Beaming as his spell made contact with Dealla, Thomas got to work, continuing with the strategy that the Black team had discussed prior to the match's begin. It was strange to see the typically quite impassive face filled with emotion, but his desire to win tended to effect such an outcome. At the moment the Ravenclaw boy was thriving, just happy that he hadn't been hit with any spells thus far. He cast another glance at the girl he set on fire, meeting her eyes should she also have been looking, before getting ready to ~do as strategized~.

Idly, he wondered if there was a fire spell that produced bigger flames than Incendio. Year Two was going to be an exciting one for Tommy.

They were in the thick of it now. With players moving into more strategic positions on the board and spells flying to and from each side, the air was abuzz with a magical thrill. Greta, although no novice to duelling, couldn't help but feel her anticipation and excitement mounting. So far, she'd avoided much attention and the confusion of the battle opened an opportunity for her. One that her (relatively) calm demeanor had been quick to pick up on.

"Flipendo!" The jet of light shot diagonally across the squares aimed carefully for the opposing rook kitty-corner to her on the board. Perhaps not the most flawless cast, it was nonetheless successful and hit her target squarely enough to knock her back. The little Durmstrang tried not to be too pleased with herself, but couldn't quite suppress the self-satisfied smile. At the very least, she had done something to support her team. Hopefully she could continue to do so.

With the continued movement of the opposing team, however, Greta's thoughts quickly peeled from sapphire-eyed girl in the corner to the boy that had taken up position adjacent to her. A slight shiver racked through her. He seemed rather.. tall. Fortunately, height was no measure of magical inclination. A energised glint shone in Greta's eye. Whether he was there to challenge her, or simply hold a position, she didn't rightly mind. From the looks of things, the two teams were fairly evenly matched. That just made it all the more exciting.

Falling into a stable stance, Greta lifted her wand like a fencer, ready to strike as soon as opportunity allowed. Where she came from, the Queen did not sit idly on the throne to watch her subjects fight her battles for her. She led the charge.

ROUND 3

Damion was ready for the next round. He knew what he had to do to get through in the round. He wanted to help and see that his team would win the game. He moved to the left of where he was standing. He was doing as he and his team had talked about. He wasn't going to do things that weren't planned. He wanted to be able to win this game.

Adonis was happy in that split-second that his spell once again had been successfully casted, but at the very last bit of it, his attention was interrupted by that of Everett's looks. The boy on the opposing team had distracted him from aiming the spell towards Dealla and thus missed after it had been cast, whizzing right past her. A scowl presented itself on Adonis' face at her remark until he let out a chuckle as he watched her get hit by Thomas' spell right after him. "What was that again? Yeah, I thought so." He said with a grin upon watching her be set aflame once again. He then proceeded to focus back on the objective at hand and got ready.

Everett watched Dealla alight, and not wanting anyone to get her via engulfed in fire which seemed like the worst possible situation his wand quickly flicked towards her. "Extinguo!" As Dealla was quickly saved from being set aflame, he couldn't help but grin with pride looking towards Mars, "See, I can be usef--" And, she was on fire again. "Could you be less flammable?" He groaned and prepared for the next round.

Round Three

10th of July 2020, noon

It seemed that Team White was going on the extreme defensive this time around. Two members were taking care of their dwindling stamina and chose to dodge this time around while their Queen was nice enough to put the flames on his teammate out. That was quite nice of him considering the bickering the team seemed to be doing amongst themselves. The frustration on the dueler's faces that wished to cast a spell and failed, not because they failed to cast but because their opponents were capable of dodging so well, reminded the professor of his time in the dueling club as a student. Frustrations come often and frequently.

Watching as Greta dodged not one but two attacks from the opposing team and the young Dealla Prince managed to save her own life by dodging yet another Incendio aimed at her. If she hadn't dodged that flame spell and if her Queen, Everett, hadn't put out her flames, she definitely would be out of the match by the end of the next round. Fortunately for her, she still is conscious. Santario also managed to successfully dodge and save her own meager stamina as it seemed as if Mr. Duncain, with his snot covered face, was focused hard on the young Slytherin girl. Maybe there was a crush to be had between the two? Unrequited love in which Theodore wished for payback against a rejection? Only the students would know but one thing was for certain, the players in this match were quite the lucky bunch.

“Anytime Mars.” would be the girl's response towards Mars' gratitude for stabilizing them as they moved to the square diagonal to her. They were a team after all and their success meant her success, which was all that mattered in the end. She looked down at her opponent this time more than ready for the blazing blue light that came flying her way. Instead of casting back, she dropped to a squatting position resting comfortably on the balls of her feet, allowing the blue light to fly over her head.

As she brought herself back to a standing position, she watched Thomas move in front of her, which was fine. Theo was going to pass out by the end of the game any way that was the point of hitting him straight out of the gate knowing full well none of them had access to the counter curse. Even better that Thomas got in the way because now she didn’t have to watch Theo’s face continue to snot up, which truly was a disgusting sight. "Mars watch your left." Trying to draw their attention to Thomas so that they at least knew he was there. She wasn't sure if Mars had seen it being focused on the other team's queen.

Dee sighed in relief as her flames were once again extinguished, gifting Everett with another bright smile. "Well, at least I'm giving you purpose, right, Princess?" she asked pleasantly, then threw a dark glower towards Thomas, the reason she'd had to be put out again in the first place. Mars was now standing between them, but she hoped someone would make him pay.

Distracted as she was, she almost missed it when Adonis once again tried to set her on fire - wasn't he getting sick of it at some point? Wasn't it boring, doing the same thing over and over and over again? Where was his imagination, his sense of style? - but with something halfway between a sixth sense and pure luck, she managed to dance out of the way in time, light-footed and graceful, barely fazed if one ignored her missing sleeve and the soot marks on her skin. To be honest, her hair was also a bit singed, and there was the tell-tale redness of slight burns on her skin, but she certainly didn't act like someone who'd been set on fire twice already.

There was a wicked grin on her face when she turned towards Adonis again. "Gotta try harder than that!" she called over to him, only to realise that between dodging and adding her two knuts to all that was going on around her, she'd completely missed the time window to take a more active action this round.

Grumbling to herself, her smile disappearing, she focused back on the ongoing competition. She wasn't going to waste another round - she was not going to be the reason they should lose.

He rolled his eyes as she mentioned that she was giving him something to do. "Yeah, but I could be doing something more use--" Someone was trying to set her on fire again. "Do y'all not know how to do anything else? My goodness. Y'all are really lacking creativity in the attack department." Ah, the wise words of a boy who wasn't being attacked at all so he could have the freedom to dictate the best way to attack his teammates.

Thomas cheered as Greta managed to dodge not one, but two different spells. His eyes scanned the playing field as he stepped forward into his next position, readying himself to enact the next part of his team's strategy. An uncharacteristically wicked grin appeared on his face--the boy always did have a fondness for winning, but this was his first opportunity to use his spells in a martial context without consequences. It was exciting, perhaps slightly more than what was strictly kosher, but Thomas was enthusiastic nonetheless.

Calling to his team's queen, he threw Greta a thumbs up and shouted, "VERY GOOD!"
