[reducio]KEEPER'S CATCH
Edward was simply just a young boy who seemed to enjoy facing trivialities. But of course, nothing treacherous. He was one who wanted to avoid murder at all costs, but yet, still be the intimidating one. But of course, he thought too much of himself. Perhaps it was time for Edward to learn how to protect others. He was a cowboy, at heart, but why should he be betrayed by a lone stigma of a heart that lies behind? He would learn how to yeet a quaffle towards people. But what he had to learn first, was how to properly be a Quidditch player, even to fly better than he ever did. Which, he never did. He usually was always on his horse, Thunder, as his only solo riding experience. Now, he needed to learn how a broom worked. After taking the basic training of Flying class, his dad sent him a broom that wasn’t a school broom. It was the Nimbus 1500. And he read up on how Quidditch worked, as well as the understatement of how vital each player had.

Edward truly loved reading up on both the Keeper, and the Beaters. Mainly because of their hidden secrets. Even the plays sounded so awesome, and he couldn’t help but feel so intrigued to even join in the practice. He worked with a boy who also had a similar broom he had, and he started to study and learn how to peg others with the Quaffle. The boy did agree to this, as he was someone that Edward passed by with a feeling of mutualism. But nevertheless, a small chat, and they had the agreement for practice.

Edward got onto his broom, hovered above the ground by the goals, and the boy would intentionally try to throw the Quaffle into one of the hoops, and the first few times, Edward rather missed the catches. He wasn’t a great catcher but he would attempt his hardest to snatch it from going through the goals.

Something stuck out in his head. He catches the ball, he can do three things. But maybe he oughta catch the Quaffle first, before he can throw it as a deadly item, since he didn’t have other people to practice with, but the young Smith had quite a throw.

A few attempts later, he finally caught the Quaffle. “FINALLY!” He cried out, then proceeded to throw the Quaffle at the boy. And it didn’t peg him. But it whizzed past him.

He continued to give it a try, trying so hard to increase his skill, and finally, he managed to hit the boy square in his jaw, and declared an end to the day’s practice, as he took the boy to the nurse, and every day they would work together and work on the moves needed to be a Keeper.[/reducio][reducio]BROKEN BROOMSHAFT
Again with the boy from last year, they went out to the practice area for Quidditch, and Edward talked to him to see if he could get more people to join. There was only one boy, and two girls, and Edward. All of them agreed to help Edward learn how to do a super amazing move named the Broken Broomshaft. Edward wanted to do this for one main reason. Be a super player in Quidditch and win Koldovstoretz the honor of being the best school in the Wizarding World.

That was his dream, and it was probably the best future he would ever have. He got onto his Nimbus 1500. Hovered off the ground, and retrieved an iron ball, more known as a Bludger, and considered thwacking the bludger towards the only other boy on the field. He made sure to try to aim for the chest, since Edward really didn’t care all too much what happened to the others.

Of course, he would hit the chest, but supposedly, according to the boy he struck the bludger in the chest with, if he hit hard enough, the broom could break. But that was a complete possibility. Didn’t mean it was going to happen, and especially not the first time. The boy didn’t fall off his broom, but he threw the bludger towards Edward, and with the beater’s bat, Edward struck it towards the first girl he saw in his field of vision, whilst she was moving, and hit her close to her hips.

She flipped upside on her broom, and fell off, but once again, no broken broom. Edward groaned with anger in his chest. “WHAT THE-” The second girl, the untouched one, was now zooming around Edward in a circle. The boy threw the bludger again, and Edward wasn’t paying attention to his timing, but to the force of how hard he hit the Bludger towards the flying girl.

He heard a rough and awful sound of a broom being snapped and heard a wail of a scream as the girl fell down to the ground, but not before Edward cast Arresto Momentum, the slowing charm on her, to keep her from being severely hurt, should she hit the ground.

The boy smiled at him, as a sign of successfully doing the superb movement fantastically.

Edward smiled back, but since Edward was still on the broom, and the boy was as well, he struck the Bludger and purposely tried to hit the Bludger as hard as he could to the boy. It struck him and the Cowboy watched him fall off his broom, and another snapping sound occurred. It was the second broken broom he came across. And both times, he was responsible for it.

His parents made quite a bit of money from working out on the family farm and selling it to a local business and decided that some of the money would be spent any way that their kids want to. Well... Edward wasn't too delighted to hear that his siblings would also get a choice in what they get. Meaning more of the money had to be budgeted and squared off.

