Quidditch Game
Blurs of yellow and green raced around the pitch at the start of game. Knowing her goal, she flew towards where the quaffles had been released hoping to get there before any Badger. She could do this. She was going to do this. Suddenly something came over her. Could it be nerves? While this wasn't her first game with the team, it was her first game on the pitch. Whatever came over her, she quickly shook it off as she say Nico closing into the quaffles against Aaron. Taking a chance, she raced forward towards the goals indicating she was open for a pass. Nico having realized her intent, threw the ball to her. Much to her surprise, the ball went in! Not that she doubted herself, but she knew getting it past the Badger keeper would be hard. With one set finished, she reset herself for the second potential grab, this time pushing any nerves or whatever had affected her before deep inside her, trapping it. Luck or favor of the gods, she got the quaffle again and raced for the posts. Possibly overconfident after her last score, she hurled the ball only to see the keeper block.
Upset, she glanced around to see what was going on in the rest of the game. A glimpse of green falling towards the ground caught her attention. "ERIN!" She screamed out the girls name, as if it mattered. The girl would not hear her. But right before the girl would have met her fate, someone swooped in to catch her. A sigh of relief could be heard from the young captain when she saw Koko pull up, Erin sitting behind her, followed by a realization that there was still a quaffle to go for. Taking off towards the ball she closed in to where the Aaron was. Reaching out her arm, she could almost feel the quaffle in her hands, and then it was gone. The Badger had done it. The posts unguarded after Koko went to save Erin, it would be an easy 10 points for Hufflepuff. But instead of attempting to score himself on unguarded posts, the boy threw the ball to another. Odd play to be sure, but what did it matter. She was about to turn away assuming the game would be tied only to see the other boy miss. The gods have smiled upon us.
Regrouping, she looked over at @Nico Shymane. "Great pass! I'm glad you saw me waiting by the posts!" A quick damage report told her that aside from Erin and Koko sharing a broom, Ethen was still on a broom which means Thoras blatch failed. Out one player on a penalty lap, she thought. That's when she saw Quinn still on his broom. "Shit. He managed to evade Erin?" Continue to mutter quietly, "Oh! Heinrich is with Serena." Unsure they would hear her, she shouted "Good hit Cash!" The game must go on.

Percival's gaze was firmly set on the players flying overhead. Zooming overhead at high speeds. Both teams fighting to take home a victory. Though, while his eyes were on the game his mind was solely focused on the brown-haired boy next to him. From the corner of his eye, he thought he had seen the other glance towards him. Though, it was hard to tell in the fuzzy peripheral vision. His back stiffened and he gripped his broom harder as he debated on what to do. Percival could easily ignore the brown-haired boy next to him or he could not. The boy turned his gaze away from the game and back towards Flash.
"Holmwood." he greeted in a tight-lipped manner. With his gaze more focused on the other, he studied him briefly. Percival didn't often talk to his dormmate. In truth, he hardly saw his dormmate that often. Sure he saw him here and there during class or in passing, but the number of times he saw his dormmate in their dorm was far too low to be considered normal. Though the boy had little care for that curiosity. Instead, he was more interested in how long he and Winters have been dating. A part of him could not shake the inkling that the two got together a little too quickly after he and Winters broke up. That same part screamed that the two must have been lovey-dovey to one another while he and Winters were still together. "So how long have you and Winters been together?" he asked in an attempt to evoke something from the other. Percival wasn't too sure what he wanted to draw out of the boy, but it felt right in a way. He wasn't one to think his actions through. Or his words for that matter. Percival glanced back towards the game watching as a blatch barely passed Erin.

