"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Sophia laughed deliriously as she realized that she wasn't the first one in the duel to be knocked unconscious. She'd expected to be pushing up daisies at this point, but here she was, enduring and surviving! Maybe it was the head injury influencing her actions, but she felt proud!
Her previous spell's aim'd been a bit off, but she was duelling against older, more experienced wizards, so that was to be expected. Honestly, the fact she'd managed to even land a single spell was impressive enough in her eyes, and she felt that she could recount this duel to her grandma with pride before going back to school.
Now, since the rhythm of the duel was clearly pointing to the Hogwarts students eliminating the foreign students, Sophia opted to try something a bit braver than what she'd done thus far.
"Flipendo!" she said with garbled words, and her wooziness chose that moment to strike. As she staggered on her feet, the burst of light from her knockback jinx escaped her wand and, while it was quite the performance of the spell in her eyes, it landed nowhere near the intended target. Sophia shook her head to try to steady her vision.
As her vision cleared a tiny bit, even if only for a moment, Sophia saw Peri's incendio heading in two directions: toward her disastrously missed target, and toward Kim.
The bluehead winced at the idea of her best friend being burned alive like that, but Peri had specifically instructed her to set her friends on fire, so he was just doing the work for her, if anything.
"Hangin' in there, Kim?" she slurred with genuine worry in her voice. She'd been surprised that Kim was a target, but she figured they'd have to turn to the Gryffindor's eventually. They were enemies at the moment, after all.
What caught her attention, though, was Peri's spell spread. She'd seen him do it a few times so far, but it was always amazing.
"You gotta teach me that, one day," she told him. "The split, two-target thingy."
Sophia returned her attention once more to her primary goal: survival. She just had to overcome this wooziness, and maybe victory was in sight?

It felt almost like an execution squad, all mass firing on one target (almost). The spread spell didn’t escape Galton’s gaze, but it didn’t make the situation feel any less brutal. He had to wince as his flipendo only glanced the poor boy - his misery may have ended had it not been for his subpar aim.
There were always things to improve on. His wand would remind him whenever he caught himself getting too relaxed. He couldn’t get too relaxed, especially with his partner on fire next to him. Seems like the dancing joke may have been in bad taste. He was burning a hole on the floor with his moves now though.

With each split spell, Pericles experienced a dividing pull upon his psyche. This was his first time utilizing the ability in an authentic capacity, outside of training, and thus far it had gone spectacularly. Yet in that same vein, he felt he was testing fate with mounting boldness. His skull swam with breathing techniques, posture, honing his will, directing his intentions- sometimes in two different directions. Thoughts were beginning to blur. But his partner was still with him (albeit cackling in classic witch fashion), and his magic had hit true without flaw, making this duel one of his personal best. No reason to let the pressure get to him now. Right?
Their scheme had been to finish off the visiting team, yet when Sophi's spell went awry and struck Kim, Pericles adapted accordingly. Both enemies were under the influence of debuffing spells. Why not aim for both? With a decisive flick, twin flames bolted from the wand. The Ravenclaw was unrelenting, inexpressive, only showing a twinge of wry pity when their target failed in sending a storm their way. It rapidly relaxed into an approving smile when Sophi spoke. Her condition worried him, but her tenacity made up for it, especially in the face of her first match. Peri was impressed. He gave an enthusiastic nod when she asked about spell-spreading, assuring in the lapse between incantations a brief but promising "I'd be happy to."

