Character Name (First and last name): Clark Baird
School Year or Adult Level: 2nd Year
House: Hufflepuff
Link to Encyclopedia: Clark's Ency
Reason for Reapplication: Octavius cannot teach Clark at home and work at the same time. It is difficult for him to maintain, and with Clark being a little hell-raiser, he felt it would be easier to send him back to Hogwarts, so he did. Sometimes, you'll have to come to terms that you cannot handle everything at the same time, and it is hard for Octavius to care for all of his children and work, so to alleviate some of the stress, he would return Clark to the very school he pulled him from.
Reason for Leaving: -It. That's The Way You Need It.
Following this, Clark had not put forth effort and dedication to advancing a year, to follow his love-of-his-life into third year. No, he was being reckless and when it came to taking the end of the year exams to advance, he did not pass. He had to be held back.

My Time Before Hogwarts:
It was a beautiful day when I came into the world in a somewhat secluded village in North London, England. Until I was 11 years old, I was homeschooled, and I cherished the time spent at home. The first magical incident occurred, as I recall, two days before my 11th birthday. I was playing in the garden when, unexpectedly, I set our hedge on fire. Shocked, my parents asked about the incident, and I recounted the burning corner in the garden. They extinguished the fire and explained that I possessed magical abilities. My parents, both wizards in our pure-blood family, reassured me that it was normal for magical abilities to manifest and that it might happen more often.

On my 11th birthday, I finally received the long-awaited Hogwarts letter. Excited for Hogwarts, as my parents had shared many stories about it, I already had a favorite house in mind. I knew about the various subjects like Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and flying on broomsticks. My parents had even taken me on a broomstick ride in the garden, albeit in circles. I must say, I always enjoyed flying on a broomstick.

Valkyrie Skandul

Reason for Reapplication:
OOC
I’ve been inactive for a while due to starting a new job and a lack of motivation. Now that things have settled, I’m eager to return to the site and pick up Valkyrie’s story again. I look forward to engaging with the community and developing her character further.

IC
Valkyrie Skandul’s return to Hogwarts comes after an unexpected two-year absence following the passing of her grandfather, an event that deeply affected both her and her family. Though he had not been an everyday presence in her life, his loss marked the first time she truly experienced grief, and it left her feeling adrift in unfamiliar emotions.

In accordance with Skandul family tradition, her parents, Roselia and Althalos Skandul, withdrew from public life for an extended mourning period. Out of respect for their loss and to ensure the family remained together during this difficult time, they made the decision to pause Valkyrie’s Hogwarts education. What was originally intended to be a short reprieve gradually stretched into two years, as the weight of grief and family expectations kept her at home longer than she had anticipated.

Though she continued her magical education through private tutors, life at home felt stagnant and isolating. The once beloved halls and gardens of her family’s estate became quiet reminders of what had changed, and as time passed, she began to feel restless—longing for something beyond the grief that had settled over them. She missed Hogwarts—not just the lessons, but the sense of life and possibility it had offered her.

Eventually, Valkyrie came to a realization: while mourning was part of her family’s legacy, it did not have to define her future. With her parents’ blessing and urging, she made the choice to return to school, ready to step back into a world that had moved forward without her.

Now, resuming her education, Valkyrie is determined to rebuild what she left behind—not just her academics, but her place in the wizarding world. Though she still carries the lingering weight of loss, she is ready to move forward—not as the girl who left, but as the young witch who has found her own reason to return.

1. Since your character is held back two years, where was your character when she felt withdrawn and disconnected? Was she at home to take a break from Hogwarts? I suggest you to provide more detail of her not moving up two years. Take a note that it would be unlikely for Hogwarts to not graduate the students if they are in the school.

