OC: Did not realize that Destrian took over the teacher NPC. I had been waiting for the thread maker's post. I have edits to make in the adjacent thread.

IC:
This class would continue to devolve with the righteous indignation of the students. This was essentially a power struggle between the students and the professor. The class would continue on to the point of completion, whenever that might have been and she would let out a disgruntled sigh as a migraine would start to form starting in her temples before it would spread across her head. "For gods sake..." she would mutter out loud before she finished the rest of the phrase in her head.

Somehow it got turned around to let Marcus show off. She did not understand people and she buried her face in her arms that laid on her desk, her indigo tresses hiding her eyes and her annoyed expression. Of course this class would turn into the Marcus Show.

"I honestly don't mind Professor, if it helps the other students as well as my own house in learning, I volunteer to use some of the spells I have learned from my tutors and parents"

"All I ask is I receive the credit where it is due as well as House Points for the difficulty of said spells"

He got up and prepared himself for his 'glorious' display. She was miffed but curious of course. Part of her wanted to just keep her head down and pretend to nap through this but another part of her wanted to actually watch the demonstration and learn something. She was conflicted.

"Would you prefer light, grey, dark, semi-dark, semi-light, go ahead and pick."

She internally screamed.

Nope, she was not going to watch. She defied Marcus, even if it was at a loss or a delay in the development of her own skill. She would look away, of course looking towards the clock over the door that was ticking away. She could have sworn that the hands sometimes went backwards, either that or her sense of boredom and annoyance have altered her perception of time. It was then that another Slytherin entered, she had met him once before. She did not know what to think of him, his smug expression reminded her of Marcus but he maintained a cool demeanor and had not proved himself to be a braggart or a cruel prankster so she did not hate him yet. Of course Erin was a bit of a hypocrite in this regard, she was not a kind and sweet girl and she made no effort to appear to be one. She was quick to anger and she did not hide her indolence. These traits would not earn her friends.

Destarian would enter and the climate of the room would change. It was uncanny.

"Fine! If it's magic you want, you'll get magic. But do not turn for me when you get questions on your test about the history of Dark Arts."

The instructor would regain control of his class.

"Grab your wands and do as I say."

She was mildly confused, in fact she even forgot to be relived over the fact that Marcus would not get his shining moment. She would pull her wand from her bag. It was a simple wand made of chestnut wood, it did not seem as impressive as the wands wielded by some of the other students. Some had rarer or harder woods. Some had fine carved details. Hers had none of these things. All the same, it was a wand and it worked. That was what was important.

"Today I will only be teaching you a single spell, but it is one of the most useful spells I will teach you. The use of this spell is commonly the way to end formal duels - if you opponent is disarmed, then they have no method of attacking and, therefore, are defeated."

She perked up as she listened to the lecture, her back erect against the chair.

"Now, for your basic components of spellcasting. The wand movement is a spiral that goes clockwise and ends with an outward swish up and to the left. While performing this wand movement, you say the incantation “Expelliarmus” "

He explained and as he did so she would lift the wand and rotate it ever so slightly without saying the word. In her mind however she would repeat it, enunciating the words mentally as she did so.

Ex - Spell - Ear - E- Am - Us

Ex- Pell - E - Arm - Us

Expel - Liar- Mus

"You will practice this in groups of two."

She would not even notice his last statement, that they would be working in groups of two. She was too busy trying to figure out which letters she needed to sound out, which ones she needed to enunciate.

While the rest of the class busied themselves finding a partner, she did not. It was not an active effort to defy instructions (for once) but rather a keen interest in the lesson at hand. The only evidence of this would be the wand that gently rotated in her hand in the manner he had instructed. Not a word came from her however as her mind was someplace else.

Ex-Peel-Liar-Moose

No, that did not sound right either. The cloud over her eyes would fade away as she would finally take note of the other students scurrying about to find a partner. It looked like most of them had already partnered up. She would shrug her shoulders, it did not matter who she got. She would just take the leftovers. "Who is left?" She sounded less than excited about the prospect of partnering up with someone despite the fact that she was elated to learn something useful and new. "I guess whoever you are, you're stuck with me," she half smiled or at least she tried to.

Just a trick of the lighting they said...