Gryffindor and Ravenclaw abandoned their all-out assault on Rodion at the same time, even though he was still standing. It was logical, of course. Sure, he was up, but he was reeling from all those Flipendoes, on fire, and had failed his last spell. He wasn't much of a threat, could probably be taken out by a particularly strong gust of wind if the fire didn't do it.
Galton and Pericles both went for what had the potential to be incredibly devastating split Knockback Jinxes. Galton was half-successful, missing Sophia but nailing Pericles, the first hit on the older Ravenclaw this duel. And perhaps it was the shock of that first blow, or mental fatigue after how on his game he'd been, but Pericles also had a 50% success rate, just for a different reason. His half-failure was a little worse, the second split of his wand only coming off in a few weak sparks. Still, the successful stream hit the also previously untouched Galton.
It seemed likely Kim would be the next one to fall, and he accordingly shifted all his focus to dodging. But no spell ever came--he wasn't as popular as Galton, it seemed, or Ravenclaw had been counting on Pericles' spell to hit him. Whatever the case, he might appreciate the moment to breathe, put that fire out.
Much of the audience probably had their eyes on Galton and Pericles now; they were the experienced elder members of this duel, both capable of showy feats of magic. But anyone watching Sophia would have the treat of seeing her spell swell to epic proportions, light bright and brilliant as it raced towards Galton. It would be spectacular if it hit, throw Galton into the most lively jig anyone had ever witnessed, surely, but Galton was fast, had an intuitive sense of how best to dodge. The spell would amount to nothing.
And with little fanfare, somewhere amidst all the casts, Rodion would keel over. He'd kept his feet in the immediate aftermath of the barrage, but he was clearly not doing well enough to take action and the pain of the fire proved to be too much. "Stop!" Bridget called hurriedly, mostly because she was pulling her own wand out to point at the storm cloud, casting the countercharm. She'd seen those things strike right as someone went unconscious more than once, and it was just unnecessarily cruel, not to mention dangerous. With the cloud taken care of, Rodion was removed from the stage for medical treatment.
And then it was two, down to Ravenclaw and Gryffindor like this was any old Hogwarts 2 vs 2 duel, disregarding the fact that everyone was already battered. It was clear the guest team was going down, but who would come out on top wasn't so certain. "Okay, resume."

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | Luck was definitely on their side. Rodion got taken out of his own accord and Gryffindor was left against Ravenclaw. Oddly enough, it seemed as if Gryffindor and Ravenclaw considered eachother to be rivals more than their long-standing tradition of their 'enemy' being Slytherin. Perhaps it was simply expected for Gryffindor to be against Slytherin due to the Harry Potter era. But it was now a new era and Ravenclaw was proving much more of a thorn in their side than Slytherin. At least for now. It was time for their focus to narrow on their only remaining opponents. The two Claws. Although, Kim had debated about attacking, he'd decided against it to put the fire out of his clothes. After all, if the fire spread, he'd end up half-naked and although it would be quite a sight for Sophia's eyes, Kim didn't want to be the one responsible for knocking her out due to showing off his sexy side. If he had to knock her out, he'd prefer it be from a spell, not because she couldn't handle seeing his bare skin. Thankfully, while Kim was busy snuffing the fire out, no spells were aimed at him. Unfortunately, that meant his partner was being attacked. But Kim had faith in Galton's skills. Galton was a higher year too, so he'd had a lot of experience in duels before now. He glanced back up again to take note of what was going on now. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────

Pericles and Galton would exchange flipendos. Both would feel the familiar sting of such an impact. While familiar at this point in his dueling career, the first hit of any game stung on a different level. No matter how prepared you were, it always hurt just a bit more than anticipated.
But Galton was happy he’d been the one to take the hit over his partner. Kim was looking much worse for wear than Galton. As the match was paused and the foreign boy carted away, Galton would dust off his robes and shout over to Kim. “We’re half way through! You’re doing great.” Half way though and yet to be claimed by force or flame. Let’s hope it stayed that way.

