Hogwarts Pride Boat Parade
Anne was heading into the Gryffindor Common room, glad it was already Saturday. That week had been full of homework and she just couldn’t take a break. It was exhausting. Suddenly, something had caught her eye. As she turned towards it, she saw it was a poster. It was beautifully colored with bright text saying: "Come make a float for the Pride Parade this weekend! Boathouse, 3 p.m. Saturday. Snacks and materials provided.”
She wondered what that parade was. Had she heard it being mentioned before? Anne never actually celebrated pride month, none of her family did, although she still respected those who did. But, she wanted to have fun.
As she started making her way towards the Boathouse, Anne started noticing lots of people gathered. Bright colors were decorating the place. She then saw the boats. They were sparkly, full of life and color. She saw some with feathers, some with flags and most were full of glitter.
Anne went over to the stand and took a canoe. She wondered wether anyone would join her. She saw nobody she knew. There were so many people there she couldn’t find her friends. Changing focus, she took a few materials from the tables and dragged the canoe over to an empty spot.
She stared at the little brown canoe for a while. She decided on what she could do. Looking up towards she sky, an idea came to mind. Setting down a few paint colors, she grabbed a white paint and started painting it all over. This was going to be the base. Anne didn’t like how colors blended in with the brown. After she finished, she grabbed a pencil and started tracing out a sunset. It was going to be full of clouds, everything in different shades of rainbow. Afterthat, Anne started adding some color. She paided attention to the details and made several shades of colors. Little by little, the painting started coming to life.
Drawing back, away from the boat, she looked at the finished piece. It looked great. It was full of colors, as if it was an actual sunset coming to life. Every bench was painted and each border was it’s own unique color.
Back at the table, she grabbed a muffin and a few balloons and flags.
Looking at the boat finally finished, she wondered what she could do. For she had been so submerged in decorating it, she didn’t think about what could go next.
Standing up again, she looked around but still couldn’t recognize anyone. So, leaving her canoe there with the hope that nobody would take it or ruin it, she went into the huge crowd. There were too many people for her liking. She liked people but not in great mass. She wondered around while she was weaving through people looking around at other canoes. She then gave up and decided to maybe go and retouch her canoe a bit more and maybe just stand around or something. So, she headed back towards the table, took a few snacks and went back to the place were her canoe had layed.

Ha? What was that about? Hanako's smile faltered slightly at the sudden change in air even if for a millisecond. If it weren't for Eun-ji's brief halt in her movements, Hanako might've missed it. But he had never seen her have an issue with multitasking talking and working at the same thing. While Eun-ji wasn't the kind to share whats on her mind, (something Hanako shared as well), what he said might've at least distracted her enough to halt her movements. Hanako first panicked thinking if she might've realised where he was going with this. Though as she mentioned her grandfather, Hanako couldn't have the time to conceal his surprised.
It was just a lighthearted joke, but Eun-ji and him had a recognisable habit of stating just enough, despite the heavy hidden meaning they desperately tried to hide. It's just that both of them Hanako guessed - had the decency to not press. " Grandpa.. as in .. her husband..?".
Unfortunate for Eun-ji, Hanako wasn't the same as he was before. Pressing it is, even if it was in a rare tentative tone.
" Huh… well I think you'd still be a pretty good carpenter if you wanted a back-up" he says with a soft laugh, though his smile wasn't reaching his eyes. He let the quiet settle between them his gaze drifted to the flowers he didn't realised he paused in doing.
The familiar fear sunk its teeth into him as he felt his confidence ebb away. Was this the wrong time? Was that a bad idea? Of course it was! But he made himself promise and it would make his effort go to waste if he gave into the cowardice today. His gaze went back to her at the other question, snapping him out of his thoughts that he was quiet for a moment, like he was thinking. Deciding. If only she hadn't sounded as soft as she did. If she didn't, perhaps he would've retained the clawing grip on the tiniest hints of cowardice in him that kept his pride intact.
