Avis was gloating heavily and she knew it. After her third goal of the match putting her team a smooth 30 points up, the Ravenclaw Chaser couldn’t help it. Quidditch always managed to either destroy her self confidence entirely or blow her ego up the size of an Ironbelly. Come to think of it, it was probably bad that there truly was no in-between.
Regardless, the girl soared away from the triple hoops, shoving down a grin and trying to focus on the next play.
The opposition’s Hufflepuff Chaser, Henry something-or-other, surprised her with a few Quaffle grabs but none came to fruition as her teammate seemed to have the goals locked up airtight. Avis squinted in her direction, trying to decipher if she was indeed familiar or not and discovered that she did recognize her from Quidditch.
The Ravenclaw filed away the Keeper’s talent away for later. Shame she played for Hufflepuff.
Before Avis could make for a fourth goal, everyone’s attention swiveled towards the other end of the pitch as a loud crack echoed across the damp air. The Ravenclaw watched in sympathetic horror as Prat dropped like a stoned bird from his broom, his Beater bat tumbling through the air after him. She winced at his abrupt arrival to the ground and glanced around to place his perpetrator. Ebony Vetra floated nearby, her expression neutral yet the adrenaline practically brimming from her eyes and Avis couldn’t help a small smile of bird pride. She knew Ebony would be a problem. The Ravenclaw was just glad it wasn’t her…
As the teams continued play, Avis’ eyes quickly found the quaffle again and shot towards it, hoping for another opportunity to score.

Rosy bit her lip as a further cheer broke out from the supporters of Team One. Thirty points? Already? She hated watching the scoreboard tick upward for the other team, but dwelling on it wouldn’t change those goals. The game wasn't finished.
A known face appeared. "Rosy!"
Henry.
The Quaffle fell neatly into her hands and she felt a wave of relief. At last a chance.
She leaned hard over the rims, spotted the smallest opening, and flicked her wrist into a quick Slice. For one hopeful beat of her heart she thought it might get through.
Instead Lily Clarke shot infuriatingly precisely across the goalposts, batting the Quaffle away before it could score. "Tch."
Rosy had scarcely recovered when the ball was again in play. Henry somehow got the ball back against the mounting pressure and trusted her again with the attack. Instinctively she caught the pass and fired another shot off right away.
Blocked.
Again.
Rosy couldn't help but sigh. Frustrated. “She’s good,” she said quietly, glancing at the other Keeper for a moment, then turning her head away.
The match would not slow down. Rosy made another dive for the loose Quaffle, but her sweaty palms slipped. The leather twisted unexpectedly in her fingers, so that her wrist was forced into a ridiculous angle. A sharp pain shot through her hand and she hissed in through clenched teeth.
Great.
She once wrapped her fingers round the broom handle. It hurt but nothing was broken. Later, she'd deal with it.
But a game had to be played all the same.
Rosy bent over her Shooting Star, her eyes narrowing as she watched the Quaffle's flight once more. True, they were behind, but the game wasn't over until the final whistle.

Without acknowledging anyone, Silas made his way onto the pitch and took off as soon as he was allowed. Now that he was blessed with playing in the first-string Beater position, he had some moves he wanted to try out in a more proper game like this. One of them was known as the Bludger Intercept, which sounded wonderful. It would give him the opportunity to not only attempt to hit a random opponent (he didn’t care which — it was about the violence today, not about specific strategy and winning), but also ruin an opposing Beater’s action, thus hopefully negatively affecting two or more people at once. It was perfect.
He chose the targeted Beater at random, tracking the boy visually while waiting for him to make a move involving a Bludger. Unfortunately, that never came — Silas should have picked the other one. Instead of trying to hit the Bludgers, this boy had elected to… what, fly towards someone instead? He wasn’t entirely sure, since he had taken a brutal hit and plummeted to the ground before whatever half-baked plan that had been thought up by the other was able to be carried out. While it was soothing to watch the violence of the body crumpling and falling, Silas was annoyed that his own action had been rendered useless, and his scowl returned. He should’ve picked the girl as the intercept target, instead.