In a hurry with a big book in his right hand and wand in his left hand Jack entered the class, as he looked around he saw a empty sit in the right corner. He approached and took a seat.  Jack was late so he didn't know whats really happening around the class.'Jack was really interested and excited for Defense Against the Dark Arts. He was sitting comfortably, he opened his book  and placed his wand next to his book

Jack took a look at the professor, just focusing on him.
"Grab your wands and do as I say."

Clumsily Jack took his wand and raised it up . There were some noise in the class, other students were talking to each other, whispering .

"Today I will only be teaching you a single spell, but it is one of the most useful spells I will teach you. The use of this spell is commonly the way to end formal duels - if you opponent is disarmed, then they have no method of attacking and, therefore, are defeated," Professor said.

As the jack heard about the spell, he thought that it was really hard to cast this spell because professor said that if the enemy has no method of attacking they are defeated. Jack got worried that he won't succeed in casting this spell.

Professor continued
"Now, for your basic components of spellcasting. The wand movement is a spiral that goes clockwise and ends with an outward swish up and to the left. While performing this wand movement, you say the incantation “Expelliarmus”

* Jack started to do circles with his wind, then he moved it up - left
'' Expelliarmus! ''
Nothing happened at all, Jack was confused so he continued to say ''Expelliarmus!'' ''Expelliarmus!'' nothing.
I will never learn how to do this ''
Jack mutters.

Lex nodded at Arcues. "I will try to avoid any fires then." then he looked at his wand. He looked at Arceus as if he was asking if he could go first. When he didn't get a response, he took it as a yes.

His left hand shakily gave his wand an experimental wave as he tried to remember how to say the spell. 'Expecanmose. No, that's way too far. Expelliarmus sounds alright. Ex-pe-liar-mus.' He thought over and over, muttering something under his breath. After almost a minute he decided to try it out.

The first try. He was unsure about the spell. He twisted the wand clockwise but his words failed in his throat. That's pathetic. His face remained neutral but his eyebrows furrowed a little. 'Try again.' he thought.

The second try. He swung it anti-clockwise instead and his twitchy hands dropped the wand. He had to pick it back up, aebit embarassed. "Uhm... You never saw that." He tried to joke, giving the smallest smile he could manage, before his expression returned neutral. He looked around to see if anyone noticed. Thankfully, they were too busy.

The third try. 'Third time's a charm, right? RIGHT? Ah well.' His attempts to encourage himself made him mentally roll his eyes. He started to do the gesture, getting everything correct so far. "Expelliarmus." he whispered. Nothing happened. Oh well.

"Do you want to give a try? We can take turns." Lex looked at Arceus. He was determined to get this spell right but he didn't want to hog all the time. Arceus said he could do Expelliarmus, so maybe he can pick up a thing or two while the other practices.

Arceus watched as Lex tried the spell He's doing good I hope he doesn't get too upset about not managing to do it He thought to himself, "Umm.. sure I'll try, I know I said I've done it before but it was pathetic so I don't think you'll learn much from me" He said jokingly Ok.. here goes, come on Arceus empty your mind He closed his eyes and tried to focus on the spell and nothing else, he drowned out all the noises around him and kept repeating the spell in his mind Expelliarmus ok, I can do this "Expelliarmus!" He shouted out loud and a tiny blue light emerged from his wand but faded in an instant.. "Well.. that's one step ahead I guess, now try emptying your mind and focus on nothing else, imagine yourself in an intense battle I do that sometimes but people have different ways of learning. I'm no expert either so.." He pushed Lex forward lightly "Go get em" He said jokingly before sitting by to watch what Lex would do. That was embarrassing and I think I shouted to loud He rubbed his eyes and tried focusing on Lex to see what he would do.

Have a nice day and peace out..