"Tarantallegra!" Sophia attempted once more, this time aiming for Galton instead.
It wasn't as if she didn't want to take down the foreign team first as they'd essentially committed to doing early on, but based on how the poor Rodion looked, she would have felt horrible if she'd attacked him. So, instead, she went after Galton. Then she wouldn't have to deal with the guilt of attacking a burning, injured boy or attacking her good friend Kim.
This time, however, there was something different about her Dancing Feet Jinx. She'd casted it before, though admittedly unsuccessfully during her first year, but this was different. In that moment it was as if the theory behind the spell casting and the practice just clicked for her in a way they never had.
It was the most perfect spell she'd ever cast, and she could tell as much from the moment it left her wand.
...Unfortunately, it wasn't the most accurate spell she'd cast, likely due to her lightheadedness or Galton's own skill. The boy's reflexes seemed to be incredible, and her spell didn't come anywhere near him. At least it hadn't hit Kim again.
Kim seemed to be focusing on avoiding taking the brunt of any spells, and it might just have saved him in the duel. Peri apparently decided to keep acting as an example of his own advice to follow: he'd instructed Sophia to attack her friends, and now he was going for her friends in her place. If Kim hadn't been dodging, that Flipendo probably would have hurt.
...if it hadn't fizzled out, at least. Spell-splitting - or whatever the higher years called it - looked super hard, so Sophia was just impressed he'd managed it so many times already, and he'd still hit Galton, so it wasn't a complete loss.
As Rodion was carted away after apparently succumbing to his wounds, Sophia turned to Peri again and offered an encouraging smile.
"Not too bad, huh?" she asked happily.
"We'll get 'em soon. I know we will."
She spoke the last bit a bit louder, hoping to playfully taunt Kim. She still wasn't completely there mentally, and she could feel herself running out of steam. She needed to lie down, urgently, but she could hold off until they won the duel. She was representing Ravenclaw, and she couldn't let them down.

There it was: the next try at splitting a spell felt something like pulling a muscle, only in his mind. The incantation was followed by fluttering blinks and an audible huff as only one Flipendo flew across the piste. Pericles almost looked dazed, if only for a moment, enough to acknowledge he may wish to stop testing his luck so drastically. The returned strike, too, worked to knock some sense into him. It always brought a piercing kind of clarity, the first hit of a match. There was luck at play that he'd have time to catch his breath, as the last of the Visiting opponents mercifully collapsed.
He resisted the urge to hold his stomach, breathing through the pain, hiding it by stiffening his stance. Sophi's words were a better distraction yet. He used the pause to get a good look at her for what felt like the first time in ages- or at least, since the duel had started. "Not bad a'tall," he insisted back. "You should be proud." There passed a heartfelt smile from one Ravenclaw to another, and Pericles withheld the temptation to ask if she was alright. Of course she was... she was still on stage! Poor Rodion was being cleared. Things would resume at any moment, so he hollered across to the Gryffindor team, cupping his mouth. "It's down to Hogwarts, then? That's a win in itself." But lest they think he was about to go soft on them, Peri added with an odd gleam in his eye, "May the best House be left standing."

The spell backfired. How did it backfire? Why did it backfire? Imagine if his father were to see him in this exact scenario. He’d be double banished, estranged, deported to another planet. This was the biggest humiliation anyone could ever get. Why did it had to be him? For all those training, did it mean nothing at all?

Two teams remained. This would be a round of regrouping; Galton and Kim looked to set the stage to their advantage--or just for really cool, really hard-to-see-through aesthetics--and Pericles looked to bolster his teammate's dwindling strength a bit. Hopefully it would do something for Sophia's apparent head injury, though of course such a basic healing spell wasn't going to be enough if this was a concussion they were dealing with. Frankly, Bridget wasn't sure she should still be playing. She knew magic made medical endeavors operate differently, but everything she'd grown up with said to pull someone immediately if you suspected a concussion so it couldn't get worse. Well, someone with more medical knowledge was surely watching on.
So Pericles eased some of Sophia's bruising. Galton obscured the two in thick fog soon after. And Kim tried to make it ever thicker--in other words, fully impossible to see through--but fumbled with his magic again, no more than some weak curls of smoke emitting from his length of wand. Well, Bridget was thankful she was keeping some visibility.
Sophia was the only one on the attack this round, and it would perhaps be a source of drama. For the first time this duel, excluding that purely accidental dancing spell, she was going for Kim, her friend. Perhaps she had finally taken Pericles' words of wisdom to heart. Or perhaps she was doing it because she felt like she should, and her heart still not being in it threw off her aim. Anyway, it didn't hit, but Kim had probably seen the attempt.
