Alexei strolled into the campfire area. His goals for the evening were simple - meet and talk to pretty girls. Unlike the other events, he had no competition or other game to focus on. His sole purpose was his favorite. There were no stupid girly haired boys dumping or pretty boys cursing at him or anything. Just him and the ladies.

He entered the campfire area and scanned the goup. Almost immediately, a girl caught his eye. She had lovely curly hair and eyes that seemed golden. That had to be the light from the campfire, right? Whether or not her eyes truly were gold, she was quite pretty and Alexei's tunnel vision turned on. He approached her and smiled brightly.

"Excuse me, miss, but might I sit with you?" he asked, his Russian accent heavy as he turned up the charm. "I am Alexei Petrov of Durmstrang. What do they call you?" How was it fair that the Hogwarts girls were so much prettier than the ones back home? There were certainly some pretty ones at Durmstrang, but it seemed to him that every single girl from Hogwarts that he had met was just breathtakingly lovely. It also made him question how on Earth anyone at Hogwarts ever got anything done if the girls were just all this pretty all the time.

Long story short, I survived

Eyre was about to make a sympathetic comment on Aurélie's lack of friends when the prick from the BBQ waltzed over and decided to get in the middle of their conversation. It wouldn't have been a problem, as there was a lull, but Eyre was still absolutely angry at the guy for having treated him so poorly at the BBQ. He'd tripped him and made him faceplant while he had a blistering sunburn, which had added another day onto his recovery. Eyre's hands curled into fists at his side. He couldn't let this guy get away with that. Even if it happened almost 10 days ago, he refused to be pushed around by anyone.

"Oh, Alexei now, is it?" Eyre asked him, popping into view. It was likely that Aurelie's hair had made a shield so that he was unable to see him. "I think that we should go over by that tree and have a little chat, mate." Eyre said. He wasn't sure if this was the best idea in the world, purposefully calling him out and getting him alone, but he needed to give him a piece of his mind if he could move towards feeling normal.

He got up from the ground, making it less of an option for the Russian to leave. "Well?" He had a smile on his face, hoping that Aurelie wouldn't notice the bad vibe between the two of them.

one morning this sadness will fossilize and i will forget how to cry. ☆

Cash still look warily on the sweet kebab that Lucia roasted a while ago. After the green eyes girl pointed out how the sweet look like after being roasted, Lucia looked at it doubtfully. Lucia said that she was not sure about the shape of the sweet will be like that and stated maybe it was a muggle thing.

"You are not sure yet you dare to eat the treats"Cash let out a small chuckle. "I salute you"Cash added then lowly clapped with playful manner. Lucia objected when Cash said both Lucia and Scarlett will be the first people in line if the purple haired girl shouted 'food'. Lucia provides that 'sugar' will get her far faster than someone yelling 'food'.

"Does Briar is your father name or...?"Cash trailed off, letting Lucia fills the blank with the information. Up until today, they did not understand how some kids could call their parents by the said parents name. If Cash done that, sure they will get punishment from their father. When Cash called Lucia by 'Luce' there a shifting on the girl.

Cash raised one of their eyebrow. Cash heard Lucia mumbled under her breath but did not catch what the young Badger said. Cash about to ask for Lucia to speak up but Lucia beat them to it. "Sorry. I said, you can call me Lucia-"Lucia said now with much clear voice. Cash look at Lucia nodded their head then smirk.

'It seems I hit the girl comfort zone'. "I mean-"Lucia started, then broke off. "You can-"She paused again. "I-"Lucia let out a small sigh. "Never- never mind."She muttered, cringing at the awkwardness of the whole situation Lucia coughed. "Woah there! do not hurt yourself"Cash stated.

They let out a small laugh with how the sudden awkwardness that come from the other girl. When Lucia said the blanket was definitely a good idea, Cash opened their rainbow blanket that big enough to fit up until three or four people in it. The Serpent laid it across both of them and the other girl. Lucia then took caution bite towards her sweets kebab.

She let out an appreciative sound when the treats in her mouth. "That good, huh?"This time around Cash truly let out their raspy laugh when they saw how Lucia enjoying her treats. After the girl done singing the soft melody of a song that she sang, Cash let out a yawn. The green eyes girl compliment how beautiful Lucia voice and the song was.

Lucia said thank you as her gratitude towards the compliment. Cash asked whether the girl write the song or not, Lucy provided the answer. She said she was not the on that composing the sound and the melody. She also said she can not remembered where she heard it. "Whether you are the one writing the song or not, it is still a beautiful one"The soon to be second year girl told their companion.

