Yeah, it's pretty annoying.
Do you hate it when you're upset with your parents, but have expressed your feelings in the thing on the last so it wouldn't do you any good to bring it up again, but then they notice you're upset and ask you what's wrong, and you try and say nothing to avoid a repeat of the earlier conflict, but then they parent-pressure you into telling them, and so you do, and they rejustify their reasons (of course still painting them as the good, rational people), and then you start to feel emotional because you want to defend yourself (and maybe you do a bit) but they notice for getting emotional and tell you to stop being "weird" and "over-the-top" and "emotional" all because you couldn't conceal you're true feelings better and then still feel even worse when the conversation is over, but they feel better and reaffirmed in their positions?

That's a thing? Yikes... my friends and I usually pretended to go to dances but then snuck off together as soon as our parents dropped us off. Now that I'm grown I'd be furious if they forced my kid to dance with someone.
