The cloud was completely absent this round, despite still casting a shadow over the Ravenclaw side. Callie did a very nice move and shot the spell at both Slytherin duellists, but only one of them reaching the target and the target was Astrea. The knockback seemed to ruin the plans of the Slytherin girl, and was probably one of the reason's her own spell backfired. Double damage this round.

Aida seemed to try conjuring a very nice flame, but most probably the dizziness from the recent lightning strike did its business and the spell fizzled. Sarah, on the contrary, seemed to know her business well and sent a decent Flipendo Aida's way, which successfully reached its destination.

Sarah realised with a grim sort of laughter that that round should have been her last. She wasn’t entirely sure why it hadn’t been when it was obvious that both Ravenclaws had intended to go all out on the Slytherin girl. She put down her ability to do accurately dodge the incoming attacks down to her lifetime of dance classes and, though she’d never admit it to her father, perhaps his constant desire to be perfectly poised and attentive had also been of help. Either way, she was grateful the flames that Aida had conjured didn’t manage to hit her this time - skin still prickling from the last bout of fire she’d been dealt. She was considerably less excited about her partner, who’s backfired spell managed to knock her back and down. She resisted the urge to turn all of her focus towards the other Slytherin to make sure she was okay, both from the spell that had hit her and from the fact that the spell had backfired in the first place. Astrea was a far better duellist than that. Instead she kept her focus on her opponents, ready to fight whatever they threw her way.

Oh, the sting of betrayal! Forced back and left to pull herself back up, the bitter aftertaste of magic gone wrong lay heavy upon her tongue, caught wrangling between clenched teeth and firm incantations. The ache of her physical body felt insignificant in comparison to the mental humiliation, as if salt in the wound that neither one of their opponents had dealt the harsh blow. But wallowing in such self-pity would do very little in the scheme of things, especially with her partner somehow still standing and the clock still ticking, so what more could Astrea do than tighten her grip and refocus herself?

Being on fire and general misfortune when it came to spell casting was something Callie had grown frighteningly accustomed to. While some people might’ve had more experience in more academic pursuits, Callie had a wealth of experience in being a victim of various deadly happenings. Ah well, at least duelling was fun and most importantly optional. Spider kebabing? Not so much.

The next several seconds seemed to flow directly into the Ravenclaw team's arms. The new target, Astrea, was suddenly and successfully hit by two people at once, sending the poor Slytherin quite far away. The spell Astrea shot herself, changed direction and hit the ceiling instead. Difficult to properly aim when two spells are shot at you at once. Sarah tried to bring some creativity to the trio of Flipendos with a Tickling Charm, but due to its unsuccessful arrival to its destination, the spell just simply faded unnoticed by the most.

Aidas words of encouragement put a smile on Callie’s face in spite of her own underlying concerns. Her recent bout of bad luck over the past year had left Callie particularly pessimistic in most situations, especially in duels. Either way the duel would come to an end soon and one way or another Callie was fully intending to devour an insane amount of sweets afterwards to satisfy her sweet tooth.

The sheer audacity of suddenly being targeted led to Astrea's failure to dodge around the twin knockback jinxes headed in her direction. What say this? It was as if her partner was nothing more than a supporting character, deprived of the barest scrap of dignity to be finished off properly. The impromptu change of pace, which was no doubt an enthralling journey for their spectators, was a move so impudent that it was no wonder her own spell veered elsewhere.

With such a devastating loss of gained traction, the round's events only proved that the tides of luck were ever-flowing. Fickle. Duelling was not something set in stone, and an active duel was even less so. Somehow, they would need to simply shift this unpredictability in their favour.

Luck, the fickle thing it was, clearing was not on the side of the snakes. Even the most talented of spellcasters relied to some degree on luck, and unfortunately, the Slytherin's could clearly not rely on it for this duel. Sarah wasn't sure what exactly led to her spells ultimate miss of its target. Perhaps she was growing tired from this ongoing duel, in both body and mind. Or perhaps it was the sheer distraction caused by her partner being thrown backwards as she was hit by twin spells from their opponents which made her miss. Either way, it left the snakes in a difficult position. One she'd much rather not be in at this stage of a duel. Still, they were a talented pair and she'd seen younger, less seasoned duellists come back from worse situations (or at least that's what she tried to convince herself) so they could still do this. And if she had any doubt about that fact, she didn't let it show in her eyes, still steeled, still narrowed, still focussed. This wasn't over yet.