He looked around, in the room where he was informed of this new "awakening" that was apparently so stunning to Edward. It somewhat blew his mind. It blew his mind when he finally realized that his parents were referring to only Edward, and no one else. His brain, though already exploded with shock, also seemed to piece itself back together just to be fully submerged in excitement.

"I WANT A NEW WAND!" Edward cried out, every letter jumbled in his mouth, but still understandable, as his parents nodded, looked at each other and smiled.

Together they spoke to the youthful cowboy like kid standing in front of them. "Yes honey. Anything you want. If a wand is indeed what you want, then we shall get exactly that!"

And as they said. They went to the local wand store.

He was deeply considering exactly if he made a good choice.

A wand was given to him for him to try. Made of Hawthorn wood, as far as he knew, and he had to think a hot minute about why he actually would've suited the part. If he took a future into wandmaking, which was a possiblity since making brooms was the family's side job, it required wood and wandmakers believed that wood had a personality. Well, wands did. Hawthornes are incredibly supple to healing magic and are skilled with curses. If there was one thing Edward was good at, it was curses, but personally, he perferred the healing magic, and he felt he belonged when the wand molded itself to his hand. Hawthorn wands also seem to prefer wizardkind that are in a conflicted state. Well, Edward couldn't speak for himself, but he felt that wanting to use his fists more than cursing someone was a safer bet and was afraid Hogwarts would turn their backs on him.

But if he had to prove his talent, and he felt he did... maybe the wand should look inside and see that Edward had been in a duel before, and won. Maybe that was enough?

He asked the wandmaker what kind of core the wand was, and his response was "Hungarian Horntail. Watch your back. The wand seems to be fitting with you well already. I can tell you're a born fighter. Just please remember that people have feeling." And that left Edward to think. Did he really distaste people? No, not all of them. He specifically hated Durmstrang and this specific Ari Gwild that his girlfriend (Clair Fernandez) keeps mentioning. He mentioned repeatedly, or rather, thought it, from time to time, every minute he was near the blasted school of evil history... Durmstrang... and Ari. He couldn't see what Clair saw in Ari, and he was feeling immense hate towards them. Hated that they were somewhat of a bigger shot. And how he was considered an outcast of the Koldovstorez students... with his cowboyian ways... he was called an American from time to time again. So of course, distaste and hate is on the list. Let's not forget his repeat fights.

Edward held his wand from pointer finger to pointer finger, wondering how long it was, and the wandmaker pointed out that it was just over a foot (1 foot is 12 inches). Edward's brow burrowed in confusion. They didn't do feet as measurements here, did they? Then the wandmaker seemed to have the brains now to clarify. It was fourteen (14) inches long, which was thirty five point fifty six (35.56) centimetres. But, that was so long. Why? Maybe it was because of all the drama he brought with him. And the fact that he now has a girlfriend and will now die for her. And not for himself like he originally planned. He would still murder any Durmstrang students that came near him or Clair, or would go bizarre and go absolutely banana on them, and he still had the occassional thoughts of murdering Ari, but never told Clair the translation from the Russian word for murder because he didn't want Clair to leave him, even though he did stupider things daily.

And the wand was suprisingly whippy. Why was that? Maybe it was because he came back at people like a whip, leaving a lash or a scar. He liked being the cause of bad impressions. He loved it. But at the same time, he also ruins his future. Maybe this wand flexibility is a symbol of that. A peek into the future, so to speak. He thought about each person he beat up in muggle school, then the people he had hexed and jinxed, and cursed... and then realized that while he was good at healing, he didn't do it as much.

His parents paid for the wand, and now Edward began to smile as if his parents finally focused on him. And they did. That smile was for a good purpose, and not for a method of manipulation. He had a new wand, and it was all thanks to his parents and his family farm.
First Year: Cat's Grace
[reducio]Rosella learned early on when attending Koldovstoretz, that if she wanted to paint in peace she had to get creative. Slipping through the shadows became second nature to the girl, moving in and out of rooms quickly and quietly. Rosella's art work had caught the interest of many of the younger students at Koldovstoretz, many of them wanting to touch the art work and add something to it. If she wanted to keep her art work intact, she had to be able to move quickly and quietly while carrying her supplies.

In the beginning, the girl had been seen by other students multiple times, something that annoyed her greatly as she thought she was doing a good job at sneaking around. Over time though, she was able to move in and out of the rooms without being noticed, moving on to working her way around the grounds without notice. This was a harder task for the girl, as the grounds were more open with only to occasional trees, building, and tall grass. It only took her a few months, but Rosella was finally able to move around the grounds to paint without being noticed.

