Hestia nodded, taking the information in slowly. "Nice and smart..." She repeated. She could handle people who were nice and smart, right? She wasn't that shy, as long as she knew someone there she would be fine. She might talk a little bit too much, but that was normal when she was around people she knew. "They sound great." She said with a smile. "Did you guys meet in a class or something?" she asked, curious as to how he knew two other Ravenclaws. Up until now she had figured each house kind of kept to itself, Reid was her first friend from a different house.

She wondered if she would be allowed to sit with other houses at meal time, although if these Dymphna and Bloom people really were nice to her she figured she could always sit with them. She had been sitting alone up until now, which she didn't mind too terribly. Allowed her to do her homework and read her books. But nonetheless, it still got a bit lonely from time to time. And if she was in a study group with the people she sat with, they would be able to help her with more. Probably. "Dymphna's a cool name." She commented to no one in particular, keeping her voice down so the girl Reid had pointed too couldn't hear. "I haven't heard it before."

Reid tidied his desk as he talked to her, although it was in small movements because he didn't want to seem like he was not paying attention to her. His eyes would glance over the other students, seeing what they were doing out of pure curiosity. He already forgot about what they were talking about, yet he rode the tangent anyway. Yet there was always that creeping caution of making sure that the Professor didn't see them chatting it up too much. His attention snapped back to Hestia, nodding at her question.

"I met her at History of Magic class, well we didn't properly meet until she found me in the Corridors." he replied, setting his quill aside. "She gave me the notes I missed." There were things that Reid forgot, but he hardly forgot things when it came to friends. He almost always seemed to remember where or how he met people, he'd know their birthdays too if they'd let him.

In some ways this was also nice since he was glad he'd be able to introduce Hestia to two well mannered students, the bonus was that they were in the same house. He was hoping to make more friends in the other houses, even Slytherin. Although with what he's heard so far, the house of emerald didn't exactly seem like the most friendliest of them. Everyone in his house seemed to be busy and he rarely ran into the chance to talk to them.

Students like the Ravenclaws made his experience at Hogwarts the best so far, perhaps houses didn't truly dictate a nature of a person. He glanced back towards the Professor who seemed to want the attention of the students. "I hope you can come to the group this Saturday, we'd love to have you." he said in a soft and low voice. Reid began to turn himself back to the lesson, making sure he didn't topple an inkwell or two.

I'm going to informally exit the thread after this post. But I'd love to RP with you more outside of this one if you're interested :^)

"I'll totally come." Hestia said with a nod and a big smile. "Thank you for inviting me." She glanced around to see if Reid had saw something that drew his attention away. but found nothing and turned back to her work. She scribbled some of their conversation down in her notebook. At least the part of the conversation that related to class anyways.

She was about to say something to Reid, but closed her mouth when she saw he had turned back to his own notes. So instead she just put a reminder in her notebook for the study group and started doodling around the margins of her notebook. Big swoops and curls started decorating the page, she even drew chibi forms of Reid and herself. They weren't the best drawings given she was eleven, but she liked how they came out anyways. She gave the little drawings quills and books to make it look like they were studying together, then put her real quill down and looked up at the professor to see what it was he would say next. She placed her elbow on the table, and her chin in her palm, her smile slowly fading as the lesson went on.

Kyden slid into a seat and listened intently to to the professor. He rummaged in his bag for a quill and some parchment. He started righting down everything that was written on the board. He had never been a good note taker. He just copied everything he possibly could and went from there. Let's see Let's see, what i want to learn this year. Talk to your neighbor. Talk to your neighbor,He thought to himself. Kyden wasn't a shy kid but for some reason being here at Hogwarts and all these class, the huge castle, all the people, being so far from the only home he ever knew it was a bit scary and made him shy back a bit. He slowly turned to look to either side of him. To the left of him was the wall, so he slowly turned to his left.  "Hi I am Kyden. So what are you excites you about this class? I am so excited to learn to just transform things really. The idea of being able to change things to something it wasn't supposed to be don't you think. I mean really if you think about it turning an inanimate object into an animal is really thrilling" He stopped talking and smiled.

Morgana was deeply involved in the professor's lecture, taking very detailed notes as lecture continued. Her notebook was filled to the brim with notes about the history of Transfiguration, the mathematical properties of the act (Transformation: t, bodyweight: a, viciousness: v, wand power: w, concentration: c, and the unknown variable Z), and even the science behind it.

However, it greatly disturbed her that most of her classmates were more into idle chitchat then actually progressing their knowledge in magic. Morgana rolled her eyes when she heard two of her classmates complaining about the subject.

Can't they understand that this will help them in the future? Morgana thought to herself critically.

The one thing both she and her mother, Farley, despised was people not putting in the work to better themselves.

Morgana continued her notetaking until she realized she was almost out of ink.