" I am. In a way" He says, honestly. Nervously, without a trace of a smile as if it was a serious thing to say. " I - well. To be honest, I asked to lead up to another thing I wanted to say but now that I'm saying it out loud, the plan sounded better in my head than in reality. I have something I want to talk with you about. " at this point he had stopped working on the flowers, his focused primarily on her. " Eun-ji… what comes to your mind if I ask you what we are?. Us.. I mean. You and I" he asks finally, before adding reassurance. " Theres no right or wrong answer here. I just.. wanted to know where your thoughts are at".

Blue in English, Red in KoreanUntil Hana's inquiry, Eun-ji didn't even realize she failed to specify, which grandfather she was talking about. She should have, of course, since she only ever talked with Hana about her maternal grandparents and Mr. Hunt rarely came up at all. It's just that her brain itself could never conjure such absurd notion. Despite her bitter mood, the witch couldn't help but let out a brief chuckle. The sound came rough around the edges and yet, it still somehow managed to come across as amused. “Mr. Hunt doing woodwork? Now that's an image I'll never unsee.” You better not laugh in his face next time you see him! Her brain warned, alarm bells already ringing inside her head. “No. I was talking about my paternal grandfather. Sorry, it didn't occur to me to clarify.”
Alas, even the bitter amusement would soon be lost to her. That is, when Hana finally managed to reveal his initial meaning behind the sudden question. Eun-ji’s hands stilled once more. Why? Why was he asking this? Did she do something to give her feelings away? She frantically searched through recent memories, looking for some misplaced gesture or overly sweet string of words but came up with nothing. She didn’t recall acting differently around him. At least not in a noticeable way. Was he genuinely just asking or was he testing her? For once, Eun-ji found herself doubting everything. Unlike Hana, who ceased his work to focus on the discussion at hand, the Ravenclaw did the opposite. She resumed her flower arranging work as seamlessly as she possibly could given the circumstances. There was no way she could look the boy in the eyes and pretend his question meant nothing.
“Liar,” She called him out though the accusation carried no bite. “People like to say so, but every question has a wrong answer.” Even if Hana himself believed his words, which she wasn’t sure he did, Eun-ji knew better than to be careless. Some answers brought anger. Some shattered things. Some demanded more than a person could afford to give. Especially questions like this. The ones feigning innocence when in fact, they were heavy enough to bruise. Nevertheless, she found herself unable to avoid answering altogether. Even now, she simply couldn’t say no to him.
“Well…I guess we strayed a bit from our initial agreement, haven’t we?” She admitted thoughtfully. That much couldn’t be denied. It had been some time since their relationship could be described simply as a “fun distraction”. They shared moments that were anything but fun. Ugly moments that required effort in order to be fixed and yet neither of them seemed to want to let go. What did that make them? Eun-ji fell in love all on her own like a fool, but even before that realization set in, she’d never considered walking away at any point during their time together. Not because of him at least.
“I’m not sure I have an exact label for us.” Friends didn’t sound quite right. Weren’t friends supposed to tell each other pretty much everything? No. Eun-ji couldn’t even do that much. No matter how many hints and little truths spilled past her lips whenever she was with him, she still had many secrets buried deep inside her. Secrets she had no intention of handing to anyone. Ever. Sure, she had friends but she never considered herself to be a good one. And selfishly, Eun-ji didn’t want to become a bad one where Hana was concerned. Besides…friends just seemed too…ordinary to describe them. “How about…” She hesitated. “...unlikely kindred spirits?”
At last, the Ravencaw found the most agreeable term. Not perfect but close enough. Something suggesting a unique connection, without tying any heavy expectations to it. As if to say: "you are special but I won’t hold you back". For a brief moment, Eun-ji considered throwing the question back at him but then, she tightened the leash, she tied around her own neck a long ago...just in time. Hana might have believed there were no wrong answers but Eun-ji knew most of his would be, which left her terrified. Terrified and somehow utterly alone.WC: 686

"Woah!" The remark slipped out despite the task at hand. Her mind stumbled. "You're like Iridia, then, no?" Dahlia only knew one other witch with color-changing hair, that witch being her friend from childhood. It had altered her perspective on the talent's rarity growing up next to a metamorphmagus. Although surprising, it no longer shocked her when she saw someone shapeshifting during mealtime or when eyes changed color in class.