Character Name (First and last name): Sage Willows
School Year or Adult Level: 2nd
House: Hufflepuff
Link to Encyclopedia: x
Reason for Reapplication: Rewritten backstory. The original is sort of confusing and lacks detail. New version is better written and includes more important information for Sage’s character.
Old version:
Reducio
Sage’s childhood was quite…different from most children. She was born to Christopher, an muggle man, and Autumn, a witch, Willows one rainy night. Her mother passed away shortly after Sage turned two and left Sage with little memories of her. Her father decided that anything fantasy or anything that couldn’t possibly be real was to be banned from his home, like it was when he was a child. Sage grew up with no other siblings until her father wedded a woman named Cassie. Cassie also happened to be a witch but knowing what her husband thought of witches, she kept it hidden for quite some time. She only revealed her magic to Sage after her first instance of magic. Christopher would find out later. Cassie had one daughter named Kora who was three when she came to live with them. Kora’s mom, Cassie, had already told her that she was a witch. Kora’s father is a muggle. As of right now, Kora has no magical ability but that could change in her future. After Sage had her first instance of magic, Cassie began to teach Sage about the magical community. Not long after her first magical encounter, her father discovered and grew very angry. He had parted with magic and wasn’t ready to welcome it back with open arms. He told Sage and Cassie to either ‘be normal’ or leave. Cassie knew she couldn’t do that so Cassie took Sage and Kora away with her to live in a small home in Kent, England. Sage was taught by Cassie all about the community she was now part of until she received her letter. Cassie did not want Sage to show up at Hogwarts with no idea what was happening, especially knowing she would be a target of bullying because of her prosthetic leg, especially since her leg could have been magically fixed. Her mother, Autumn, passed away in a car crash when Sage was two. The two were on their way to a book store when the crash occurred. The crash instantly killed Autumn but Sage ended up need to have her leg amputated immediately. Because of the crash and her not having magical healing access, she learned to walk with a prosthetic leg.

New version:
Reducio
On the rainy night of November 21st 2011, Sage Lyla Willows was born to Autumn (née Lyser) and Christopher Willows in London, England. Perfect and gorgeous, everything was right when Sage came into the world.

Autumn and Christopher met by chance on the streets of London when Christopher was having difficulty getting a cab to stop for him. Autumn happened to be walking by at the time and insisted on helping him. Fascinated by the woman who helped him, Christopher asked if he could join her. She said yes, and the rest was history.

Christopher was raised in a devout Christian household, one that felt very strongly about fantasy. His two siblings, Joseph and Reagan, separated themselves from their family’s viewpoints when Joseph married Marietta Gray and took her last name. They have two children, Amelia and Bowen. Reagan changed her surname to her middle name, Elia, and cut off contact with her parents. A year after Christopher and Autumn’s marriage, his mother Catherine Willows died. Her husband, George Willows, died when Sage was nine. In adulthood, Christopher got a job as a bookkeeper at an accounting firm.

Autumn was a muggle-born witch from Ireland. Her older brother, Tyson Lyser, shunned her and thought of her as odd and evil with her abilities as a witch and metamorphmagus. Tyson married Sofia Lyser and together had one daughter, Ane Lyser. The family of three were not very active in the Willows’ lives. Autumn’s parents, Iris and Thomas, were more accepting of their daughter's abilities. During her time at Hogwarts, Autumn was in the Gryffindor house. Autumn had a few internships at newspaper companies, but ultimately became a stay-at-home mum after Sage was born. She wanted to go into journalism once Sage was older but never got the chance.

Autumn, Sage, and Christopher were having a seemingly perfect life living in London. Autumn had adopted more muggle customs and had even learned to drive a car so she could fit in and help Christopher be more comfortable with her witchcraft. One day when Sage was two, the mother and daughter were driving to a bookstore. Out of nowhere, a truck rammed into the car and caused a huge wreck. Autumn died immediately after hitting her head, but Sage survived. Taken to the hospital, Sage had her left leg amputated above the knee. Due to being left with no magical family, Sage had no access to magical healing and therefore made her only option amputation. Sage walks with a prosthetic leg and additionally has a running blade.

When Sage was five, her father brought a new woman into her life: Cassie Lynn, who would soon become Cassie Lynn-Willows. Cassie had lost her husband, a muggle named Henry Lynn, a few years prior due to illness. At the time, she had been pregnant with a daughter, Kora. Cassie happened to be a witch as well, a Slytherin at Hogwarts, and Kora would turn out to be a witch at a summer party when Sage was 10. At the time, none of the girls were living with Christopher so he never learned that Kora was a witch too. Cassie worked as a Magizoologist at a small reserve nearby in London, switching to a new reserve location once they moved to Kent. In efforts to keep her job secret as well, she told her second husband that she was a veterinarian at a zoo.

