2021, Stage 3 Group E: Ravenclaw vs Slytherin Finished

Unfortunately for Opeila, Callie didn’t seem to have even considered the idea of giving up. Her own stubbornness mixed with the knowledge that Thomas would make fun of her for giving in pushed her onward despite the circumstance. It was warm, too warm...and being on fire wasn’t at all a pleasant experience. So unpleasant in fact that Callie barely spoke a word to her opponent despite her impending doom.

At least this was a much preferable alternative to cursed shadow spiders.

SLYTHERIN VICTORY

It was the final countdown: both opponents would cast the tried and true Knockback Jinx, but only one would hit. In fact, Opeila's grace in those final moments was almost uncanny to the discerning eye. She would feel a prickle of danger raise the hairs on the back of her neck, a sense of certainty that a blow would land if she did not dodge just so, alongside the vague understanding of where her opponent was about to be. She spun out of the way from the Flipendo long before it reached her, and cast preemptively in the direction which Callie moved. The bolt of blue hit home, and the Ravenclaw witch was down. Duel aids would rush to the stage, quickly carting her off for medical attention as Slytherin's victory was proclaimed to the crowd.

While Opeila was still silently pleading that her opponent would give up, accept the loss that seemed inevitable at this point, everything was suddenly getting very clear. The background noise, the cheering from the audience as well as the combat sounds from the other duels that were happening seemed to move into faint distance.

When Opeila looked at Callie raising her wand one more time, she knew exactly what to do. Where the spell would go, where Callie would go and suddenly it was all easy. The Slytherin had no problem moving out of the spell's way and at the same time aim at Callie.
With the spell hitting the Ravenclaw, the world seemed to go back to normal.

Opeila blinked and watched as Callie fell to the ground, the same ground that Thomas and Adonis had fallen onto. Soon she was taken away by duel aids and her and Adonis' victory was announced.

It took the Slytherin a few moments to realize what just happened. They won. They had actually won the last of their duels for this year. Opeila stood on her spot still, the wand in her right hand pointing to the ground, catching her breath.
Who would have thought that she would find herself here today?
