Tina held the fan over the lower half of her face (or rather, paper bag mask), spread open just like Hanako had done before, albeit more clumsily. Her eyes scanned the room as far as they could - it was quite hard when her vision was so narrowly tunnelled - and she slinked in between people, weaving through the crowds at an alarming pace. It was shocking how agile she could be, even with her rotund moon costume grazing the backs of dancers as she went. Hanako seemed to think so too, as he was struggling to keep up with her, calling out as he went.

Slow down, he'd said. Like hell, she thought, especially now that he'd called her Mary. Did she look like a Mary? No. If this was something he'd done on purpose as a means of aggravating the Hufflepuff, she didn't realise, letting out a huff of frustration at his incompetence. Not only was he annoying, but he was useless too. These wicked thoughts weren't typical of a girl like Tina, but tonight they were growing increasingly common. Usually, she would have been delighted at the prospect of being in a place like this, with a boy who was her 'date', at least on paper, but right now it seemed as though she'd picked the worst bachelor possible. Moreover, she just wasn't in the mood. The mission was make Starlee miserable, not have a good time.

When Hanako started suggesting other 'pranks', Tina couldn't hold back anymore. She stopped dead in her tracks, most likely allowing the boy to nearly run into her as she did so with the momentum they'd built whilst walking. She whipped around, moon costume thwacking the backs as she did so, staring up at him with a gobsmacked expression. Clearly, he was losing his mind.

"Trip her up? Spill her drink?" Tina repeated, her passion mounting with every word. He was deranged. "Are you out of your mind?" She put major emphasis on a lot of words here, just as she'd learned to in previous drama lessons at school. Tina was quite the melodramatic, that much was obvious. She shook her head like a disappointed mother. "That's just mean. Also! My name isn't Mary. Mar-tee-nah! It's not that hard." He didn't get the privilege of calling her by her nickname, that was for sure.

This was not going her way. Just when all hope was beginning to seem lost, and Tina was just about ready to abandon this idea, and by extension, this fish boy, altogether, her eyes landed on gold.

There was Starlee, sat all alone at one of the various tables scattered about the room. Whilst her name-sake of a dress may have caught the ballroom's lighting in a way that could only be described as beautiful, and her shoes glittered like the stars, Tina could tell from a distance that she wasn't happy. Not at all. Her neck glowed brightly under the translucent silky collar she wore, and her head was slammed down onto the table. A pang of guilt hit the Hufflepuff's chest when she realised that her friend might be crying, but she shook it off. Now was not the time for feelings. Now was the time for revenge.

"That's her. Come on," Tina hissed, pointing to Starlee and ushering Hanako over to where she was seated at the table. She quickened her pace as she approached, not allowing her heart a chance to insist that she stop and think. Her glittery boots clapped against the ballroom floor, their taps filled with energy, signalling her arrival. She came to a stop.

Poke poke.

Checking over her shoulder to make sure Hanako was behind her, Tina prodded Starlee's shoulder a couple times, until her hands came to rest on her hips, craving in her moon outfit at the sides. She didn't smile. Instead, her face was one of sheer determination.

"Hi Starlee. How'd your night going?" This was a rhetorical question. Tina didn't wait for an answer, instead continuing to speak in a voice that sounded... more collected, than usual. "I got bored of the Costume Party and decided to check out the mask-thingie instead. Pretty nice isn't it?" She glanced around the room, nodding as though she was taking it in for the first time. Then, she turned back to where the girl was sitting, sticking a thumb over her shoulder to indicated to Hanako, wherever he may be in relation to her. "Anyway, this is my date! We decided to go together just before the ball. His name is..."

Oh. She didn't know his name. This was going to be a problem. Tina turned around, hoping that Hanako might jump in and save her at this point. As she did so, however, her eyes caught sight of another girl, dressed in the signature colour of her house, amongst the swarms of dancers. In a small group of well-dressed ladies stood Elizabeth Isaacs, the Queen of Slytherin (in Tina's mind).

Oh no.

All she could do was turn to Hanako and desperately wait for him to interject, ignoring Liz.