Knowing what Christopher thought of witchcraft, Cassie kept the abilities of Sage and herself hidden from him (Kora had not had her first instance of magic yet so there was nothing to hide). She kept the abilities hidden the way you normally would, not using magic around the house, not talking about magic when Christopher was around, the usual. That was, until a rainy evening when Sage had her first instance of magic. It was then when Cassie told her of her own magic and begane explaining the magical community to her. When Christopher discovered their abilities, he gave them two options: be ‘normal’ or leave. They chose the latter. He had discovered they were witches when he came home early from work one day- Cassie and Sage not hearing him come in- and overheard a conversation they were having about what a defense against the dark arts class was, horrified immediately and starting the argument that would lead to them moving out.

At seven years old, Cassie, Kora, and Sage packed up their lives in London and moved to Kent, England. They remained there with little contact with Christopher for many years, and Sage was fine with this.

In Kent, Sage and Kora were homeschooled by Cassie. When Cassie had work, she always made sure the girls had someone to look after them. In the time before Sage started Hogwarts, Cassie began teaching her about magic to make sure she was prepared for what she’d be walking into.

Contact with Sage’s extended family was rare, and they were almost completely out of her life after the accident. Her uncle Joseph and aunt Marietta Gray offered to help look after her in the time right after her mum’s death, but Christopher declined their help. The couple still tried to be active in her life, offering help to Cassie when it was needed.

Then the day Sage had been waiting for since she was seven came: her Hogwarts letter arrived.

Reason for Reapplication: I'm asking for a birthday change. I know it said in the first post of this thread you do not grant these but in FAQ Zach Zaphiere said I could ask. The reason I want this is because my current birthdate (December 19th) is in the worst possible time of year for me to role-play about it.

I know I can backdate but it doesn't make sense to backdate this every single year. Also, backdating can often lead to making my whole thread system not make sense. Especially when you need to backdate multiple threads that relate to each other. For instance, I have a backdated for my character meeting someone else that I recently finished however, after that thread we plan on our characters duelling but that requires us to backdate further and it messes up everything. Also I often mention past rp's in my present ones and backdating something important like a birthday would take away from an ability to that because the stuff from that day which should be long gone is still being written.

If this gets approved could I have my new birthday be February 23rd?
STATUS: Denied, Melisande, 11 February
Reason for denial:
- First I need to apologise, but I can't accept your re-application. As you said, it is explained in the first page of this thread that we don't accept bloodstatus and date of birth changes. I can't accept yours when others got it denied, it wouldn't be fair.

Avis grew up in a pretty standard suburban home. Her entire life consisted of around 7 people, her dad, who owned a small carpentry business in town, her mom, who homeschooled her after the 1st-grade failure, (Written Here) her younger sister Alaina, her gram and gramps, an aunt, and her best friend Maria, whose father worked in Avis' family store. Her entire life revolved around these people, and she became suspicious of everyone else, having difficulty trusting others. Avis loved and hated homeschooling. She loved it because she didn’t have to wait for other students, and she hated it because her mother wasn’t the type to go light on her. She did Tae-Kwon-Do, although her lack of athleticism led to a very long journey with little reward. She also played the trumpet, saxophone, and piano and is curious to see if she can find one at Hogwarts. She really misses Alaina and Maria. Alaina, being only a year and a half younger, Avis and her had a relationship close to that of twins, and have never been apart for long, and Maria being her best(and only) friend. Her family lived in an apartment for the first 8 years of Avis life, (an apartment on the 5th floor, with no elevator), and when they moved to a house, they purposely moved near Maria's house. Her parents were very strict and as such Avis has learned the very best ways to be sneaky, but is also very clean and neat. Her favorite place in the house was a little nook her mom had made her in the basement, for her to do her reading and homework, without anyone bothering her. Avis has never left her little town before this, she never needed to, but she always felt like she had a little retreat to can her own.