Dahlia did not restrain herself from asking questions. "Why would you dye your hair if you can change it whenever you want?" A sour taste emerged from her throat. Metamorphmagi were endowed with the gift of temporality—transforming any part of themself as they pleased. She wished to do that. Despite the greater visibility of difference in comparison to her heritage, the abilities were enjoyable, fun, even. From her perspective, her own held little value.
"I mean, it's cool you know that either way," the witch continued in a different direction. "Yeah? I haven't ever dyed it so that's probably why." Again, her parents would be furious. The thought passed her by. "I think peek-a-boos are cute. Maybe red?" A hum of consideration slipped from her lips. "I'll take your advice"
The words of Denisse and Ophelia returned her to the current moment. She ought to focus on the task at hand. "Base coat, yeah. Yeah?" Dahlia stepped back to examine the boat. "If we're painting flags on top of it then it might be best to go with white." She ran a hand through her hair. "That's boring though..." The Gryffindor responded to herself. "We could go with a light color, maybe? I don't know. Something like pale pink, light blue, lavender. It would match the mermaid theme for the front."
Her eyes drifted towards the glitter bottles. "Or!" She let the word hang. "We could paint it black and then use glitter for designs. Is there a way for it to be both black and neon?" The witch bit into her lower lip. Merlin forbid she commit to a singular concept.

Jays eyes widened in happiness, neon glittering rainbows? Hell yeah! Jay nodded her head more aggressively than need be as she patted Dahlia on the head.
“Good idea!” usually if it was an idea in class or anywhere else for that matter, Jay would have just nodded and continued her day, but here she actually wanted to be doing this, she wanted to be here and she thought that neon glittery rainbows was the best way to tie it all together.
There was lots of glitter but it was getting taken quickly by other students bustling around, decorating their own boats in a hurry to get things before everyone else. Jay walked over and had a look at the selections of glitter and paints that were sitting there. When she got there she could see every color of the rainbow glittering up at her.
Smiling she picked up a bottle of red glitter and watched as it glinted in the sunlight, reflecting off of the glass of the bottle itself.
Definitely
Jay held up the glitter and waved to the others. There were so many colors Jay didn't even know where to start, she yelled to the group "There's all the colors here! We can do whatever sorta rainbows we want!"

Coded by Melissa BlakeI didn't want to come. Not because I didn't like the Pride and all, but because I literally didn't want to come. I had been ignoring successfully all the posters about the event. The finals were here and, if I didn't want to have bad grades that made me transfer, I needed the time.
Actually, it was all Sky's fault. She could be very persuasive when she wanted to. Somehow, she managed to convince me to go, claiming that if I kept studying that much, I'd become a walking book before summer. I didn't know if take it as a compliment or not.
So now here I was, getting the boat ready while I chatted with Sky.
"—I mean, we're allies of the community. You know, my aunt and her wife, Maude, they adopted a kid two years ago. Zoe. She's cute, but the last time I saw her, she still wasn't able to say 'Mika'. My name is not that hard to pronounce!" I sighed as we grabbed a boat, looking at all the other people in there with a deep sigh.
Everyone was so creative with their boats and then there was... well, ours. In our defense, we had just arrived, so we had an excuse for our ugly boat.
Sigh.
"You're gonna have to decorate this one, Sky. I don't actually know how to do... that." I gestured vaguely at the beautiful designs of the other boats.Stamina: 6 | Evasion: 6 | Strength: 4 | Wisdom: 7 | Arc Power: 6 | Accuracy: 6

✰ Rosy had very been excited about the boat-building event ever since she'd heard about it. It wasn't every day that Hogwarts students got permission to turn boats into a parade, and she was curious to see what everyone would come up with. By the time she arrived at the boathouse, the place was already fill with students carrying supplies back and forth between the tables and the docks.
