The Masquerade Ball
Reducio
Elizabeth walked into the ballroom feeling nerves of her first date with Aaron. She wondered if the outfit she picked was pretty enough or even the fancy mask she picked. Her necklace and earrings were descended by her mom and her mom before that. It was always a tradition to wear them on first dates. She took a couple deep breaths and went over to the drink bar. She had heard that when you drank it, it would be your favorite flavor of drink. She picked up a cup and took a tiny sip. “Butter beer” she mumbled out loud. That was her favorite drink and although it didn’t look like butter beer it sure did taste like it. She went to the bathroom to see if her hair was still curled and it was. She admired her beautiful dress and mask. It was dark blue and silver. No one would ever recognize her in this mask or outfit since she usually doesn’t dress up very often. Her makeup was still perfectly placed and her eyes shone brightly through her mask. Her shoes were also blue and silver which she loved. They were surprising comfortable to wear even though they were fancy heels. Elizabeth stepped outside the bathroom and waited for Aaron to find his way over here.@Aaron Flynn

Apologies for how short his post is guys! I still made the 200 but I've been lacking on details...if I missed out on anyone please let me know I'll edit it!Interacting: @ Griseldis Edelhardt
One moment the Ravenclaw boy was being tugged along by his friend Griseldis, the next moment he found himself losing his group, watching her get lost in the crowd to assist and stop a fight breaking out. Getting himself lost in the crowd the sea of people observing the ensuing chaos not sure what to do as Alan watched jumping to see over the heads of a few taller guests. Seeing Griseldis getting the student into a chokehold was quite amusing as this is the first he's witnessing her martial arts skills. Waiting for the matter to resolve completely Alan walked over to Gris with a nervous smile across his face as he said with a bit of excitement in his tone "That was amazing what you did there...where did you learn to do that?" realising he had let himself go the young lad coughed and said as calm as he could slightly red-faced after having lost a bit of his composure "I...I mean are you ok? d...did they hurt you?" Alan's dress robes were a tad out of place due to weaving and jumping to get a good look at all the action. "M...Maybe we should enjoy the rest of the night nows..s...shall we Gris?" As a simple gesture he held up his arm offering his friend to slip her arm through and grab on "Umm...D...Dad always told me to try this...h...heh so w...want to walk like this?" he finished nervously

The boy doth protest too much, Dymphna thought as she watched the two struggle their way through why they were together at the ball. She noted that her dorm mate looked annoyed. Perhaps she would ask about it later. Max wasn’t someone she knew very well at all, but the way he was going on about it made it even more obvious to her that something was going on from his end of things. If it wasn’t, he certainly wanted it to be. A crush? Definitely.
“It must be nice to have such a good friend to go with. I don’t mind going alone as long as I can meet up with you all.” No one asked her but with the way people were reacting to her lately, it was more of a blessing, really. Fortunately, Oliver entered the room but didn’t notice her yet.
Max would be an idiot to not have a crush on someone as intelligent and poised as Phaedra. The blonde didn’t know their history, their families knowing one another. She wasn’t about to play matchmaker but the least she could do was be honest with her friend about her point of view of the situation. Later, in the safety of their dorm room when everyone else was asleep.
The chaos seemed to die down but the music was still just as loud. Dymphna’s eyes trailed around the room as she munched on more macarons. There was a jumble of people closer to the music that were doing a dance of some kind, mainly jumping around but it looked fun. Her friends [REID, ADAM, SERENA] made up the majority but there were a few unfamiliar faces as well.
Dymphna strained to hear Phaedra as she talked, finishing off her plate and wiping the crumbs from her mouth. “It’s Rosie,” she confirmed. It wasn’t that hard to hide who certain people were behind masks, especially people they knew well. “She made her own mask, did you know?” It wasn’t said in a mocking way. Dymph was impressed with her creative abilities, something she lacked despite being a Ravenclaw.
She scanned the room for her cousins. Hjørdis must have left to deal with the situation and if Elaine had been there at all, she must have been lurking in the shadows. Not for the first time, she wondered about the aloof Elaine. While Hjørdis was mysterious and secretive about her previous Ministry work, Dymphna only knew what her family told her about Elaine’s past. Where was her daughter now? Certainly not at Hogwarts. Already left school? There were questions left unanswered which only made her curiosity rise.
Now wasn’t the time or place for serious discussion. However, they both came from Pureblood lineage and she heard a little about them from her granny Eithne every once in a while. Her family had its secrets. Surely, theres did too. Dymphna leaned in closer to them to whisper (as quietly as one could with the music as loud as it was). “Do your families have grimoires? I’m looking for information.” After a pause, she added, “I’d go through ours but they hid it away.” It wasn’t about Elaine anymore. Her mute grandfather was on her mind.