Aaron only had eyes for the quaffle when he heard the referee's whistle. He knew Heinrich would set himself up by the goalposts, ready to perform a Finborough Flick that they had been practicing together. It was Aaron's job to get the quaffle to his fellow chaser, and he wouldn't let his team down!@Nico Shymane, @Tyranni Whitethorn
@Heinrich Bezuidenhout, @Atlas Reid, @Serena Bowen
His first attempt at the quaffle proved to him that the Slytherin prefect on the other team, Nico, was a formidable opponent. This being his first game against the Slytherin team, he was perhaps a little too focused on their form and analyzing their strategy, because although his eyes had not left the quaffle, his peripheral vision noticed Tyranni was flying in a different direction. Nico ended up the victor of the quaffle grab. Drat! He could do little more than watch and try to race after her as she made her way to the Hufflepuff goal posts and passed to Tyranni. Ah, so they were playing off teamwork goals as well! And here he thought they might use their chasers to take out opponents on the other team, as he heard that Slytherin was quite formidable in their offense. It was in that moment that the Slytherin team scored that he realized that their third chaser really was absent from the quaffle attempts, but there was no time to figure out where she had disappeared to.
The next release of the quaffle, Tyranni was the successful one. Aaron was frustrated, and gritted his teeth as he flew after her in an attempt to catch up and prevent the score. However, it turned out to be an unnecessary (and futile) action, because Atlas was able to block the goal this time. "Nice one, Atlas!" he called out, pumping his fist in the air and smiling broadly for her to see.
Then back to the next quaffle grab. Having seen the two Slytherins working in tandem led Aaron to buckle down and become more determined than ever. Heinrich was counting on him to get that quaffle and pass it to him! And finally, success! Aaron gripped the red leather ball and zoomed towards the Slytherin goal posts. He saw Heinrich and loosed the ball straight to him, just like they had practiced. He envisioned the quaffle soaring past the Slytherin keeper and-
Heinrich missed.
Aaron's mouth dropped open for a split second, disappointment rippling through him. But the feeling was quickly gone, and his face once more determined. Next time. They would nail it next time. It was Heinrich's first game, no one was perfect in their first game, right?
"Heinrich! It's-" Just as Aaron was about to shout words of encouragement to his fellow chaser, he saw the bludger rocketing towards him. There was no time to shout a warning, and he watched in horror as the iron ball collided with his teammate. Heinrich was sent flying from his broom, and Aaron flashed back to the moment that had happened to him back in October. He was helpless in this moment, too distracted to even attempt a rescue, but then-
Aaron was pulled from his nightmare as he noticed their fellow chaser down below, scooping Heinrich from the air before he could make contact with the ground. Aaron sighed a breath of relief. "Great catch, Serena!" the boy shouted, pumping his fist into the air yet again. He knew his voice may not be heard across a pitch as large as this, so he always attempted to use his hands in some sort of gesture to convey his meaning. With no time to spare, Aaron got back into position and focused on his next task.

Nico took in a deep breath and laid her focus on the leathery ball. The Quaffle was thrown and off they went. Thora laid back as strategised, both Nico and Tyr flew off, greedy for the ball. The dhampir had been feeling rather comfortable in her cold aura of despair that tickled her peers spines. Not necesarrily on purporse. She did hope it would affect the rivaling team more than her fellow teammates. Slytherins were something along the lines of weeds. Hard to get rid of and all around annoying. Not all of them. Although there were definitely a few that fitted that description.
Breathing out deeply, the redhead shot towards the Quaffle, her fingers gently managing to overtake the ball from Aaron. If Nico could recall, this was his first real Quidditch game. She would smile at him, not that he would be able to see it from behind her rather creepy looking mouthmask.
Wooshing over to the Hufflepuff goal posts, Nico would see her fellow Chaser, Tyr, returning to the battlefield. Right out in the open, Nico grunted accordingly, tossing the Quaffle right into the brunettes hands. The cold didn't seem to have gotten to her, as she easily made 10 points for Slytherin. They wouldn't be able to score a second time, as the Hufflepuff Keeper had gotten her head back in the game. 'Tch..' Nico muttered softly before flying back to her former position.
From beside her, she could hear an intense sound of cracking wood. Glancing over, she witnissed once more Quinn's scary yet amazing set of powerful, muscular stength as he batted the metal ball into Erins back. Nico breathed in sharply, watching how the ball collided into the Slytherins spine, sending her flying. Not on her broom though. Quinn was... astonishing. She felt scared seeing how Erin nearly fell to a painful faith, that luckily was evaded by their powerful Keeper Koko. 'Quinn really isn't holding back is he.' She whispered to herself. '...That's... kind of cute.' What a sickening thing to say after watching such horror. Nico reminded herself that even though she hadn't been targetted this time, it didn't guarantee she wouldn't in the near future.
It immediatly made her cheeks return to their deadly paleness. He wouldn't... would he?
The smile Quinn flashed about. Nico couldn't let it distract her. 'What a show off..' She muttered blushing faintly before meeting up with Tyr again. The brunette had thanked her for the quick toss, reading her bodylanguage as she had manoeuvred to the front. Nico nodded at her. 'No need to worry. Let's go.' She flew back up, ready to follow the next strategy.