The time danced forward. Masks hiding the finer details of each person’s expression, giving a sense that anyone could be hiding their true intentions. For some it was a sanctuary, for others it was a barrier. Regardless, every ball has to break out in some fights, though for the first few hours of the ball, it seemed to remain in the realm of personal quarrels. Name-calling, tripping on purpose, pranks with loud scary noises, and… well, a brawl.

@Erin Ryan had long held a deeply flawed understanding of the darkness lurking in and around Hogwarts. Namely, she was certain that the reigning champion, the Hufflepuff Qudditch captain @Quinn Healy, was a menace, and a child killer! How could anyone that believes such a thing stand idly by while he enjoys the pleasant company of so many refined young women? Erin was refined too, REFINED MUSCLE, and she had trained for this moment all summer.
Roll for a casting punch at Quinn [AUTO-HIT]
Damage: 27*15 = 405 - 81 (20% damage reduction) = 324
Quinn's health: 1076/1400

Quinn wouldn't budge as Erin threw her knuckles out at his jaw like a rock-em sock-em robot. A formidable hit, absorbed by unnaturally tough skin. While he took the hit intentionally, perhaps to prove a point, the lovely ladies beside him couldn't just watch it all happen and do nothing.
Santario casts the Tickling Charm on Erin [WDC 9]
San's cast: 1d20[2] + 8 = 10 (success)
Erin's Evasive Maneuvers: 1d10[7] (failure)
Erin's Alluring: 1d10[10] (success)
New target: Kyle DeRook (rolled 1d6 for those nearby)
San's aim: 1d20[3] + 8 = 11 (success)
Kyle’s evasion: 1d20[2] + 4 = 6 (failure)
Damage: 50 + (9*10) = 140
Effect: The target suffers –2 Accuracy and losing 25 HP per round.
Duration: 1d6[4] 2 rounds
Kyle's health: 860/1000
Nico casts the Knockback Jinx on Erin [WDC 9]
Nico's cast: 1d20[15] + 6 = 21 (success)
Erin's Evasive Maneuvers: 1d10[1] (failure)
Erin's Alluring: 1d10[2] (failure)
Nico's aim: 1d20[20] + 8 = 28(success)
Erin’s evasion: 1d20[6] + 10 = 16 (failure)
Damage: 100 + (2*10) = 120
Erin's health: 680/800
Quinn grapples Erin
Erin's Evasive Maneuvers: 1d10[9] (failure)
Erin's Alluring: 1d10[1] (failure)
Quinn's aim: 1d20[9] + 7 = 16 (failure)
Erin’s evasion: 1d20[7] + 10 = 17 (success)

Well that was a mess. Santario tried to subdue the part-Veela with a nearly harmless tickling fit, but found herself unable to point a wand at someone so intensely alluring. She was lucky that her strange instincts directed it at her date @Kyle DeRook instead, rather than an innocent bystander (though Kyle was of course arguably still an innocent bystander at this point). He had no reason to think he would be targeted, and was suddenly beset by a tickling feeling all over his body, and would for a while so long as no one rescued him. Poor pup.

Nico was not even half as charmed, the aim of her wand as true as cupid’s arrow, protecting her man. Erin would fly off the chair and tumble away, though for as sturdy as she was, it was really only a minor setback. Quinn would try to put an end to this pointless fighting by using his insane strength to pin her down. Unfortunately for him, he would have to catch her first. Years of paranoia had made her light on her feet, and not even a knockback would make her unprepared to dodge those shovel hands.

@Xailah Alptraum noticed some kind of familiar smell, however faint, and thought her investigation of the ball would benefit from seeking out the smell of roses.
Roll to detect the scent of roses [WIS]
DC 20 (hard)
1d20[16] + 10 = 26(success)

As many of the children had thought to bring flowers to their dates like it was a prom, the room wasn't exactly devoid of floral smells. In fact, one @Marion Davenport had some tantalizing rose oil on her hands as well. Sadly, no matter how distinct the smell of roses was, Xailah could only sit back and enjoy it idly. It certainly existed, and she was right that there was something intimately familiar about it. Perhaps a memory might be sparked in this recognition, but in order to track down the specific sources in such a cesspool of smells, she would need to be a werewolf, or use some magic.

