NO! No no no no no no no! It is wonderful to think of them as a friend! You need that in the first place really, in my opinion before you can go farther!
Then again, i'm demisexual so i'm biased

I would think it would be better because they know you, right?

You’re not exactly biased since you’re Demisexual. Id say it’s a good thing to think of them as a friend first because that were most good relationships start off as since you need to get to each other more. In my personal expirience it took me quite a long time to get to know a girl and then things went up from there but of course things went down quite terribly. But don’t let that take you down! It sounds like you’re doing quite fine.

Also I might go to a GSA prom! Yay! And my ‘date’ is this other dude who’s asexual, I’m trying to remember who asked who but whatever. Were only going together as friends. (But first I gotta come up with big fat juicy good lies in order for my parents to let me go)

problem 101:

I was very close to coming out to my mother today. She... She was actually ok with the whole "my daughter might be lesbian" thing. (she'd suspected a crush). However, she thinks people my age shouldn't date. She's been saying that I shouldn't date until late high school.she says if I come out as LGBT then she will be fine but she might be concerned before... There goes that idea.