Effect: You are very distracting to look at. This increases the Control DC of spells in duels and adventures by +2 as well as the DC for finding things in adventures or the DC for finding the snitch in a game of Quidditch. This ability does not stack.
Unsetteling Aura
A Dhampir's Unsettling Aura becomes noticeable. This is created by their presence. It is that uncanny feeling one gets where the small hairs on the back of their neck stand on end and the flesh on their arms turn to gooseflesh. It is as if the room itself was turned down by several degrees and one's heart was filled with a foreboding sense.
Effect: This represented as a 10% auto-fail rate for anyone besides the Dhampir (or other Dhampirs) to perform an action or cast a spell. Unfortunately, this prevents a dhampir from being hidden (entering stealth) when in use. As such any attempts to be hidden in a topic while this is on would automatically fail. However, a dhampir can turn off their aura at the cost of an action (unlike those that have the ability terrible presence) and as an action turn back on their aura. This ability does not stack in intensity when multiple Dhampirs have it activated.
Broom : Tinderblast
In the role of Chaser, as a free action if the user of this broom is successful in the quafflegrab they can as a free action pass the Quaffle to another user in an attempt to score. There is a chance of the quaffle being intercepted, however due to the fact that the user is "so fast" with the quaffle this would be considered "surprising" and the attempt to score would be done at +3 accuracy by the player it was passed to in an attempt to score.
Note: The attempt to score would be an automatic attempt by the user that catches the passed quaffle.

As soon as she saw the bludger heading towards Erin, Koko knew what to do. She dived forward and waited until Erin was right above her - and once she made sure the older Slytherin was on her broom, she began to pour on the speed.
"No problem," Koko responded, listening to Erin's words. Get her back to her broom before they converge on us... The Third-year's eyes widened as she put two and two together. Of course there was a target on her back. "Er - I'm on it!" she promised.
Ignoring the chill of the wind as it rushed past her, Koko steered her broom the best she could, hoping she could get where she needed to go.

Alexx didn't want to come off as rude, or act as though her team was incapable, as Slytherin was by far the superior team to any other house, but she was certainly expecting to be in the game right now. If all she could offer were words of encouragement, then so be it, but she didn't like watching it all from down here. She was a player, not a fan. She was beginning to regret her decision to stay benched for the season, and the longer she spent down here and not up there, the more she resented her teammates.

To be honest, Heinrich did not know what he was doing. Of course, he had attended the training sessions, but the reality that he was now in front of massive amounts of students possibly watching every move of his, was stressing. After a short period of assessing what to do, Heinrich parked himself by the goal. Whatever it was, he hoped he could be of help.
Time seemed to have slowed as the quaffle flew in the direction of the chaser. This was his chance. However, luck was not by his side - was it ever? The leather ball had contacted with the sheath of his broom, but as soon as he did, an odd wave of dread would wash over him. Familiar and terrible at the same time. The moment of distraction would cause his aim to falter, the ball barely arcing near the goalposts.
Turning his head to scan the surroundings, his gaze would find @Howard White, the older year was seated on the stands. The dhampir was too far away, surely not the culprit to have brought upon him such a feeling of dread. Nevertheless, Heinrich would continue, his attention focused back on the game.