Her eternal companion however, was currently nowhere near her. It's focus had been transfixed on the object of Xailah's brief diversion... @Meenauh Silmataurea. So, what was so special about this girl, that would make the gothic goddess give her so much adoring attention? What does she have that it does not?! Why would Xailah talk to a n y o n e when she already has the undivided attention of such a devoted admirer?

Tiny hands would grab Meenauh's pant and swiftly jerk her leg out from under her.
Roll to see if Meenauh can keep her footing [EVA]
DC 20 (hard)
1d20[16] + 7 = 23 (success)

Meenauh was difficult to catch off-guard, which the creeping creep would learn the hard way. The yank should have had her face planting on the unforgiving stone floor, but she reacted immediately, repositioning as to not lose her balance. Because of her quick reflexes, she had the opportunity to spy the culprit.
Impromptu Hide-and-Seek
Meenauh's seek: 1d20[19] + 15 = 34 (success)
Admirer's hide: 1d20[19] + 10 = 29 (failure)

The Gryffindor prefect had perfected the art of catching people in the act, and she would spot an inert, motionless doll on the floor in-between the many shuffling feet of the busy dance floor. It would look like a normal, featureless doll that a wayward student dropped. The act would likely trick any of the hundreds of students gathered in the ballroom, but Meenauh was not just anybody. Perhaps the competition for love was more than the admirer had bargained for.

The wayward projectile thrown at @Breana Oliveire had failed to capture her attention, though. As it stood, her pursuer was interested in a few things, such as its lack of Breana-brand merch.
Roll to steal Breana's cloak [STR vs EVA]
Pursuer: 1d20[4] + 10 = 14
Breana: 1d20[6] + 5 = 11
(Breana has her cloak yanked off)
Does she fall? 1- yes, 2 - no
1d2 [1] splat for a flat 25 damage
Breana’s health: 525/600

Such a nice, pretty cloak. So cool. Finally, it belonged to the real one. Breana was yanked over, no one in the room having seen the flapping blue of her detachable clothing disappearing under a nearby table.

Alexander Ward (@Lydia Cooper) was too cool to dance. As he had taken the many warnings to be cautious of Hogwarts balls seriously, he scanned the area for anything unusual instead of looking for a date. He wasn't the only one, as @Zykeal Lane peered suspiciously around as well, able to tear his eyes away from Dealla for a brief moment, and @Anastasia Beckett was looking around too, in hopes that the perfect distraction would save her from having to face up to her less-than-appropriate behavior.
Roll to see anything suspicious [WIS]
DC 20 (hard)
Alexander 1d20[5] + 9 = 14 (failure)
Zykeal 1d20[13] + 8 = 21 (success)
Rolled 1d3[1] to see what he noticed - the doll attacking Meenauh
Anastasia 1d20[11] + 9 = 20 (success)
Rolled 1d3[3] to see what she noticed - Aida, nearly invisible, fleeing the ballroom

Alexander saw a bunch of people having fun while he sat around being paranoid. Zykeal swore he saw something tiny running through the crowd after his prefect nearly wiped out at the doors. Very strange. Anastasia would hear the sound of a horrifying, spooky scream, followed by some strange visible distortion and the occasional glimpse of running feet. If she knew what an invisibility cloak was, she would recognize its usage.

The slow music had its chance, it was time for something more fun and creepy for a while. Most of the attendees were completely unaffected by the quiet undercurrent of dread. This ball was a dream come true, one without chaos and fear. Hopefully nothing else happened...

OOC Note

From this round onward, I’m going to ask that no one else roll for minor actions while part of a moderated thread, previous instances have been checked and can be left as they are. Feel free to roll privately and describe the results if you want to introduce some element of chance to your actions.

