So, if anyone cares, I had an argument with this one kid yesterday. Here's my response to him asking why I don't stand for the flag:

Imma get you later. In my opinion, the flag salute is kind of a weird pledge of your soul. At first when it was written, it had some really racist stuff, and it's (in my opinion) Like saying our country is the best and we only care about it. I just don't think that. So who cares If I don't stand for the flag. Has nothing to do with religion. You think just because I'm christian it means I don't want to put my hand over my heart and become some saluting drone? You can say whatever you want. You can do whatever you want. I just personally think taking an extra 4 minutes of my life away from "hailing hitler" to a flag, is a waste. And also, who said I didn't care about the work people put into saving our country. No one did. I think history is fascinating. And the things our founding fathers did, Alexander Hamilton, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Those people, INSPIRE ME! I think they're awesome, smart, and incredible. The fighting people did for our country, the saving lives of people who could have been KILLED from bombings, and Slavery, and Fighting and War, it is important, but we need to put our hand over our hearts and take an extra four minutes to say "I pledge alligence to the flag"? Take some time to research the crap you say and think to others, Lova Piestrup.