Rosella's ability to move quickly and quietly, in and out of rooms became extremely useful when she looses track of time while painting or drawing. Many times the girl would forget what she was supposed to be doing, ending up late for classes and meals. This occurred more often then the girl's parents would have hoped for, but it did anyway. Being able to slip in and out of the rooms quickly allowed the girl to enter classes and meals without getting in trouble for being late. If she had been caught for all of the times she had ended up late, her parents would have taken all of the art supplies away for the rest of the year. She had been caught once or twice since she started at Koldovstoretz, but it was always deemed as a simple mistake that wouldn't happen that often.

Rosella has used the ability outside of school multiple times as well, mostly to get into other rooms quickly after having talked back to her parents, something she did more often than she should. Staying hidden gave her the ability to push her punishments back a bit until her parents found her, although it never got her completely out of trouble.
WC: 400[/reducio]
Second Year: Fearless
[reducio]Rosella from a young age had been scared of almost everything, especially after she showed her first signs of magic. The girl didn't want to leave the house, afraid she would do something to get them in trouble. Her parents knew they were going to have to teach her that there was nothing to fear but fear itself. They slowly started to have her participate in different activities that scared her originally. She had to go with her mother to go grocery shopping, she wasn't allowed to sleep with a night-light anymore, and she wasn't allowed to check under the bed for monsters anymore. They did everything they could to prove to the young Rosella that there was nothing to fear.

By the time Rosella was starting school, nothing scared the little girl. Even the thought of getting in trouble with her parents didn't scare her as much anymore, so she thought talking back was a good idea sometimes. She would walk around the house without the lights on. If she heard strange noises coming from around the house, she would walk towards them or completely ignore them instead of freezing up in panic or fear.

The only time Rosella felt fear after her parents taught her there was nothing to fear, was when she left for Koldovstoretz. The girl would be leaving her parents for a months at a time without seeing them at all except holidays. The girl was afraid that no one was going to like her and she would want to leave. Everything was changing at once, but she in the back of her mind that there was nothing for her to fear in the slightest.

By the time Rosella arrived at Koldovstoretz, she had discovered that there really was nothing to fear. If you feared something, you were giving it control. She took control and knew that she could make this a great experience and she would only be miserable if she was afraid the whole time. The girl continued to do activities outside of her comfort zone, sneaking out to paint in the fields at night, sneaking into class late, or sometimes talking back to teachers knowing she would get in trouble for it. Rosella was truly fearless, she told herself that as long as she did not let it control her, she would be able to do almost anything in her life without any issues.

The girl was truly fearless.
WC: 407[/reducio]
Third Year: Perfectionist
[reducio]Rosella had began wanting everything to be from an early age. She has to have everything perfect is due to her mother. Her mother loves to have everything perfect throughout the family home to make it seem as clean as possible. Her mother had learned that from her grandparents, people who thought that everything had to be perfect if you wanted to seem like the perfect family. It is not uncommon for Rosella to assist her mother in cleaning everything a few times a day, even if it does not seem dirty, to make it look like the perfect clean little home.

While away at school, Rosella continues to want perfection with the littlest of things. Even while she is consistently late for her classes, she loves having her supplies and room organized. She has a specific spot for all of her art supplies, giving her the ability to grab what she needs with little thought at all. This need for perfection did not only stay with how organized the things around her were, but also to how her drawings and paintings looked. The littlest of mistakes in a painting, causes her to start over because the painting would not be perfect to her, even if it was perfect for someone else. A misplaced line in a drawing makes Rosella redo that portion of the drawing to allow her to make it seem as if there was not a mistake in the first place. Rosella knows that she does not have to make everything perfect, but she believes she will not be able to get anywhere if she does not make her work as perfect as she can get it.

The need for perfection did not stay with just how organized she was either, it went into how well she performed spells in classes as well. Rosella finds herself having to have her spells perfect when being performed. Whether it is just practicing during class or participating in a mock duel, she makes sure she says the incantations correctly and the wand movement is on point. She feels that is she does not do these things perfectly the first time, she will not be able to succeed in learning these things in the future. She keeps a small notebook with her, specifically for writing down incantations and wand movements, giving her the chance to go over the spells again at a later date to make sure she is doing everything to perfection.

