He had known that an event called 100 days before Christmas would be held at Hogwarts, and had not hesitated to sign up. If there was one thing he loved, it was crafts. It was even better when it became known that it was about making different kinds of Christmas ideas. Remembering that when he was signing to be part of it, and that it was going to take place in the Great Hall. Once he arrived, the first thing he could perceive was the familiar aroma of gingerbread, making memories come to him when he was at his mother’s café and used to help her make cookies. He was looking at the tables with interest, trying to make a decision about what he wanted to start first. What if I start first with letters and leave the cookies for last? That way, I can relax while enjoying eating the cookies. He thought to himself. He walked to the table where the card section was, and seated next to a boy. Starting to examine the table, he started by picking up an empty letter and was trying to get his head around, wanting to get an idea of how he wanted the design. It wasn’t an easy task because Hendrik had so many ideas. What if I made several letters with different designs? So he could send several people he knew, even his favorite customer who always came to the café.
With several ideas in mind, Hendrik began designing the paper. He painted the edges with red and green colors, creating a frame. First he wanted to make a test design to see how it looked before starting to decorate the envelope. With the tongue poking out, he kept a focused expression while coloring the card. Once finished, he was examining for flaws but couldn’t find any. Feeling satisfied, he was looking for some materials to decorate “It would be nice to add red.” muttered to himself, taking several red pieces. He began by drawing the face of Santa Claus in the center of the envelope, and added red glitter just at the edges of the clasp, ensuring it hadn’t been overdone. Being focused, he ended up distracted by looking at one of the designs of other students, until he remembered that he had to finish. But he had become so distracted that he forgot he was designing. Until he could remember what he had been doing, he decided to write a letter. There were to be several for several people, although the first two letters were to be addressed to their parents. The third was for an old woman who visited the café and brought him cookies.

Dear Maman,
Hogwarts is amazing! I never thought it could be a great place. I’m looking forward to spending my first year here. I admit I haven’t made any friends yet but I’ll do my best to make them. I wanted to thank you for sending the cookies, I really missed you. I didn’t take long but I’m a bit confused. It’s all so big! And many unknown faces! I like some classes. Do you know that I’m from Hufflepuff now?!! It’s a good house, and they have welcomed me in the best way possible!
I’ll tell you more things. You’ll get a letter every week. Promised!
With love, Hendrik
After he finished the letter, he stood up for a moment from the table to look at the one with the cookies, feeling hungry at that moment. He saw several cookies scattered around the table but decided that it would be a bad idea to take it, as it would be considered bad manners. And maman never raised me to be a bad boy. He thought, the next thing he did was to make a pout, going back into the envelope and tried to finish decorating it. He added a drawing of a reindeer in the right corner, and a pair of ornaments as decoration. The result was wonderful, and he slid the small letter that he had dedicated to his mother in this envelope. The next challenge was to make the letter for his father. Knowing his papa was muggle, he wanted to do something that might think magic was cool. An invisible light bulb lit up above his head, having had a great idea. He drew a picture of Santa Claus with a bag of cookies, hoping that it would be good enough for some teacher to help him by doing a little trick to make the figure of Santa appear dancing while eating cookies. It was a great thing, but he hoped to be able to make it happen.

Card Decorating Table

Christmas rolled around in Hogwarts much earlier than he thought, and Philip was practically hyped as he saw the announcement. While the "100 days" in the title reminded him how long he still had to wait until the real Christmas Day, he was still passionate about the whole thing, and Philip wasn't going to let such an opportunity slip away. Just think how surprised they would be when they received a Christmas card...100 days earlier! Philip smirked to himself as he walked down the hallways. Aww, if only he could see their expressions.
