@Simon Corbin, the limitations on a special race can be quite annoying for me personally - an ability only every other year and then less stat points. However, for plot development and character development - it’s great.

I agree with that. It can be quite difficult to choose abilities based on special races, especially since those are much more likely subject to change than normal abilities. But instead they get some unique abilities and Opeila's whole story is based on her skill, it wouldn't have worked out without it.