New
Reducio
Avis’ paternal grandmother (Ehani) and grandfather (Jeevan) immigrated to England from Nepal in 1996, along with their kids, the then 8-year-old Kiran, Avis’ dad, and the then 2-year-old Aina, her aunt. They originally moved to London, with Ehani raising her kids, and Jeevan working in construction whilst learning English. In 2001, when Kiran turned twelve, the family moved to Harrow, Jeevan opened his Carpentry Shop (Brilliantly named Marlong Carpentry), with Ehani working in the back, decent at woodworking herself, as both kids were off to Primary School. In 2003 the shop hired its first employee, a man named Holden. Kiran, now 13, also began to help out around the shop.

In 2006, a now 18-year-old Kiran began to work full time, and Aina, now 14, also helped out, allowing Ehani to start working at a nearby library, shelving books and finally trying to learn English. She didn't really succeed. Kiran met Ava Ernest, Avis’ mother, in the shop one day in 2007, and the two got married in 2009, renting a small apartment (on the 5th floor, with no elevator) in an old but clean building. Her mother’s background is pretty vague, as I’d like to keep open opportunities.

In 2010, it became clear that Holden had been stealing money from the Marlongs, and rumors began to fly, a source of scandal in the Marlongs’ circles. It was a lot of money. Aina, ever the rebel, avoided the problems by running off to college. We’ll see how that works out for her. With help from Ava and her dad, Jeevan managed to rebuild his business, before deciding in 2015 to retire. He began to adopt Holden as a word of surprise, (“What in holden name, for holdens sake”), and Kiran, Avia, and Alaina eventually adopted the phrase. Avis was born in 2013, her sister Alaina in 2014. Aina graduated college at this point, with a major that I will figure out later, and did something. Of what, I’m sure I’ll think of at some point but this is really about Avis isn’t it?

Kiran took over the business, after having bought it for one pound from his father. In 2019, many things happened all at once. Avis was…well…somewhat blamed for the accident, (Written Here), and she and her sister were pulled out of school and began to be homeschooled. Her best friend at the time, Ellie, completely ditched her, and a young Avis didn’t really understand it, and she became suspicious of everyone else, having difficulty trusting others. Her father’s store was also booming, and he was finally forced to hire an employee, a man by the name of Daniel, who was paid in part by his young daughter, Avis' age, who was homeschooled with the girls. In 2020, Daniel and Maria moved to a nicer house soon after the death of his wife. (Kiran ever the one to pay his employees before himself), and in 2021, the Marlongs followed, purposely moving down the street from Maria’s house. Avis’ favorite place in her new house was a little nook her mom had made her in the basement, for her to do her reading and homework, without anyone bothering her. Avis had never left her little town before coming to Hogwarts, she never needed to, but she always felt like she had a little retreat to can her own. When she was nine, she created a cipher of symbols that she planned to use to write in a diary, but it turns out journaling was not for Avis, and instead, she just wrote scattered phrases. She still has this cipher memorized and uses it occasionally.

Avis loved and hated homeschooling. She loved it because she didn’t have to wait for other students, and she hated it because her mother wasn’t the type to go light on her. She became somewhat ahead of her age group, simply by not having twenty other kids in her class, but by how much, she didn’t ever really know. Her mother was very strict and as such Avis has learned the very best ways to be sneaky, but is also very clean and neat.

She did Tae-Kwon-Do, although her lack of athleticism led to a very long journey with little reward and little friends. She also played the trumpet, saxophone, and piano and is curious to see if she can find one at Hogwarts. Her sister Alaina also plays flute, though not to the depth that Avis plays. Alaina, being only a year and a half younger, Avis and she had a relationship close to that of twins, and have never been apart for long.

She sleeps in the same room as Alaina, oftentimes with the addition of Maria, who always had an overnight bag packed. In general, the girls went to bed an hour earlier than they really needed to, as all knew that there would be at least an hour of chatting before sleeping. Years of these conversations had taught her that extended silence was nothing to create awkwardness, simply a moment for both sides to think, creating a more fruitful conversation. It had also taught her that sometimes people can fall asleep in the middle of a sentence. Avis, if she wants to, could always fall asleep in the blink of an eye, and she sleeps straight on her back, arms at her sides like a board, but when she wants to stay awake she would curl up on her side, a position she couldn’t fall asleep on.

STATUS: Approved- Koko, 21 February 2025