The Great Hall was in a wonderful festive mood as he approached, and Philip couldn't help but hop up a bit to try to catch a glimpse of it before his entry. Christmas had been celebrated as one of the major holiday events in the Rosser household even after his mother's decease, and Philip was no stranger to it. Not to mention that the smell of cookies actually felt a bit like home. He inhaled deeply as he finally made his way in, putting much effort into keeping himself in check and not heading towards the cookie table. First, cards. Frankly speaking, writing and decorating cards were an equally pleasant task. Philip picked up an unwritten card, promptly sticking a gingerbread man sticker onto it - oof, not bad. He adjusted himself to be better seated, and started working on attaching the laces to the edges of the card. He wouldn't say that he was especially artistic or fit for such jobs, but Philip soon finished decorating his very first card, and started writing.
After finishing the card to his brother, Philip moved on to the second one. Decorating it with Christmas tree stickers and sparkle glue, he began working on the contents, this time for his father.
And of course, he was not done yet. Tucking a candy cane into the side of his mouth and contentedly licking on it, Philip reached for another card. As sweetness bloomed on the tip of his tongue, he soon made up his mind that he should make this card candy-themed. Philip put a few candy cane stickers around the card, then stuck red and white ribbons all over the four edges. And an attempt at drawing a cane using sparkle glue... Philip beamed as the plain card began to look good. Picking up his quill, he started working on a card in Japanese for his cousins @Hayato Ichiyagi and his brother Hizuki.
He thought for a good while about how his cousins' names were written in kanji, before finally coming up with them. Still, he had probably missed a few strokes because they did not look exactly right. As Philip was busy examining the characters, a voice startled him. He made an effort to locate that blunt voice coming from his left, and turned to face the intruder. "Pardon...?" It took him seconds to realise what the auburn-haired boy had been asking earlier. "I'm writing a card, obviously." He replied, confusion emerging on his face. "And who's paying me? Why would you think that?" Philip made a gesture to the cards he had already finished and were ready to send. "Of course not!!!" "I've seen you before. What's your name again, if you please?" He had a vague idea of the boy's name as they had apparently shared a classroom for the last two weeks, but Philip wasn't sure, and plus it would make him look weird if he just spoke the name out loud like a stalker. "And well, maybe you are right." He should have been offended by the incorrect accusations of bribery, but all of a sudden Philip was starting to think that the boy had a lovely point. "They sort of pay me with sweets." He said a bit nostalgically, and licked his bottom lip. "Hey you - do you want a card also? I'm good at card writing." Meeting the boy's brown eyes, Merlin knew why he offered to write a card for his random housemate from the house he was not supposed to be in, and decided to temporarily put his card for his favourite cousins aside just for this. "You don't have to pay me anything."

| C | 𝕾ilver bells chimes. Reindeer neighed. Snowflakes fell. And the child of death ventured forth. Silence and winter chased down the warmth. But no amount of silence and bitter coldness can engulf the great hall in its wintry embrace. The child entered through the doors of the great hall. The spirit of Christmas attacked the girl. Truly, such an event should not fascinate her. Seeing that she is the child of the dark. However, the idea of trying to make her presence less miserable for her friends seemed enticing and, she decided to make something. Especially for her, Estella...she deserves someone much better than this miserable lump of darkness. She had brought a bunch of possibly useful items with her to help in card-making. She ventured further into the great hall after greeting @Ebony Vetra in the entrance. She was a kind sixth-year prefect, who was also Ravenclaw's Quidditch captain. Someone Marcella wished she had befriended a lot earlier. After all, Ebony would be graduating soon. Everyone inched away from her now. Everyone except for the kind prefect and her few friends...and Estella...Why did she have to be so kind? Kinder than everyone else? She approached the station where @Jrue Peterson was standing. "Hey Jrue, how are you?" she inquired politely. After a quick chat, Marcella moved on to sit next to a kind Hufflepuff boy, greeted him and started to make her Christmas cards for her best friends and friends Estella, Clark, Chatt, Evander and Elara. And also some for her family and her favorite professors. First, she started with @Estella Cain's one. Before the incidents that happened last July, Marcella had bought and made many trinkets for her friends. She