Word Count: 412[/reducio]
Fourth Year: Interception
[reducio]Rosella had been working hard to show she was good enough to represent her Quidditch team. To be honest she had never seen herself playing a sport, she had always been more interested in art, but ever since her fellow classmates had been killed she had been trying her hardest to prove her worth. Whenever Ro was not painting something or doing art of any kind, she had begun practicing Quidditch. She had become one of the chasers of the team and was spending as much time as she could practicing the techniques she needed.

Multiple hours a week, the Russian girl could be found somewhere around the school grounds practicing. She was not the best Catcher in the world, probably not even the best in the school, but she was getting better with every practice. Sometimes Ro would just have her friends fly around with her and toss a Quaffle and attempt to allow her to grab the ball from them. She never knew when she would actually have another Quidditch game to participate in, so she made sure she focused during team practice as well. Rosella did not want to be the reason that her team lost, because she was not even able to be a catcher correctly.

Rosella did not just work on her reflexes while flying either. She would spend time stretching and working on her reflexes because there was no point in working on only her reflexes on the broom if she was not able to have quick reflexes on the ground either.

She regretted not attempting Quidditch in the first place to be honest, and was surprised that she had even attempted it in the first place after her classmates deaths. She kind of had a knack for it and enjoyed playing the sport as much as she enjoyed painting, something that would be a surprise to many of her friends.

The Russian girl thought she was ready for an actual Quidditch game, she continued to practice for multiple hours a week and stretching when she could. She wanted to prove that all of the practice had payed off and that they would be able to win a game and represent their fallen classmates. The girl's reflexes were at their best and she really believed that her improved skills could help them win. All she needed was for their to be an actual Quidditch match for her to be able to show off her new skills.

WC: 513
Irina was a very curious girl and happened to notice many things outside the ordinary, including her rising magic. Ever since she was a baby she seemed to notice all of the little things out of place that others never saw. From the movement of leaves on trees to what paint is wet or dry. Things that people tried to hide, Irina would find it out by some way. This was also more tied into her gut feeling. Everyone had one but more often than not it seemed as though her’s proved right.

An instance of this was when she was 7 and played a game called hide and seek with a few of her magly friends. Since no one else who volunteer she was nominated to be the seeker. They were outside on a playground with plenty on places to hide and after counting for a minute Irina was off. Thinking for a moment she followed her gut feeling to look behind some of the trees. Surprisingly enough, all but one of her friends were hiding behind the trees. They all groaned and thought that she cheated due to the fact that she found them so fast. There was still one person to be found and Irina noticed out of the slightest corner of her eye, movement towards her left. Heading that direction, she ran without even thinking and just like that she found the last person.

It wasn’t that impressive to win hide and go seek but it kept happening time and time again that she would win within a minute. Due to this all of her friends made her hide instead of being the seeker and the result turned out somewhat the same. Irina would not be found for so long that her friends would give up. They all called her out for cheating wouldn’t play it again because they wanted a chance to win. The thing was, Irina wasn’t cheating at all, she was just trusting her gut feelings hiding in spots she believed they would overlook.

One time when it was just Zola and Irina, they were walking to magly school. It was typical for them to do this because they didn’t live to far away and it was nice to spend time together. There was no sidewalk but it was a mainly unused road. The two of them were holding hands walking in the street when Irina had a bad feeling come across her. She pulled her mom and herself out of the road and into the grass. Zola was unsure what was going on but decided to trust her daughter. It was a good thing she did because out of nowhere a car came speeding down the road with 3 police officers trailing it. If Irina hadn’t acted on her gut in this moment they would both have serious injuries.

Irina always trusted her gut and recently thought of it more like a warning. When she noticed the things out of the ordinary she would always take note because you never know what could be lurking.[/reducio] Fearless [reducio]Fearless
WC: 421
Fears. What really determined a fear, was it a part of your brain or natural instinct to be afraid. Irina Afanasyeva was a just a fourteen year old girl yet she felt like she had already conquered all of her fears. She had been abandoned by her father, brother, and her best friend just due to the stigma that being a magical person held. She had already been through so much and was not going to let anything or anyone stop her again. Of course she had some normal fears like dying or losing her mom but she had rarely ever been scared or frightened by her friends at Koldovstoretz. It used to be a game they played, everyone would try and find a way to scare Irina, they wanted to make her flinch or scream, anything to get a reaction.

Time after time, Irina wouldn’t budge and even found herself in the position where she would wind up scaring them instead. It was all quite a fun game and almost everyone in the school knew that if they wanted to have a challenge scaring someone it would be Irina. They also knew that the best person to call when going on a scary trip was Irina because she wouldn’t be shaken up a bit.

