Paisley just shook her head, cracking a large smile at Sarah's joke. "Sure...we'll see about that." she said. They danced for a few moments longer until Allie approached.
To the young Gryffindor's surprise, Sarah offered a large bear hug to Allie. Goodness, a part of me is wondering if this is just some wierd, twisted dream. No one is the same tonight. "Are you coming with anyone tonight, Allie? I came with Sarah, although that seems obvious." she said, giving a lighthearted laugh. Sweat trickled down her neck as she hoped this went well. She wasn't any stranger to girls, and they could get really, really jealous about friends rather quickly. She wanted none of that here, for it was one of the many reasons she had hated muggle school.
"So we could, uhm, actually, nevermind." she was going to propose they dance, but then realized that she knew no three person dances. They would have to dance alone, or not at all. Paisley leapt out of the way of two twirling students whom she didn't see the faces of as they narrowly missed the three. "That was close." she muttered, casting a glare back at the dances. She ten spoke grimly. "The dance floor is a-" she burst into giggles before she could finish her sentence. "Rough, rough place." she was laughing for a few moments longer, and then turned to Allie. "So, do you have any dance experience?" she asked her.

"Tiring indeed. My youngest siblings are, wild, really, but my older siblings seem to think I'm a bigger nuisance to them." he winked. "Indeed. I do love abstract, because you can do something complely terrible and still say it looks great. It's also calming, watching the brush move where it'd like. It almost feels as if I'm not in control." he explained, and then listened as Lydia spoke. The sound of her voice was beautiful, almost as much as her eyes. He felt himself have a feeling he had never experienced, and not just because of Lydia's stunning eyes. She seemed smart, kind, and he had the creeping sensation that he was falling in 'like', for he was only 11, almost 12, and could not love at his small age, and he was well aware.
"Music is a wonderful thing to be good at. It's the language of people, completely disregarding race or gender or anything else. Everyone can understand music, which is a wonderful thing. It's almost as if you're learning a new language." said August poetically, and realized afterwords he had said the same words over and over again. Goodness, Henry! What are you doing?
"Ohh..." August opened his mouth to say more, but Lydia changed the subject quickly. "I'm August." he said halfheartedly, no longer as cheerful as before. He had said something to upset Lydia, and he barely knew her yet. The thought sent guilt. "August Henry, what's your name?" he paused, thinking for a few moments. "I didn't come up to dance with you just because of how you looked." he said after a long break of silence. "In fact, I didn't even realize how amazing you looked until after the twirl. I just...thought you'd like a friend." he sighed. "I think you have an awfully divine personality, really."

The Fall Ball (Masquerade)

@Elisabeth Erner
Gregorí and Elisabeth had just arrived at the masquerade when he realized things were not as he had expected just less than five minutes ago. There were people everywhere, even more than the number of them in the costume party, but some were behaving in an equally childish way with all the public-place arguments and fights they must have thought as cool or dramatic - "And so, they think it's worth doing," Gregorí said inside his head disapprovingly.
He looked at Elisabeth, wondering if this would be all right for her. He himself did not particularly enjoy being in a crowd, but he could understand that she was terribly uncomfortable in that situation. On the bright side though, the music here was not so loud like the one played in the costume party - instrumental classic, he was just sure she liked it.
"So..." he tried to speak up. "So many people here. Do you still want to dance? Or do you want to go back to the costume party? Or... do you want to call it a night?"
The pretty girl looked back at him, their dark eyes met. "I'd rather stay and have one dance, please," was her answer.
Gregorí nodded in understanding and smiled gently to calm her. "Okay then. Actually, do you mind to wait while I grab some soda? I see there's some tables there at the corner, you can sit while waiting." The Mexican boy led her to one of the tables and the Belizean girl sat patiently while he got himself some Coca-Cola. Good thing they have Muggle drinks here too.
Suddenly there was a big commotion, a ghost made a dramatic entrance and said out loud that there was a riddle to solve. Some students looked very excited and ready to follow the first clue. Gregorí gulped his soda and came back to Elisabeth. "Do you prefer to dance or try the riddle? I know you like both."