Generally speaking, the team that manages to gain the first points earns a significant advantage. Momentum is a concept spoken of in all walks of sports. It sets the pace, places pressure upon the opposing team to perform and catch up, and inspires courage and competency in a team. It could be a difficult thing to build, but even more so to break. The latter was absolutely imperative should the lagging team have any hope to make a recovery, though. In this game, Slytherin had taken the initial momentum. Not by a landslide, by any means; but with a successful score against the Hufflepuff keeper, and a disgraceful fumble against an open net by the Hufflepuff chasers, Slytherin had been unquestionably favoured.
The question would be whether they could maintain it. As the game ramped up and players were lost to coupled brooms and penalty laps, adjustments to tactics were made by both sides. Required to redistribute their players and make up for losses in other areas, Slytherin simply couldn't launch the same level of offense as they had at the beginning with the powerhouse pair of Nico and Tyranni. With Koko racing to return Erin to her broom, Nico having to take over as lifeguard, and Thora hurrying to complete her penalty lap, Tyranni was forced to head the charge to grab the quaffle solo.
Hufflepuff, on the other hand, were free to take advantage of the weakened Slytherin offensive—something they did in full force. Despite Heinrich's tumble, Serena and the boy made a fine pair. Perhaps two heads were better than one. It certainly could be beneficial to keep an eye out for incoming bludgers, and unlike Kokorin, Serenrich elected to remain coupled up, at least for as long as they could press their advantage. Even Atlas chose to fly forward from the hoops, abandoning them for the time being to join Aaron and Serenrich in loose formation to try to monopolize the quaffle and score as many goals as possible while the Slytherin posts remained undefended.
Apparently, Atlas' skill wasn't limited to her tenure as keeper. Her agility and speed on the pitch outpaced even that of Aaron as she easily snagged the quaffle during two of the next three tosses. The Hufflepuff chaser and keeper posse tore down the pitch in impressive form to toss the leather ball easily through the unmanned posts for two easy goals. In fact, Atlas might have managed a tidy little hat trick had it not been for Tyranni. Perhaps the Seer's prayer to her name sake had been heard with divine grace bestowed upon her; or perhaps she'd simply had enough and reached into the pit of her full reserves for every ounce of strength and skill.
No matter the reason, her call had been answered. On the second of the three subsequent tosses, she had managed to outmaneuver all of the Hufflepuff offensive, stealing the quaffle right from under their noses. No amount of pursuit would do the badgers any good, of course, and it seemed as though Tyranni refused to have her resolve shaken by any sense of dread or disquiet on the pitch. Her aim struck true, and she earned Slytherin her second goal of the match. It wouldn't be enough to maintain the lead for long, but it had kept the snakes from losing their momentum entirely. With the scores tied up shortly thereafter, however, it could be anybody's game.