To keep uniformity and clarity you should leave all rolls to the mod, so that they can be held responsible for the outcome and economy of action between players. If you’re wondering whether an idea you have needs a roll, feel free to message me.
[font=Monotype Corsiva]For your consideration[/font]
  • There will be a mod post every Friday, meaning the next mod will be on November 6th.
  • There are two parties going on simultaneously, the Masquerade in the Ballroom and the Costume Party in the Rehearsal Room. Both are on the fourth floor of Hogwarts, so travelling between the two does not take much time. For ease of moderation, please clearly denote when you are going from one to the other. During moderation, this takes a full action.
  • Because changing parties is considered an action, this means you can switch once a week, though that also means you won't be able to take another action until the next mod.
  • Actions besides changing parties are any attempt to do something to someone else such as attack, investigate, cast any spell, or generally anything that has a chance to fail depending on your stats. Minor interactions that are agreed upon between two players are free to take as much as you like. If you're unsure whether your intended plan involves an action, you can feel free to message me for clarification.

“I wanted to honor you; after all, you did ask a French girl to the dance when you probably had the pick of the litter at Durmstrang.” She giggled softly, wondering how he wouldn’t have. The smile that encompassed her face when he took her hand to lead her out onto the dance floor lit up her face brightening her hazel green eyes. She was shorter than him even with her heels on, but that didn’t bother Angel as she wrapped her arms around him.

She laughed softly at his comment on stepping on her foot. “I doubt you will step on my feet. You go to Durmstrang, so naturally, I am sure you are well versed in dancing.” She alluded to assuming he was pureblood, and she silently wondered what he would think about her being a half-blood. “I’m used to parties at my Grandparents. It’s usually mostly adults, and we are told with whom our primary socializing partner will be for the evening. Whether it be to impress for political things, or I don’t even really know what else. We tend to get bored really quickly, so we give our obligated dance or two, and then when the adults stop paying attention, satisfied, we usually slip into the kitchens and then out to the gardens. We usually just sit in the grass with our snacks and talk about anything that isn’t whatever our grandparents and parents were talking about.” She was starting to ramble just a little. “Though I think with you, I could enjoy just about any boring situation.” Long story short, the girl was indeed used to sneaking out of parties that bored her to death, and she was more used to the boys getting bored much faster than she did.

The odd shrill scream like noise made her look around, trying to find the sound source, but she saw nothing; it must have been a planned part of the party to attempt to try and freak out the people there. Though she was not so easily startled as she looked back at Milo and smiled before resting her head against his shoulder.

Kyle was slightly taken aback by the seeming lack of interest in him, or the ball but that had more to do with him being under the false impression they were actually here for the ball. Sure Erin talked a good game of wanting to come to the ball only to cause trouble, and feed whatever chaos happened and this and that but Kyle assumed that was mostly just that. Talk. A way to ask a boy to be her date to the ball and save face at the same by not seeming to care about all that dance stuff, or worse, romance stuff that came along with going to a ball together. Almost immediately after meeting up she told him to get people away from Quinn before he killed someone and he cocked an eyebrow behind his mask confused as to what exactly she was talking about and he walked after her trying to keep pace. "Starling, I dont thi-" before he could get his sentence out however she reeled back and punched at the same half giant he laid out the last time he came to a ball.

The half giant then went to grab the girl, and kyle rememebred the broken wrist from last time.

"alright you need to back off" he said firmly as he clenched his fists and strode forward to do something about it.

It was at that moment a spell went wide and caught him instead of the intended target. He felt invisible fingers tickling into him, or rather sharply jabbing him in the ribs and armpits over and over causing him to grit his teeth and squirm away from the painful jabbings into his flesh. No laughter would escape his lips as Kyle wasnt ticklish, but the discomfort and annoyance was clear as day on his face he tried futilely to squirm away from the incessant jabbing and prodding into his body like he was being painfully jabbed with sticks. He scanned around and saw a witch aiming a wand and knew thats where it came from but he had bigger concerns right now.

He turned his attention back towards the elephant in the room, or rather the half giant. He strode forward, wincing with each step as he tightened his right hand into a hard fist before he finally got to the half giant. Kyle was thankfully alittle taller this year putting him at 5'10, and while still shorter than the half giant, between his own growing and his training to be a boxer he was getting stronger.