The Fall Ball (Masquerade)
Unable and unwilling to find himself a dance partner, Søren wondered if his choice to attend the masquerade ball was the wrong one. Before attending, he couldn’t imagine the costume party being more entertaining than the masked gathering, but he was reconsidering after walking around the ballroom by himself since he entered. Most of his friends were grouped, either with their dates or with each other, talking about useless things. The rest of people he knew were occupied too, with dates of their own or ensuring that the ball went smoothly. Maybe it was the masks that acted like a barrier to him, but Søren didn’t feel like he was in a social mood tonight.
The happenings weren’t all boring, though. A punch was thrown. Two flashes of light, silver and blue, alerted him to spells being casted. Things were popping off, as the muggles say. But nothing could hold Søren’s attention like the ghostly rider who announced his presence in a dramatic fashion. Flashing back to the events of last year, he immediately scanned the room for possible exits. Upon noticing that many of the staff present seemed unfazed, he calmed down and noticed a good number of students making their way out of the ballroom, following the rider and the specter of a feline. Interested and still on edge, Søren decided he would follow them.Action

Dee huffed slightly but was smiling still at his teasing, her eyes twinkling with amusement. It wasn't like he'd given her much of a chance to get to know him. "Are you going to run again if I start asking questions?" she retorted, remembering their breakfast during summer camp where it had gone much the same way. "That makes it a little hard to find out things about you, you know." She had never had problems starting conversations, getting people talking, no matter how reluctant they were. If they didn't open up, she just kept talking until they did, even if it was just to shut her up. Literally running from the conversation, however, was a very effective way to prevent getting to know someone, she thought. The light in her eyes said that she was just teasing; she didn't bear any grudges, thought it was funny, really. "Where did you learn to dance, then?"
Her eyes wandered through the Ballroom as they danced, observing the faces around them. It seemed to be going well so far, except for a small commotion in one direction that was punctuated by the flash of light of what looked like spells. A small wrinkle appeared on her forehead, immediately worried - but there was no flicker of fire, and for all she knew, the spells had been innocent, a prank maybe, or someone showing off. She still noted the direction, deciding to check in if it drew more attention.
When Zyk moved his hand from her hip to her back, she looked up at him, quirking her eyebrows in confusion. "Still not what Ileen showed me, but yeah, better, I guess?" His confession that this was his first slow dance earned a bright grin instead. "I'm not that breakable, but I can step on your feet, too, if it makes you feel better." Memories of her recent dancing experiences made her roll her eyes. "You can't be much worse than me, at least, according to some people I've met."
This was much easier than whatever complicated sequence of steps Ileen had tried to teach her last month, and Dee found she was really enjoying herself. Zykeal was being sweet rather than vexing for once, and she managed to only step on his foot once. Entirely by accident, of course. But then the song ended, and another one passed, and at some point, the novelty of dancing was starting to wear off, and Dee could feel the impatience starting to climb up inside her, itching in her fingers, demanding for something different.
She was about to suggest heading off the dance floor when Zykeal beat her to it, and she agreed, pleasantly surprised. She shrugged, her eyes scanning the nearby crowd once more while she let him lead her towards the refreshment table. Something to drink sounded nice. "Seems quiet so far, I don't know," she replied. "Maybe I won't need to step in anywhere. I wanted to dance with my other friends at some point, though." She hadn't spotted Ileen or Aida yet, but she was planning to look for them at some point.
Accepting the drink with a quick smile, she then grinned and twirled around again to let the fringes of her dress fly. "I think we'll be fine," she replied, then shrugged. "People are encouraged to switch locations no matter what they wear, anyway. There's not strict dress code. And what in Merlin's name is Barmbrack?" Her eyes shone with amusement while she tried to mimic his way of pronouncing the word. "Don't tell me it's another odd Irish potato dish."
Picking a drop out of one of the bowls - she knew the ones here were safe, after all, although she was also tempted to try some of the tricky ones at the Costume Party later - she unwrapped it with quick fingers, leaning against the table next to Zykeal. "Favourite sweet? Hmm..." Her eyes were thoughtful. "Not sure. I like chocolate. Ileen and I made chocolate chip cookies in summer, those were great... Not a big fan of Bertie Bott's Beans." She grinned at the memory of the cookies where they had replaced the chocolate chips with the every flavour beans, turning them into a bit of a cookie roulette. Her father had not been a fan of his sock-flavoured one. "How about you? I know you weren't a fan of my fantastic birthday cake, and you pawned off all your jelly slugs on me at the stargazing thing in summer. Your loss, by the way."
Looking around for a rubbish bin in vain - had they forgotten those in their planning? - she finally resorted to sneakily putting the wrapping paper into the pocket of Zykeal's jacket while he was looking another way, apparently scanning the crowd for something or someone, and just grinned cheekily at him if caught in the act. Her dress didn't have pockets, after all, what was she supposed to do?
She was about to ask what he was looking for when the relative peace of the ball was interrupted by the ghost and his horse crashing through the window, and Dee froze, her eyes widening - until she realized the window was unbroken. She looked around thoughtfully while the ghost delivered his speech, then shrugged. This had been more dramatic than expected, but there seemed to be quite a few students drawn in by the mystery and excited to solve it.