There was one time where Irina had decided that she wanted to travel into the depths of one of the old run down cottages that used to be used for classrooms in the middle of the night. She had gathered a few friends and planned to have a great time exploring. It was almost pitch black when they snuck out of their rooms and took the hike to the cottages. There were 5 of them to start and one chickened out on just the walk. Another one wanted to leave once they reached the room but was too terrified to go anywhere alone so they stayed with the group. They reached the room and walked inside, flashlights on they explored the whole run down cottage. Everyone except for Irina was screaming at the smallest spider or tiniest noise. Irina was just thinking that the place looked quite cool inside.

They got back to the main school building and you could tell that everyone but Irina were very, very scared. Irina was totally fine with the experience and even thought that she had a good time. It was evident that she really wasn’t afraid of much and her friends even gave her the nickname of “Fearless”.[/reducio]

Calming Presence[reducio] Calming Presence
WC: 405
Irina was a very kind person and many who come across her find that she has a sense of calm. This makes them trust her and want to share information with her. This wasn’t always the case though, Irina used to be feared but when she came to Koldovstoretz it started to change.

She had a lot of issues arise in her childhood due to the fact that she had magic that caused her friend and family to be scared of her. Due to her past she rarely opens up to people and trusts them. Irina winds up being a very good listener and loves to let others talk about themselves. As an avid, kind, listener, others feel much more comfortable to talk to her. So much so that people have talked to her just so that they could have someone to comfort them and talk it out with them.

One time, an acquaintance of hers came up to Irina in class. They were struggling with learning a spell and turned to Irina for help. Irina had yet to figure it out herself but talked her friend through the different steps of the spell. Just by Irina’s encouragement, her friend succeeded in the spell the next time around.

When coming home from Koldovstoretz to see her mom when she was 12, Irina found herself next to an older woman. She had never met this women before but had started to strike up a conversation with her. This women must have felt at ease with Irina because soon enough she was sharing her opinions on her job. The job she held must have not been for her because she unloaded all of her feelings onto Irina. Irina wasn’t that shocked that this had happened because it had happened before at Koldovstoretz and many told her they just felt like they could trust her. Irina listened and gave some advice to the women about her job situation.

She never met the women again but the women winded up going home wondering why she had just told a young girl all of that. Irina started to find herself in positions like this more often where she listened to others and tried to ease their worries away. It came naturally to Irina now, she would be one of the kindest people someone met and would try to make them feel more comfortable about the situation that they were in. WC: 528
Irina Afanasyeva was a loyal friend. She was the one who would always be there in times of need and would make sure that everyone was alright. She thought of it like a job of sorts, she had to make sure that her friends were in check and didn’t get hurt. Some might have called her the ‘mother’ of the friend group but, in her opinion she just looked out for those that mattered to her. When this combined with her already calming presence, she could make her allies happier and healthier.

She has always looked out for people in her life and has done it much more at Koldovstoretz. There was more of a need at her magical school than there ever was at her magly school. She would still try and help people as a young girl but, her magic had made her afraid to grow close with people and help them. Koldovstoretz allowed to her to not hide her abilities anymore and there were many more opportunities to get hurt.

Irina would always try and keep an eye on her allies, to make sure that they were doing alright. At the Hogwarts Blossom Ball that she was invited to, she had to look after her friend Nate who accidentally drank a potion. She had tried to warn him before the fact but was too late. This potion winded up making him afraid and panicked. Irina attempted to comfort him through the effects and kept him from doing anything dangerous. She made sure that he was completely alright before leaving him and would check in on him more throughout the night to make sure he was still doing okay.

After that disaster of a ball Hogwarts hosted, Irina made it her goal to always be prepared to help aid her friends. When she got home for summer vacation, she told her mom about what had happened and the two of them came to the conclusion that Irina needed to have supplies at the ready. Not anything big though, just minor things like bandaids and gauze. She wasn’t any sort of healer but, had to have supplies on hand just in case her friends got into bad situations. Irina briefed herself on normal magly first aid in case the time ever came where magic wasn’t available to use.

When worrying about her friends, she tried to keep to her personality and stay upbeat. If her friend did get injured, she would stay upbeat when trying to help them. She had been told before that her presence made a big difference when someone was injured, they were glad she was still her happy self and many who she had helped before had told her that it made them feel better. Attitude and personality can make all the difference when helping people. Irina would try to be happy in hopes that her friend or patient would be happy too.

