If you're approaching a period where you will be inactive and you think it'd be unfair to mentees, you can resign and re-apply at a later date. If you're planning forward for something that will be happening within the next few months though, I'd recommend waiting to apply to be a mentor until after that's finished - mentorships are supposed to take around a month to complete but often can take longer.

Does broken broomshaft have a 10% or a 25% chance of shattering a broom in broom racing? Under the mending spell in the broom racing system it says that "This is a counter to the ability [Broken Broomshaft] as this skill can break a racing broom when casting spells that cause damage as a secondary effect. This is a smaller chance (10%) of happening than when a quaffle hits and takes a player off their broom (25%), however over the course of a race someone has a high probability of destroying a broomstick overall", but on the same page it says that "Successful hits on improvised projectiles and critical hits on [Attack] spells made by racers with this ability have a 25% chance to also break a rider's broom", and in the special abilities and magic races page it says that "In Broom Racing, successful hits on improvised projectiles and critical hits on Attack spells made by racers with this ability have a 25% chance to also break a rider's broom."

How do I open access for the Marauder's Map? I just bought it but it remains grey in the tool bar.

Go to your preferences and check to see if you have it set to use the invisibility cloak on the marauders map. If you have it checked then you are unable to access the map. Once it is turned off it takes 3 days, I believe, until you gain access to it.


It should work if it is marked as the X instead of the checkmark.

I'm wanting to do some of the homework now that I'm in my second year, but I didn't do any in my first year. Do I have to do the homework I missed in my first year? And where do I do the homework?

You can do the homework now! You could never do a single assignment and then start in your 4th year, it’s totally optional.

You can find a text box to insert your answers at the very bottom of the page.

You can do homework in either year, first year or second year, whenever you want to. Homework is completely optional as at the end of the year (July 1st real life date), you can make an update trunk post and get all the spells and potions of the previous year for free. Doing homework will give you spells/potions earlier and will also give you House Points that count towards the House Cup. I hear that they are eventually removing the ability to do previous year homework though sometime in the near future, so if you do want to do it, make sure you do it soon! Unless I'm wrong about that.

Bumping this for someone who might know a bit more on the Broom Racing system than me- specifically the Broom Racing captains or an adult lol