Honestly, Elisabeth did not know what to answer. Gregorí was right, she found both options appealing. Dancing was one of her favourite pastimes, even her newest acquaintances would know about that. Solving riddles was fun too, for the girl had both strong curiosity (just like most women did, they said) and high intelligence.
But both options also had their drawbacks - although, to be honest, it was one same drawback. It looked like that many people would participate in both. And, Elisabeth hated crowds! She always felt that they were maddening.
Tonight, however, Gregorí was here with her. Sure he was a new friend, but the Hufflepuff felt very comfortable with him, and him being around made her feel safe. The two had clicked instantly and sometimes she wondered if this was how it felt to have an elder sibling.
As the Hispanic-Asian girl considered her answer, she also tried to think things thoroughly from Gregorí's point of view. He did not really enjoy dancing. He was in Horned Serpent, the Ilvermony house that was said to favour the scholars. It was very clear then, Elisabeth was sure he would prefer trying to crack the riddle.
"¿Prefieres resolver el acertijo?" she asked him back. "Suena bien para mí." *)

Ami hissed sharply as she could feel the hard heel of Scott's dress shoe stamp on her own, cursing the soft leather for not standing up to the Gryffindor's horror at her manners, or rather, lack thereof. But, of course, she shook it off as she continued to inquire after the stranger's attire, and Scott finally seemed to return to his body as thoughts and words returned to his mind. She scoffed quietly at Scott's hurriedly half-assed an explanation for her horrible manners. But what was the point in using pretty words if you could only beat around the bush with them?
But her jaw promptly dropped open in surprise as she heard the honeyed, Texan words flowing out of the boy's mouth, although she barely managed to restrain herself from throwing her arms around him in a giant bear hug. It felt so rare to meet another American here at Hogwarts, and Ami already knew that they would be very good friends, indeed.
Plus, he actually knew their names; as he stumbled through her last name, Ami shot Scott an excited glance, before glancing at the mini-Scott standing in front of them. He... looked like Scott, but minus the paisley and hair gel. American Scott? He looked like an American Scott, and while it was a bit unnerving at first, she quickly decided that they would simply have to be friends. At the mention of his name, Ami filed him away as "Chuck" without a second thought, although she elbowed Scott with a waggle of her eyebrows as she heard Woodward address him as "sir". What a snazzy little fellow! If only there were more students like him at Hogwarts; what a much better school it would be.
Ami nodded sagely as Chuck explained that his mask was a Wendigo, or Wendigo-themed, recalling the name from her history lessons in America. "I'm from America, too," she explained, "So I guess that's where I've seen it. Although... I lived in Chicago, so I guess I don't know much about Wendigos and stuff."
His flowery language, however strange it was, seemed more on Scott's level than hers. Gently adjusting her feathery mask on her face, Ami glanced at Scott as Chuck asked if they had mistaken him for someone else. Had they? She couldn't recall just why, exactly, she had marched on over here, the adrenaline of the night turning her thoughts into a frantic whirlwind. She could smell the heavy perfumes and colognes of the various partygoers, and the wide array of colors were distracting, at best. "Hmm... Scott, why are we here, again?" she wondered aloud, tapping her chin slightly. "Who knows! I definitely do-"
But there was a commotion. Ami's head quickly whipped around, her mask nearly flying clean off her face as her ears strained to catch the booming words of the intruder inside the ballroom. Glancing nervously at Scott, Ami's hand clenched into a fist, as if she were ready to punch whatever threat had arrived. Noticing the considerable amount of students flooding from the ballroom, Ami turned back to Scott and Chuck. "Something's happening," she muttered, clearly stating the obvious, "And I want to see what it is. Chuck, my boy... we may not know each other, but we do now. Let's go."
Grabbing Chuck's elbow firmly in one hand and Scott's wrist in another, the Hufflepuff easily dragged them along with her down the corridor, the dark swath of cloth draped across her shoulders swishing dramatically as the trio made their way to the hunt.
No one went on an adventure without Ami Procoppio.