After the initial outburst of aggression from the Slytherin team, a relative calm settled over the pitch. So to speak, anyway. Whether calm could ever be a descriptive term when there was a student the size of a horse and wielding just as much power behind a bat could be debatable. With counter-intuitive ease, Quinn navigated the pitch and scoped out his next target. The obvious choice: Dan. Keep pressure on and strike down the opposing seeker before they were permitted to track down and hone in on the snitch. It was a solid plan. One that so many teams seemed to choose to ignore, instead taking the chance for a clutch counter once a seeker had located the snitch and begun their chase.
There would also be absolutely no doubt that even a glanced blow by the half-giant would absolutely lay the little bare-footed seeker out flat. All he had to do was nail it in the slytherin's direction. Perhaps he'd caught sight of his beau, though. Maybe some part of him had caught on to her silent observations that considered his massive hulking form as cute. Adorable, really. Perhaps he simply had the feeling that he was being watched. Or perhaps nerves had crept up and gotten to him. Whatever the case, dear Quinn absolutely blundered (crit 1 on the UA check) his bludger attempt.
Not that Cassandra, who had attempted to monopolize the remaining bludger, would have much more luck. With a similar strategy, Cash narrowed in on Hufflepuff's seeker, placing the spirited and team-inspiring seeker within their sights. At least on some regard, their strike proved more accurate. A solid CRACK! sent the bludger sailing towards the seeker with every intent to give him a rude interruption to his search. Hufflepuff would be having none of that, however. Right from the start of the initial whistle, Lindsey had stuck close to her charge and she hadn't yet let him get all that far from her influence.
Swooping in, Lindsey interjected herself between Ethen and Cash's bludger, swinging at the projectile with her own might. A second resounding CRACK! echoed through the pitch as her bat connected solidly with the bludger with enough force to knock it, not only off its intended trajectory, but to reverse it entirely towards its sender! Although they might not have been expecting such a maneuver, Cash certainly didn't allow the move to get the best of them. While Lindsey's redirected bludger was well struck, Cash proved the more dextrous, dodging deftly out of the way to avoid the vengeful little canon.
Elsewhere, Erin, having been knocked from her broom and narrowly saved only moments before, strode alongside Koko. The two shared a broom, racing to return Erin to her own mount and get her back into the game as soon as possible. Avoid badger ire, they were spared to do exactly that and the two alluring women would soon find themselves separated, refreshed in their ability to cause a fresh new wave of chaos soon enough. Of course, a penalty lap was still due and Erin would have to race hastily around the pitch before she could join properly back into the fray.

True to its namesake, the snitch could prove to be a wily and temperamental little device. The two seekers were giving it their all, scouring the pitch for sight or sign of any little glint of gold. Their teams were even doing well to keep their opponents occupied to give their own seekers as much leeway and calm as possible for an unimpaired hunt. Despite all efforts, however, neither seeker managed to catch even a whiff of the winged ball. For Dan, this would come as nothing new. Veteran to the long game, he was not likely to crack under the pressure of an extended search. Folks in the crowd might be interested to see how Ethen might fare, however. He'd performed admirably in his first game, securing his team a swift catch and subsequent victory. But with every minute that ticked by here, the pressure mounted ever higher upon his shoulders. He'd set an unrealistically high bar for himself right out of the gate, and there weren't many rookies who wouldn't take a tumble at failing to reach it again right away.

Quidditch Game
Tired and pained, Erin would hold onto Koko as they made their way back to her broom. A lonesome device of flight that laid discarded on the ground. The bristled a bit frayed and the shaft had seen better days but it was hers. Her rough lifestyle apparent on her device of flight. She felt better, safer on her arm. The loneliness was not so bad when you forget what it is life to be with people. People that could be anything. People that betrayed. People that lied.
She survived another hit by Quinn, she would survive another. She looked over at the ginger giant and took a deep breath. It was likely his next bludger was coming for either her or for Palmer. Of the two of them, they were both attractive targets. Erin, because she could one-shot the entire team with her brawn even as battered and bruised as she was. Dan because he has had some time to search for the snitch, it would not be long before he finally (and possibly for the first time ever) found the snitch.
The Hufflepuff team was adhering to their tried and true strategy - protect their Seeker. It did them well last year with Serena and thus far this year Ethan had done well also. Once they reached Erin's broom she would announce simply - "I guess this is where we part, until I fall again." Erin would hop off the broom and rush to her broom.
The shaft was already cold from the winter air, her hand would wrap around the length of hardwood and she would straddle the broom. She would take flight as she had done so many times before, turning to look behind her. She expected to see a bludger hurdling towards her. She would need to perform this penalty lap quickly to get back into the game.