Siege merely leans at a pillar, while reading his book.
"Siege!" Called out a voice. It was the instructor of the class, and he did not look too happy.  "What are you doing? You're supposed to have a partner for the expelliarmus spell" Said the instructor.
"Seems like a boring spell to be honest, plus I don't need it, I have my fists after all." Said Siege quite nonchalantly, grinning at the obviously irritated instructor.
"That's not what you're here for Siege. There's no way a fist could stand against the wand-based combat we practice...Just find a partner please?" Asked the instructor, who seemed to bee more calm now.
"Fine, I'll try, just don't surprised when the fist does beat the wand..." Said Siege, turning around and walked off to find a partner.  The instructor merely shook his head, and headed off to teach some more students.
"Now...who's left I wonder?" Wondered Siege out loud, still with his book in hand. "I should probably pull out my wand for this..." Pulling out the ornate wand he had. "Do I wave this around or something?" Wondered Siege once more, trying to wave it around for a bit. "Drats, better find a partner soon..." Muttered Siege, though looking up he saw none who had no partner. "Ah...well. This might take a while..."

Serena sighed a breathe of relief as she saw "Defense Against the Dark Arts" scribbled onto the door.  There it is! Finally - whoops, I'm seriously late... She thought to herself as she sighed, rolled her eyes and then straightened out her slightly messed up appearance.  As calmly as possible, she walked in - trying not to catch the attention of everyone in the room.  She hated this feeling of being late.  It was super awkward.  That didn't mean she would be early next time, oh no.  In fact, she was usually always late - her time management skills was poor, at best.  However, she hated being the centre of attention and walking in ridiculously late was a great way to catch people's attention.

Of course, the teacher was bound to notice her as she walked in, so she threw up a hand in an apology as she walked in, "Sorry, I got lost." she claimed as she quickly looked away and scanned the room for an empty space - as far away from the teacher as possible.  Getting lost was actually true, though she also didn't leave enough time to be there even if she knew the way.  She did completely get baffled by all of the moving stairs and the different number of floors.  How was anyone ever supposed to find the right room in this place?

As she walked towards the back of the classroom, she noticed people in pairs.  Great... she thought, with utter sarcasm and dread drenching her thoughts.  She now had to try and find a partner?  At this rate, she was probably going to be the only one without a partner!  Surely everyone had already partnered up.  Biting her lip, she stood near the corner and looked to see if she could find someone for the task.  At least, whilst she waited, she watched the other students and tried to figure out what they were doing.  Serena watched as she heard students shout "Expelliarmus" (or various pronunciations of it), some with success and some with utter failure.  Great... now to just figure out how to do that... and find a partner... and probably just get swallowed whole by the floor now, please.  Eurgh, stupid Serena, why did you have to be here so late?  Late for the partnered task, of course.  Good job, genius!

"Huh...Seems that there's no one..." Commented Siege, shrugging casually and began to lean once more on a pillar, and pulled out his book. "My bad prof, I tried' Muttered Siege, then looking up once more to see if anyone really didn't have a partner. He saw the girl from Hogsmead talking to the professor, though he just assumed that she had a partner already.
"If worst comes to worst, I'll just give them a punch...But not if a female though..." Muttered Siege, thinking about what an actual duel looked like. He imagined it to be epic, both sides casting various spells, running around and hiding from the blasts of the opposing sides. He got so deep in thought that a page of his book began burning, an unintentional casting of wandless magic.
"Oh Drats! It happened again!" Cursed Siege to himself, knowing that his pendant keeps the flames in check, though sometimes it just leaks out. "I might have to visit the Headmaster for this...Don't wanna burn down the school do I?" Whispered Siege in relief, after putting out the fire, that consumed half of he page he was reading. "Well...there goes that page..." Muttered Siege a bit disappointed at the blackened outline of the burns.

Serena's eyes fell onto a dark haired boy that was leaning against a pillar and reading a book.  Does he have a partner?  Oh, maybe he's already done it?  She wondered as she bite her lip, a little too hard.  Sighing, she decided to muster up the courage to go over to talk to him.  Even if he had already done the task, perhaps he could help her with it.  It certainly looks like he had finished... Or maybe he just didn't care enough to try it...  As she got closer, she recognised who it was.  It was that boy she had met from the Leaky Cauldron.  The one that was super cute but definitely spelled out trouble... Errr... Her nerves started to kick in.  Should she even be asking him?  He was definitely trouble and chances are, he was probably up to no good now too.