Odd Morgana thought, perplexed I could have sworn this jar would have been enough for this class. Never mind, a good witch is always prepared.

The pale skinned girl slipped the now stained jar into her pocket, which landed with a loud clink.  The teacher whipped around and glared daggers at the first year.

"Miss Cianna."

Morgana slowly looked up, setting the new jar down carefully on her desk.

"Yes, sir."

"You should have gotten your materials out a long time ago, Miss Cianna." The teacher scolded, pointing his dark oak wand at her. Many students turned and giggled at Morgana.

"I know, sir, but I simply ran out of ink and I was getting some more." Morgana calmly explained. She stuck her hand back into her warm pocket and retrieved the empty jar. She held it up in the glimmering candlelight as proof.

The teacher squinted his eyes, but sighed and looked at the class as a whole, "Now, children, as I was going to explain, we are going to get into pairs and see if any of you can turn a feather into a tiny glass vial. You have the rest of the class period to try and accomplish this task."

Everyone stood up and started chatting loudly with one other. The professor started to hand out the feathers to people with a partner. Morgana stood up slowly and looked around the room for someone wanting to be her partner.

The girl and Lex stopped talking after a bit, having nothing to say. He still wondered why he had an odd feeling about her. His curiosity slowly died down as the lesson went on, more students entered, diverse in houses. Lex twirled his quill around as he toyed around with the formula on a spare piece of paper that had scribbles all over. It reminds him of the time he spilled ink all over his Uncle's artwork but instead of scolding him, he turned it into something else interesting. 'Maybe transfiguration is like that.' he hummed quietly to himself, blocking out the chatter and all. He almost drifted off to sleep if it weren't for his thoughts on the subject.

The students were talking about transfiguration, their thoughts about it at first, then what they wanted to do with it in the future. He didn't try to talk to anyone else, staring off into the distance. He still paid attention, but half his mind wandered to other places like his imagination and his memories. His stoic face watched tales unfold as he waited for the class to proceed.

He didn't notice a boy a few desks away trying to start a conversation, probably with someone else. He didn't giggle or point at the girl who made a noise too loud from obtaining ink. It was nice that he wasn't noticable, saves trouble. It seemed boring
, but he wanted a lazy day. As the professor announced their task, Lex reeled himself back and sighed looking around. A partner. Again. He put his quill down with shaky hands as he glanced at the wriggly words he wrote. To this day his writing is still very messy, but understandable to an extent.

After a few seconds of staring at what he doodled and wrote, he scanned the room for a partner. He didn't really know anyone here, at least from who he'd seen.

Kyden noticed a girl that seemed really interested in Transfiguration. He moved over by her and smiled at her. "Hi, I am Kyden would you like to be partners." He knew she was fellow Slytherin and he thought he had heard her say her name was Morgana or something like that. He looked around the room watching the others quickly pairing up with each other and receiving their feathers from the Professor. He sighed knowing that if she said no to him then he was going to be the 1 student that would be left without a partner. He didn't want to be the odd man out already. He glanced up at her again. He hated being so short people tended to often look over him and forget he was there. He noticed her notice and pushed his closer to his. They had almost taken identical notes. Where Kyden had written word for word everything the professor said she had left things out and shortened them but both students had very detailed notes for this class. He smiled at her. "You seem like you are as excited to learn as I am. I think we would make great partners."

Morgana blankly looked at the boy who called himself Kyden. He was quite short for his age (or so she believed, she never really looked at people her age that much) and noticed his hair was quite messy. Her fingers twitched at the thought of just fixing it. She blinked her cold hazel eyes at him and muttered, "Sure."

She pulled her chair closer to his and settled down. She took a quick glance at his notebook and noticed something was a little off. She thought about not saying anything, but she finally decided to let out a simple, "Its Z for the unknown variable, not E, but I understand the mistake."

When he gave her the compliment about her notes, Morgana gave a tiny nod and started flipping through her Transfiguration textbook to find the right spell.

"Here," Morgana tapped the page, "the Transfiguration Spell. We can easily turn the feather into a glass vial if we aren't foolish. Here, you may have the first try."

Morgana carefully slid the book over to Kyden and watches as he begins to read it. As he does, Morgana decided to look around the room. Many students were rereading the textbook, looking quite nervous. Other students were wildly waving their wands around in the hopes of producing some type of spell. And the final group of students was a group of girls just chatting with each other, talking about their homes and pets and stuff. Morgana rolled her eyes.

"Fools, aren't they," Morgana stated through narrow eyes, "can't they understand that all the knowledge we learn here will be useful later?"

Morgana let out a soft sigh, "I guess they'll be the ones cleaning cat dung and feeding frogs in simple pet stores, no?" She picked up her wands and slowly twirled it in her right hand with her cold, pale fingers.