Cash look at their own treats that laid forgotten near the rest of their rainbow blanket. The combination of sausages and s'mores that they already took at the beginning of this event. They picked the plate and start munching on their selection of treats and Lucy done the same with her gooey and melted kebab.

I've got a tiny bit of time so here I am ;) @Lucia Fox @Cassandra Ironwoods
"Yeah," joked Scarlett. "I feel I know way more about Lucia Fox's tastes than I want to."

As Lucia began to roast (roast?) her Starbursts, it seemed like some otherworldly force overcame Scarlett. She fell silent and stared at the fire. It was really beautiful, if Scarlett said so herself. The blue flames danced in the darkness, and seemed to demand attention from her like a giant, neon sign shouting Look at me! The fire seemed to radiate with warmth and heat, pulsing with light as it flickered and shone in the night like a pair of particularly bright cat eyes. Scarlett had no idea why she was suddenly so quiet - it wasn't like her at all. But the fire, it was just so...she couldn't really describe it.

Scarlett relaxed and for the first time in her life, felt perfectly content in the peace and quiet. Trees rustled and the fire crackled and others chatted, but it wasn't too loud or chaotic; which was how her life usually was. She let herself wriggle into a comfortable position, a bit like a lanky cat, and fiddled with her fingers. Okay, this was way too casual in front of everyone else. But, no mind.

Lucia started to sing, a beautiful melody about stars and stories and legends. It was fitting to the occasion. She heard Lucia and Cash talking but didn't really pay attention until someone started...coughing? Wait no, it was one cough. And she heard a curse. She looked up. It was Lucia.

Scarlett let Cash finish her sentence before saying to them, "Lucia, there are first-years here! We don't want to be a bad influence do we?"

Immediately afterwards, Scarlett tried to sit up and rolled her ankle. She cursed loudly.

Ignoring the irony, she continued.

"I really think we should get a move-on with the stories - because that's why we're here right? And since no one is bothering to start-"

Scarlett broke off and glanced at everyone. They seemed to all be in conversation or eating. Who knew, maybe they were even telling stories in their own small group of company (which was what she planned to do - there were fourth years and Quidditch players here, not to mention some people Scarlett didn't exactly like).

"So I'll just start to tell you guys a story I guess," shrugged Scarlett. "Okay, so there was once this seventh-year student at Hogwarts, who went here every year..."

chill, it's only chaos

Ileen was glad when the other girl accepted the handshake. She had never understood these people who were randomly hugging people they just met. Noticing the confident and pleasantly firm grip of the other girl’s hand, Ileen gave her another smile. “Hi. Nice to meet you, Santario.” As always when she pronounced unfamiliar new words, a trace of her New Zealand accent crept in by stretching the vowels of the name a little more.

Sipping on her drink, Ileen listened carefully to what Santario told her. She relaxed automatically when the other Slytherin didn't laugh at her or react disparagingly because Ileen herself didn't know much about photography. She did not want to interrupt her, but listened intently to the explanation. It was always interesting to meet someone who was enthusiastic about something and knew a lot about the subject.
Even though she now regretted she hadn’t brought a notebook, she soaked up the information like a sponge. Of course she knew that photos could move. That's what she was most excited about if she was honest. What movement was captured? Or did the movement in the picture reflect the captured mood? She could hardly wait to see her results.
I’m sure I did the error part so far.” She glanced thoughtfully at the other girl with a fine smile on her lips. “I can’t wait to see what the pictures look like. That’s something I’m really excited about... When I see what I really caught with my pictures. And oh, thank you for the tips. I will try that, even though I’m not sure if I got the thing with the light.” A shadow slid across her face when Santario used the word ‘home’. It painfully reminded her that she would not go back there - but now was not the right time to talk about that.

It was the first time since Ileen had met Dee that she talked so much to a stranger. Somehow, the other girl fascinated her. Maybe it was her open and sharing behavior - something Ileen had experienced shockingly few times at Hogwarts so far. “Do you have any plans for pictures here?” She gestured towards the blue fire and frowned at her own camera. Darkness was always a challenge for her. She had removed the flash light, but it was hard to tell if the pictures were shaky now.
After a short break, Ileen would glance at Santario and cock her head. “Wait, you said you are developing the pictures by yourself sometimes? Do you have a lab?” Her brown eyes would sparkle in excitement. “Since when have you been doing this? I mean, the whole photographer thing.” She couldn’t help but ask. Why was someone her age already that skilled? How had she learned it? Had her parents been photographers as well?
Her eyes were fixed on Santario’s sapphire blue ones. Her own face would show her interest - maybe her concern about asking too many questions would be visible for a moment.

