Yes! And often times the rules are enforced sexistly. Like, guys can go around with their pants hanging off them but girls can't have shorts that are a quarter of an inch too short.

It's kinda annoying, so I've learnt my lesson and always take care to dip the cut pineapple into a bowl of salt water before eating it.