"Cheers!" she replied as she raised her glass to hit his. Her eyebrows raised when Jorah explained that he tasted chocolate, when that seemed to be totally absent in hers. "Irn Brew," she said while swirling the concoction in her mouth to be sure, "and, em, Gillywater." It was a rather odd combination, but it was actually pretty good. She wondered if the punch had simply mixed together two of her favorite things--one muggle and one magical like the very blood that ran through her veins.
Jorah seemed eager as he picked up a plate and food. Knowing how much he could eat, she helped him by adding on extra items, particularly the butterbeer cupcakes and cauldron cakes. They had gotten savory items as well--Ruthie was eying the asparagus wrapped in bacon--but her favorite was easily the sweets. After all, they were not readily available at meals. While she looked forward to her mum's homemade tablet or a tiffin cake, that was a different experience from these dessert treats.
"Sounds good," she said as she followed Jorah to a table. She was about to pick up a cauldron cake when Jorah reached over and placed a flower in her hair, behind her mask. Smiling lightly, she admired the gesture. Maybe he was coming around to the fact that this had, in fact, been a good idea. With her left hand, she reached up to ensure it was tucked in securely. It was. Jorah had good accuracy with a bludger, why should flowers be any different? "You don't need to get me anything," she replied, cognizant that corsages were something the older students did, "It's enough that you're here." Those were true words. He'd accepted in such a lackadaisical way, it was wonderfully surprising that he'd been here and so kind. In fact, it seemed like he'd almost put in too much effort with the way that suit looked. In fact, as he complimented her, she blushed slightly and felt she ought to return the favor: "That's a beautiful suit and you look wonderful in it." Mentally, she cringed for a moment. This was terrible. He did look wonderful, but all this language of compliments and appearance were so foreign to her and she didn't like it very much.
So she was extremely grateful when he changed the conversation to Quidditch, something she understood--something she loved. "I think Emma said Slytherin," she answered, biting her lip slightly. "I heard they have a strong team and one really terrifying beater." Ruthie was optimistic for the next match, especially having beaten Gryffindor earlier in the term, but she wasn't an idealist. She was much more practical and conservative. "You'll have to look out for Neculai and everyone really," she said picking up that cauldron cake and biting into it. "Have some. These are really good," she said, nudging the plate closer to her friend.
Meanwhile, around them seemed to a flurry of students not without some drama. Thankfully, Ruthie knew few people to really want to intervene in anything. She did noticed several calls for professors but didn't think anything of it. Maybe someone was sick, having consuming too many cauldron cakes. Or maybe a serious fight had broken out in the courtyard. In fact, she thought she heard something that sounded like a punch or maybe a chokehold. "Did you hear that?" she asked Jorah. Hopefully, there wouldn't be too much trouble at a simple school ball. After all, it was just meant to be fun, wasn't it?