"Hey asshole, remember me?" he then pulled back and threw a hard punch towards @Quinn Healy in an attempt to once again lay him out, and keep him from putting his hands on Erin.

While Kyle might have been an innocent bystander to most people, they didn’t know that she had a promise to keep to him. So Erin being a walking piece of art, crazy yes, but still art her wand, found herself a more suitable target. The silver light erupted from her wand and struck the boy perfectly. Of course, however, he again went at Quinn even though Quinn started nothing. Just like last October, she would be relentless against him. San owed him for Jake and Quinn, and every other person he decided to torture for no reason. She didn’t care about those that deserved it, but when you torture a boy three times smaller than you for no reason and brush it off like it was nothing, well, she had a promise to keep after all.

Quinn managed to get punched in the face without managing to restrain Erin; hopefully, the half-giant would be more successful next time. Nico cast at Erin brilliantly a streaking blue light managing to hit the blonde Slytherin. “Maybe you should worry more about remembering me.” It wasn’t hard to figure out who he was; after all, he dressed practically the same as he did last year. "This is for Jake as promised!"

In the end, Illya did offer his hand to lead Carolyn to the dance floor and the girl realised she wasn’t at all surprised. The boy did strike her as someone who knew how to behave during social events. Whether he enjoyed it or not was entirely different matter. Perhaps he did perhaps he didn’t. Carolyn thought it was nice but also slightly funny. After all, they were still so young, it almost felt like they were playing pretend. Still, she had a lovely company and wanted to dance so she couldn’t care less. “I would love to hear more,” the witch confirmed once Illya gave away a hint of the jackal meaning. She briefly wondered what animal could describe her character. She never thought about that one, which was curious considering how much she loved them. Perhaps I’ll get to know that if I ever manage to conjure a proper patronus. She was certainly going to do her best.

Carefully, Carolyn placed her hand on Illya’s shoulder and let him place his on her back, then their free hands finally met. The witch made sure not to react upon seeing his scar. She would be lying if she said she wasn't curious but she was afraid the injury might bring back unwelcome memories. She didn't want to pry. “Oh, don’t worry about me, I’m sure I will,” she replied to his cheeky taunting. She was a good dancer, even now he could probably tell by her perfect posture. Of course, anything could happen and she might very well make a fool of herself but she refused to even think about such scenario. Finally, the first steps were made. At first, Carolyn focused on her partner, learning his style and movement. She adapted quickly to changes in direction, allowing the boy to take lead, and trusting him with her safety on the dance floor. She would make things difficult if her partner wasn’t treating her well but if he was, she would follow. He went right, she went right. He sped up, she did too and if Illya dared to include a turn here and there, she was ready to do it. Thanks to the years of ballet experience, Carolyn heard the music perfectly. She didn’t need to count her steps. The movement came to her naturally. This here was when she decided to let go of all worries and sorrow from the previous months. Nothing else seemed to matter anymore; at least for that moment. The witch felt relaxed, and allowed herself to smile at her partner. She was glad she took the risk of going to the ball with a complete stranger. It would no doubt become a pleasant memory. Distantly, she was aware of the commotion in the background yet she had no desire to stop and join the "fun". She wanted to remain blissfully oblivious even if it was just a for a minute or two.

Amara fell into a rhythm; peaceful dancing, memorized steps, everything is in place, and working as it should.

"And I would leave a happy girl." The blonde responds, smiling through her gold mask.

Glancing around, a feeling of ease settles over Amara. All around her, couples are dancing, friends are chatting and the worst that is happening is petty drama.

Well, the ease lasted for a moment. Spells and fists seem to already be flying, and Amara will not stand for it.

Stepping out of her date's grasp, she places a quick kiss on his cheek before pulling out her wand. In the same pocket as her brooch, Amara rubs the emerald to remind her of her duty as a Viper.

Running, well walking as fast as a 12-year-old can in a ball gown and heels, Amara makes her way over to the brawl. She sends a nod of recognition over to her Dueling Co-Captian and house prefect before readying her wand in the direction of the blonde who seems to be the creator of this mess,

"Verdimillious"

Praying her aim is true, Amara is younger and therefor weaker than most of this group, the Dragamior heir looks around once more for her date. Amara sends a look that hopefully says 'I am okay' towards him.

