I looked at your trunk and you seem like a normal human as nothing is listed under your abilities. So since you are a second year, yes you can apply for 2 abilities now. OOC, yes you would have acquired both in your second year. You only get to choose 1 ability per year though. But since you didn't apply for your Y1 ability yet, you can now apply for both abilities now. If you mean IC-wise, I think you'd get the abilities whenever they would most make sense. Like some assume you've always had these abilities (such as Calming Presence, Terrible Presence etc...) and others could have IC been developed over time. I don't think it matters IC when you got them. Only OOC (as in writing the application to get them) matters. Wandmaker would be one of the few where you'd probably use it later on in your life as it requires you to break your wand to obtain a new one. So it wouldn't make sense if you used it earlier in your life. But most abilities, essentially if you read them, you can figure out what would make the most sense IC for it to have happened. Also any issues that might arise will be told to you from whoever is reviewing your application too!

No, I think she's referring to the fact that she didn't apply for a Y1 ability and wanted to know if she could apply for both abilities in her 2nd year now since she has 0 atm.

Since your character is currently a 2nd year without any ability, yes you can apply for two.
But when making the story in the application, at least one of them should set before or during your character's first year. You can't 'save up' an ability 'to be taken later IC'.

I’m applying for the index and I’ve come across two problems in my trunk post.
1. I only joined two days ago, so I don’t have any spells or potions, yet it says the list them. Do I just put none?
2. I’m confused on the abilities aspect- do I just think of a few things Luke would be good at and write them down or is there a more specific way to go about it?

For 1 - it’s fine you don’t have any yet you can just leave that part blank for now and whenever you acquire new spells and potions there is a form you can fill out to have them added to your trunk.
Regarding 2: there is a system where your character can have special abilities. here is a thread that explains the special abilities and races in depth. Hopefully this answers most of your questions.

It’s completely fine to put none for spells/potions or leave it blank. You will ‘learn’ those from doing completing homework, which will unlock for you after 10 days on the site and once you are officially registered in the index. This is optional, not a requirement, although it is pretty fun and earns ‘house points’ which can get you some rewards if you have enough of them. Once you graduate from 1st to 2nd year, you will automatically have learned all of the first year spells and can add them to your trunk.The site has a set list of abilities w/ descriptions for students to choose from. There is a separate application thread with a word count (depending on the ability) that staff will look over before approving. Human students get 1 ability per year, although there are special half-races that you can choose to apply for as well (but please note that after 1 month from joining the site, you can only be a human so there is a time limit on that— but you can apply for a regular ability at any time during the year.)