had bought the book 'Six of Crows' for Estella, a new set of playing cards, and a ring. She also painted a picture of Estella on a mini Canvas. She decided to start by taking an envelope and decorating it. Then she made an accordion zine about what she means to Marcella. She drew and made bookmarks, stickers and little comic strips. She decided to draw another portrait of the two of them. And finally she made her card; she cut an A4 sheet into a heart and glued lace all around it. And wrote 'Merry Christmas' in a fancy and neat script. and finally inside it she wrote: " To my evening star, how shall I explain every grain of my thoughts to you? How can I? When the moon does not speak out loud to the yearner? When the sea does not comfort the griever? When the land does not embrace the buried? Oh but I know. I shall explain in the way the sky cries for the land. The way the moon chases the sun. The way the clouds run for their lovers. And the way the stars glimmer in your eyes. My dearest star, I thank you for your existence in my miserable existence. Will I ever be enough? I doubt. Will you ever be less than a goddess? I doubt. Will you always be my evening star? I doubt not. Happy 100 days before Christmas, my beauty, your moon " She put all of that in a thick decorated manila envelope. Satisfied with her creation and a bit teary as she had just realized how much she loved and missed writing to her loved ones, she moved on to making @Clark Stellan's card. She had bought him the book '', a huge set of rings, a fruit bat plushie, a handmade ceramic mug and an autumn themed tie. Along with all that she had made him a crochet bear, various bookmarks, handmade rings, a mini portrait of him, a beaded bracelet, crochet star shaped crochets and a vintage watch. She decided to make him a mosaic designed bookmark with the little bits of colorful plastic she collected for this very purpose. And then she drew a picture of the two of them. She had also bought him chocolate frogs and Bertie Bott's Every flavor beans. And finally she made the Christmas card. inside it she wrote; " Dearest silvermoon, In every autumn leaf, every ornate ring, every one direction song, every moon phase and every star I see you. I see you in the color blue. I see you in the flower dahlia. I see you in every cloud. I see you in every twinkle of the star. I hear you in every song. And I feel you in every season. Your presence is a mystery, I am yet to unravel. And your grace a history, I witness every day. Oh dear Clarkie, what good deed did I do to deserve you? I will never know. Do I deserve you? I will never know. But do I love you? I will always make sure you know. Happy 100 days before Christmas, my sun, your star " She took a cardboard board to fit all her gifts for him into it, and decorated it. She looked proudly at her creation. The first few scrapes of positive feeling scratched her soul. Despite the wrongness of it, she smiled. A pure one. For this once. And then for her favorite Ravenclaw @Chatt Auclair, she took out the items she had made and purchased for him. She had bought him the book 'Pride and Prejudice'. It would be a good read for that cat. And she had purchased a mini cat plushie key tag, vintage wristwatches, a Balenciaga woolen scarf. She had knitted him a dark blue sweater with a pixel kitty on it. The cat references were definitely on purpose. She made him a spiral zine with all their memories and all the poems she had written for him. She made a cassette with all his favorite vintage songs and a Walkman to aid him. Sitting at the table, she drummed her fingers as she thought about what to do with Mr. Noir. YES! She decided to make him a charcoal sketch of Paris and a portrait of Chatt with France. She quickly got on to writing his letter. " Dearest Mr. Noir, Sometimes they say its better to be alone. And sometimes I fear you might agree. If you do, how will I ever be able to bug you? But either way, whether you agree or not, I will always annoy you. Its how I am with you. And its how I will always be. Even if you agree, I'll still annoy you with cat references. Even if you agree, I'll still throw Talia at you. Even if you agree, I'll still spook you with poems. Even if you agree, I'll still chase you like a bludger (the totally non-violent one of course). Whatever you do, you aren't getting ready of me. Ever. Happy 100 days before Christmas, my kitty, your William Shakespeare " She placed his gift into a white color mail envelope. She decided she'd better speed up her process so she can get to the cookie making station faster. She took out the gifts she had gotten for @Evander Harvey Beauchamp and laid them out on the table in front of her. For her favorite confident, she got heart shaped chocolates, a poetry book, color-changing ink, a sawn feather quill, vintage bracelets, a painting of the both of them underneath the beech tree, a comic strip of their first meeting, a locket, a collection of artistic ties, and a crochet frog. She had bought him the book 'To Kill