She quickly scanned the room again before rolling her eyes.  She couldn't see anyone else free.  Walking up to him, she decided to just go for it.  What's the worst that could happen? She questioned to herself as she approached, "Hey stranger-" She started, trying to be all fun and not look like an awkward embarrassed mess around him.  Her words got caught in her throat though as her eyes widened.  She managed to catch the sight of his page burning.  What the heck is he up to?  What was she getting herself into? "Shit! You okay?" She asked in a panicked voice as she rushed forward and grabbed his hand, pulling the book away from him.

Despite her awkwardness and nerves, the one thing she was good at was rushing in head first to help people without thinking about it.  She would risk herself for a random stranger.  The fire caused her to panic and it instantly helped her to forget about her nerves.  Never in a million years did she plan to hold his hand or touch him in any way but right now, she wasn't thinking about it, "What happened? Are you hurt?" She asked in an alarmed voice as she tried to examine his hand.

Siege merely just smiled at the girl. "Nah, been used to it, thanks though...I guess?" Said Siege. Didn't expect her, to show up here...Despite that kind of shyness, she might've fit well in Gryffindor. "So...What brings you here miss? Here for the class, or for me?" Asked Siege, still smiling. "Don't tell the teacher but I actually fell asleep...That's why I'm here..." Said Siege. "...Without a partner...". I really didn't expect her to be here...What was her name again? I don't wanna ask her again...It might be a pain to just ask her again...Was it Scyllia? No, too Greek...Sydney? Too fancy...Selena? It could be it, but I know I'm so damn close to figuring it out. What was it...Serena? Yeah...I'm pretty confident about that...But is it really her name? It might have been Selena! Yes I think I'm right...And plus...Wait...What's this soft touch on my hand...*His Eyes Dart Down Quickly*...So she's holding my hand now? How bold can she get!*Mused Siege in his mind, jokingly of course*...Anyways it might be Selena...Or Serena...Can I just play it off like I'm Japanese, so even if I say Serena, I can always play it off like I said Selena, but can't cause I can't pronounce l's??*He looked at her again* "Well...I assume you've come here for me...Selena..." Drats! I said it...Didn't I mean Serena?

Serena looked at him with a worried expression evident on her face.  She could never hide her worry - and she worried constantly and everyone and everything, "Used to it? What do you mean?" She asked blinking, before it started to dawn on her, "You didn't do it on purpose, did you?" Serena asked curiously, wondering if he had meant to start a fire.  She didn't know him well and he did seem to cause trouble but... she doubted he would have tried to set his own book on fire - especially not in class, in front of the teacher!  Surely, he wouldn't do that.

As she pondered what he meant, his next words hit her ears.  It took her a few seconds to register the exact words of his question but as soon as she did, a blush crossed her cheeks.  "Yea- Wha- No no-" She shuttered out, not exactly making sense.  Bloody hell, Serena, say some words!! WORDS, WOMAN! "Oh urm, late.  I mean, I turned up late!  I didn't really realise class had started... and then got lost. So... yeah..." She mumbled out, mentally facepalming herself at what a fool she was making of herself.

"...You fell asleep?" She asked, blinking a little before bursting into a giggle.  That's exactly the sort of thing she would do!  It made her feel a little more at ease knowing there was something she had in common with him, if nothing else. Their self-confidence levels were definitely on opposite ends. "Oh, well I don't have a partner either so... maybe we could work together?" She asked, a little cautiously, worried he would say no and mock her for her stupid idea.  Idiot, why would he want to work with me? I'm babbling like a moron.  Sigh, well at least I'm saying sentences now... Surely that's an improvement? Maybe? Shit, just find someone else.

Serena was lost in thought when he spoke again.  What? Why would I come for him- Wait- Selena? What? She wondered what he was on about, as she looked up at him and then noticed that his eyes were looking down at their hands. "Shi- sorry!" She quickly pulled her hands back, letting go off his hand and book instantly. Her eyes quickly looked down at her feet, unable to look at him.  She could feel his eyes looking at her, making her blush even more. Idiot!! Why were you holding his hand? What's wrong with you? Don't go holding people's hands!! She mentally screamed at herself, scolding her own behaviour. She was so embarrassed at this point in time that she didn't even correct him about the wrong name. "I- Sorry- I thought that - err- maybe you were hurt.  Sorry." she mumbled quickly, fully embarrassed.  Her cheeks were probably a rosy shade of red by now and she couldn't look at him in the face right now.