Irn Brew and Gillywater, Irn Brew and Gillywater, Jorah repeated in his head, he didn't want to forget what Ruthie's favorite drinks were. Wait a second, does that mean she'll sprout Gills and webbing later tonight? Jorah looked at her neckline, nothing yet...she looks beautiful. Stop staring! He took in his surroundings. Everyone else was dressed to the nines with some exceptions, notably a student wearing a paper mask and couple in rotund pumpkin costumes. Ruthie complimented Jorah's attire. "Thanks," he said nervously tugging at his sleeves, "I think its too much honestly, but my parent's thought otherwise. I wish they would have saved their money and bought me a broom instead."
The subject was thankfully changed to Quidditch. While listening to Ruthie tell him Slytherin was their next opponent, he noticed Ruthie bite her lip. A nervous tick perhaps? It was cute. "Yeah, I think her name is Erin. I hear shes OP, but I think Emma can take her. I'll do my best to protect you guys." Jorah felt the left side of his chest. His entire left side had been marked by a black and blue bruise from where the bludger impacted him, but over the days since the match it had faded to various shades a green. Atleast it didn't hurt anymore.
Ruthie nudged the plate of snacks closer. Jorah reached over to grab a cauldron cake, accidentally brushing his hand against Ruthie's. "Sorry," he said stuffing the cake into his mouth and washing it down with his chocolaty drink. "Did you hear that?," asked Ruthie. It was hard to hear much of anything other than his companion over the Heavy Metal music. Jorah looked around to see two crowds of students attracting the attention of the professors. "Hmm, maybe they tried to start a mosh pit that got out of control. What kind of person starts a fight at a dance?" Jorah eyed a clearing on the dance floor away from the commotion. He turned to Ruthie. "So uh, do you want to dance? We could jump around and practice our head banging. Something tells me that with all this hair, he picked up one of her golden locks, you'll be pretty good at it, but don't lose your flowers, do you know how hard it was for me to find those? It's not like I can just pick them up on a whim, ha."

The Masquerade Ball
Played as Simon BelangerReducio@Alexx Séverin@Solomon Lear
Following Alexx's finger, Simon grinned at the kind-looking old man the blonde was pointing out. Oh yeah, definite potential for that guy - he didn't have the grumpy look of someone who would jump straight up your ass for pulling off a prank. A new guy and yeah, okay, maybe Simon was new to this whole school as well but that didn't matter was a fan-freaking-tastic target in a school this size. They could melt away into the crowd afterwards and the potions professor wouldn't be able to figure out who had done it since he might not know every face. They could even pass it off on some other student if they were clever enough.
The stunning young woman beside him pointed out two more targets, and Simon's grin grew into a wolfish one. Three professors, one of them the head of an entire house. Hell yeah, they were worthy of a massive prank and he had no qualms about pulling one off. He might've suggested something borderlining actual insanity had a large fight not broken out and taken all three of the men out of the room and off the proverbial game board. Goddamn! Why did people always have to fight? There were cleaner ways of messing with people that didn't involve blood and gore.
Sighing, he helplessly shook his head at Alexx before another idea popped into his head. This one was so incredibly stupid it would make one question whether or not he'd been dropped on his head as a baby. "Truth be told, I am chicken shit," he said easily, winking before remembering his eyes were hidden behind shades. Well, anyways. "You can't get me on that manly pride psychology. I have no pride. I'm not that smart, I'm scared of everything, and my sense of fashion is negative seven hundred. But..." He clicked his tongue approvingly before levelling a definitive finger at none other than Solomon Lear. "I say we go after the big guy."
As unobservant as he was, he hadn't noticed the Headmaster nearly coming over to end his whole career. If he had, he probably would've run out of the Ball yelping at the top of his lungs because a huge man in a suit of armour trying to tell you off was the equivalent of Jason Voorhees chasing you down with a chainsaw taped onto a hockey stick. Not cool, not cool at all.
"That leather and metal is just begging to have something done to it," Simon continued mischievously, oblivious to life and his likely small amount of it left. "I was considering coming up with something involving all the houses, so I brought some paint." Digging into his pockets, he pulled out four bottles that each represented a Hogwarts house colour. After a minute of deliberation, he selected the red since it seemed eye-catching and would stand out against the dark armour. "How about this... you get the old geezer's attention somehow and keep him focused on you. I'll sneak up behind him and write 'Kick me' on his armour. Then we'll spread the word that he's holding a contest to see if anyone can break his armour with a kick. The first student who tries... betcha he'll facebuster them."
"There’s something brittle in me that will break before it bends."