Theo looked around when he heard his name. That was about all he understood, when she continued in german. It was the Durmstrang girl Greta Fransson he had met at the chess combat. Back then he seemingly had made a mistake by telling her that he could speak bits of german. It was the bare minimum and he had no idea what she was telling him. Or asking him? Her tone made it sound like a question. He sent her an almost apologizing smile. "Greta, hey. Uh... Ich er... weiß nicht...?" (I er... don't know...?)

When she gave it a try in english, he got at least an idea what she was trying to tell him. "Oh! Yeah sure, you can sit here." He nodded and moved to the side a bit to give her some space. A blond boy, probably from her school walked over and sat near them. Was he going to just listen to them? It was not like he had something to hide, but he had noticed that... almost overseeing behaviour from other schools before. They were kids, what were they scared of? " Is he a friend? Freund?" (Friend?), he asked Greta.

Then she asked him what was going on. Well that conversation was a difficult... But then, Theo had always enjoyed a good challenge. "Oh, so um... Campfire. Feuer. Camp... Feuer?" (Fire?) He started with the obvious, pointing on the blue flames. "People... Uh. Menschen? They tell stories." (Humans? (As in 'People?')) He moved his hands as if he would turn the page of a book. "Uh... Buch? Uh... sagen... Stories?" (Book? Uh... speak... Stories?)
Again his hands showed more than his words. A little unsure he looked at her.

Jess waited for a moment, but the girl that she had approached (Aurelia) didn't respond. Reckoning that she had simply spoken too softly for the girl to have heard her, Jess was about to ask the question again when she heard a voice cut through the air behind her.

"Hello, no not at all."

Jess turned to find a girl looking at her as she shifted over to make room for her, and was momentarily confused. Did she think I was talking to her? Jess thought to herself. She hadn't been, but there was no point in blowing off this girl and going back to talk to the one that Jess had originally planned on sitting with, so Jess smiled at this girl instead. "Thanks," she said gratefully, then sat down next to girl, careful not to take up too much room. She glanced over at the girl's marshmallows, which looked perfectly toasted and very tasty.

Jess herself couldn't properly toast a marshmallow to save her life, as she always either held it too far from the fire and nothing happened, or she kept it in the flames too long and it got burned. There were also the memorable times when Jess accidentally dropped the marshmallow into the fire and had to watch it turn to ashes as it was consumed by flames, of course. Those instances never failed to make Jess feel sad and as if she had failed the marshmallow in some way. She knew that the food didn't actually have hopes and expectations for how she would roast it, of course, since it wasn't alive, but that did little to relieve Jess's guilt. Now, she resolved to finally learn how to properly prepare her marshmallows once and for all. Even if it didn't work, at least asking the girl about this could get her and Jess into a conversation, and spare them the awkwardness of sitting in uneasy silence.

"Um, if you don't mind me asking," She began. "How do you make the marshmallows all nice and.... perfect like that? I always mess mine up..."

Santario shook her head slightly “Don’t worry about having screw-ups I still get them too. No one is perfect.” She recognized the dark shadow that fell over Ileen’s face, something she had said hit a nerve. If she were, to be honest, something she had said hit a nerve for herself as well. The only thing the two didn’t know was that it was the same thing.

When she was asked about her plans for the photos, San just shrugged a little. “I keep personal photo albums. Just memories of my time here, the people, the events I’ve been to.” That was the truth; she just wanted to keep the memories because she of all people knew that people can and will leave you at the drop of a hat. It was good to have good memories after they were gone, even if their departure hurt you. After Ileen, asked her a couple of more questions and this made her smile with a soft chuckle. “Kind of. Professor Jensen was really kind to me after the illegal blossom ball and helped me set up a room to develop the photos after I got out of the hospital wing. It’s the first time I developed them here. Where I live, I have my own darkroom attached to my bedroom, so it’s easier to do things over the summer sometimes.” She thought for a moment on the other question, she was twelve now. “Hm, It’s been like… six years I guess that I’ve been doing it. I started with those… Uhm. Those cameras that get destroyed when the films are used up. When my father was confident enough that I could hold this bad boy here.” She lifted the camera she had for reference. “He started to teach me how to use it. Counting this year though, I’ve really only been ‘good’ at if for the past two. It just takes a lot of practice.”

