FAQ — Questions
Kim, I’m not sure the specifics of it but I had the same thing happen in the past. I now try to collect my scholarship and vote at the same time every day and that seems to work

Madi McQuade wrote: 11 Sep 2023, 03:45 Since Madi's muggle-born, is there a way she could have know about Harry Potter before coming to Hogwarts? Like from a book or something?
Nope, there are no muggle books on magical history. The only way would be having been told about him by a wizard.
K, thank you
Not quite what you're asking, but I have a solution!

If Madi happened to be in a particular movie theater in London on the second of August 2022, she might have witnessed a weird boy in the corridor mention making a moving picture about Harry Potter to his mate (Monica Evans).

Obviously none of the muggles around the pair would understand the reference, and would dismiss the incident as two kids having fun on a summer day. Of course, Madi, if she were there, would have no idea what the two older kids were talking about either, only that they were acting weird! Probably some made up game they're playing!

If she had been there, she might just get a bit of a shock a year or so later when she reads the name "Harry Potter" in her history of magic text or in Hogwarts: A History! She might be thinking: that can't possibly be the same! There must be muggles named Harry Potter too, right? Then perhaps she'd get another shock when she sees those same two kids at this crazy school of magic Madi's landed herself in!

OOC: While you really couldn't join the thread, you could write a diary post where you mention the event; you could mention seeing Colin (and probably Monica too) at your Ravenclaw Table thread; you could also write a back dated post about a day in the muggle life of Madi that mentions this strange occurrence. A curious brush with magic!

Keep your mind in hell; and don't despair.

FAQ — Questions
Regarding the Remembrall, it's odd that you got three if you voted 7 days in a row, but Ruby also has a point about voting every 23 hours. And Opeila, Simon, and Kim are right about voting through your remembrall.

AFIK you get a total of 5 HP per week, not 7. You only get your house points if you vote a certain amount of times apart. You only get the points if you vote from the remberall.

FAQ — Questions
Yeah, ever since I first joined back in Feb '22 I've consistently always gotten 5hp every week for voting every day for 7 days straight. This is the first time I've never gotten full credit, which is why I'm just surprised to see that...

FAQ — Questions
I've had that sort of thing happen to me sometimes (not frequently enough for me to lose a ranking or miss out on prizes if Gryffindor wins), but it has happened even when I vote all seven days I'll sometimes get only 3 HP and not 5 HP.

I never understood why it was that it happened, but maybe it does have something to do with a 23 hour cycle or something strange. Basically I'm just saying that your experience is not an out-of-the-ordinary one, Kim.

I've just chalked it up to bad luck and the system having a brain fart and then move on with my day and hope that I can eventually get back to a house point total that is divisible by 5 again in some way, shape, or form.

FAQ — Questions
Yeah I'm not too concerned when it's not a close race but if it's a close race and it's near the end of the month and a 2 point difference can make my House win, I'd be mad because technically I should have gotten those 2 points and if me NOT getting those 2 points that I should have gotten makes my House lose in the end... well... I'll be mad for awhile lol