Clearly, Castillo, Graham, and Lavender had the same skill set, so she hoped that Graham, if she chose to search for the snitch, and Lavender had the identical skill set to make this fair.
As Lavender flew up, it looked like both second-string players were immensely strategizing, with Nade and Kim Angeles perhaps longing to replace Prat Pass, but still in intense discussion.

While Holbrook was usually great at running away, he lacked the accuracy to score and aim up in the air, making Denise have to wince in embarrassment for her fellow Hufflepuff. Well, Alica had such poor accuracy as well that Holbrook was destined to likely not score many points for the rest of the game.

"Now, let's hope our chatting will work when the time comes..." Paul gave Brook a short, almost shy, but certainly nervous smile once they were done strategizing, and he looked back at the field. At least something works out well in this match. Sighed the boy.
Watching the match was sad, really. Twice, had he thought they'd manage to score, "ooh"-ing after each and every attempt. Henry and Alica's Quaffle grab and slice made him do a facepalm. Dammit, you have to be supportive, Paul! They're trying their best! "Oh, come on! Shouted the boy after their failure to finally score.
Then, Turner moved his eyes, searching for the team's seeker. The substitute pink-haired girl was good. Plus point, she was easy to spot, with her pink hair. She seemed to have spotted the Snitch at some point, and would hopefully go after it... "Yay, lass! You've nearly got it! Go for it!" He had to shade his eyes from the sunlight, to see her moves!
The beaters had a good plan. Dopplebeater was a formation which Paul himself was part of with the previous moderator of the match herself, in Tatiana's unofficial Qudditch match. His eyes sparked with excitement to see the formation which was an interesting view for the least. However, their blidger was intercepted. "Dammit..." His breath caught in his throat, as the bludger headed towards the seeker, who fortunately evaded it. "Whew! Thank god!" Paul throw his hands up and turned his eyes up for a moment, to thank heavens for their support.
"Wohoo guys! Let's go!" Paul clapped several times, excited for another round.
Brookline, uh, Quinn. I’m a Ravenclaw-third year.
Paul nodded in acknowledgement over @Brookline Quinn's words. "Third year, huh? That means you're doing a bunch of more difficult spells." Said the boy with a smirk. "Which one is most useful for Duellists, and which one is your... hm, personal favourite?"
"No, I don’t think I know Denise, if that’s who you’re referring to as Den.”
Paul grinned, nodding at what the girl next to him, @Brookline Quinn said. "Yeah, that's her. Our one and only Denise..." Paul sighed, as the girl left the pitch. He frowned and sighed "Who's.. gone with the wind before the end of the match. That's sad. I hope she'll be back."
Paul paused after that, as he kept thinking of her words though. "Wait, you don't know Denise? But... how did you get to know about this match? I mean, Denise told me, otherwise I wouldn't know."
It's possible she's just gone to the toilet or something, right? Yeah... maybe. Not likely, but we'll see...
Den was replaced with Avery though, whom he met in the previous Quidditch match too. Alright, Ave will be fine, moderating the match. I believe in her! "Hey, @Avery Gray, you've got this! Go f'it!"

"Holy shit, holy shit," Lia's answer to Lauren's question wasn't anything someone could work with, but the breathless chuckle she let out was enough of an answer to let the blonde girl know that she was fine, damn, that was something," the raven didn't really enjoy getting blatched off her broom, but what was she supposed to do about it now that it had happened? I can live with it, she thought.Ophelia grinned as she heard the moderator, Denise, announce that Avis scored forty points for their team. Then, when @Henry Holbrook missed scoring the Quaffle for the opposing team, she muttered a "yes" under her breath. The 'yes' quickly became a 'no' in disbelief when Lavender's eye caught the Golden Snitch.
"Now, I have to do something," just at that moment, the sight of the bludgering flying over to Avis caught her eye as she tugged on Lauren's sleeve and they reached the girl fast enough for Lia to intercept the bludger toward Lavender, who dodged the ball, Holy shit, the amount of times she'd said that and was going to say those words should've been studied. Something had to be done, though, Ophelia knew that. Pamela was doing a penalty lap, and Ophelia hoped that the next round would bring them more luck.