She worries about her friends and after what happened at the ball, she wants to be prepared for everything. Irina keeps her friends well being in mind and hopes that if a problem arises she can be there to help.
[/reducio]

Spell Flinger [reducio] Spell Flinger
WC: 411
Irina hates Hogwarts, she hates the people, the school, and the lack of security. She can, and has ranted for hours about every little that school has done to tick her off. Overtime she has finally realized that ranting won’t get her anywhere, it won’t stop the Hogwarts students from being arrogant, and saying they are the best. The only thing that Irina can do to prevent that, is to beat them in broom racing.

She competed in their summer duelling match last year and lost to an overconfident individual. It was her final duel before she switched to broom racing, and the loss compelled her to train her hardest to beat Hogwarts in broom racing. Everyday, she’d be out there on the Koldovstoretz grounds, training her heart out. At this point, the training wasn’t even for her anymore. It was for her lost teammates that perished in the bomb. They were supposed to compete in the inter-school race last summer, but died just days before. Irina wanted to win for them, to preserve their memory.

Now the team had grown, and Nate had even joined to race. The addition of more people to the team provided yet another incentive for Irina to spend every extra second she had training. She wanted to be a good role model and felt as though it was her responsibility to help them win a race.

Day by day, Irina would practice her skills, she would speed around on her Silver Arrow and shoot spells at either thin air or a friend. Her end goal was to be able to hit almost all her spells accurately while riding at top speed. Also, she wanted to be able to dodge the quickest that she could when flying at the fastest speed. The hope was to make herself a force to be reckoned with on the track.

Soon enough, she started seeing the results of her endless training. Casting spells became a much quicker process, and luckily for her she knew a lot of good ones from her time as a dueler. The constant dodging and weaving on the broom significantly quickened her already fast reaction time. Broom racing was becoming a walk in the park for Irina, and she could only hope that the trend would continue to go up. The hours that she devoted to her broom had made a difference and she was more than ready to attempt and enact her revenge on Hogwarts.

Fedya had always been spacey, to put it simply. Maybe it was the fact that he really didn't seem all that interested in the aesthetic value of the things his family members and fellow classmates might care for. He was simply much too focused on his studies, nose in a book, or otherwise didn't care. Honestly, he would tell anyone who asked that he really didn't care much for aesthetic beauty at all, as it has little value. Looks are trumped by smarts, personality, morals.

One prime example would be that of what might become known as the 'Sasha Incident'. Back at muggle school. There had been a girl, Sasha, who was completely enamored with Fedya. Entirely head-over-heels, assured that they would become married one day. In fact, she told Fedya that they were going to have twelve kids and live in a big brick mansion. To any other boy at the school, it would have been a dream come true. Reason to run home, boasting about their pretty new girlfriend. See, Sasha had been a pretty girl. Popular, funny, the kind of girl that all the boys were so in love with (or as close to love as one could get as a child under ten).

Fedya never folded. He didn't fall for the promises of ice cream after school if he just would become her boyfriend, didn't bend over backwards to carry her books through the hallways.

Jokingly, he might credit it to his poor eyesight--rendering most things blurry, but he knows the truth. That he truly just values who a person is over their external features, and has never known 'attraction' like his peers. Not romantic, not platonic. He's never looked at a person and thought to himself they're cool looking, I like them. In fact, most impressions are based chiefly upon 'vibes' and the initial energy a person gives off, rather than their physical appearance.

Now, in his school life, Fedya still doesn't have many friends. Yes, some mere acquaintances will do, but no true friends. Maybe it is because of his reluctance to judge based on looks (or a complete lack of awareness of what people do look like), but either way, this 'meh' sort of reaction to the looks of others does impact the boy in his everyday school life. Maybe it's facial blindness (as Fedya can often be observed saying 'they all look the same to me'), maybe it's ignorance, maybe it's an unfortunate ability. Who knows?