Henry smiled at Heather and her date along with occasionally looking over at Miranda. Henry was happy to be there especially since he was there with his girlfriend and a close friend, possibly a new friend also. Henry would laugh a bit as he spoke to Heather's date, " I take it your a ravenclaw to mate? First year?" Henry would then nudge Heather a bit as he joked " so how's it been dating people both shorter and younger than you Heather," Henry glanced away for a second when he say the boy who was bothering the ghost cat now recognized to him as Hanako Tone; a fellow slytherin of the Snape dorm and a real childish prankster in Henry's opinion as he watch him stick his tongue out at him. Henry rolled his eyes and glanced the other direction which was a good thing since he saw a brawl happening at the ball and unlike one between Scarlett and the gryffindor girl; Anastasia Beckett. This one including people he knew and interacted with currently also there wasn't as many punches or girls rolling on the ground as that last one had.

Henry smiled to Miranda and the others as he spoke " uh excuse me for a second, I'm going to check out that brawl over there," Henry then looked at Miranda with a smile and twinkle in eye as if he was saying want to join me? Henry would then squeeze Miranda's hand for a few minutes before twirling her around once and giving a final smile before he sort of walked at a brisk pace to the bawl.

Regardless if Miranda joined him or not, Henry would make his way over to the brawl where he would see a blonde hair and unrecognizable girl to him and what looked like the hufflepuff quidditch caption locked in a fist fight. Looking around he then noticed his dueling captain, well co captain since Dmitri Jones was his dueling captain, anyway he watch as the dueling co captain sent a tickling charm to what looked like the blonde girl's date but he couldn't stare long for the slytherin prefect sent a knockback jinx to the blonde girl, by this point Henry thought he understood sort of what was happening.

Henry then saw his own dueling partner; Amara Dragamior rush to the brawl as well and cast the green sparks charm which wasn't that bad for a distraction,
maybe she's not as bad or does know how to strategize.... Stepping away from his thoughts Henry looked at the brawl and he knew that this time he couldn't just stand there and do nothing so he reached in his underneath his dress robe to his suit pocket where he pulled out his wand, which accidentally knocked his dress robes off a bit reveling a bit more of his suit underneath along with a gint of embed green.

Henry then rushed into the brawl thinking fast, every spell and situation running through the twelve year olds mind over and over as he try to decide what which only end up panicking Henry as he struggled with what to do and when to do it.

He knew that they shouldn't doing this and that he shouldn't be there because what can he do? Panicked? Worry? Stress about the endless possibilities for the future? None of those were helpful at the current situation or would be if anything else happened at the ball. The thought made Henry glance over his shoulder as he was now on edge and waiting for something else to happen, for chaos to start.

Meanwhile Henry had to do something, he just couldn't stand there or walk away. He had to help so as spell after spell ran through his mind Henry finally decided as he pointed his wand at the blonde haired girl and spoke " Fumos."

Charles leaned against the wall as he looked around at the Masquerade, everything seemed so normal to him or unnaturally familiar. He felt trapped like instead of having two separate lives, he only had one. One that he either lived or wore a mask while living, Charles looked down at his suit and frowned a little everything about him screamed wealthy and tradition pureblood family something he could never stand. Charles thought about Cassie and how talking to her felt unreal, like he could just be himself and no one would ignore him or forget about him. He didn't need to flirt with her or insult her for her to look at him or acknowledge him, she just did and for some reason Charles felt like comfortable around her, like he didn't need the mask or he didn't need to hide his past. He could be honest with her, he was hisself around her.

Charles knew what he had to do and he couldn't stay there as he looked up at Fyodor and the girl before speaking to the girl " it was a pleasure to meet you madam but I better be on my way, someone to apology to," Charles then turned to his friend and smiled at him as he smiled at the girl he was staring at and said " go speak to her Fyodor, trust me you will have a better time there then here... standing in the corner," Charles then would place his hands on his shoulders and shout over to the mysterious girl, Rosa Sawn, " Hey my friend here wants to speak with you and probably dance! Madam my friend here thinks your hot, he would like to dance with you!" Charles would then laugh a little as he whispered to Fyodor, " your welcome Fyo."