The atmosphere was so much more alive than she remembered it being. Rainbow banners had been hung around the room, ribbons floated through the air magically, and every table was covered with paint, fabric, and other decorations. The sound of student chatters along with the splashing of the lake outside, created an atmosphere that Rosy liked very much indeed.
Spotting her boat buliding parters, Lena Lott and Lana Scobell among the crowd, Rosy made her way over to them, passing by some older students with a larde wooden sign. Once she reached her friends, she put her bag down on a table and was istantky releived of her back pain and siled at her friends.
"Hey! It really is crowded here today, isn't it?"
She looked around her as she spoke. Students from every house were scattered throughout the Boathouse. Some students had already started sketching ideas while others were sticking their heads into other students' work for inspiration. A few boats were almost done being decorated while others were still waiting for glue to dry.
Opening her bag, Rosy pulled out all the things she had brought with her to decorate the boat- A roll of green ribbon, several silver paper stars, and few packets of decorative gems she placed on the table one by one. She then rummaged in her bag to look for the pack of markers she had brought and put them on the table too.
"I wasn't really sure what we'd need," she admitted, looking over the collection of items. "I just grabbed anything that I thought seemed useful."
Her attention then slid toward the docks where the boats were slowly bumping across the wooden platform. Rosy thought that it was strange looking at them now and imagining how different they would appear by tomorrow. She estimated that by the time the parade started, each boat would probably be covered in their own unique decorations.
The thought made her smile. She liked the idea of everyone working together to create something creative and fun, even if she wasn't sure what her own boat would look like yet!
Nearby, somebody accidentally knocked over a bottle of glitter, which resulted in loud moans and groans from many students. Rosy immediately looked away... This was exactly why she didn't trust glitter- it goes everywhere!
She rested her arms on the table and glanced at her friends, all the supplies, and the boat waiting for their decorations. There were plenty of patterns to decorate the boat in front of them and more than enough materials to work with. The hardest part, Rosy thought, would be deciding where to start. ✰

Lana had been looking forward to the boat parade for days. Decorating a boat sounded like the sort of thing that could either go really well or end up making a complete disaster, and she wasn't sure which outcome she would be getting. Either way, it was better than spending the afternoon inside the castle, and the fact that she would be working with her friends only made it better!
By the time she arrived at the Boathouse, many students had already gathered around the boats. Some carried bags stuffed with decorations while others appeared to be sitting and doing nothing. The atmosphere was very lively, filled with chatter and laughter as groups claimed spaces as their own territories and started discussing plans. Lana took a moment to look around the room before eventually spotting Lena and making her way over to her.
After greeting her friend, Lana put her bag down on the side of their table and looked towards the row of boats floating near the docks. They looked rather small now that she was actually standing beside them. Looking at the empty boats, she found herself wondering how everyone planned to transform them into parade floats. Some students seemed remarkably confident about their ideas already, but Lana wasn't quite there yet. She had supplies and enthusiasm. Beyond that, she was mostly improvising.
The two of them had only been there a short while when a familiar voice caught Lana's attention. Looking up, she spotted Rosy making her way through the crowd towards them. A smile immediately crossed her face as she raised a hand in greeting. It was always easier to settle into an event once everyone had arrived, and she was glad to see another familiar face joining them.
As soon as Rosy reached the table, she began unpacking the supplies she'd brought with her. Lana watched rolls of green ribbon appear one after another, followed by silver paper stars and a packet of decorative gems. The collection spread across the table surprisingly quickly, and before long there was already a respectable pile of decorations sitting between them.
Lana glanced from the supplies to Rosy and then back again. The amount of ribbon alone was impressive. "Well, at least we're prepared," she said with a laugh. "If we run out of ideas, we can always wrap the entire canoe in ribbon and call it artistic." Looking over everything Rosy had brought, Lana couldn't really blame her. Events like this were difficult to prepare for, and bringing too much was probably smarter than realising later that you'd forgotten something important.