The Fall Ball (Masquerade)
Percival stood awkwardly his hand was held out towards his girlfriend. At the ready to take her hand in his. Girlfriend. The world felt heavy in his mouth like he was chewing on a piece of gauze. It felt surreal and he wondered when he would wake up from this dream. When Percival had found out that Opeila liked him, actually liked him, he had been ecstatic. Not many people got the chance to date their crush, and he counted himself lucky.
Though as time passed that ecstatic feeling had begun to wear off. Those rose-tinted sunglasses had fallen off and he felt like he was truly looking at Opeila. The way she would relax in his presence. The way she would become flustered around him. He found it strangely sentimental, and a part of him could not help but wish for that to never go away.
Though all good things seemed to come to an end when it came to him. His heart ached as he remembered his earlier thoughts. Percival wanted to believe that he must have just fabricated the distance between them. It was possible he had just overthought things and had gotten ahead of himself. A part of him knew the truth. No matter how much he tried to bury it down. Yet, he couldn't find it in himself to focus on it. Deciding it better to get lost in the movement of their dance.
Percival's face blushed heavily as she accepted his proposal for a dance. The boy's face felt hot, and he cleared his throat before leading her to the dance floor. His heart thumped slightly in his chest as he turned fully towards her. Percival could not help but appreciate those horrendous dancing lessons now. He had faith that he would be able to lead Opeila successfully.
The only hurdle was to make sure that his nervousness did not get in the way. The last thing he wanted was to smash Opeila's foot by continually stepping on it. As the two moved across the dance floor, Percival could not help but focus solely on Opeila. She was his date so it made sense to focus on her. The people around them seemed to blur slightly in his peripheral vision.
The boy wanted to compliment her. Whether it be her dress or her dancing skills. Both compliments would have worked since both would have been true. Though things did not go as planned as a foot slammed down onto his right foot. Percival let out a surprised shout letting go of Opeila completely. His foot throbbed not agreeing with being stomped on so aggressively. Times like these, Percival was glad Opeila was sensible and had worn flats instead of the heels many girls favored. The boy wasn't so sure he wanted to know how much the throbbing in his foot would be amplified by a pointy shoe.
"What. . .?" he asked following where he had heard the glass shattering. The boy's brows furrowed his drawing into a frown. The boy would flick out his wand from his wand holster glad he had brought it. He wasn't so sure he would actually need it, but it was better to be prepared then anything. "I guess if you want to, but let's stay together." he said moving forward.