Charles would then begin his walk out of the masquerade and toward the costume where he would apology to Cassie and finally be honest with her. However he got a bit distracted for he saw a boy in the corner alone with black nail polish painted on his nails that wasn't too badly done. Charles decided a short stop won't be that bad for he nodded a hello to the other girl there and turn his attention to the boy as he pointed toward his nails and with a hint of sarcasm spoke " nice nails, did they impressive your date that they ran off?" Charles laughed a bit as he took a spot next to the boy and leaned on the wall as he spoke again " really through, nice nails. Did you paint them yourself?" Charles may not admit it to anyone else but they were nice and he really did like them, he was even considering doing it to himself for a odd reason.

Charles then figured he should leave but then decided to stay and converse with the boy a bit longer as he spoke " I'm Charles," He gave the boy a half smile as he then turned back to the dance and spoke again " so did you do that for yourself or for someone else?"

Hearing Thomas be polite wasn't something Callie was accostomed to. Most of the time she heard the boy mocking someone or something in some manner, so instead of butting into the conversations she simply watched the boy in awe. While Callie knew he was capable of being nice out of experience she didn't quite expect him to be so polite in a situation like this. Was Thomas Baines somewhat human afterall? Perish the thought! It wasn't until Thomas brought up her name to mock her that Callie grinned. There was the weirdo she knew. Instead of taking offence to his mocking of her love of banana costumes she instead let out a laugh. "Hey, quit making fun of bananas! They're a wonderful piece of fruit and I'm still distraught you all wouldn't let me dress as one." As the conversation continued Callie occasionally slipped food from the table into her mouth to help sasiate her growing hunger. Callie was so caught up in slipping food from the table that she didn't quite notice Thomas fade into quiet for a moment.

"That's in a few DAYS?" Callie exclaimed in mild disbelief as the concept of time frequently eluded her. "Oh yeah! We're gonna nail it! What's our team name again? Murder of Merlin? Whatever, we're gonna win! Mark my words, it's gonna go better than quidditch!" Callie certainly picked up on the hint of anxiety in Thomas' tone but assumed it was out of his own hate for awkward conversations. As an individual with a certain talent for filling the air with conversation, Callie took it upon herself to lend her skills to her duelling partner. "Are you guys going to dance? I'm not sure if I want to put the student population at risk with my dancing." Callie hadn't at all noticed the developing chaos as she was too wrapped up in conversation. "What say you Valerie? You've been quite quiet, not a fan of dancing? I already know Elias hates my mad dancing skills, I can't ever think why." She opted to leave out the part where her dancing tended to leave people mildly injured.

Logan only rolled her eyes at the boy as he did not seem to care to talk to her. What she did notice was that his eyes continued to linger on a girl across the room from them. "Ahh, I see," she said with a smile on her face as she looked across at the rather pretty girl. She was rather startled when another boy walked up to them and started talking. Once he said his name, she giggled a bit as he seemed to not recognize her from their interactions in the courtyard earlier in the month.

"My name is Logan Baird," she said with a small grin on her face as she looked across the room at the girl again. Slowly she took a sip of her water again and rolled her eyes when Charles said the other girl's friend was hot. "I do agree with Charles here," she said as if it was the strangest thing in the world, "There is no harm in asking her to dance."

Logan never thought she would fully agree with Charles on something, but apparently she could. She did not agree with what he did next though. Yelling across the ballroom like that was something she could not truly think was appropriate, especially something of the nature of wanting to dance with someone. "That is not the way you ask a girl to dance," she muttered angrily as Charles walked away, she assumed to talk to someone else. She could not believe he just yelled that at someone from across the room.

Turning, she looked at the boy she was originally talking to. "Just walk up to her and ask her to dance, be polite about it and not to pushy about it." She told him with a soft smile on her face.
