Asian Society Club

Hello everyone! A new school year has begun and that means clubs will be back in session! Thank you all for signing up. Since it's a new year, the first thing I'd like to do is a membership check. Next up, there have been a few similar suggestions about holding an event of some sort to show off different aspects of Asian cultures and I'd love to make that a goal for us this year. A cultural festival that incorporates different booths with different displays of arts/foods/fashions. Some performances of traditional cultural music or dance. We could also add some fun games like they do at Japanese matsuri and maybe finish off the festival with fireworks display?

If everyone is down for this idea, we could split the work by dividing up the cultures between the people most comfortable with them. I believe we have representation from Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam, and the Philippines? If we want to go as far as the middle east, I can also provide (out of character) some knowledge of Persian and Arabic countries.

Let me know what you all think. We will also need to pick a date for the event. I'd suggest giving us a month or so of planning time, maybe early October?

Booth Theme: (i.e. Spicy Sichuan Chinese food, South Asian food, a game, traditional Japanese dress and how to make Japanese green tea, booth with a pretty zen garden you can sit in and help rake the stones, etc)