This round, Jada decided to go for a different strategy. Everyone seemed to be doing fine on their team. No one else fell victim to Ebony’s bat and they were actually winning. This was definitely a first for her and, since she didn’t seem to be all that needed right now, she shifted her focus.
Instead of flying after the quaffle, she kept an eye on her teammates. After all, it would benefit them if they lost another player. Her attention was mainly on Avis, the one who was scoring for them. It didn’t matter if they all ended up in the hospital, as long as they had more points than the other team when the snitch was caught.
After Prat had gone down, they were left with only one beater. Ophelia Vanderbilt. It seemed like she was going to have to get past her grudge, at very least during this game. They needed a conscious beater on the team.
Lastly Pamela. That one was obvious. She was a seeker and catching the snitch would secure them a win at this point. Although she had to do a penalty lap, you never knew what could happen. Bludgers went rogue all the time, it was only a matter of when they would reach Pam.
All in all, she flew around the pitch, hovering around a player she thought might need help and alternating as the threat passed. Even if none of them needed to be saved now, you never know what could happen next round.

| xx | Ebony watched in a strange, paradoxical amalgamation of both despair and pride as Avis continued to score time and time again, the only time she failed to score being a slight fumble where the quaffle had slipped through her fingers at a strange angle. The score now sat at seventy to zero, a point difference which usually evoked a panic within her. The panic was more subdued this time, perhaps due to the opposing chaser being someone she usually flew alongside, or perhaps due to the fact that this was only an unofficial game. The two chasers on her team were sharing a broom, and that was clearly hindering their movement. Flying on a two-headed dragon was not exactly comfortable, and she could imagine how difficult it would be to grab the Quaffle from such a skilled chaser while simultaneously attempting to stabilise the rickety school broom. Ultimately deciding that Avis was to go, the Ravenclaw lined up her bat with the other beater on her team, a Slytherin boy whom she believed was also on the Slytherin Quidditch Team. They struck the bludger toward the chaser in tandem, the bludger sent hurtling with such force that it would have dealt devastating damage considering the combined strength of the two. She had to admit that she was somewhat glad when the bludger was intercepted; she would not have to deal with the rather awkward situation of a bruised and unhappy teammate during practice later. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of the pink haired seeker — who was a new addition to the team — catching a glimpse of gold, and trailing the pesky golden ball in pursuit. Too often, Quidditch games dragged on for eternity due to the seekers failing to find or grab the snitch — she could only hope that this game would conclude soon with a swift snatching of the snitch from the sky and then victory. |

───────────────────────────────────────────────────────A disconcerted huff left the first year's mouth as he failed again and again to win on a head to head Quaffle quarrel when up against Avis. He was trying his best, Merlin help him. But when you're playing tagalong on a school broom and going head to head with someone a year your senior on a far superior mount, it was hardly surprising he's struggling a bit at it.
Now, Henry wasn't particularly prone to taking pleasure in the misfortune of others. But in this particular instance? He didn't mind quite so much when he saw the beaters on his team sizing up Avis with the Doppleganger-whoosiwhatsit in mind. And a frustrated groan left him when the bludger was intercepted before they could pull it off.
The smaller than average chap slapped the shaft of the broom he was riding in frustration and when he saw that it had nearly taken out their replacement Seeker, he barked out a less than pleased, "Oh, for fuck's sake!" He wasn't normally much for swearing, but - given how the game was going for his team thus far - the exclamation had slipped out before he could stop himself, and the embarrassment painted a line of scarlet up the back of his neck.─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