He is proud of himself and believes that he is good at anything that he tries. In his mind, he will always be the best. He is the definition of a narcissist and doesn't care about if he hurts other in his words or actions.
History: Maksim lived a fairly normal life, his parents didn't hide from him their magic abilities and were very encouraging to him. When he was 5 he had his first accidental magic moment. At this. time, he was extremely hungry and it was past the normal time that he ate dinner and he very angrily screamed and caused a plate to fly from the table and slam onto the ground. His parents were beyond shocked at this but they were proud that he showed his first signs of magic. From then on, he worked on his magic and learned a bit more on how to control it. He did so by focusing on sports in school, and had developed a dream to one day be on the Quidditch Team in his school. His love of sports and being active, is what helped him to control his magic. He was never one to focus on school work as much as sports due to it never being as much of a priority. Both of his parents were also magic users, so that made it a lot easier for him to learn how to control his magic and such. His parents always supported him so he gained an uncanny amount of pride, thinking that no matter what he will always make people proud. This carried on even after he left home and went to school, even today, he is beyond prideful in himself.

Broken Broomshaft

Maksim is the type of boy to play dirty and he does so all the time, he is the type to want to win at all costs, and sometimes he doesn't care about how it affects others. (Probably more like most of the time if we are being 100% honest here). He will hit people to get the advantage, this ability would be perfect for him because it would allow him to more easily get that feeling of excitement and feeling like he is cheating the system and boost his already inflated ego. Maksim is the type of boy that will do anything he can to get ahead on things (this most has to do with sports and extracurriculars because he doesn't care this much about school.) And because of this he would quite enjoy this ability. He would love to give his team the advantage, the other team the disadvantage. Even though the broom breaks, and the teammate can be rescued, but the main reason this ability would suit him is because he knows that the opposing team would be at a complete disadvantage due to them having a teammate without a broom. Although having the ability doesn't entirely guarantee that he will cause the opponents broom to break, he still would enjoy it nonetheless. It fits pretty much perfectly with Maksim's personality. Although, an ego boost isn't what he needs, he still thrives to get one any time that he possibly can. (Perhaps too much but what can you do?)

Immediately afterwards, he will likely be seen looking to his closest teammate with a look of: 'Did you just see that?' or 'Wasn't that epic?'. Of course, that it was the coolest thing to happen to him. He of course, would hope his teammate would share his enthusiasm and excitement about the whole ordeal but if not then he would just gloat himself. Most likely, too much and get distracted himself (but hopefully not for too long as that would create an opening for the other team.

After the entirety of the race, he will then turn to bragging to his friends, his family, and anyone else he happens to meet with. He will talk about this for what seems like ages after it has already happened. He doesn't care what others think of him and this will likely produce some ill thoughts and he is okay with that.

Koldovstoretz NPC  iNPC Registry
Name: Yasha Olexeievich Volkov (Яша Oлексеевич Волков)
School: Koldovstoretz
Year: First (Group 4)
Status: Pureblood
Image

Appearance:
Yasha is very, VERY tall for his age, 5'4 (and he will grow a couple inches every year until he is 6'7 at 20), very thin, and pale. He has black hair that is cut short and neatly kept with a lock of his hair constantly covering his right eye. This eye has congenital cataracts and he is blind in this eye. It is an all over pale blue color. People find it unnerving, so he hides it. His left eye is a brilliant green. He is the very picture of a pureblood heir with neat clothes and appearance at all times.

Personality:
Yasha is quiet and reserved to everyone on the outside who hasn't actually interacted with him. He is the kind of quite where sometimes he sneaks up on people without meaning to, almost invisible despite his height. He knows a lot of other people's secrets because of this tendency to accidentally overhear people before they notice him coming. Mostly he keeps these quite, but leverage is always useful in his family's world.

He is polite and well-spoken with adults and people whom he thinks he ought to befriend for political purposes. He is very surface level with most people and downright antagonistic towards his peers. Preferring to cut to the chase and move on with what he actually wants to do, as he feels like people only talk to him when they want something from him. He doesn't really think he is better than anyone, he just thinks most people aren't worth his time and isn't afraid to let them know that. He is definitely the kind of person to talk in riddles in order to not have a real or deep conversation with anyone and does enjoy getting a rise out of someone who is annoying him. The louder people stomp when they walk away, the better.

If you can get past the biting comments and the perfect son façade, Yasha is quite soft and can be gentle and romantic. If he considers you family or a close friend, he would burn cities for you to be happy and healthy, or, y'know, wear a tiara to your fake tea party because his cousin asked him to.

History:
Yasha was born on October 31, 2010 near St. Petersburg to Olexei and Alyona Volkov. His parents have a happy marriage, but due to his father's job and his mother's health, Yasha and Alyona live in their country home. This country home, the Volkov Dacha, is very secluded out in the middle of nowhere and three generations of Volkovs live there currently.