The sight of Rosy's supplies reminded Lana that she should probably unpack her own things as well. Reaching for her bag, she pulled it onto the table and opened it. She had packed everything the night before, convinced she was being organised, but now that she was actually looking inside she wasn't entirely sure what her thought process had been.
One by one, she began placing items onto the table. Several rolls of ribbon came out first, followed by paper flowers, a small box of paint, decorative beads, and a handful of tiny flags she'd nearly forgotten she'd packed. With each new item, the pile on the table grew larger. Looking at everything spread out together, Lana couldn't help laughing. Between her supplies and Rosy's, they had somehow accumulated enough decorations to fill most of the table.
Resting her hands on the edge of the tabletop, Lana looked over the growing collection and then towards the canoe waiting nearby. The boat remained completely plain despite the mountain of decorations sitting only a few feet away. They clearly weren't lacking materials. What they needed now was a plan. Still, with plenty of time ahead of them and more than enough supplies to work with, Lana wasn't particularly worried. If nothing else, they certainly couldn't claim they hadn't come prepared.

Speech -- Thoughts
Pam had quite literally forgotten about pride month until the errand had rolled in. Curiosity had lead her to the boathouse, with the intention to explore and look at what exactly building a float entailed.
Not that she herself had any intention of building a float whatsoever.
That wasn't because she disliked the idea. In fact, she thought it was absolutely brilliant. Parades were a common way of celebrating pride month, and the concept of a boat parade instead of the normal type was unique and rather exciting.
The problem lay in the face that it was art. And Pam stayed as far, far away from art as she could. Drawing and painting were not up her alley.
And so, she arrived at the Boathouse with the intention of contributing absolutely nothing beyond her presence. Which was probably a terribly rude thing to do...
The smell of snacks was quick to ease her off her vague feelings of guilt.
If the organizers were providing free food, they were probably expecting a lot of freeloaders.
Hopefully. Right?
Armed with a handful of rainbow-colored sweets, Pam wandered between the boats, peering curiously at the various projects taking shape around her. Some students appeared to have arrived with actual plans, sketching designs and carefully arranging decorations. Others seemed to be making things up as they went, which, in her opinion was considerably more entertaining, and required much more talent and self-confidence.
Pam paused beside one canoe that was already covered in ribbons.
Whose is this? How had they managed to attach so many ribbons?
More importantly, how were they planning to keep them attached once the boat actually touched water?
Magic, maybe?
The question remained unanswered as she continued on her way.
The boathouse was pleasantly busy. Not crowded enough to feel overwhelming, but lively enough that there was always something happening nearby. Paint pots appeared and disappeared. Conversations drifted through the air from every direction. Every few minutes someone would laugh loudly enough to turn a few heads.
It was nice, she supposed.
Her wandering eventually brought her closer to the water's edge. The Black Lake stretched out before her, calm enough to reflect the sky above it. Looking out across the water, she could almost picture the parade already taking place.
The thought made her smile.
A normal parade would have been interesting enough, but a parade made up of canoes in water somehow felt very Hogwarts. Slightly impractical, definitely ridiculous.
Somehow, she felt it was something that would not disappear among the multitude of people's memories.
Her eyes finally drifted over the people, attempting to seek out a familiar face, she might or might not approach. Interestingly, and rather predictably, everyone around her was pretty unknown. Pam found herself frowning in thought as she eyed the students around her. She'd interacted with a fair amount of people since last year... so who were these students she had literally never seen in her life---?
Most of them seem younger though...
Her eyes finally settled on a familiar face, although it took Pam more than a few seconds to remember where she'd last seen the face. Ironic really, considering Pam had found Hanako Tone rather weird the first (and last) time she had met him, not that she'd ever say so aloud.
Yeah, she wasn't about to approach him either.
She shrugged, settling into an empty corner with a cookie to watch the others working.