Santario didn’t seem to mind being asked a lot of questions; in fact, she was actually better at talking to people her own age when asked questions that got her talking. Casual situations seemed to be a bit of struggle for her still, but that was her fault for not socializing as much as she could have. She glanced around them quickly, just taking in who was all actually here before giving her full attention back to Ileen. She recognized two Durmstrang students from the chess combat (Theo and Geta) and Gris, but that was about it.

Ileen listened to Santario carefully. Without noticing, she played around with the strap of her camera - something she tended to do when she was concentrating. “Hm. Capturing memories then.” The dark brown eyes would reflect the blue fire when the young Slytherin peered into it before fixing her gaze on the other girl again. A soft smile curled her lips. “That’s what I’m trying to build. Also, I want to make an album for a friend.” She shrugged. “I guess happy memories are the only present I can give. I just hope to catch some of these moments in here.” She patted the camera and her smile deepened.
That had been her main motivation in the first place to buy the camera. But now she also wanted to capture the memories for herself. She would try to be aware of her past and presence and not ignore, deny, or hide it like her parents had done. She wanted to keep all the steps in mind she had taken to become the person she was. All the people accompanying her on that journey. She had found some great friends and breathtaking adventures. The pictures would help her keep that in mind, even when they were not around.

Santario's next words tore Ileen from her thoughts and her face brightened. “Oh, you have a place to develop them at school?” With sparkling eyes she stroked a strand of her brown hair from her forehead. “Do you - would you mind showing it to me one day? I mean, if it’s too personal I totally understand,” she hurried to add and blushed. She would understand that. She would struggle to show her favorite place for writing to a stranger. It was something intimate - to share spots where you followed your passion.
Still, she hoped that Santario would agree to show her the laboratorium one day - Ileen would kill to see how the pictures were developed. But she carefully tried to hide that since she didn’t want to push the other girl.
Wow, so you basically grew up as a photographer?” Ileen was stunned. The girl was in her year if she recalled correctly so she had started doing this around the age of five or six. To be fair, her own father had taught her yoga when she had been five years old. Maybe this was similar? Ileen ignored the twinge in her heart when she thought of her dad.
Is your father a photographer? Or is it just a hobby?
She didn’t mean to disturb Santario. Maybe the other girl just wanted to take some pictures or chat with other people? But it was an interesting conversation that assured the blue eyed Slytherin all of Ileen’s attention. She actually felt comfortable even though they scratched some sensitive topics a few times.

Aurélie was enchanted by the beautiful voice coming from someone sitting by the campfire too. She then noticed Eyre had become a little frustrated as he balled his fists and stared at a boy who came up to the two. “Excuse me, miss, but might I sit with you?” the boy asked in a heavy Russian accent. He directed his question to Aurélie and added: “I am Alexei Petrov of Durmstrang. "What do they call you?” The boy with the Russian accent had a handsome appearance. It was obvious from his appearance and accent that he wasn’t from around here but Aurélie thought he was very polite. She liked meeting new people and someone from different cultures, like herself, was always an interesting new friend.

Aurélie felt flustered for a few seconds, not excepting anyone to ask her anything, especially with such a noticeable accent. Swiftly, the curly haired girl analysed the words in her head and answered; “Of course you may. I’m Aurélie and this is-“ Before Aurélie could finish her introduction, Eyre interrupted her and said; “Oh, Alexei now, is it? I think we should go over by that tree and have a little chat, mate.” Aurélie was surprised by Eyre’s sudden action and noted he seemed somewhat uncomfortable since Alexei had come up to them. Eyre got up from his seat to hint Alexei to follow him. Aurélie didn’t know what had happened between the two but she got a sense it wasn’t a happy encounter. To show Alexei she didn’t mind if he followed Eyre, she quickly intervened and spoke; “I suppose we can continue talking later. I see you are needed.” The Scottish girl gave Alexei a soft, apologetic smile as to say sorry for her friends behaviour.

Aurélie wondered what had caused for Eyre to feel this way toward the Durmstrang student. She hoped they would get along better after their chat and that she would be able to speak to Alexei again, as she wanted to get to know him. Not that the girl was desperate to make friends but he seemed like a nice guy. Plus, if he was still around when her birthday came the next week, she could invite Alexei to join her and some others for a meet-up in Diagon Alley. As long as him Eyre get along.. Otherwise I won’t ask him. I don’t want Eyre to feel uncomfortable if he’s around.
