I'm not very sure if this would be popular demand, but I'm wondering if there are any plans (or if it has been suggested before) to have Alchemy and Arithmancy elective classes?
I just happened to notice that in the Harry Potter novels they have six electives and we have four, missing the two aforementioned classes.

As far as I know, the reason for not having those is that there is not so much information. Apparently Divination covers Arithmancy a little, or so I have heard.Elisabeth Erner wrote: 6 Mar 2021, 16:52I'm not very sure if this would be popular demand, but I'm wondering if there are any plans (or if it has been suggested before) to have Alchemy and Arithmancy elective classes?

I did write some Arithmancy classes in Divination. There was just not a lot of material, at least not enough to make multiple years of it for players. As for Alchemy, I believe there was a similar issue in terms of giving players spells and such. Beyond that, the classes we have were hard-coded by Zach.

Quite a few people - especially first years - have been using things like canva or google thumbnails to host images, which have an expiration date and don't often work, so maybe it would be useful to have a tutorial somewhere on how to upload images to a hosting site such as postimg?

I have a suggestion!
It is about the residence part in the profile card. I've heard that it was possible once, to change the residence yourself. That sounds like a rather cool thing, as people move and only having the chance to move once might be a bit of a problem (I don't plan on moving my character again, so this is just a general suggestion).
I understand that first years need to live in the UK so they would get a Hogwarts letter in the first place, but being able to change the residence yourself in year 2 and up would be really cool, I think. I don't know if that is possible, I'm just throwing it in here

The feature to change your residence to other countries was available to all users in-between when Zach made some changes to the code (I think that was in 2018), but lead to a lot of issues for the Validations team, because you need to live in the UK to get a Hogwarts invitation owl. They had to spend considerable time explaining to people that while they had the option to pick a residence outside the UK, they weren't allowed to.Opeila Winters wrote: 15 Mar 2021, 14:18 I have a suggestion!

Consequently, Zach removed the option to be able to pick any country of residence again at the request of the staff/admin team. This is a feature that isn't linked to roles (meaning as an admin I cannot simply create a role that is able to change their residence and for example attach it to higher year or adult access), but something that is "all or nothing", where either everyone can do it or no one can. Thus it was decided for the ease of moderation that players aren't able to change their residence by themselves.

Hi, I'm a new user and I love this site. It's so great. But maybe you could let the unregistered/invalidated users send owls? When I was registering, I had a few questions that I couldn't ask anyone.
Thanks!

The reason (as far as I know) that unregistered users cannot send owls is so that we don't get bots, spammers or people who are basically here just to annoy other people from the owls. Once they're registered the admins have been able to check that they're actual RPers looking to write on here, since they've filled in the backstory, appearance, personality ect. However, you're right in that it might be useful to send owls to ask questions, so maybe unregistered users could send owls to HoH, but have some sort of time limit and character limit, so they could only send 2 500 character owls per hour per say? That would probably be a programming suggestion for Zach though.Alex Evans wrote: 19 Mar 2021, 19:59 Hi, I'm a new user and I love this site. It's so great. Lucia is correct. If unregistered users could send owls, this would open the door for bots and spammers to flood the site. The owl feature is an on/off kind of thing. The only specific thing about it that can be changed is whether or not a person can send mass owls or not. We cannot specify whom owls can be sent to or similar things, as is this isn't included in the code.