His first instance of magic was after his one year birthday party at their country home. He was so tired from the festivities that he ended up throwing an exhaustive temper tantrum in the middle of serving cake. He hit his fist on the table of his highchair, the ground shook, and a hole opened up under the cake table. The table and half of the cake fell into the hole.

When Stalin rose to power and abolished magic in 1928, the Volkovs decided to live double lives. They had been well off members of high society during the time before Stalin and they were able to more or less keep their position in high society by swearing allegiance to Stalin. In their "official" homes and lives, they striped themselves of magic and lived like маглы. Generally, the adults who could control their magic and participate in politics lived within the city.

They sent their children, their widows, and the older women to the Volkov Dacha near Murmansk. It was a vast compound far outside of the city, so the children could learn magic and, more importantly, how to control it. In this way, Yasha and his cousins grew up all together in a more or less group house. Their grandmother and some of the older women of the family who's husband's had either retired, passed on, or they had not found a husband were in charge of raising and teaching the children the ways of magic, Russian politics, and the Volkov family values. Most of the children were sent to Koldovstoretz once they had learned to control their magic and once they had been taught who a Volkov was and what a Volkov believes.

After the Soviet Union fell, the Volkovs turned again and claimed to have only agreed with Stalin in order to protect themselves. Even though practicing magic was safe once again, the Volkovs continued to send their children to the Dacha because it had become a sort of family compound. Everyone in the family who didn't have a job in the city lived in the Dacha or in smaller houses around the property. This kind of family situation also meant that the Volkovs had more control over how their children behaved, what they believed, and what outside influences they had.

Yasha, however, is the oldest son of the oldest son and will therefore become the patriarch of the family. He has had a special education and quite a bit more protection. He has been disciplined and schooled as such to lead the family one day with a lot more lessons on how to control his magic, how to wield it, and the various affairs of the family. This will be his first year at Koldovstorez.

One of the good things about having a lot of cousins all living in the same place was that all of the Volkov children got to play together and playing together meant Quidditch. Whenever there was a good day and nothing to do, the Volkov children would run outside to play Quidditch together. The Volkov children were the best team in the world, well, according to them. That is, unless you were talking about the other Volkov children, because they were the best by far. It was a cousin rivalry to last the ages. Every single cousin was in on it, even if it was just to bring water and tell the parents that the official game had started.
At the general insistence of the children, the Volkov’s had built a downsized version of a quidditch practice grounds near the back of the Dacha for them to play on. Olexei, Yasha’s father, and his siblings had convinced their father that they weren’t using the back field for anything besides picnics and outside lessons anyway, so why not use it for sports. The family eventually had enough children for them to consistently have two teams to play with and there was many a game between them all, especially during the holidays when everyone was home.
Yasha’s father had been on Koldovstoretz’ team as a beater during his time there and he was highly supportive of the whole family playing quidditch. He had bought practice dummies, actual brooms, and a magical device that would shoot quaffles at Yasha so that he could practice when he was alone. Because of all this, a fair amount of Yasha’s free time was spent on the family pitch. Even when all of the other children were at Koldovstoretz, Yasha would practice his Keeper skills and strategies.
Yasha was always keeper for the red team. Being the tallest, oldest, and fastest of the Volkov children had many advantages on and off the field. One of the best things about being the oldest and the tallest was that he had the longest reach and therefore could intercept the quaffle easier than everyone else. All he had to do most of the time was sit in the middle and reach out a long, slender arm to bat the ball away from the goal posts.
Being the oldest also meant that he was the fastest, had been playing the longest, and had had more time to practice, so he was better at being keeper than everyone else. He could easily snatch the ball out of the air and throw it a significant distance across the pitch to his own chasers. He was also skilled and a little bit ruthless enough to snatch the ball and peg the blue team's chaser with it. He’d practiced it enough times to where the ball would hit them squarely in the chest or the side, dazing them a bit, bounce off their bodies, and go soring through the air to be caught by his own chaser.

There are a couple of things that require clarification with your application:
1. With the Leninist and then Stalinist purges following the Revolution, most Russian nobility were either killed or forced to flee the country. It is unlikely that they would be able to peacefully renounce their titles and then transition into positions of relative power in the new regime. Perhaps the family did not have noble titles but held ancillary positions within the Communist Party once they renounced magic to live in secret as маглы, they would not be able to hold any real power within the party nor government.
2. As is, your backstory references a group home environment where the children are raised up and until the modern day. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, there are no longer 'witch hunts' for magic users. Why are they still sending their children to the compound?