The Masquerade Ball
The world began to stop spinning and Kyle shook his head as he began to piece the situation together now that his mind was a little less foggy. The Ginger kid had pulled a complete 180 and went from being a raging out mountain of a child and was blubbering and leading his own pity party. Well that was...unexpected? He saw Cakes trying to comfort the Ginger before wandering off as he noticed the blonde girl talking about leaving to go get medical attention herself. He felt a moment of success as he managed to free the girl from the Large ginger and while he wasn't the one who made him give up, Kyle did participate so. That had to be something? right?Interacting with: @Santario Martin
Then he realized the person that had tackled him was still ontop of him, and the waft of vanilla and almond sharpened his senses and made him hyper alert as he realized it was Santario that had tackled him, and he could hear the pain in her voice as he moved out from under her and he quickly helped her to her feet, noticing the look of her arm which was probably broken. "oh no muppet...I am so sorry! Let me get you to the nurse, youll be right as rain I swear" he no longer cared about the chaos of the situation that transpired just moments earlier and was just focused on his friend as he attempted to help her out of the ball room and towards the Nurse, assuming she let him.

Santario gasped with pain when Kyle got off of her broken arm and helped her up. It was most certainly broken. She looked back at Quinn wanting to reach out to him feeling the pain he must have felt. “Q-Quinn it’s okay… Just go take care of yourself.” Her voice hitched from the pain as tears continued to flow from her eyes. She had never broken a bone before, and this was the worst pain she had ever felt. Kyle said something about leaving and she nodded looking over at Gris forcing a small smile and waving her off with her good hand. “I’ll be okay Gris.”Interacting with | @Kyle DeRook @Quinn Healy @Griseldis Edelhardt
She at this point allowed Kyle to lead her away leaving her red and black heals on the floor forgotten. He needed to get his head looked at, again, and she needed to get her arm mended. Something that would probably keep her in the infirmary for at least the rest of the night if not a bit into the next day as well. No doubt the nurse would wrap her arm, give her some skele-grow, and something to help her sleep while her arm knitted itself back together. She made a mental note to and remember to owl Quinn for a meet up after all of these things had calmed down so that they could talk about what happened. If any of this had to deal with what she had experienced the first time she had met him she felt like they should sit down and have a nice long conversation.

Angela had heard about the ball that was being held and decided to go knowing she was mostly going to get good references. She went to her dorm room and put on a dark blue dress that went down to her knees; she wore a set of matching heels too, she then braided two locks of hair and braided them together so it looked like a crown. She took one last look at herself and grabbed her quill and her notebook, and her black and blue mask, then headed off towards the ball.
When she got there she looked around at the amazing work that was put into it, she watched as everyone danced and laughed but she just sat down on a chair and started to draw, her mind wandered a bit but it helped her make improvements when she was trying to fix the mistakes she made. Angela looked up and saw a painting that was dancing, it waved at her and she waved back with an awkward smile, "This is SO cool!" she thought and put a smile on her face as she went back to drawing a girl with an elegant purple and blue gown. She hummed a song as she drew and occasionally tapped her fingers against the seam of her book thinking that this was truly amazing,

The Masquerade Ball

@George Henry @Mari Haynes @Nico Shymane
Hugh's attention was drawn by a call for his name. His head turned to meet Marie? Mary? Marla, no that was a Gryffindor he noticed somewhere in the castle. Mari. Her name was Mari. A Huffle from his year. They had never spoken before, or at least he couldn't remember their interaction. He noticed a boy next to her, equal in height he'd say, at the very least both smaller than him. With a large frown on his face he nodded over to them, signaling he noticed them. His eyes fell on the boy that Mari was asking to dance for. What was he? Some circus ape for show? "Ye want to jink twinkletoes?" His already deep voice rolled out in Scottish tongue. "How about you take miss pumpkin over here and give her a nice evenin'?"
Then he met a familiar face to him. For the first time this evening a genuine smile appeared on his face. "Sharkie, fancy meeting you here." His smile faded slightly as he noticed she was seemingly hiding behind his large figure. It wasn't anything particularly new. He knew Nico as a shy girl and he was more than often used as an obstacle between two people. He quirked his eyebrow and looked across the room. "What's up lassie? Trouble?" He wiggled his nose and scratched his sideburns. Seemed like trouble never far off.
