought she was going to get through with flying colors, but it seemed not as so. As she was coming out of the cave, there were vines in the way. Bloom tried her hardest to get through the holes of the vines, but it was not enough. The speed she was going got her tangled in the mess. Luckily, she wasn't the only one. Xailah who was at her speed had gotten caught as well. In a way, it was a blessing that both of them got caught, to keep them at the same level.

Though something was up with Bloom. Her breathing started to get heavy. Xailah spoke to her, and Bloom couldn't help but give her a small smile and shake her head. Help would have been nice, but she wanted to get out on her own. But what was making her feel weak? She looked down to see her leg and saw how banged up it was with blood and scratches. How long had she been losing blood? Perhaps that's where the light headedness was coming from... Bloom tried to slow her breathing, focusing on what to do next.

There was a lapse in the movement of the Ravenclaw racers (as unfortunately the deadline was missed to submit actions). Bloom and Nick remained trapped in their respective units as Bloom's surprising strength failed her, while Xailah's twig arms managed to find a weak spot to snap free from the vines. Nicholas attempted to navigate the complex network of tunnels that comprised the maze, following the flow of the wind and small rays of light to find himself... right where he started. How can someone travel so much and not move at all? "Follow my voice, McCowan!" the announcer shouted. Leave it to the magical maned Mr. McCowan to show us how it's done. Or at least he would be showing us, if he weren't in the maze right now, and thus not visible to the spectators. If Aurora was watching the race, she might be worried hat her beloved was lost behind the waterfall forever...

A half-giant comes screaming out of the fog and attempts to slam into the pair of girls who were sharing a broom in the same unit. Like a freight train barrelling down the tracks, however, it's difficult to make a turn to correct when the pair of Ravenclaws hold on tight and roll out of the big lad's way. "Whoa! An impressive display of airborne dexterity by the pair of birds sharing a perch - there goes Lowe!" It was totally cute and funny that he tried to body-slam two girls half his size, not terrifying at all. Lucky for them, they aren't impacted by the two-ton elephant of a Gryffindor, who continues on into the waterfall in the next unit. Below the action, Della feels around in the fog, locating her broom again and ascending to race once more.

UNIT 11 - Moderate Waterfall

Hugh flies through the waterfall as if it were a refreshing shower. George blushes. Marina holds on for dear life and just barely makes it through, her drenched hair clinging to her face. Hopefully those uniforms are water-resistant.

UNIT 12 - Moderate Narrow Passage
Accuracy DC to avoid hitting your head: 18

Marina's roll: d20 (9) + 6 Acc - 3 Spd = 12 Fail

Ow! Marina smacks her head for speed * 10 = 40 damage.
Marina: 715 – 40 = 675/900 HP

Marina's movement ends here. She doesn't have the chance to blatch Hunter, as he was in unit 9 and they did not share a unit at all this turn.

The disorientation from going through the foggy area of the maze continues as Marina is unable to get her bearings in time to avoid impacting the passageway behind the waterfall. Who put that there?! Oh well - what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and the little lion is certainly going to have to put on her brave face to put up with what lies beyond the maze. The girl comes to a halt and waits, ready to clothesline Hunter when he arrives... but he doesn't. An anticlimax for the spectators.

Nick is stuck in the maze and failed the wisdom roll, so he stays in the maze. He will get another attempt next round.

UNIT 18 – Easy Thorns

The triumphant Gryffindor front-runner makes it through the thicket of thorny branches after breaking free from the vines, possessed by speed as she drives forward without an ounce of concern for her fog-dizziness. The wind is flying over her shoulders as she drives forward, breaking speed records as she zooms in the direction of the finish line. Nothing can stop her now!

UNIT 20 – Giant Squid
Evasion DC : 25

Xailah is grabbed by the squid, and will need to succeed at a Strength roll (DC 15) to escape next round or be knocked off her broom.

Oh, right. Just when things were looking good for the Gryffindors, a slimy tentacle whipped out from the surface of the water and wrapped itself around Xailah's waist, grabbing on tight. "Whoa!" says George, amid a round of gasps from the assembled spectators. From the looks of things, it was trying to pull her down into the water - and it will, unless Xailah can pull off an impressive feat of strength.

Submitted Plays

Squirming in the vines, Bloom saw that Xailah had made it out easily. Bloom, on the other hand, was stuck in the vines. The more she moved, the more she was tangled up more and more. What made things worse, was that she was still bleeding. She felt herself getting weaker and weaker. To be weak and tangled in thick vines was not a place Bloom wanted to be in. But she was not going to be one to give up. Although everything was getting a bit dizzy and lightheaded, she tried her hardest to try and get out of the vines and catch up to Xailah. She was not going to let Ravenclaw down.