As Maximilien de Fostoncy | owl for interactions English | French | Outfit “No, Maxi would be great.” he muttered, smiling gently at Elise. “Let’s have a dance together, then?”
He was almost grateful to hold such a beautiful angel’s hands and twirling in the ballroom with her. Thank Merlin, he was here, extremely well. Indeed, he was not a stranger to dancing, since he had been at balls at about only eight years old, which, was the only thing that he was much better than the Springhall kids — except Enjolras, the other three danced terribly. Though his ball partner had never been so charming, so fascinating, so —
BANG!
What’s that? A…a monster? No one had told him Hogwarts was dangerous for young people to stay in. They said Hogwarts was a great place, one of the best, or just the best magical school. But no. It wasn’t true. Things were happening just so fast. Edmund and Lindsey told him nothing. They should be hexed when he met them again.
Elise grabbed his hand tightly, and he hold it back. No. We wouldn’t die. We wouldn’t…
“I don’t really know…” apologetically he answered. “Hogwarts is believed a safe place. But…”
He couldn’t say more. He felt that he was losing the game. The time was passing, and he could do nothing — this was England. Not his hometown, and he was not familiar with it at all. If he was in the castle of Beauxbatons, he would go after the ghost — who seemed suspicious. But now, as he’s just a foreigner, he had to be prudent. He had to protect himself. And especially, Elise.
His heart ached. What if he failed to protect her? He wouldn’t really care if himself’s hurt or not, as only Monsieur le Comte and Monsieur le Chevalier would care about that. Though Madame…
Another heart ache. Whenever he thought of his dear though distant mother, it would be like this. He wished to spend more time with her when he was still young, and every time, he failed.
“Together. Yes.” he didn’t answer Elise’s question straightly, although he hold her hand tighter. “We should be together…forever tonight. If we are parted somehow…and you feel scared, call my name, then I’d be there, okay?”
It’s a promise. He gazed into the beautiful eyes of the blonde, and slightly, smiled. Her hands were still in his, and he didn’t let them go — maybe they’d be just like this until she took them back from his own.
He saw students hurrying out the ballroom. They seemed scared…no, wait. They were perfectly excited.
“Foolish Englishman.” he murmured in perfect English. Then he got back to his calm self, and glanced over the ballroom. He had to investigate it…suspiciously, he gazed towards the window where the ghost broke in.

Rose walked into the ballroom just as the ghost crashed through the window. She tensed- even though she was on the other side of the room, that shattering sound was chilling. But... if the guy broke the window, why wasn't it- broken? Well, obviously he was a ghost. But all the glass that had gone rushing toward the floor- wasn't real. Rose thought ghosts were cool, but she never really considered that that was something that would happen. And the riddle... It was more than a riddle, it was a warning, urging the students to help. Many did. Many didn't. Rose hesitated. What was she supposed to do? Follow him? Possibly get in the way? Stay here and possibly ruin the entire thing while other people saved the school? And what was his full name? She had a feeling it had a p somewhere in it, but she had never heard of this guy, so how was she supposed to know his full name?
Eyre.
He was going to go try and save the school, wasn't he? Of course he was. But he was still there, next to Anastasia Beckett... What if-
No, definitely not. Eyre had romantic eyes only for Rose, and of all people, definitely not Anastasia Beckett.
Right?

@Elisabeth Erner
Gregorí smiled at Elisabeth upon listening to her decision. He was right: she always concerned about everyone else, putting them before herself. He knew right there and then that she was one of the kindest people he had ever known.
The Mexican boy did not know how much she liked puzzles and riddles, nor did he know whether she enjoyed solving them more than dancing or vice versa. But in any case, he could see very clearly that she had thought about him and his interest, and thus making a decision based on that. Speaking about which: she was correct, he would much prefer to crack puzzles than to dance. Gregorí had no offense whatsoever against dancing (or those who enjoy doing or watching it, of course), but somehow he could not truly see its beauty. The Horned Serpent student did not find anything aesthetically pleasing in watching the dancers moved, but then again, it was all purely a matter of taste. No one was wrong and nobody was right when it came to taste.
Either way, he said to Elisabeth in Spanish, "Then let's follow the cat. It's almost gone." Before they left though, he smiled at the younger student reassuringly and gently told her in their mother tongue, "If later you decide that you don't like this, we can always leave, OK? Please promise you'd tell me anytime you feel uncomfortable."