the Mockingbird'. And soon she started on his letter; " Dearest Boba, I remember the first time we met. The first conversation we had. The first book we shared. The first song we heard. The first walk we walked. The first painting we painted. The first fight we fought. The first difference that set us apart. The first conflict that pushed us together. The first visit we had. The first meal we made. The first video we made. The first picture we took. The first story we wrote. The first place we hid. The first class we skipped. The first star we gazed upon. The first time we ran a race. We have so many firsts and forevers with each other. Many memories I will never forget and will always hold close to my heart. You will always remain my best friend. My darling prince. My handsome best man. And one of my favorite Gryffindors. With all the love in the world, I declare you my servant for eternity Happy 100 days before Christmas, my idiot, your tormentor " She giggled as she finished her letter and packaged his gift and set it aside with the rest. Finally she decided to do the last of her Christmas gifts for her friends. Her gift to @Elara Blackthorne-Vale. Her cousin. Her sister. Her comfort space. Her little gremlin. She had bought her the book 'Sense and Sensibility'. She had purchased diadems, little vintage jewelries, ring watches, bookmarks, ceramic figurines, watches, hair clips, lipstick made in the 1950s, a snail mail package, a Lego building set, beaded bracelets, arm cuffs, a book on quidditch, chaser gloves, journal and a peacock feather quill. And a secret gift and letters for all her moods and different seasons. She took a parchment and set to writing the letter for her little sister. " Dearest little bug, as annoying as you are, I love you. I love every time we hide from our parents. I love every time we buried our fathers in the beach sand for fun. I love every time we threw snowballs at each other. I love every time you'd comfort me when I'd cry. I love every time you'd try cooking and make a mess of the kitchen. I love every memory we made with our grandfather- " she paused and wiped a tear from her eye. " I love every laugh we laughed. I love every shape in the sky we saw. I love every time you'd let me sing you to sleep. You'll always be my baby sister, Ara. No matter how old we grow and no matter the mere months we were born apart. I love you and that's my promise. Happy 100 days before Christmas, my goblin, your older sister " Marcella set all the gifts inside the package she made for Elara. She sighed as she finished all the gifts for her friends. She had already sent the gifts and letter for her family the day before. So she simply wrote a daily letter to her parents, her paternal grandparents and her maternal....grandmother. She took out the gifts she had bought for her professors - @Katherine Townsend, her charms professor, and @Lesmana Asmaralaya, her potions professor. She had bought them some books, journals, chocolates and tiny trinkets. And quickly got on to writing them their cards. " Dearest Professor Kitty, You've charmed me the very first day I walked in to your classroom. With every activity, lesson and spell. I hope all the years to come will be bright as mine when I get to learn with you. I hope you will be happy forever professor. Happy 100 days before Christmas, Your student, "" Dearest Professor Asmaralaya, I've been in love with potions in since forever. And you made me appreciate it even more. You taught me the importance of patience. And the value of preciseness. I hope every year that greets you to be a happy one. I hope every door that opens is a great one. I wish you happiness, love and success in life professor. Happy 100 days before Christmas, Your Student, "She placed the letters with the gifts respectively and put them all aside. She asked Jrue whether she can keep her gifts here until she is able to come collect them. She stared with pride at all the gifts, letters and handmade things she had finished making in the past hour. Now finally she could make her way to the cookie decorating station, overseen by the Ravenclaw prefect, Ebony. She looked over and checked whether everything was right with her gifts. She felt kind of stiff and stretched to ease the discomfort. She looked to her side and saw that the boy who was working on his cards had also finally finished it. "hello again. Would you like to keep me company in the cookie decorating station?" she asked him in the voice she kept to use on new people she had not interacted with. Her voice was slightly rough with disuse and her tone a bit gruff with the lack of practice. She smiled softly at the boy to put him at ease. She was delighted when she realized that she had succeeded in putting forth a decent smile instead of a mechanical one which lacks in all the appropriate emotions. After listening to his response and responding appropriately she decided to go. She quickly got up from the table and with a wave to Jrue and she made her way to the other station. |
